You guys... this place is AWESOME!!! Staff is always super helpful and friendly and the restaurant is always clean and on spot. I ordered a smothered chimichanga and cheese nachos to go. They gave me a water with lemon while I waited for my order which, didn't take long at all. Staff even held the door open for me as I walked out with my food. So disappointed with one of my favorite chains on the island. I've been coming for YEARS and have always had the best service, but over the last year I have had at least countless mishaps and some pretty terrible service which turns me off from returning. I'm not sure what's going on with management or staffing, but the two girls that I constantly find are doing pickup/mobile orders are lacking in kindness and any sense of service. Every time I come in to pick up an order, they are chatting away and specifically avoid looking in my direction at the counter to see what I'm there for. Not only that, but in all of their talking, they constantly miss putting crucial items in my order like queso, drinks, and sides that I have paid for. It's very frustrating returning home to find out you're missing half of your meal or something like a small queso that can add a solid $3 to a $10 meal. Not to mention, when I say I'm there for pickup and am clearly waiting for these high schoolers to finish up since the BOH has finished up the entrees and I can see them on the counter, they continue to gossip and take their sweet times (and yet still forget items of my order). I'm not sure what's going on, but I know a few years ago this kind of stuff would've never flown with management. FOH staff seems to be more avoidant of customers rather than welcoming and quick to help like they used to be. This is a real upset considering this has been such a staple for me and friends since this location opened many years ago. Let me start by saying that this review was from our latest experience several weeks ago...sometimes I have to think about it before I write it! First I will say that I was pleased that the management reached out to me and offered me an incentive to come back and give them a try again. Any establishment that reaches out to their customer certainly deserves a second chance. I will say that on the second go around I picked a time that they would be a little busier than the last and I must say that the service was a 150% improvement! The line was moving smoothly and it took 1 time to place my order and we paid promptly. My only complaint on the service would be that again, never did anyone come out to the patio to see if we needed another drink refill or another beer. When we went in to ask for to go containers someone came outside, took our food, packaged it up and said "I've refilled your guacamole and gave you extra chips for later". Much to my surprise later..that was not the case, just a full bag of chips. Now for the food...acceptable, nothing to rave about but nothing to complain about. Again, a huge improvement from last time. In all honesty I will say that it's not the place that will come to mind when wanting Mexican food. read more

We thoroughly enjoy Tijuana Flats! A friend introduced me in 2007 and I have loved it ever since. I think it's far better than it's competitors Moe's and Chipolte. My order hasn't strayed in 10+ years; always a Megajuana Black Bean Burrito, on Wheat, Powerlite. What I have recently learned! Is that you can munch on Chips & Queso (appetizer) before your food comes, and the queso can be refilled throughout your visit. Which means! You don't need to pay the $0.99 up-charge to "wet" your entree with queso - just use your appetizer and ask for more! Each Tijuana Flats has a sauce bar with sauces ranging from mild to ridiculously hot. Some of these sauces are bottled for you to take home. Each Tijuana Flats also displays painted ceiling tiles (look up!) along with pictures of autographed celebrity pics when they visited a TF themselves. It's a groovy feel with the lighting, and usually 90s grunge or rock music is playing. Their atmosphere is definitely unique! read more

Yes, it's a chain but the staff is so nice and attentive (almost too attentive, like, run ahead of you to open the door attentive) you wouldn't know it. The food is great but can be a little slow to come out (the place gets very busy on Tuesday and weekend nights). Ordering online or over the phone is easier but they always tell you to jump the line when you do that and because of the setup of the restaurant, it is very awkward to do so. The parking lot is way too small (esp now that Jersey Mike's is next door) but the hassle is worth it! read more

Good food, good people. Love the call ahead ordering to save waiting there. This is no Taco Bell, and it doesn't try to be as far as speed - you do have to wait ~10 min, but not bad at all (that's the intention). It's order at the counter and full service after that, if you dine in. The staff here are friendly and quick to get the orders out. Good quality of food here, on par with Tijuana brand. Love the Tostadas, all the way (lettuce, tomatoes, onion, jalapeño). Still the HOTTEST jalapeños I've found - I like the outdoor seating area but the sauce bar is situated in an awkward small hallway leading back to the bathrooms. I think the design of the place was poor and the patio was an afterthought. The restaurants on Fleming Island are troopers, especially those that are not in the Publix/Target complex concentration. This place is situated way down by Kohls, but thankfully has a few entrances to enter. Due to large roads and poor planning most places are hard to get to, but thankfully this is not one of them. This place was uh-mazing!!! I happened to come on a night where there was live music playing outside, so of course, I sat outside! The talent was great that night and there was a man walking around making balloon animals for the kids for tips. (Had my nieces with me at the time and they were absolutely thrilled.) Although the place was packed, there was not much of a wait for our food. The chips and queso were very delicious. It's actually a good thing that we got the "trio" with the smaller sized queso because I probably could've finished off the bigger one on my own! I had the chicken tacos and my nieces ordered the beef tacos and chimichanga. I'll admit, I snuck bites of their food when they had their heads turned! Over all it was a very enjoyable night. Unbelievably good customer service! I was very impressed with how much help they provided as it was my first visit. The first-timer's sampler is great because it allows one to sample a variety of salsas, the cheese dip and the guacamole. I've had better cheese dip but this one is good. Their standard salsa is the best of those I sampled. I really like the chips. I was told that the guacamole was a new recipe. Since this was my first time, I have no idea what the old recipe tasted like. I am not a fan of this version. Funny how their exceptional service allowed me to overlook the guac and the cheese dip. The blackened chicken flautas were one of the entrees that was recommended and what I ended up ordering. They were DELICIOUS! I will return! read more

Disgusting!!! Not sure what the hoopla is about this franchise as hubby and I ate here and he is a huge burrito fan than I am. I mainly went here as he wanted to check it out since it is so close to home, yeaaaaa!!! Well you walk in, they take your order and you have a sit down till they call your name around all the loud music that's playing. There are all these neat flavors to try on your burrito if you like. I felt as if I was at someone's house that just started to learn how to cook burritos and kept failing. Taco Bell kept looking even more delicious as I sat there in this small, congested, place. Home of my Taco Tuesday!! Really great staff here. Any Tijuana you goto you can expect to find great workers there. The people here grab the door when you come in. What you don't see is the speed walking to grab that door. The food is great and seems fresh too. Every time I go i get fresh chips and if they're not fresh they have no problem switching them out. This place is freaking fantastic. We had just had a horrible, horrible experience eating at La Nopalera (which we now call LA NOPE) in Orange Park because we moved here and wanted Mexican food. We wanted to try another place, and MAN did this hit a home run! For a "quick" restaurant, the service here is incredible. The girls (and guys) that work here have a fantastic attitude, they are quick - helpful - always smile - just great! The food was fantastic too. See, I am from Texas. If you can't slop everything together in one damn pile and it not taste amazing, it's not good. This place delivers. But lately I've been wanting to try new places or retry places I should say so I went and tried Tijuana flats again. I ordered a regular carnitas burrito with queso on it. What made me give it four stars was there was hardly any meat in the burrito it was mostly just the tortilla and the fixings in it. If I had known that would have ordered the large with extra meat. Needed a summer night-it's-too-hot-to-cook-so-can-we-please-eat-out dinner. Funky vibe, great music (not a single Bieber or Gaga tune), and very friendly service. Think college bar meets tex-mex cantina. Kids were happy with a taco & quesadilla (in my mind I always say it like Napoleon Dynamite). Side offerings applesauce or M&Ms.... Uhm let me see, yeah the decision wasn't difficult. I ordered the beef taco otherwise known as gran culo taco. That thing is twice the size of a normal person taco! Loaded up minus jalapeño peppers because admittedly I am a wimp and can't hang with spicy. Hubby got the chimichanga with a side of rice and beans. They also offer a buffet of spicy sauces with names like "slap my a$$ and call me Sally" which my 9 year old found hilarious and felt the need to walk by a few times to investigate. The chips tasted crispy and freshly made but my kids thought they were spicy. If Moe's is your favorite haunt then think of this as his crazy hippie Aunt who has a kick. I swear that there is 3 locally owned places but they are all closed on Monday. Ok so I walked in and they were very happy to see me. I went for some tostadas with beef, bean, onions, and anything else that they could fine. These were actually pretty good but they were quite stingy with the beef. So I hate to say this because I actually love the food at this chain. But i am totally discussed with my last visit. I order my normal chicken salad with beans and half way into enjoying my meal I stumble over a 2 inch month it was larger than ever pice of lettuce that was in my salad. Therefore, it should not have been missed in the preparation of my food. I'm quite appalled and disgusted and I can't believe this has happened at one of my favorite places to eat. Needless to say I won't be eating here for a while. Hopefully they can redeem themselves. Just a word of caution to all you new comers check your food before you bite.
