    Goat Curry and Samosa Chaat

We ordered delivery from here for the first time and it was good. Food traveled well and good portion. Only bad thing is the menu is limited for delivery. For starters we chose the garlic naan bread and Samosa Chaat. The garlic naan bread tasted old and was really hard to eat. Samosa Chaat was good but could be better. For entree we had the goat curry and that was delicious and perfectly spiced with basmati rice.

One of the best Indian restaurants in the Gainsvelle area. Pre-ordered some tandoori and chicken biryani; great portions, amazing flavors and overall delicious food. Will definitely come back!

Take-out Date Night! Easy quick pick up. Smells so good.

Tikka Express, I was VERY excited; I like Indian food. I wanted to say Yummy!! Per my incident, I ordered from the menu, but maybe you should follow the host's advice and have food from the all-day buffet deal. From my initial experience, the vibe at Tikka Express is a buffet-style focus. Maybe the handmade signage everywhere advertising the Buffet special for less than $10 also gave it away. Seemly amiable host, I found it interesting how he pushed the Buffet first. The overall location is a hole-in-a-wall dive in the university area. It seems grungy at first, but the place is clean, and outdoor seating is available. If a parallel parking spot in the front is too much, there is more accessible parking in the back alley and a back door entrance. The menu is vast with variety and seems easy to read. The food, moderately priced for quality compared to others in town. Probably should have stuck to the Buffet, I read great reviews, but I had the following: - Vegetable Samosa for Starters - Deep fried and crunchy craving satisfied! - Chicken Biryani for dinner - Huge portion! I was expecting a Saffron-flavored basmati rice dish; what I got was a clash of flavors too intense for my tastebuds. The disarray of dry rice, overcooked chicken pieces, and crunchy spices/bites of cloves throughout made this an unedible dish for my taste. - Garlic Naan - Any Problems? Naan, it was great!! I will consider checking out again, ordering something different because maybe it was just a lousy rice day. I might do the Buffet!

Food was great! We ordered and stepped out to bring the car to the front of the business as to not have to cross the street again, and the guy who took our order actually brought the food out to the car. It also very quick service. So nice! I will definitely back. We had the Tikka Marsala with rice and garlic naan

Delicious, inexpensive Indian food on University Avenue. The front desk staff are always friendly and have good recommendations. The only thing is I wish the dishes could be more spicy.

Only one other couple was dining in, and there were a lot of take out orders being picked up. The place was well-lit, clean, and had ample space. We were greeted and seated almost immediately. Scout was our waitress and Deepak was the host. Menu has all the Indian cuisine staples that we expected - we ordered 3 orders of garlic naan, fried rice with veggies and egg, chicken tikka masala, aloo gobi (potato & cauliflower side dish ) - all with medium spiciness - with mango lassi and masala Chai tea for drinks. While waiting for our orders, we washed our hands and the single-occupancy restrooms were clean and stocked. The only downside to the facilities in general are the slightly hard chairs / benches as these were possibly made with the intention of not spending too much time in the restaurant or for people with more natural padding in that area . The naan arrived about 10 minutes later, followed by the rest of the food. The naan was excellent - just the way we like it (not too soft, not too crunchy, with enough garlic oil for taste). The basmati rice was cooked just right in the individual bowls and also in the generous portion of the fried rice. It was my first time trying the aloo gobi, and I loved it! I never knew about this dish, and my husband said it was a must try. I also tasted his chicken tikka masala, and it was also made deliciously. The drinks were also great - mango lassi was fresh and not too sweet. Masala Chai tea was exactly how I imagined it would be. Overall, we spent around 1 hour and about $100 on our date here, including generous tip. We are glad to be repeat customers to try more dishes, and of course, enjoy more garlic naan .

It was highly recommended to me by a lot of my Gainesville friends, so I finally went to compare it with Indian Cuisine, Amrit Palace, and Indian Aroma. I can confidently say it's either slightly better, or on par, with Indian Aroma, and significantly better than Amrit/Cuisine. Only slightly better because the array of food you can get here is larger and a bit cheaper, but I do think Indian Aroma's butter chicken is still the best I've ever had. I got the varutharacha chicken curry combo, and it felt like an absolute steal for the amount of food and the price. My entire friend group went non-verbal as we chowed down into our dosas and food, and while I've never had varutharacha curry before, the flavor and savoriness blew my mind. The samosa was thick, crunchy, and filled with delicious veggie interior, and the chicken was soft, juicy, and slid right off the bone. The dosas were crisp, and paired excellently with their sauces. We ripped, we shredded, we came, we conquered, we devoured. The food coma after eating everything was so, so worth it. Service was great, and we were kindly greeted by two workers at the front who got us drinks fast and took our orders as soon as we were ready. They were very friendly, and as the front desk is semi-facing the restaurant, we could catch either of their eye whenever we wanted or needed something and they'd come right over. Overall, love this place, and will be back to try so much more.

When walking in, they had some old school Bollywood music videos. My order was taking quickly and I waited for about 10 minutes for my order. Once I got home, the food was still piping hot. I ordered the chana masala, which comes with basmati rice, and an order of samosas. The samosas were perfectly cooked and seasoned. They had a hint of spice but tolerable. The two sauces - tamarind and chutney were so good with the samosas. I wish I ordered more. The chana masala was very tasty, I went with medium heat since it was first time eating here. The spice was really good, I could've went hotter though. The masala was buttery and delightful. I could've drank the sauce it was that good. The chickpeas were cooked perfectly as well. The flavor profile of the dish was tangy but creamy. I wish I had some chicken tikka to throw in there. Overall a great take out meal and great portion sizes where you can stretch out these meals.

The atmosphere is beautiful and I always feel like I have walked into a different kind dining experience. It's relaxing and a lot nicer than many of the local restaurants around here. I feel that it has a quiet nuanced feel that is simply elegant. I ordered the Create your own course because I wanted more. I was in time for the lunch special that they serve Tuesday-Thursday from 11-3 but that wasn't what I was looking for. When coming here I just wanted to enjoy my idea of the meal I can create. The create your own course is just that and for $40.99 you receive an "appetizer, entree, dessert served with two sides, naan or tandoori roti and sauce. If you would like an additional entree and two sides it's only an additional $16.99. Extremely reasonable for the amount of food you receive and how well the food is prepared and the service you get here. My favorite is the Chicken Vindaloo which is Chicken, chili, tomato and it has a little coconut in it. It's a spicy dish but a little tangy too. I love that the heat is flavorful and not overpowering that you cannot taste all the spices in the dish. The tandoori roti I enjoy thoroughly it pairs very well with this dish, I've had the Peshawari naan which is filled with cherries, coconut flakes, cashews and raisins and this is so different and delicious more of a dessert you must try too. I also had the chick pea salad and this is a mix of chick peas, lettuce, red onion, cherry tomatoes and cilantro. Nothing out of this world but refreshing. Last time I was here I had the Samosa Chaat for a starter it was so good! It's a potato turnover with chickpeas layered with chopped onions, yogurt, tamarind, mint chutney, and so flavorful! The Dal soup is also very nice it's a smooth mild soup made with yellow split pea lentils, some ginger and just the right amount of garlic. So many choices here and I'll keep coming back so I can be sure to try everything in the menu at least a few times! I have had dessert and I really enjoyed this as well wanting to try something different than I can get in most restaurants so I tried the Gulab Jamun that is a deep fried dumpling soaked in a sweet syrup that is infused with rose water and coconut. I don't know what to expect but I absolutely loved this and it wasn't as sweet as I thought it might be it was very pleasant and a mild flavor but truly delicious! Other than the food , the service is always really nice here, it's just a very nice experience coming to Amrit you feel lot's of peace and tranquility while dining. Highly recommend visiting Amrit you will not be disappointed!
