    Garlic Lime Shrimp Bowl
    Ron M.

First time at this eatery. Based on the menu and prices, a meal here is about the same as Taco Bell, but the food is way better. We were a trio and after carefully considering the menu, we all decided to get the same thing - a lime shrimp bowl. Each of us thought it was absolutely delicious! The stand where you could pour your own sauce was super interesting, so we definitely tried it out. Bottom line, no more Taco Bell. We shall return here instead.

Update June 2025: How sad. This place used to be a good place for a quick bite. It has gone downhill. The staff doesn't offer refills, is always in their phones, the food was never that amazing, but it was decent. The biggest annoyance is the menu is constantly changing for the worst.

I noticed there are a few Tex-Mex restaurants in the area, but Tijuana Flats is a hidden gem. The food is fresh and delicious and made to order. If you like spicy, they have plenty of spice that you may flavor. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and eager to offer suggestions for those who are not familiar with their menu and the levels of hot sauces they offer. It's a very chill atmosphere, they didn't have any music playing, but they had TVs. to watch while you eat. I had a great culinary experience at Tinuans Flats, if you're ever in Cary, NC check them out!

Tijuana Flats is located in Cary in a Harris Teeter Shopping Center so that means plenty of parking. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Inside of the restaurant is very colorful and I loved all of the messages on the walls. I came here for a Yelp Event but got a shrimp bowl to go. I was very impressed with the service here as my name was remembered from my first order. Then when i was asked what ingredients I didn't want on it, I forgot to exclude an item but I did notice that she excluded it for me as she remembered from earlier. The place was hopping so I found that very impressive that she remembered. I really loved the shrimp bowl. I ate it cold as I didn't want to reheat some of the ingredients but it was delicious with all the flavors. I will return and have the dish as it was intended to be eaten warm.

Came here as part of a Yelp promotion and I'm pretty happy I did. Brought a plus one and split the steak flautas and chicken flautas that were featured for this event. The quantity was large and came with a good amount of condiments complimentary like guac, pico, Queso, and the self-serve hot sauce bar. The food was decent. The chips and hot sauce bar were the highlights. I enjoyed the food but it didn't blow me away or anything. Def worth checking out as a change up from the usual moes/chipotle. They also have specials on some days that make it even more worth it. Unfortunately, I didn't take photos of them but they're probably listed on their website if you're interested.

I attended a Yelp Elite event with a friend at this location. I enjoyed the colorful and warm atmosphere, plus the music is entertaining (keep the playlist on rotation please). Take a moment to look at the ceiling tiles when you visit Tijuana Flats. The creatively designed tiles add personality to the location. The Elite event included two flautas, two drinks and an appetizer. The flautas here are tasty and filling. The entree came with pico, sour cream, guacamole, queso and tortilla chips. My personal favorite is the queso. It is slappin'! The customer service staff answered all of our questions, and were friendly. I will be back to try out the 2 for $20 Saturday special!

What a great place! The food is tasty the people are so friendly! When you enter you place your order i got the chicken flautas with chips and a lemonade. The girl working the counter was super friendly took my order gave me my lemonade and I had a seat inside. Plenty of seating in and out. A few minutes later my food was brought on a tray with napkins and utensils. I went to the sauce bar and ate my delicious chicken flautas.

Great customer service! I loved the deal on the drinks for the weekend. $3 drafts! The steak bowl had was really good and the lettuce was very fresh. I had avocado dressing with my chips and it was very fresh and amazing. I really enjoyed the music that was playing and had a great time with my friends here. I would recommend this place!

The staff were very attentive and hospitable. On Tuesdays, they have a Mix & Match 3 tacos deal for $11.99. You can mix both flour or corn tortilla tacos, but it doesn't include the Birria tacos. I ended up trying the shrimp tacos on flour tortilla, ribeye taco on corn, and al pastor on corn. I also tried a bite of the carne asada on flour taco from my sister. I would highly recommend the al pastor taco. It's juicy (comes with pineapple sticks) and the flavor is fantastic. The shrimp was also good but it's on the heavier side bc they add cheese. The ribeye was my least favorite and although the flavor is good, it's pretty dry without much sauce. If you want steak, I would go for the carne asada instead (they add guac) Overall, fantastic restaurant and a great deal for tacos on Tuesdays. My favorite part is the complimentary chips and salsa. Life changing.

When I went, the mojitos were on special for $6, so I of course had to order it. It was good, just a tad on the sweet side. For the app, we got the queso with chorizo and it was delicious. We also ordered the fajitas for two. It was HUGE and had an array of different meats - chicken, steak, chorizo, shrimp, and carnitas. Sadly most of the meats were overcooked and not as enjoyable to eat. La Victoria is still one of the better Mexican food spots I've had in Raleigh so far (especially as a native Texan growing up around incredible Tex-Mex). Worth a visit!

I was really one mayonnaise filled torta away from missing out on my favorite Mexican restaurant of Cary. The food is some of the freshest and most authentic in the area, and is consistently spot on. Forget heavy burritos or overly sauced enchiladas, this place is the real deal. When you come to Esmeralda Grill, you should really focus on the meat heavy dishes, whether it be via land or sea. There are so many different options to choose from, from both categories. When thinking seafood, expect the full fish. If you find yourself with the fresh grilled tilapia, you will receive a delicious whole fish that tastes as if it was caught that morning. It is such a fantastic option. I also appreciate the camarones a la diabla, or Diablo shrimp. The shrimp are plump and juicy, the spice of the dish is excites your taste buds and is a great dish. My favorite entrees are the land meat dishes though. El Trio Perfecto is my go-to order, it is grilled steak, chicken and pork all on one plate with rice, beans, salad, and tortillas. The Mexican spice rub on the meats is absolutely mouth watering, the flavors are so bold and tasty. The meats are all cooked to perfection and the portions are gigantic. You can make different tacos with the various meats, it is seriously one of my favorite Mexican dishes. I would highly recommend this! Additionally, Esmeralda Grill has so many other wonderful dishes for different flavor profiles. My grandparents are pretty particular about empanadas, but simply cannot get enough of Esmeralda's version. They also make some killer tacos, and some very affordable ones if you were to come on Tuesday! The moral of the story? Don't base your opinion of a restaurant after a single visit. You don't come across a fantastic hole in the wall every day, Esmeralda Grill is one that every Mexican food lover should know!

I usually rotate between the tacos, enchiladas, and molcajetes, and while the tacos themselves are just okay, the overall experience is solid. The fresh chips are easily some of the best I've had at a Mexican restaurant (warm and crisp). Add queso to those chips and it really seals the deal. They more than make up for the tacos being a bit underwhelming and are honestly reason enough to come back. This is a great neighborhood spot if you're looking for authentic flavors, generous portions, and excellent chips and dips (biggest downside is no liquor aka no margaritas). Not every dish is a knockout, but the highlights keep it comfortably in 4-star territory.

Walking into La Santa the restaurant feels vibrant, energetic, and artistic which blends in with an industrial look and dia de los muertos murals on the walls. To be seated you'll check in with the host at front and then be shown to your table either inside or outside. When you sit down the server will bring complimentary chips and salsa to the table. The salsa and chips were food and not too spicy on the salsa/over salted on the chips. For food I ordered the Grilled Shrimp Tacos (Grilled shrimp, flour tortilla, homemade coleslaw, avocado, dehydrated onions, and homemade Chipotle sauce) and my partner ordered the De Pescado tacos (Mahi mahi fish, creamy sauce, cucumber, pico, mango, avocado, flour tortillas, and white rice). By far I would lean toward the shrimp for the flavor and softness of the meat. The fish was a bit tough to eat. Both taco plates also are served with a side of rice. Btw, on Tuesdays La Santa runs a special on taco plates (excluding the De Arrachera) for 50% off regular price. Highly recommend checking out La Santa if you are in the Glenwood South area. While the food is on the pricey end, the portion sizes make up for it and the quality is there. On my first visit, I tried their Tres Amigos dish. It is basically a mix grill with shrimp, steak and chicken. It came with rice, beans, and veggies. The meats were super flavorful and the rice and beans were actually great! I hate it when a Mexican place just dumps overcooked rice and goopy beans and calls it a day. The veggies were very clearly frozen and came from a bag, wasn't all that excited by that. I think arroz con pollo (ACP) is one of the simplest, yet, most delicious Mexican dishes. It is chicken, cheese and rice, how can you mess that up? Mamacita does their ACP justice. The chicken is tender, there is a nice balance between the cheese and rice, and it is just a great combination altogether. They also do a decent job with their birria tacos (although wasn't the biggest fan of the consume) and their churrasco plate. They even top it with a legit salad, not just the chopped lettuce and tomato. In the end, I am always full and satisfied with the meal. I certainly think this is worth a visit.
