Great customer service, I wish I had gotten names. I was helped to buy a pair of Ray Bands by a young blonde girl, tan skin color. Please do not feel offended of my description. I really wish I had asked her name or did not pay attention to her name tag. She helped me to try on multiple glasses as I tend to be self-conscious about what I wear on my face. She was real as to what looked good and what didn't, really helping me to make a quick choice, not afraid to ask questions. As we went up to the cashier, all staff was very positive and friendly, and even reinforced my decision on a pair of $200 sunglasses. To employers, transaction was at 4:42pm 5/12/24. Standard Tilly's store and best when you don't interact with the employees. There's a Karen working here asking others if they needed help but not me, probably because of my race or how I look. She then stood on the opposite side of the rack I was looking at for shirts for a hot minute, just there...standing - didn't say anything to me, no greeting and kept walking by me but didn't say a word except kept giving me looks. I go to get rung up with a young girl with dark hair here today and told her I wanted to use my military discount. I showed her my veteran identification and she says she wonders how many people pretend to be in the military. I told her that's illegal and I'm not sure, as I am a veteran and don't have that issue. I felt like she tried to act like I was one of those people because I am petite, asian and had makeup on. I am in my 30's, but I look like I'm in my 20's so yeah. I feel like if people have nothing nice to say then don't say it, it isn't necessary especially if you work in CUSTOMER service. Idk, it was an awkward experience and unwarranted. Just run my transactions and keep your bias to yourself. I got the sense the workers here think they are extra special and also felt the prejudice/bias. Not the best experience. The poor staff is not trained which is not their fault but I lost $40 because there was also no trace of my return even though I used my email. I went to return some clothes that my son bought from a Christmas gift card he received today. I went up to the counter to make the return/partial exchange for the pants and he immediately made the return and put the refund on the gift card my son used originally. Which my son of course no longer has because he used the entire gift card at Tillys December 26. When I then advised the gentleman behind the counter that he just refunded it to a gift card that my son no longer has because he used the entire thing at Tillys on December 26 he then told me he would call someone to see if he could reverse it. He called someone 30 seconds later told me sorry I can't reverse it I said well then just I don't even want to return the pants my son I would rather have two pairs of pants than nothing because you just put the refund on a gift card that we no longer have??? since when you typically use a gift card in its entirety at the store you purchased it from you don't normally keep the gift card after. He then told me there was nothing he could do and I could contact MasterCard for assistance once again I don't have the gift card my son was given for Christmas he used the entire thing at Tillys now has nothing to show for it because they wouldn't even give me a store credit rather than refunding a gift card that's been thrown away since December 26 after shopping at Tillys. I will never ever ever shop at Tillys again the customer service was beyond horrible. What kind of a store refunds a gift card wouldn't they ask if you would like store credit or what card you would like refunded or how you would like your refund? There is no way now for me to get my son's gift card money back and the pants have been returned so he basically spent $100 gift card at Tillys for two pairs of pants we returned the pants now he doesn't have the pants or the gift card any longer thank you Tillys for the wonderful Christmas gift. Tilly's is my 14 year old son's favorite place to shop for clothes, hats and shoes and I like it because the prices are reasonable. The employees are nice and they always greet you as you walk in the door. The styles range from surfer to skater to swag for guys and girls. There is generally a great selection of sizes and colors, as long as you don't wait til the end of the season. The prices range from very reasonable for the Blue Crown brand to the pricier brands like Quiksilver and Burton. The employees on the floor are ready to help and all of the employees are friendly and get you through the checkout line quickly. read more

It was a bright and sunny day in Laguna Niguel and I needed a hat to protect my dome from the heat and happened to drive by this Tilly's. Upon entering the store I was greeted by the manager but no one came out to ask me if I needed it help. I went to the hat rack and saw the Ripcurl hat and was priced right and went to purchase it. One employee finally asked if I didn't any help but I already found what I wanted so he went on his merry way. Retail is a very hard industry to be in. This I completely understand as I myself was a manager for a retail entity for many years. That being said there is NEVER an excuse for poor customer service especially when there is not one person in the store! I had been in the prior day and purchased clothing for my kids and I and spent a decent amount of money. My daughter had to exchange a couple of the items and I noticed that today they are now running a promo, spend $75 and get a bag. Of course my daughter wanted the bag so I thought I would ask the manager the question "since I had purchased way way over that amount, could she help us out?" Oh absolutely not!! Was her response! Are you kidding me??!! I could have returned the items alone and got the stinkin bag with the prices of that stupid place !! But she was so incredibly rude it was all about principle at that point! So it is hard to run in and out even if you know what you are getting. The store seems a little cluttered and customer service could greatly improve. I'm shocked at the hostile "customer service". The boy who "helped" me was terse and presumptive. He'd worked at Tilly's three years so he refused to get a manager and in glaringly empty store told me to move out of the way for customers. I worked during the holidays and it was absolutely painful to get through the day. A couple of the managers were pretty helpful and easy to work with, and same with a few other employees. Everyone else was stubborn, fake, unhappy, and flat out cynical. I've never been in such a hostile work environment that encourages the "employees" to be "friendly". I am typically a fan of Tillys, however this location is not the best. The store was disorganized and the employees were lazily sitting around. An angry customer had an issue with a return and though the employee helping her was able to diffuse the situation, the employee immediately started talking trash on the customer when she left. That is EXTREMELY unprofessional to do in front of other customers, as I witnessed the entire altercation and then the employee talking bad about the customer. I know it may not be fun to work on a slow, Saturday evening, but your face shouldn't express that to the customer. Customer service needs some work here. read more

Went to the grand reopening today, was disappointed that they gave everyone in line (first 100) a wristband for a free backpack and gift card giveaway. Very cool, get people in line for the store, I get it. But why does one family need 5 backpacks and gift cards, why are 2 year olds walking around with wristbands? The worst customer service ever!!! During my visit today when I was Christmas shopping for my son, he needs a 32x34 size jeans. There were no 32x34 jeans available in the store. The sales associate was nice enough to tell me that if I waited in line at the counter they would be able to order them online for me with no shipping. When I waited in line for over 15 minutes, which I expected because it's Christmas I was told there were two different websites. One that researched a local distribution center, and one that distributed using their website. The jeans were not available on the local distribution center but they were available on the website. Apparently at the local distribution center the shipping is free, but for the website I had to pay the shipping even though they weren't available in the store. I asked the cashier why I would have to pay shipping if they want available in the store and that the sales associate told me they would be free shipping. She said " I don't know the difference between the websites." But my manager said you would have to pay for the shipping because they're not available at our local distribution center online. Why the heck would you have two websites and your cashier can't explain the difference between the two... I am very confused! Needless to say I walked out and will never shop at the Tilly's in Laguna Hills again! This store is terrible. The employees there talk down to you about the clothes you want and seem to stalk you in the fitting room. As I was trying on shirts an employee seemed to ask me "are you doing ok JAMES" every 10 seconds and said on his radio right out side my door "we got JAMES in fitting room trying on 2 shirts" witch is creepy using my name. Then after I was out as I was walking away I heard him say "we got JAMES proceeding to the register with 2 shirts" I was so creeped out I put the shirts back and left, tillys will never receive my business read more
