Seafood Ceasar: so big we split it! Yummmmm

What can you say about a Staple in Redondo Beach that the whole family loves. You know it's a cozy spot, Low lights, infinity walls before it was a thing. Close to the site so we hit the Pier and had a cool evening! Seafood on point we had some Steamed clams but ate them prior to the photo. The broth on that is amazing! Our waiter was super cool and his table attendant was always there each time something was empty. Didn't even have to ask. The service is amazing

We had an amazing lunch at Old Tony's. We did go at off hours which gave us our choice of seat overlooking the water, and fast service. Loved the atmosphere, with the music and decorations. Their lunch combo was such a good deal too. Best of all our oysters and calamari were so fresh.

Franky made our day-drinking-with-a-gorgeous-view lunch a hit! We both had the beef sliders which seriously tasted like we were at a summertime barbecue! YUM!! The fries were tasty and our drinks were strong and tasty. Franky kept an eye on us and provided great service as we laughed and had a great time. Over all a lovely lunch with a good friend, good friend and a great view up top.

My wife & I came here for dinner. It was delightful. We came here when we were dating many moons ago! The service by Lauren was fantastic. The food tasted delicious. The atmosphere by the water was incredible! We will definitely come back when in the area.

It's old! Old Tony's is old.! OK! Not old, Maybe iconic? Maybe weathered? Maybe? Maybe? Maybe? One thing is for sure! You will get old fashioned pours. If you are a whiskey or vodka drinker you will know what I mean. You will bet a fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean looking westward You will get a great view of Redondo Beach and the Redondo Beach Pier. Prices of the beverages follow the current market. Nothing too cheap or nothing to expensive- just normal. Minimum seats; Maybe 24 maximum so know that before getting up to their entrance. You will need to careful when going up and down to get in or out of Old Tony's . Don't say I didn't warn you!

A bit disappointing. Wife was wanting crab. Was on their 'market price' board but we were told they haven't had crab in months. Shortage? I got my studded shrimp. Delish. She got the sea bass. Was just ok. Not a fan of the clam chowder. Salad was really good with their house dressing. Will be back but will call to be sure they have crab. Great service.

Had a brief, wonderful time there! I say brief because we only stopped by for a drink. The views were incredible and the service was fast. I would definitely want to go back for dinner.

A South Bay favorite restaurant! The food is always fresh, the service is always hospitable and timely, the ocean is the best ambiance ever! Today we shared clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. Perfect when visiting or bringing visitors from out of town. I can't say enough about Old Tony's - highly recommend!

I would say come here for the vibes, views, and nostalgia. The food is ok, but pretty overpriced for what it is. I got the coconut shrimp lunch combo, which came with clam chowder and a side. The clam chowder was pretty good. I appreciated that the table bread came with whipped butter. The coconut shrimps were fine but I made the mistake of getting "veggies" as my side. It was steamed broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots, but the kind that you get from a steamed bag from the frozen grocery aisle.. I'll stick with fries next time. The combo was $24, was one of the more affordable things on the menu. I got a window seat though, which opened right out to the water, so it was worth it to just hear the waves and enjoy the atmosphere during lunch. The servers were nice and attentive. I'd go again, maybe for sunset, and just expect to pay beach prices for average food.

My seafood fettuccine -Tonys on the Pier
    Richard L.

I first came to Tony's on the Pier with my parents in the 70s. The last time was in the late 80s. I ended up living in the West San Fernando Valley so Redondo Beach became a schlep for us. So it was a treat to go once again with friends from Long Beach. We had the best time. Melik was our server and he was outgoing and cheerful. He never rushed us. Our meals were good. They came with soup and salad. We ordered drinks and there was bread placed on the table. The food was abundant, warm and flavorful. The clam chowder was excellent as was the smoky salmon chowder. I had the seafood fettuccine. There were large shrimps and crab meat. So good. I took half of it home. The place is old school decor but really fun. We had a great table and good service. Great views of the beach and parts of the pier. Parking is in the lot. That gets crowded. Try this place. It's fun!

The views are good from upstairs, the bartenders are nice, but the food left something to be desired. For the price you pay on appetizers, one would think the food was freshly made in-house, sadly the food is not very good. The food comes across like something you would find in the freezer section of the grocery store. The order of coconut shrimp was dark brown, soggy with oil, and tasted like it had been pulled from a plastic freezer bag. Not at all what I was expecting. Being that this place is literally a stones throw from a fresh seafood market, I would think the menu would reflect fresh and local catch options. I'll continue my search for good food, at a reasonable price because this place isn't it, no matter how bad I wanted it to be.

This place holds a special place in my heart. My parents came here when they were dating and have taken us for years. I loved that I was able to bring my mom back with my future husband. Love the vibes--same rustic vibes as I remember it. Food is good. Service was good from the bartender to our waitress. My mom ordered the dish she has ordered every time since--baked halibut. She was in heaven. I ordered the charbroiled halibut. Definitely left Tony's with 6 Tony's glasses--always get the their famous Mai tai!

I could drink the chimichurri sauce it came with and the meat was tender and cooked to perfection * mole blanco enchiladas - chicken Machacha, queso, chipotle pepitas, arroz de tomatillo and frijoles Nevro . 9.5/10 and I fear I will never want to have mole any other way. I also got a complimentary dessert of choice for my birthday. I opted for the fried ice cream (horchata flavored) which was divine and the perfect sweet treat to end the meal. The ambiance is lively, I recommend to sit outdoors as several other restaurants have live music and great to people watch. Huge compliments to the chef and to our incredible waiter, Peter, who was attentive and provided the best recommendations. Would definitely come back to explore more of the menu.

If you don't feel like a tiki drink they also have a few beers on tap or canned. PAINKILLER: Pussers navy rum, Pussers gunpowder rum, Goslings 151, coconut, pineapple, orange, bitters. And Hubbers suggested this place for a late-ish lunch because he's been here before and had a positive experience. Outdoor seating only since we had the furballs. We had our choice of where since we were the only customers on a late lunch hour. Servers were so patient with our pups (even when they were moody - my apologies!) and were even nice enough to bring them water bowls! It was a cool and cloudy day, but that didn't damper anything. In fact, we appreciated it coming off the heat wave from the last couple of weeks! Everything on their menu looked so good, it took me awhile to decide. But Hubbers and I agreed on the Kayak Tide Tray (+4 extra oysters) and the charred watermelon salad. In the meanwhile, I battled between lobster pasta and five dragon pastrami. (The pasta won out.) Hubbers went for the cedar planked Ora king salmon. And a couple of cocktails to wash it all down! KAYAK TIDE TRAY: The seasoned scallops were my favorites, hands down. The sauce was fantastic and didn't overpower the scallops' main essence. The oysters were shucked fresh and the sauces elevated the flavors a bit. Shrimps were chilled tender and had a nice chew. Cocktail sauce added flavor. The mussels? Sad to say, but half of them were served still frozen hard. So we took our time with it and let it thaw out which didn't happen until we were halfway our meal. Overall: excellent. CHARRED WATERMELON: This plate was so well put together! And not only is it pleasing to the eyes (nice touch with the micros!), it was the same with the palate. Watermelon was fresh. Charred only on one side (I'm curious what it would be like if they charred ALL the sides - will make this request - only if possible - next time!) Taking bites from each component of this salad makes all the difference: the acidity of the tomatoes are tempered by the burrata and the cucumbers, and the freshness of the watermelon makes it all refreshing. The onions added a bit of tart, as did the pomegranates. Didn't notice any macadamia nuts, but no matter! This is a must have! LOBSTER PASTA: Didn't happen... see below. LOBSTER ROLL: Served along with Hubbers' salmon plate (more on that later.) We had a different server at this point (our first one told us he was going on his break.) I thought Hubbers put in an order of this too, so I moved the plate to his side. Our server noticed this and said, "Are you sharing? Would you like an extra plate?" Hubbers confirmed he didn't other this. And that neither did I, but we are waiting on the lobster pasta. He then explained they are out of that dish, "was this not related to you?" Long story short, I told him I'd take the roll, no biggie. He offered to comp it, and if I like, I can put in another order. So I went for the pastrami. And as we waited for that, Hubbers and I split this and WOW. Bread was toasted and buttered perfect, generous with the amount of lobster, plating was a delight to the eyes, and overall delicious. I appreciated the aroma of the tarragon. Yum! FIVE DRAGON PASTRAMI: This is a generous serving, plenty to share with another. Lots of flavors with each bite but the well-seasoned and flavored pastrami dominates them all. The slaw was strong but the subtleness of the lappi balanced it out. Sourdough was perfectly toasted. I thought about not ordering this since I knew the lobster roll might have been enough, but I'm sure glad I went for it! Delish! Hubbers let me have a couple of bites off his salmon plate and O.M.G.!!! He sure picked a good one! Skin was seasoned crispy and the fish was so moist! This is probably one of the best versions of salmon I've had. (For the record, I rarely order anything salmon since 90-95% of the time, they're served dry, but this one here, I'd highly recommend.) FOOD: 4.75. SERVICE: 5. They were AMAZING!!! VALUE: 4. Given the location, pricing is understandable. But worth it. PARKING: Street/Structure only. All metered. And getting here will require a bit of a walk depending on where you parked. OVERALL: 4.5. Plans on coming back here with more people is now in the works. Looking forward to doing that soon!

You can tell the chefs are dedicated to the craft. They're a 2025 bib gourmand restaurant and are hoping to aim for their first star, so their efforts into the decor, ambiance, and food shows (good luck!). The waitstaff/chefs were also very attentive. Mussels Tart - really delicious. Super unique and beautifully plated. No taste of fishiness or the ocean. Just overall a 5/5 dish that you must try. Beef tongue - I normally enjoy beef tongue thinly sliced at a Korean BBQ restaurant or coarsely chopped up in a street taco. They do it differently here. The beef tongue is one big cube. It's very flavorful and tender. Not as amazing as the mussels tart but still worth a try. Chili crab - this put them on the map. SUPER DELICIOUS. It's not what you'd expect from a creation called 'chili crab'. There's no shell to be seen and the crab meat is actually buried underneath. Scoop from the inside out. Tons of flavor and I wished the portion size was doubled. Lamb pappardelle - if you like lamb then you'll love this. Lots of different spices and flavors. It has a very deep flavor profile that makes you appreciate all the work and thought that went into designing this dish. I'd get this again also! Strawberry tiramisu - they brought this out for the birthday celebration. They prepared it in a gigantic bowl. Scooped out a generous portion and plated it right in front of us. I have a soft spot for tiramisu so I'd recommend this too. Best of luck on the Michelin star! I'd come back. 5/5

I really wanted to love this place. I read all the glowing…read morereviews and convinced myself the negative ones were probably just misunderstandings... but wow, I had it completely backwards. First, the restaurant itself is undeniably cute and cozy, tucked away in a corner of Hermosa Beach. Our first impression was honestly great, and we were excited to try it. Our reservation was at 5:00 PM, but when we arrived, the staff was still inside having what looked like a team huddle or group therapy session well past opening time. At first I thought maybe I got the hours wrong and they actually opened at 5:30. Nope -- 5:00 was correct. I understand pre-shift meetings happen. But maybe do the motivational speech at 4:50 instead of making customers stand outside after your posted opening time? They finally opened the doors around 5:10. Once seated, our server introduced himself by saying he was also one of the chefs, and apparently everyone dressed in white both cooks and serves. I didn't really understand the concept, but honestly, I don't care who brings the food as long as the food is good. These are what we ordered: SQUID -- This tasted like it had been marinated directly in seawater. Painfully salty. I genuinely did not understand the dish at all. Boiled squid with egg salad? Why? The portion was tiny, and we were hungry, so we basically used the mussels tart to dilute the salt enough to finish it. MUSSELS TART -- Actually delicious. No complaints here. BISTRO SALAD -- This was honestly shocking. It was SO sour that it was practically inedible. -- we literally take straight lemon shots every morning but this dish was hard to eat. This wasn't "bright acidity." This was weaponized vinegar. Bitter, aggressively sour, and tongue-numbing after one bite. We had to send it back because it was simply not edible. CABBAGE -- Flavor was good overall, but parts of it were so burnt that I genuinely questioned whether it was intentional or someone forgot it existed in the kitchen. Maybe it's culinary art I'm too uncultured to understand. FISH DIANE -- Delicious. No complaints at all. What ultimately made us decide we won't return wasn't even the inconsistent food -- it was the attitude. They still charged us for the salad we literally could not eat after sending it back. Then the couple next to us asked to keep one menu because they planned to order more later. One of the servers told them not to leave it on the table because she didn't want the menu to get dirty. The menu was a single flimsy printed paper menu. Not leather-bound. Not handmade parchment from the 1700s. Just printer paper. The whole experience felt oddly pretentious for a place serving burnt cabbage and acid salad. Some dishes were genuinely good, but the hospitality felt nonexistent and the food was wildly inconsistent. Cute restaurant, but definitely not somewhere we'd return to.
