The S8. Fresh Spring Rolls / Gỏi Cuốn (2 Rolls)

Finally got the chance to try this restaurant. The chicken wings with the house sauce was delicious, as was the combination rice plate. Also enjoyed the bun bo hue. The shrimp spring rolls lacked shrimp, though. Service was quite fast and the food came out quickly. I really liked the decor of the restaurant. Felt airy inside. And the ox statue was an interesting addition.

The food was absolutely amazing and the inside was so beautiful I love the decoration. I would definitely come here again, it is a little pricey but great experience! Service is absolutely amazing! Nice workers!

Getting together with my friend, she and I both wanted something on the lighter yet filling side. We decided on pho, but since our typical spot was closed we branched out to Tigon. Tigon is an unassumingly larger than expected restaurant. There is a lot of seating inside which includes booths and tables. The decor is beautiful! Love all the hanging blossoms, art, and wooden touches. Service was good! Mostly some teens helping us, and they did a great job checking on us. Definitely gives off a family run restaurant vibe to it. My friend and I both got the Wonton Soup and added Rice Noodles. It was standard. The broth was comforting and similar to pho broth. The wontons were filled but didn't have much flavor. But the portion was giant and we both had lots of leftovers. I'd probably try something else if I were to come back. For those in the El Cerrito area, I recommend Tigon to have Vietnamese cuisine and support a local business. Since they're located off San Pablo Ave. street parking is available.

We got there around 40 minutes before they closed. I was hoping to be able to order a rice plate or something similar but they said that they could only serve us the soup dishes... Haven't ever had this happen to me before but I guess I could understand it a little? Ordered Bun Bo Hue and my friend ordered their Beef Pho. Both were ok but not anything special. My noodles were very chewy which was great but some strands were not even cooked thoroughly and still hard. 3/5 stars for me.

I walked into this restaurant and felt like I was in Hanoi minus the 20hr. plane flight. The restaurant has a great southeast Asian, ambiance, a beautiful waterfall, w/ lots of seating throughout w/ booths against the wall. Loved the stir fried string bean dish and instead of the tofu/chicken/shrimp options, I added beef to the order. The dish was marinated in a nice lemongrass base, bell peppers, onions and chili flakes. The dish was incredibly tasty paired w/ white rice to soak up those delicious flavors. Although we enjoyed the prawn & tofu in clay pot, with the lovely coconut milk, onions and peppers flavors, the portion was very small. Not too sure if it was worth the $25 price tag. The vermicelli salad was the standard bowl of vermicelli noodles, mixed in an array of vegetables w/ the options of grilled pork, beef, chicken or prawns w/ a vinaigrette on the side. Little pricy, but enjoyed the food at Tigon. Definitely worth at least one visit:)

Super delicious pho! The interior was super well decorated and comfortable. Felt like I got transported to a different place. The service was fine. The food was good, the broth was light but flavorful. The noodles were chewier than the usual pho that I eat which was new. The meat was just as I expected. My boyfriend got the iced viet coffee and it was so strong and felt a little thick/creamy?? Definitely needed to wait for the ice to melt then add more ice!

I usually come here and get the chicken rice plate, but this time I decided to order the chicken pho to go. It came with white chicken breast meat and two types of noodles, which was really interesting! The broth was delicious, and they included fresh veggies and condiments on the side.

Pho comes out quickly, and different dishes have different cuts of meat (I chose 12 with the brisket and round steak). The pho was a bit off in terms of the broth-to-noodle ratio. I usually like to taste the broth first before getting a bite of everything, but as soon as I dipped my spoon in, I could already tell how many noodles were packed into the bowl. Once the noodles loosened up, there wasn't much soup left. The broth itself was darker, but not in the rich, deeply flavorful way. It tasted more like it had been seasoned heavily at the end with too much bouillon, fish sauce, or something similar, making it too salty without much aroma. The brisket was good, and I did enjoy the traditional toppings like tripe and tendon, but I probably wouldn't come back for the pho. The rice plate with lemongrass pork and shrimp was decent. I just wish there had been more scallion oil, and the salad didn't add much to the plate. Fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots would have gone a long way.

It's like a pho salad. It has tons of bean sprouts underneath the noodles and a lot of deep fried garlic pieces that make the noodles taste like Hong Kong crunchy noodles. At first I thought the egg noodles were fried. It was crunchy and there wasn't a lot of noodles but mostly a lot of sprouts and herbs. There were a lot of fatty barbecue pieces that I did not eat. I enjoyed one shrimp and one piece of squid. There were a ton of fake crab meat. The side soup was very nice and hot but had a taste of chicken fat and lots of salt and MSG. The noodle dish is extremely tasty and doesn't need any addition of soup. This was excellent on a hot day after a nice hike at Tilden Park. My husband ordered the same dish as me at my recommendation and loved it. My friend had their chow fun with seafood and barbecue. She enjoyed it and it was a generous amount so she took home half. This place is not shy about using MSG and the food is very salty and strong tasting. I find the dishes much cheaper than other Vietnamese restaurants. My dish was only $13.50. That's very cheap since it was full of herbs and seafood. Service is very efficient when they're not busy. No frills. Service is very slow when it's busy. Most of their customers are people who are coming here during their office lunch break during the weekdays. I noticed it was very quiet on a weekend. I'm still going to go back to my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Berkeley next time I am in the area, Phosho Dough.

For the boat noodles, I'd give it 5/10. We also order duck larb, Lao style papaya, sticky rice, bbq pork neck plate, and Thai ice tea. The duck larb was so good. Like 9/10. Not too fatty. I could eat that all day with sticky rice. The sticky rice was really good too! I am a picky sticky rice eater so I give it 10/10. The bbq pork neck plate was seasoned very well and my kids ate it up! Totally kid approved 9/10. As for the Lao style papaya, 2/10. Lao style papaya is my favorite style so when we had it here, I was greatly disappointed. It really just tasted like fish sauce. Nothing else. If it was closer it Hayward, I might go back for the duck larb but guys, the boat noodles was just alright. I know everyone has their own taste but to me, it wasn't worth it. Also! We didn't ask the restaurant if they had wifi mainly because they looked really busy. We didn't want to bother them. Just download some videos before you go . A friend of mine was also stopped by the same person when driving through the alley before, so this doesn't seem to be an isolated incident. I had previously been told that he might be associated with the restaurant, so I appreciate the clarification and your willingness to look into it. Original comment: I've been a regular customer at Noodles Fresh for a long time, and I've often entered through the Kearney St. entrance to pick up food. Tonight, at around 8:45 PM, I was simply walking through the small alley next to the restaurant's back entrance when an older white man in a car, who appeared to be associated with the restaurant, called out to me and told me that it was a "private parking area" and that I should not walk through there. His tone was unnecessarily rude and confrontational, especially since I was just passing by and had done nothing wrong. If pedestrians are not allowed to use that area, there should be clear signage or some kind of barrier indicating that it is private property. If there is an open walkway with no clear notice, I don't understand why someone should be spoken to so rudely simply for walking through it. As a longtime customer, I found the interaction extremely unpleasant and disrespectful. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning to Noodles Fresh.

Rang the bell twice before a lady appeared and directed me to sit on the other side of the restaurant. Adventure begins. It was COLD where I sat, so I asked for a cup of hot tea -- problem solved. The menu, though? Massive. Pho, salads, Vietnamese sandwiches, porridge, vegetarian dishes, noodle soups, vermicelli bowls, rice plates, chow mein, catering options... and about 30 drinks including fruit shakes with boba. If you can't find something here, that's on you. Parking is easy since they have their own lot - always a win around here. Now, about the staff -- I mention this because credit is due. Everyone appears to be older (50+), clearly hardworking folks grinding it out to make a living, and they're genuinely nice. Don't expect much small talk in English though -- they're polite, efficient, and focused on getting things done rather than chatting, which is totally fine. Just a "here's your food, enjoy" kind of vibe. One funny (but slightly distracting) thing: there was a full-on conversation happening in the kitchen between a lady and a man, and it was loud enough that I could clearly hear it from my seat. I felt like I was unintentionally eavesdropping. Maybe turn the kitchen decibel down just a notch? Final downside: a $0.50 to-go charge and a $1.38 'merchant fee.' I find these additional charges off-putting and they give me pause about returning. On principle, I believe these are operating costs the establishment should absorb rather than fees that are passed on to the customer. Overall: extensive menu options, hardworking staff, easy parking -- but the mediocre food, extra fees and a few quirks will keep me away and keep it from being a slam dunk.
