I attended a Yelp event here on a Wednesday night, and I'm so glad I did! I think this is a great place for Tex-Mex, and I wouldn't even guess it's a chain restaurant. As part of the event, we received a complimentary sangria. I really liked that you could actually taste the red wine in the drink, so it wasn't overly sweet. They also brought us plenty of chips with salsa, guacamole and queso. I thought their guac was really tasty and their salsa perfectly chunky (not runny like some restaurants). We then got a sampling of flautas, nachos and a "secret" menu item which resembles a cheesy Gordita crunch. Everything was so good we literally could not stop eating! I like that you can choose your own adventure here by adding whatever hot sauce you can tolerate (which is none for me personally) from the hot sauce bar, and it allows everyone to flavor as they please. I will definitely be coming back here to try more off their menu! read more

Umm, so, staff is super friendly and I like the ambiance of this location, but unfortunately the food was lacking for me. Disclaimer, we did get ours to go, and it was packed really nicely to avoid sogginess in transport which I really appreciate. Also, I'm going to venture to say the sauce bar is where it's at, which I also missed out on. That being said, the Atom Bomb for a starter is supposed to be the equivalent of their jalapeño popper. Unfortunately there was no heat with these bombs and the peppers tasted like just diced green peppers. Also, and I know it's not specific to this location, but the nutritional facts says the cream cheese is 0 calories, fairly certain that's a type-o although I wish it were true. Also the tortilla was fried and tasted like a puff pastry fried but in the pic online it claims to be a soft tortilla so I was a bit thrown. I got the chicken tacos, hubs got the chicken quesadilla with street corn, everything was bland, with really no kick of flavor, that's why I'm wondering if everything is made like that and then I'm supposed to add flavors with the multiple sauces? My husband and I got to try the new street corn options including the street corn bowl, street corn side, and street corn quesadilla. The corn on the cob side is AMAZING!! My husband doesn't usually care for corn on the cob so I was looking forward to eating both of our sides, but he took one bite and devoured the whole thing. Sad for me, but kudos to Tijuana flats for converting him! The bowl was very filling and loaded with flavors, such a satisfying meal. The quesadilla was delicious too. The yelp elite event brought us here today, and thank god it did. We had the Queso Crunch Burrito. It was pretty d*#n good. The garlic lime sauce was really good, and it was very filling. This was my first time at this location. The business is spacious with lots of tables, chairs, & the sauce bar. The clerk that rang me up was nice and helpful even though the business was closing in about 30 minutes. I ordered the fries and queso based upon trying them at another location and really enjoying them. I had the opposite experience at this location. The queso was ok and the fries were way too salty. I could barely eat them. I had to wipe the salt off of them to try and eat them. If the business was not getting ready to close I would have most definitely returned them. Meh. It's like Chipotle but with a crazy collection of hot sauces, kinda. I had originally planned somewhere else for lunch, as I'm not a big fan of the general concept of 'order a base thing and put things on it' model of burrito building. I also didn't want a giant flour tortilla with a bunch of afternoon drowsy inducing rice, so opted for a bowl. Which apparently makes your lunch more of a snack, because I was less than impressed with the contents of the bowl as it wasn't really a bowl mostly a slightly deep plate that wasn't full. Would have thought like most places they'd increase the bean to offset the rice removal, but instead just had less stuff. The sauce selection was interesting, only had a couple of really hot attempts with the always hot but never tasty Carolina reaper. No ghost chill to be found which i always like on Mexican as it has a smokier flavor vs the reaper which is just hot with bad flavor. The other sauce had 'pepper extract' and some tomato sauce and sugar so it was sweet and kinda hot. Of the few i tried the amped up siracha was pretty good, as was the habenaro based one. That at least gave you something interesting to do with the ok food. The steak option was pretty light with contents and wasn't that interesting other than being protein in there. read more

Their Double Stacked Cheesy Tacos are a must have. A hard taco shell and a soft taco fused together with queso and cheese, so good! Their loaded nachos which were perfectly loaded with delicious toppings. The chicken flautas had such a crispy outside with a savory and delicious filling. Not the best. The salad was an empty experience. I ordered the steak salad and there was mainly lettuce, not much else. The steak was delcious but Where was the beef! Also, the citrus salad dressing was horrible. Tasted artificial. This is not good. How hard is it to get a salad right? Anyhow, I would possibly try it again if I had to or it was convienient. What a good time! I visited this TF location during a Yelp event and had a ball. The location looks so new - clean on the inside and outside, but it's been around for about 5 years. The atmosphere is very casual and can be loud, so bring your friends if you're looking to chat all throughout your meal! The front house staff was amazing and had smiles on their face all night. My husband and I had vegetarian nachos, flautas, and double stack cheesy tacos. I loved the double stack tacos, they were so clean and neat to eat. You get "the best of both worlds" with a hard taco nestled inside a soft tortilla, with a layer of queso in between to get everyone acquainted. Their guacamole is so flavorful and they do not skimp on the sour cream...not to mention they have a sauce bar for you to try. The only thing I wish was different were the vegetarian options. All of the dishes I had substituted the meat for beans, which made each dish a little repetitive. If somehow there could be grilled vegetables or maybe even seafood (for pescatarians), that would really elevate their game! I've discovered there are two kinds of Yelpers: people who recognize the awesomeness of Tijuana Flats and people who are horribly, abjectly wrong. This is one of the greatest quick service chains around. I used to love their Indianapolis store and feel like the experience is the same here. The staff is friendly and motivated to help, contrary to many counter service restaurants. They come around for refills, help with the menu, and are just very pleasant. It feels well managed. I like the tacos and really appreciate the fresh jalapeños. The portions are excellent for the price. They have a few beers on tap, but I usually get their sweet tea because it is delicious. They have some really great specials throughout the week and the hot sauce bar cannot be beat. The flavors rotate and if you dare to try the any sauces with the black and red smiley face, your tongue will melt off. We come here for dinner before grocery shopping next door. There is nice outside seating if the weather is good, but the decor inside is bright and fun and of course in close proximity to the hot sauce bar. So, in conclusion, if you have tried this and think Moe's or Chipotle is better, it's time to log off. read more

Our friends have been talking Tijuana Flats up for a while now and I really haven't thought too much of it....but today we finally went out with them to this location. Everything about this place did it for me from the second I walked in...actually before we even left the house. Called to see if they wouldn't mind putting on the Cavs-Raptors game so I didn't have to miss the first half. They said they would be happy to. Bonus points. This place is colorful and eye catching and I loved every bit of the theme and decor. I was surprised to learn it was an order at the counter joint but my unease was quickly put to rest when I looked across the room and saw the incredible hot sauce buffet. All of them were Tijuana Flats recipes and they bottle and sell all of them. Girls at the register are friendly, patient and very helpful for first timers. I ordered the Bangin Chicken Burrito on a wheat tortilla. I was blown away. The tortilla was so perfect, just crisped on the outside and soft on the inside, amazing for a wheat option.....and finally, no rice in the burrito!! I like Chipotle so I'm not hating, but this burrito put chipotle to shame. 2 people with entrees and an app for $20 and we couldn't finish our chips despite me not wanting to stop eating the hot sauces. I'll be back often. They run special deals on Tuesdays and Thursdays that are incredible for the money. UPDATE: I didn't think there was much room for improvement but I had to take a minute to praise the staff at this store. I haven't been to any other T-Flats to compare, so I don't know if this store is blessed with incredible employees or if this is built into the culture of T-Flats. Served cold, filled mostly with lettuce and covered with some canned yellow gunk they call queso sauce. If I'd had ordered w/o lettuce, I'm not sure there would have been anything inside. No rice, no beans. Just a lot of lettuce, maybe a tomato and a scant amount of shredded pork all served on a styrofoam plate with cheap plastic knife and fork. If you are looking for a quick Mexican type meal, save your time and go to Moe's or Chipotle instead. For the same price, you get so much better food. Staff is very friendly though. I have been there several times with my family for the numerous specials they have during the week, including taco Tuesdays. However on my visit yesterday, there was a mild delay in making my order which I had placed by phone. While I was waiting for my order to be made the manager (Morgan) apologized to me and began talking with me. Not only did she remember my name for the next 20-30 minutes but she also went above and beyond to thank me for my business. They consistently have great food. They recently hosted a Yelp event that I had to miss, but I had friends who went and loved so I thought this weekend we would check it out. There was a greeter at the door (her name was Alli) who gave us menus and explained how everything works. Basically, you order at the counter and they will bring your food (in courses if you ordered more than one). She also explained their hot sauce bar. We started with the dip trio, a sangria and a beer. The trio has guac, salsa, and queso. Yumm!!! I love some queso! The salsa was good and fresh too. My husband said the guac was good as well. Their chips were hot, but are seasoned with more than just salt. I want to say they had cumin sprinkled on them, but don't quote me on that. They are good, but the extra spice could sometimes be a little overbearing. Next time I'll order the chips sans seasoning. My sangria was good, but it was a red sangria and I would LOVE for them to add a white sangria on the menu as well. When our trio came out, Alli stopped by to check on us and offered to go pick out some of her favorite hot sauces from the hot sauce bar. She came back with some yummy treats. My favorites were the Georgia peach and a sweet chili sauce (that I cannot remember the same of). Alli really took good care of us. For my meal, I had two chicken tacos and some chips (which at this point our table was swimming in chips, which is NEVER a bad thing). My tacos were light and fresh. My husband got the chicken flauntas and said they were great. His dish also came with queso (bonus queso...AWESOME), guac, sour cream, and all the veggie toppings on the side. With a lot of Hispanic food places, you feel like they really nickel and dime you on sauces and sides, but Tijuana Flats does not. We ended the evening with the COOKIE DOUGH FLAUNTA. Y'all it is the best dessert I have had in a while and you will love it (if you love warm, gooey cookie dough). I had this Saturday night and I am still daydreaming about it three days later. At the end of our meal, Alli came back by and got us boxes, lids for the dips we did not finish, and packed up an extra queso for us. She really did a great job. What I really liked was that with the payment set up, you pay and tip before you have any interaction with anyone expect the cashier (previously working in the food industry I have found that tips are smaller and fewer when the payment method is set up this way). So Alli didn't know how much we originally tipped or if we would leave a tip on the table, but she gave us fantastic service the entire time. I hope her manager reads this because she deserves to pat on the back. We got an app, two entrees, two drinks, and a dessert for about $30. A+ y'all. For a lunchtime "taco tuesday" this wasn't bad. There's a line out the door and a nice young lady offered to get us some drinks while we waited in line. The food was okay (carnitas tacos), a bit on the larger side (for tacos). Where they get you price wise for taco tuesday is to charge extra for salsa to accompany the chips that come with the meal. I can't say I know about any other day of the week, though. It seems that for the money, one get get a better meal at almost any run of the mill local tex mex or mexican places. For instance, one goes to Torerros, El Dorado or El Corral, one's chips and salsa are complimentary just for showing up, so the value for the money is what becomes the real issue here. The hot sauces weren't really as hot as I would have expected from the explanations - and I went straight for the hottest selection they had - the red ghost pepper stuff - I was just surprised that it wasn't as hot as folks were making it out to be. Came here for farewell lunch for one of my coworkers. It was my first time at at Tijuana Flats so not sure what to expect. I've been to Chipotle, Qdoba, and Moe's in the past so I guess I'll see how it compares to those. There was plenty of seating inside and they have a nice outdoor seating as well. The outdoor seating seems to be shared with Taziki's next door. We had pretty good weather that day so we decided to sit outside under the umbrellas. I ordered the veggie and bean burrito. It comes with some chips and a choice of queso or salsa. My first thought was that their salsa had a sweet taste to it. I wasn't expecting that at all. I did like how the chips were seasoned very well. A lot of Tex-Mex places just serve bland chips but these had special seasoning on them that gave them extra flavor. The vegetarian burrito was OK. The flour tortilla that they used wasn't as soft as I would have liked. It had a dry consistency like paper. They could have seasoned the contents of that burrito more as it really lacked flavor. Today the GM Thomas went above and beyond! This place makes the best Guacamole EVER! I had ordered the burrito with a side of guacamole (of course), but discovered a small foreign object in my guacamole. Nothing bad just something like a piece shell, skin, or tortilla. I brought it to their intention with the hopes of simply a new side of guacamole. Rather then doing that he took the small piece of "something" and went to investigate. During this time I went back to enjoying my delicious burrito and chips. Shortly there after he came to the table with a new receipt comping my meal and sending me home with a fresh LARGE side of guacamole and chips! This is my first visit here at Tijuana Flats. I was anxious to try it out while watching the new shopping center where it is located was being constructed. I have my normal lunch rotation and kept forgetting to try it out. The ordering process is a bit awkward as you look at a menu before ordering unlike having a board behind the register to review but the menu has a lot of options. I ordered a chicken burrito, wet with rice and black beans. The food was fresh and hot as well as quite tasty. I like the multiple hot sauce choices although the hottest "Ghost" sauce was a bit mild for my taste buds. Service was fast and friendly, taking a page out of the Chic-fila play book. This is late but better now than never. I learned about this restaurant through the wral.com coupon lady's site. The restaurant was offering a free Mothers Day entrée to all mothers. Upon seeing the ad, I laughed to myself - knowing there was no way anything could be entirely "free." I told my hubby, he also laughed, citing, "there's no such thing as a free lunch!" Though I believed him, I was also curious. So following instructions, I headed to the establishment's Facebook page and quickly located the ad. I read the comments - one commenter needed clarification as to whether kids could eat for free with moms - as she had heard the rumor that it was so. The reply was that the promo only applied to moms. Seeing that this was too good to be true, I picked up the phone and called the location nearest to us. It was confirmed: "Yes! Not only do ALL mothers eat for FREE but so do their children." I still couldn't believe it. (Yeah, I'm worse than doubting Thomas when it comes to these things) The Verdict: The very next day was Mother's Day. My hubby teased me on our way to the location. I replied, "that's why you won't be eating with us - I blew a kiss to my toddler as I grabbed our 5 year old daughter's hand and headed through the front door. (I knew I could have taken two of the kids but I didn't wanna push it - besides it wasn't exactly toddler kind of food.) As we walked in, we were greeted by two smiling servers behind the register - who spoke before I could even tell them why I was there: "Happy Mother's Day! I hope you are ready to be treated to a free meal for you and your daughter" Okay...perhaps those weren't the exact words but it was close! And yes, I wanted to cry. Why? - The staff treated us so nicely. - I didn't even buy anything to get the offer (I didn't even walk in with my wallet!) - They took their time preparing our food! It was HOT and FRESH! (I didn't mind - I used my time taking selfies with my daughter and texting friends about how they MUST patronize Tijuana Flats) - They even apologized for the time it took to prepare my meal. I didn't mind bc I knew it was freshly prepared. - THEY PROVED ME WRONG MORAL OF THIS: Some people genuinely offer FREE LUNCH with no ties or hidden fees. Tijuana Flats has won a fan for life!
