I saw this place referred to as the "Indian Chipotle," and I think that's spot on. This is a fast casual spot with accessible dishes like wraps, tacos and wings that should appeal to people who aren't quite sure about Indian food. I ordered the chicken tikka wrap, which was very good. I really enjoyed the dressing on the mango salad. The biryani wings were not quite the flavor bomb that was advertised. Went to Tikla Shack for my monthly work team lunch. I am not usually a big fan of Indian food. I studied the menu in advance and was ready to order. The restaurant itself is a cool spot, well lit, with a wide open dining room and refillable beverage station. I had the kabob bowl with tikla chicken. The two skewers of chicken were flavorful without being overpowered by spices. They came with Basmati rice and a salad topped with mango dressing. It came with a cup of Tikka sauce. We ate at Tikka Shack two days in a row and had great meals both days. The service was friendly, the Shack was clean and mostly comfortable (today, the music seemed too loud), and the drink choices -- the watermelon-mint especially were terrific. Tuesday has a special of a drink, Naan, and a rice and curry option. We had this yesterday and it seemed a good deal for $11. A similar meal today except for garlic Naan, rang up just over $19 which seemed too high by several dollars. Nonetheless, the food was great, was ready quickly, and I'm sure we'll be back. Whenever I'm craving an indowestern meal, I come here for the paneer tikka pizza and masala fries. The food is spicy, and their levels are definitely reflective of it. I had the impression that we walked inside a fast food restaurant instead of the typical restaurant we go into when we're having some cravings for masala. Since it's our first time going in there, and wont go back anytime soon, it took a moment for us to figure out what we wanted to try. The flavor is not bad. Not the best but not the worst. My husband and I like our food spicy so we asked for the most spicy they can make. It wasn't as spicy as expected. We're pretty much exposed to various regional Indian and Nepal dishes run mostly by mom and pop places so there is that. I've had better naan that are homemade. The garlic Naan they have is nothing to rave about. Butter chicken is okay, so is the masala, again, nothing to rave about. My husband was still hungry so we ordered for another Tikka Habanero wing, it wasn't because it was the best habanero wing he ever had, it was because the portions are so small. If you expect value for your money, the portions are small compared to what you paid for. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and when it comes to food, taste and flavor ultimately depend on an individual's preference. The menu is limited but offers a great variety including a devel into pizza Indian style. All the food is wonderful. We drive quite far to eat here. Their tikka masala sauce used to be amazing but they changed the recipe (corporate decision) It is still good but not AS good. Be very careful when ordering online. Make sure you quadruple check everything before hitting pay! We've had several problems. One was where the order was double ordered. Came in for lunch on Monday. I got a Vindaloo Curry with rice and garlic naan bread, which was excellent. It could've used a bit more peppers, but it was still tasty. My girlfriend got a kabob tikki combo, which had a salad with mango chunks that she really liked. We also got a mango lassi, that was creamy and delicious. Have frequented Tikka Shack a number of times since I've discovered it - great food, modern yet relaxed atmosphere. My favorite go-to dish is their Butter Chicken Masala - relatively mild, but with a little 'heat' and excellent flavor. Service is always good - not 'fast food' but my orders always arrive quickly. The place is kind of like chipotle, but not really. You order at the counter and the food is brought out to you or you can take it to go. Tikka Shack was the very first fast-casual Indian restaurant I've been to. I'm not surprised that it's franchised, but I feel a bit privileged when I found out this is only the 4th location and the only one in PA (the other 3 are in TX and AZ). This could be the beginning of something big. Everything about Tikka Shack feels "corporately blessed" - from the name, menu, to interior design and operation, all appear to have been professionally vetted. The ambiance is trendy, clean, and inviting. For me anyway, the menu choices are straight forward. They try to model after "build-your-own" a la Chipotle, poke bowls, and playa bowls, but it really boils down to just "what kind of curry" and "what kind of protein." Not counting appetizers and vegetarian, I am pretty much left with just curry, biryani, and kabob to choose from. On this first visit we ordered one of each, with mixed results. The Tikka Masala Curry with Chicken was underwhelming in every way: portion size, taste, and the meager amount of protein. The Chicken Biryani with spicy option was excellent as one of my favorites, but the star of the meal tonight was the Chicken Tikka Kabob Bowl. The dish looked really appealing, showcasing color palette from Basmati rice, sticks of kabob, garden salad and mango; the included naan was icing on the cake. The best value dish. Highly recommended. Service was excellent. The person taking orders was very friendly. We actually ordered online for later pickup, but the dishes were made more than an hour ago because the pickup time wasn't printed for the kitchen. She was kind to remake the dishes for us. We have visited Tikka Shack several times in the last year for both eat in and take out. We have always been satisfied. The portion sizes are good and the food is reasonably priced. The garlic naan is outstanding! For take out you can order online and schedule pick up. Our orders have always been done on time. If you eat in the dining area is clean and modern. It is a typical fast casual type atmosphere. Orders are brought to you table promptly and the staff has always been friendly. I recommend the Butter Paneer with Jasmin rice. Think twice about spending your hard earned money at this location. Mediocre food, filthy bathrooms, very poor customer service. Refused a reward redemption of naan on Tikka Tuesday. I've used my accumulated points on Tuesdays many times without a problem, no sign stating a change in policy. The very rude cashier had me run my card twice (she claimed 1st didn't go through) which doubled the amount of transaction, no receipt was given. Second charge finally dropped off my account the following day. When I attempted to call and speak with manager/owner about these issues, was hung up on. Twice. Just...don't. If you want anything near authentic Indian food, this is NOT the place. We got naan, chicken Biriyani, and the chicken tikka burrito thing with a mango salad on the side. Everything was blehhhhhh. The chicken tikka sauce that came with it is just SO tomato-y, I thought they dumped a jar of la Madeline's tomato basil soup in there and called it some tikka sauce. The biriyani has four pieces of boneless chicken and had a tiny bit of flavor with the spring onions, but it was pretty damn bland. The sauce that cake with it was disgusting and the raita (yogurt) was just not good. They added carrots to their raita. The naan is the only redeemable quality...sorta. It's as thin as a tortilla and looks like it, but the texture is still a naan texture. But naan should be more fluffy and much bigger than the tiny tortilla looking thing we got. I'm so mad we came here because we were road tripping and hungry for some food and saw the almost 5 stars. What a disappointment. There was an entire chili and bay leaf in it though, not sure if that's the norm. Maybe I just got the bottom of the barrel. I like spice but didn't care for the dish at all. And the "veggie" option seems to mean you get a tablespoon of peas and/or carrots. The main flavor of the chicken 65 was salt. Then, a kind of burnt/charred flavor. Hopefully neither is intentional. They didn't skimp on the spring mix garnish, thank god (sarcasm). The garlic naan smelled great on the drive home, but wasn't as good as "real" naan from any other Indian spot. AMAZING FOOD. We got the korma masala and the Southern curry. SO rich in flavor, packs a punch (we got the "hot" option and it was spicey for sure which was great). We also got a side of garlic naan that was super fresh garlicky. Best naan I've ever had. If I lived near here I would 1000% come here all the time. The customer service was also amazing. The cashier explained the menu to us and we talked to her a bit about the establishment. The owners happened to be eating with their families in the restaurant and she had so much praise to say about them. Have visited Tikka Shack couple of times, since it's opening. Modern and clean interiors. Even though some friends had said that parking spots are less, I didn't have any issues. Most of the tables were occupied during my visits. Ordering system is easy. The people taking the order were patient, while everyone goes through the choices trying to make up their mind. My favorite is masala fries. I also liked the Chicken Tikka Masala. I didn't like Chicken 65 - way too spicy for me. Agreed, this dish is supposed to be spicy, but not to the level that it numbs your taste buds. Love the concept of fast food style indian food. Will definitely continue to visit. read more

Nice new addition to the restaurant scene along the Pike! We stopped by the Tikka Shack for dinner and were very pleased with our visit. We were greeted by the manager/own and explained how the menu works and also provided with several recommendations. The format is similar to the various, "build your own" restaurants that have been popping up in the area, except this is focused on Indian food, where you "craft your curry". You can select your base, protein, and curry style to build your entrée. There are also "favorites" on the menu that one can select if they do not wish to create their own. Additionally, there are several "fusion" items offered such as tikka fries and tikka pizza. We sampled the butter chicken (menu item) and a craft your own curry dish (goan vindaloo). Both dishes were very flavorful and seasoned nicely. I was impressed with the large portion size for the price. The naan bread and tikka fries were also very good. This type of "quick-serve" Indian food is much appreciated and more cost effective than several other sit-down restaurants in the area. Throughout our visit the manager checked on us several times and spot checked the restaurant to maintain its cleanliness. We will definitely visit again in the future. read more

The shrimp 65 and pepper paneer. I asked for a medium heat level. I'd rate the heat level at about a 7/10. I was able to eat it, but mildly hotter than anticipated. I enjoyed both dishes.
