Very unique place. Big time biker hang out on the weekends .... but absolutely a family friendly atmosphere. They are known for their TILTON BURGER (1/2 burger, freshly made). I had the fish tail sandwich today. Very good! Their french fries are a very thin and slightly battered treat! Order them extra crispy and they are wonderful! The only reason for the 3 star rating is that they don't take credit or debit cards, limited menu (pretty much just sandwiches) & even though they have wooden picnic tables on the patio, they could be cleaned better. This place has great personality, history, pretty good service, and local color. If they had anything approaching good burgers, it would be even better. We've been coming to Indian Lake for years, but this was our first time eating at the Tilton Hilton. The service was OK, the outside patio is basic picnic tables near the lake. The ambience is interesting - you read about the tilting floor, and how it used to be an icehouse, right? And it's kind of a biker bar atmosphere, which is good for variety, but let me tell you: the burgers are awful. I guess they're big, but the meat reminded me of low-quality Taco Bell beef. It falls apart, and lacks the flavor or texture of normal beef. Actually it lacked any flavor. Ok, maybe I've been spoiled by homemade grilled burgers and Son of Thurman, and all that, but I'm ready to say it was the second worst burger I've ever had (the worst was at a museum cafeteria). Blech. My only advice for diners is to get something else. We're still looking for a good place to eat at the lake since Antonio's closed. This isn't it right now. At least the ice cream from the truck outside was good. My advice to the owners: reduce the size of the burgers to normal, and pick up some ordinary ground beef. read more

You have to stop in to check it out because... well, it's Tilton Hilton! Great view by the water if you stop in for a drink or snack. They are know for their burgers, but it's just an oversized over cooked burger without much flavor and the buns are always dry and fall apart as you're eating it. What can I say about this place that hasn't been said? Floor, tilting, etc. So, the burgers are huge yes, but they are also woefully under-seasoned and really thicker than is practical. In order to get the inside cooked, the outside becomes a bit dry. The bun also didn't make the cut as it was not dense enough to stack up to the structural challenges set forth by the meat-mass of a patty. My deep fried mushrooms tasted of freezer burn, but the French fries were solid. I think next time I'd ask for a medium-rare burger and avoid the mushrooms. The service was quite good once the waitress stopped by. She was very cordial and chatty, but not in an annoying way. Certainly a good option for being out on the lake, but be careful navigating the lily pads. read more

Tilton Hilton is a local landmark. It's right on the water with docks so boaters can dock and get a bite to eat. There are picnic tables outside so you can eat and watch the water. They take cash only. The inside has a very tilted floor. The hamburgers are huge. The food is okay. Service is okay. They serve pop in cans and the water is bottled water (you pay for your water). I had the breaded tenderloin sandwich. It was a little greasy. The lettuce and tomato on it was fresh. My son ordered the Swiss bacon burger. It was huge. He said it was very good. "5 out of 5." The fries are very thin and long. He said they were the best. My daughter had ham and cheese sandwich. She said it was very good. She also liked the onion chips. They came with Ranch dressing. We drove out of the way to come here due to sentimental reasons. My in-laws use to bring us here when they lived in the lake. If in the area, it's a neat little place to get a bite to eat. read more

No frills here, picnic tables, cash only, floor inside is lopsided, right by the waterfront, it all adds to the character of the Tilton Hilton. The hamburgers are fricking huge, seriously huge! Wonderful little piece of history here at the lake. Small but might. If you haven't tried the burgers here you're really missing out. Either drive down or boat up and stop in to enjoy a bite to eat. Be sure to bring you appetite you won't go away hungry. I love the BBQ bacon burger but if that's not your thing I'm sure you can find something on the menu you want. Bring cash with you they don't take cards. They have an atm on site but why pay the fee if you can avoid it. Also be patient with the wait staff they get slammed but it's worth the wait. read more

Used to be a weekend favorite. The burgers are HUGE and I love to see a newbie's face when they first lay eyes one it. But this year, the 2 times that I went, were a disaster. Yes, they were busy but the wait time was inexcusable. 1 time we waited 45 minutes just to get a waitress and the second time, we waited 1 hr 20 minutes just for drinks! Completely unacceptable. Absolutely amazing. It may not look like much from the outside, but the saying holds true that you should never judge a book by its cover. Our server was named Ashley and she was incredibly nice and friendly. She actually had quite a long friendly conversation with us which is not typical of most servers. The bar is decent friendly, and the interior had a very homely feel. The rest of the staff was friendly as well. The food was amazing. I came with my mom and we both had the tilted cheese burger, breaded spear pickles, and breaded cheesy cauliflower. Absolutely delicious.I would definitely come here again. read more

If you leave this place hungry it is your fault. The Tilton Hilton is a unique bar. The doors are crooked, the floor tilts so much that the legs on the tables have been cut. It is an old bar but a clean bar with great food. It has one of the best burgers I ever ate and it is huge. The wife and I usually get two baskets but only one burger split in half. If you are out just riding around the Indian Lake area or are up there boating, I highly recommend stopping in and try it out. You won't regret it. And it has made a name for itself as a landmark place. We were down in Tennessee on vacation and we saw two different couples with Tilton Hilton T-shirts on. We asked them about it and the said it was recommended to them when they were vacationing in Ohio near there. They said they loved it. So the word about it does get around. read more
