I haven't seen many reviews for this place so I wanted to add one here for it. If you're in Bee Cave, TX this is a must try. The food is fantastic. I had the Adobo Chicken Tacos and I will say they were some of the best tacos I've ever had. So full of flavor, chicken grilled perfectly and was so juicy and tender with creamy cheese all in an organic, fresh-made soft taco (also lightly grilled) topped with guacamole and a side of salsa. So delicious! I also had the cauliflower Elote and, again, flavor explosion, super creamy and perfectly seasoned. This place is on point. If I lived here I'd be eating here all the time. Had a great time but at the end of service beyond them turning the lights off on a dozen guests 15-20 minutes before actual close time, their credit card reader went down (not a power outage?. They had me fill out a form and stapled the bill. 78.48 was the bill. I added a $10 tip. For a completely different reason I was perusing my statement and saw an additional $56 charge occurred on my card from the same restaurant. There surprisingly aren't a lot of nicer places to go around Bee Cave/Lakeway for date night but we found this place and it's perfect! Nice views from deck on a Wednesday afternoon . Out of ingredients for the Beekeeper drink I wanted so just got a beer. Trio of dips appetizer ok but no spice at all. Recommend for a low salt diet. Contrasting that, the smash burger had plenty of salt. Good double patty burger. $19.50 (Spring, 2025). Waitress got the cook to add lettuce, tomato and a couple of pickles, which normally are not included. read more

The Bee's Knees Meridian 98 is a posh lounge on the top floor of the Sonesta hotel which anyone can go up after 4 PM. Apparently they have music Wednesday and Thursday. The ambiance resembles a darkly lit London pub with leather seating and a wraparound outdoor deck with seating. We went up there twice during stay but only enjoyed drinks which were smashing. The menu has a few items and geared to Austin farm to table culture. The service was top notch and made us feel welcomed. Being in Bee Cave many mixed drinks are made with honey. There is no dress code but I suggest business casual to match all the wood and leather. I had no idea being 6 floors up at Bee Cave to what views you would have but can see miles around including Mansfield Dam. I was amazed. read more

This place has a great view - sunsets here are pretty if you get the right spot (where the balcony wraps around the bar). Service - slow but friendly Food - subpar. The fries here were great- crispy and full of flavor. It could have been elevated if they had any other dip other than ketchup (truffle aoli, chipotle mayo...anything). The pizza was lacking in flavor except for screaming fig butter in each bite. Overall just ok food. Drinks - they were generic, bar drinks. I would have expected them to be better. Neither Manhattan or lemon drop stood out, and I switched over to their dry wine rose which was a good choice. Parking - free and in the garage Ambiance - its lovely. Great views, and I liked the interior decor as well. This place has the basics down. If they added hanging plants, lights, better dips and drinks I think they would be a lot busier. read more

I'm updating my review-the restaurant was not busy at all, the service was awful, we sat and waited 15 minutes and no one came to us so I went and asked for a server and they told me in the bar area (we were not at the bar just sitting at a table area that was not marked as bar area) we had to order at the bar. Great. Someone should have said it when walking by me 15 times. The food was equivalent to airport fast food. The only good thing was the drinks. They were well made and decently priced. $140+ for this meal was unacceptable. McDonalds would've been better. The menu has shrunk and the food now sucks. read more

The wife and I wanted to go somewhere decent and somewhat relaxing and quiet to sit and have a few appetizers and a few drinks but were overtaken in the bar area by a company party that had the complete other side reserved for their party. The party completely took over the bar once their drinks stopped flowing on their side that they had reserved. No regards for others around them, those guests put their empty glasses on our table area where our food and drinks were. Disrespectful and rude to say the least. Pissed off and irritated we paid the tab and left. Complete bullshit. If you reserve a complete side of a venue stay on your side without disturbing others' evening! If you show up at Meridian and there is a reserved party on one side turn around and leave! It's not worth the disturbance of your evening! read more

First things first, The View from the outdoor deck is phenomenal. This alone is worth a visit. In addition, the staff have personally provided great service- welcoming and friendly. I must say the wine selection is quite constrained. Otherwise, the drinks and liquor selection are good. Stumbled upon Meridian 98 by accident. Our apartment flooded from a plumbing issue and we needed somewhere to stay a couple nights. Sonesta was nearby and to our delight Meridian 98 was the rooftop restaurant/bar there! It's very relaxed, good drinks and selection of food. The view is really the highlight! The fall menu was incredible!! The shrimp with local honey and the flat bread pizza!! The best part of this place is that everything is sourced in Texas so you are kind of supporting local which I like. The view is nice from the top so I'd say it's a super cute date spot. This rooftop bar serves up quality cocktails and offers a beautiful balcony over looking the hill country. The bartenders and servers were awesome and made sure we had everything we needed. Inside there's big comfy leather seats, fire places, and huge windows. Outside is the balcony with plenty seating and humongous fire lanterns to keep warm. Now the inside scoop on Meriden 98, first I never thought menu entrees looked this good and tastes delicious. I decided to have the Wrapped Bacon Shrimp a must with jalapenos the chef put this together with expertise....this is a rooptop lounge and people come after work to enjoy the beautiful views and sunsets. The Executive chef Pat Newman shares dishes that are freshly made and locally by Texas organic farms and seafood a major plus. The Heirloom tomatoe and watermelon salad was amazing and Tamarind Vinaigrette a dash of basil and mint. You crave it after tasting this salad.....incredible. planning to order another round of entrees this week. If you want a bar drink It recommmend the "Beekeeper" I love it definitely am returning and there is live music is a major plus. You will love it... I promise! This place has great views and wonderful ambiance. They have some tasty signature cocktails and some good snacks. I had the pulled pork grilled cheese, and while the sandwich was ok - the name was misleading. This is a toasted pulled pork sandwich with one piece of cheese. I was disappointed because the name gave me a completely different expectation. Our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive. Overall, a nice place to watch the sunset. read more

First off we love the 6th floor and the views it provides...but better then the view is the service provided by Jessie. She is always helpful, smiling and checks on us often. We use Meridian 98 as our go to spot for celebrations as the drinks have a local flair and are very good....we do wish they'd expand the menu but find the taco's to be well sized, charcuterie board put together well and the bacon wrapped shrimp our go to all the time. Do wish they would add back in the dollop of honeycomb though to the platter. Word of advice though---the hotel is a destination for wedding parties and other celebrations so Yes the bar can get pretty active. Jessie rules! read more

Came here for the sunset view since we were in the area. Had a couple of drinks watching the sun set very quickly on a glorious night and the drinks were ok. The house margarita was way sweet, but it was tolerable. I got a drink with vodka and strawberries that was good and then we got candied pecans that were quite tasty! (this is a copy paste from my google review) The Sonesta is near our home and this past Sunday we decided to try out their Sunday Brunch at their top floor restaurant Meridian 98 (never been there before). We arrived around 10am. The restaurant was nearly empty, maybe 3 tables of breakfasteers. One of my two stars is for the view. The wrap around floor to ceiling windows leading out onto the outdoor dining deck was pleasing to both of us. First thing I noticed was there was almost as many staff as customers and no one was their to greet us/direct us to a table/buffet. We waited 3-5 minutes and someone cleaning tables outside noticed us and told us to sit wherever. My wife found the plates before I did for the buffet. They were square plates large enough to stack toast on it, but not big enough for eggs, potatoes, bacon and sausage, not to mention the different bread items (and that was their large plate, they also had a smaller plate you could manage 2 cookies on if you were careful.). Sometimes a detail like the postage stamp sized plates can be managed if everything else is amazing. The next breakfast-gone-bad detail I discovered after I returned from the buffet to sample their different foods is that everything I selected, quarter waffle, bacon, sausage, potatoes and the syrup in the nice porcelain pitcher was all room temperature. Not even "warm", just room temperature. When the server came to the table with our orange juice I mentioned this to her. She said she would speak to her manager. Near the end of our meal another woman who seemed in charged brought us our check. I thought "Oh, some kind of acknowledgement we just spent $32 on breakfast that might have been cooked 4 hours ago." The manager asked about the complaint I made about the room temperature food and I repeated what I told our server. She seemed engaged and after she left I looked at the check. Still $32. The one food item they cooked to order was the omlet and I'm admittedly high maintenance about those sort of things. They nailed the omlet, so for that they get their second star. It's a nice hotel and a Meridian 98 has classy ambiance and a great view, but the manager's indifference to a cold breakfast, the tiny chairs and tiny plates doesn't rise to the level of a 2nd visit. read more

I really enjoyed the scenery, mushroom flatbread, and the wine. It was comfortable to sit out on the patio in the middle of the summer thanks to the fans and natural breeze. The waitstaff was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu which made choosing what to eat much easier. Thank you! read more

Got there near closing time, as was made clear by my waitress proclaiming "we close in 10 minutes (actually 17), so let's get going". Aye, aye, I thought you were open until 11 (as is listed on their yelp listing). To be fair, she came by later and was much nicer, so all is well. I went with the mini chili dogs, two empanadas and the flourless chocolate cake. (I didn't think it would take long to make those items) The chili dogs were pretty good, the empanadas were OK as was the flourless chocolate cake. So close, but yet so far from being really good. Decline since open. It's a very nice atmosphere for anywhere but uniquely Hill Country. When they first opened the doors I anxiously gave them a try and it was phenomenally delicious. Lots of locally sourced specialty ingredients from local hill country boutique sources, and a very unique menu. Venison tacos, flat breads with a multi cultural flair (like the tandoori flatbread). Fast forward two years and they seem to have lost their passion. Last night's dinner was less than memorable. The food came out with zero attention to presentation. I've had nicer looking taco entree's at Torcy's in a plastic basket. My wife's slider sandwiches looked like they had dropped the plate on the floor as they were hanging apart with meat barely on the bun. Some liquid cheese schmear that approximated a Taco Bell drive through. Straight up and totally honest. My wife busted their kitchen staff in uniform a while back at the local HEB buying stuff off the shelf like Pepperidge Farm desert cakes whole. The few deserts we saw going out indeed looked straight out of a box. In fairness we didn't order desert, because after our wholly non-memorable dinner, we just wanted to minimize the damage and move on. To sum it up, the venue has apparently become the de facto local bar for the apartment dwellers in the Galleria parking lot condos. The attention seems to be on the bar and the patio. Certainly not on the menu. I don't want to sound like I'm totally trashing them though. The place is beautiful, and the bar is great, and any business must know their audience. It's just disappointing that out in the Bee Cave area we get yet ANOTHER hipster bar rather than a nice culinary destination, which it was on track to becoming at one point. We've been twice and service, food and drinks were outstanding. We had crispy shrimp tacos, pulled pork tacos, the wings with three sauces and perfectly seared scallops nestled in a bed of creamy risotto. I highly recommend The Queen Bee and the Pollinator craft cocktails. This place has raised the bar for mediocre Bee Cave and according to some bad reviews, I'm thinking they worked out the kinks. read more

I wish I could give this establishment zero stars. My first visit was back in July. The hotel was new, exciting, and fresh. I expected good service, and I was severely disappointed. The staff simply did not care. 30+ minute waits for drinks, etc. Also, ALWAYS check your receipts. They tried to charge me MORE for my drinks than what was listed on their menus. The real reason for my review was the service (or lack thereof) I received this evening.... I was visiting a relative who was in town for a wedding. The service was, again, horrible. I stood at the bar and literally stared at the female bartender (who wasn't doing ANYTHING) until I had to say "excuse me, I'd like to order a drink." Then, the fire alarm started going off. It was LOUD. None of the staff addressed anyone in the bar. No one let us know if we should evacuate or if it was a false alarm. No. They just turned up the music to an UNGODLY decibel and pretended that it wasn't happening ...?? Needless to say, I will NEVER set foot in this bar ever again. Nor will I ever recommend that any of my friends or family stay in this hotel; because if the rest of the establishment is run like the bar is run, they're in for a treat. read more

This place is outstanding-- the only reason I did not give the 5th star is having patio service other than Errol. Seriously, this guy is so good and may have the best attitude and talent of any waiter in the city! The others seem to be on a little more mañana time. Food is very solid and drinks will rival Peche on 5th, my favorite mixologist. Best experience is multitude of apps and tapas on the balcony! read more

Edit: My experience last night was crappy, and the drink prices are pretty freaking high. Most of my experiences here with service and food have been great, and the view is amazing, so I'm giving the 4-stars that i should've. Tonight I ordered the baja shrimp tacos and they came out one shade lighter than black...espresso maybe?? I went ahead and tried a bite since I know how some batters are darker. Nope, this shit was burnt tasting. So I send it back, not for more because the horrible taste I had in my mouth left me without an appetite. The bartender acted indifferent about this fact, also about the price change with tres agaves. I've gotten charged different amounts on the same drink. Previously I've been charged closer to $12 for a tres agaves tequila because the bartender and I discussed why Dulce Vida was $15 and how this was a better price for what you get. Tonight I order the same thing and it's $16.50. Over $30 spent on two drinks, what a bad joke. .. Truth is that there are way too many places to eat/drink in Bee Cave to put up with subpar, over-priced establishments in my opinion. read more

We live in Lakeway and were so excited to visit the new Meridian 98 for dinner and drinks. Or at least our plan was to go for dinner and drinks, but the service was so poor we eventually walked out. After finding a table in the open seating lay-out, we had several servers walk by. I then attempted to get a drink at the bar and was only served thanks to the nice gentleman next to me who pointed out to Smitty that I had not been helped. The 'craft' cocktail I ordered was sloppily made and just awful. I'm sure this is a result of a new restaurant getting on its feet. I just expected something a little more from a well-known, international hotel chain. I'll leave the tourist to enjoy this place; I'll be at The Grove instead. My one star is for the view. The hotel bar, Meridien 98 was very nice. It had lovely lounging areas inside and out. I can only imagine what it must be like to gaze over the beautiful hill country from the balcony at sunset. It was nice seeing the twinkling lights at night. The bar food was realy good! Flatbread pizza was delicious. The scallops and spoonful ceviche apps were quite tasty and beautifully presented. Service was wonderful! To top off the evening, we rode in the trolley the hotel purchased just to bring its guests around the Galleria shopping are. It was a beautiful trolly with very nice and comfy seating. No clackity clack! read more

Met a girlfriend here for Happy Hour. There is no food discounts at happy hour time. Two wines, a chardonnay and a red one are $2 off. I think there is one other hard alcohol drink on special but that is it. Not a great happy hour. There are some tables and couches outside as well, which are covered but not protected. The night we went was a tad chilly so we sat inside. Our waitress, Mary, was friendly and attentive. We ordered the chips, queso, salsa and quac starter. The salsa was different and good. Overall, an ok place but a tad high for a happy hour. Probably because it was cold the noise level inside was very high. $6 for Fall Creek Chardonnay regular $8. The starter was $12. read more
