This was my third time getting my hair cut by Alissa Todd and by golly she does an incredible job every time! First of all, she is so kind and easy to talk to. Second of all, I've been experimenting with slightly different cuts - longer bangs, short bangs, layers, etc - and she has been so amazing at really taking in all of the little silly details and requests. Today I decided to try shorter bangs and layers, and a rounded shape in the back and I LOVE IT Alissa totally knows how to bring out the natural texture of my hair. Tired of that one hairdresser that cuts your hair the exact same way no matter what you ask for?? Go to Alissa!!! P.S. I saw Sandra for a lash lift and tint. The front desk receptionist immediately greeted me with a smile and checked me in. I was promptly seen by Sandra. Her space is through the salon back down the hallway in a private room. Sandra provided an extremely comfortable space with a friendly bedside manner and very gentle handling of my eyes and eyelashes notably, also her bed/table that you lay on is very comfortable. During my service, my eyes unexpectedly watered, and she was able to fix right away! I can tell she truly cares about her craft and that her clients are extremely happy with the service - she offered if anything needed to be adjusted. Before I start this review I'd like to say that this 1 star probably does not reflect the other talented hairstylists, nor the salon as a whole. However, I have never written a yelp review and unfortunately this is the worst haircut I have ever received. I went in as a first time customer hoping to get a touch up. I recently cut my own face framing layers and it was a bit choppy and I was hoping to get it cleaned up. My hairstylist Ana was nice, but this haircut is far from that. I noticed she was using thinning shears to remove some of the bulk of my hair and that's normal, I'm not new to getting layers done. When she rough dried it and was finished it looked pretty choppy, but again often layers do look like this when it's not styled so I left and went home to style it. It was only when I started touching my hair that I noticed whole chunks of my hair were missing--throughout my ENTIRE head. I could not stop crying because of how genuinely ugly this haircut is, and not to mention completely thinned out. I hope she just messed up on me and it was an off day for her because I would genuinely not wish this upon anyone else. read more

This is a long overdue review! I had to share my wonderful, flawless experience with the ladies from Tiger Lily Salon. They provided hair and makeup for my summer 2022 wedding. Every bride knows how stressful the big day is, but they made it so smooth and seamless! I first spoke with Addy Cota (salon coordinator) a few months prior, and she couldn't have been nicer. We emailed back and forth several times, and she was always very prompt, professional and informative. I eventually arranged to have a hair consultation with Reanna Lunker and a make-up consultation with Heather McDermott. I brought a few photos and they both perfectly captured my vision. I was so impressed with their skills! They were also so sweet. On the big day, Addy, Heather and Reanna arrived early and finished all the hair and makeup with time to spare. My bridal party loved them! We had such a great time getting ready that I completely forgot about my nerves. The pricing was very reasonable as well. When I got the photos back from my wedding photographer, I was blown away! Everyone looked beautiful and flawless. Honestly, Tiger Lily couldn't have done a better job. I live in Los Angeles and drive up to SLO to get my hair razored by Curtis. Him and his wife have been cutting my hair for the past 16 years. I live in LA and drive to SLO for a reason. I want my hair to be fabulous. (I've learned my lesson twice when I went to another salon in LA, and my hair was butchered.) I know that every time I walk into this salon, I'm going to be leaving ecstatic. I give freedom to Curtis, my stylist, because I trust him. The salon is very clean. They communicate via text as a reminder of the appointment, and the receptionists are always super nice when I talk to them on the phone, and then they greet me with this beautiful smile when I walk in. There are so many different textures that cohesively create a trendy and elegant atmosphere. BUT let's talk about my stylist Cassidy; she is a gem, so beautiful inside and out! I came in so nervous because I had grown out my natural healthy hair but become bored and wanted more texture. I really wanted to love this salon as a genderqueer woman I have a really hard time finding salons that are comfortable for me and can blend/ bend gender in hair styling. I'm not talking super out of the box simple things like feminine hairlines and tight sides along my glasses. So when I saw this salon sponsoring pride and read their website I was hopeful. Too bad my experience did not match my hopes. When I made my appointment the person scheduling did not ask for my pronouns so I assumed the stylist would as part of their intro. It was on their online intake form so I thought it would be standard practice. When it wasn't mentioned at either place and my pronouns were assumed feminine thus misgendering me a few times during my appointment. (I use neutral pronouns) I did make reference to being genderqueer to see if it would trigger a conversation about pronouns as it often does in queer friendly spaces but it did not. I just didn't have the energy at that moment to do the correction and have the potential awkward conversation after. My stylist also seemed unable to blend gender styles providing me with a very masculine hair style. I was trying to communicate that at the beginning of my haircut and quickly gave up as I realized I was in for a very binary experience. While I understand this may be a challenging request this was advertised as a LGBTQ affirming space so my expectations were high. At the end I did say I was happy with my cut even if I was less than thrilled with it and my experience, and know my stylist would have tried to fix whatever I didn't like. Yet, I was ready to be done and move on. Knowing this was not the queer friendly place I'd hoped for or the level of haircut I would have expected for what I was paying.
