This delicious, upper end establishment with a great vibe is a must-try. The drink special for the day, an apricot cucumber martini, was light and refreshing. All of the food was cooked to perfection and the flavors elevated traditional dishes. We had the Little Timber Salad (so fresh and delightful), the mac and cheese (the least exciting of the bunch, but still not bad), the mushroom pizza (great flavors - definitely ask for some freshly grated Parmesan on top), and the 24-hour short rib (fall apart, with an amazing blue cheese crust that I now wish everyone would offer). As full as you'll be after eating all of this, don't skip dessert. The buckeye is what dreams are made of - a phenomenal peanut butter mouse lightly coated in chocolate. I had good expectations and requested dome dining. The GM was very helpful in getting a last minute reservation. We had a group of 7, which was max seating for the dome dining. It was too tight and rather uncomfortable. There was very little room to move in your chair or on the table. The max should be 5 in my opinion. The server provided good service with our group of 7. The biggest problem was the food. It came slow, and we were limited to 90 minutes. Two members of our group ordered three pig pizza and one was slightly undercooked, the other one had the crust burnt...black....! Two others ordered Rigatoni Bolognese. It was extremely bland and the pasta was pasty, clearly over cooked. We were unable to eat much of it. The fifth person in the group felt the burger and fries were ok but the portion of fries was shockingly small. The other 2 meals were "ok", but one did not come out with the rest of the groups meals and was unnoticed until we asked. I would not plan on returning to this restaurant nor would I be able to recommend it. read more

They were both so amazing. We ordered the Timber Chocolate Decadence Sundae ($10) and the Brick Oven Chocolate Lava Cake ($10). While both delicious, the lava cake was our favorite. It's paired with cherry bourbon gelato for absolute flavor perfection. Because we enjoyed the ambiance and dessert so much, we skipped the complimentary hotel breakfast so we could try the Sunday brunch at Timber. For $25 pp, you get more food than you can even imagine eating. (Table popovers, a starter, a side, main dish, and meat). Everything tastes amazing and you will leave feeling full. It's my birthday tomorrow. Dan wanted to treat me to a nice dinner. I was willing to give Timber another try, especially during this pandemic and our local restaurants need our business. We like to help out as much as possible. The ordering process was easy. They had the meals we wanted, too. I was worried about that since it is Mother's Day. I ordered the scallops with risotto. Dan ordered the fish and chips. We also ordered the calamari. Pick-up was incredibly smooth and painless. Dan said it was, "Great! So easy!" When I took our meals out of the bag, I was so disappointed that our order was incomplete. Dan's "Fish & Chips" was sans "Chips." He was also quite disappointed and said, "That was why I ordered it." The meals were tasty. The calamari was very good, crisp and the banana pepper rings added a nice tang. We tried to make the most of it. I threw a couple of potatoes in the microwave before crisping them up in the oven. Sadly, though, it was just so disappointing that Dan's meal was incomplete. I enjoyed the Scottish Salmon salad which came with greens topped with grape tomatoes, goat cheese, beets and a 4oz grilled salmon. At $20 this was a good value for the quality of the salad. I also enjoyed an 18 Oz pour of Chateau Ste. Michelle riesling at $23. When my coworkers and I arrived in Bangor we were told that this was "the place To Go" when we arrived at the airport. So after a quick stop at our hotel we drove over and we were so glad we did. The visit started with great service from the hostess stand. We were seated immediately and our Server, Katya, came to the table right away. These should be the first thing you order! The broth is good enough to drink on its own if it weren't so gauche ha. Their wings were fantastic. The parmesan truffle fries (always a fave) were lacking... too powdery and not seasoned correctly, but they weren't bad enough to not eat. Now that my appetite was totally spoiled, I skipped any entree and went right for the Buckeye Tart and a taste of my husband's Brulee Trio. The tart was like a taste of Just Give Up All Other Food Forever! This is the mother of all dessert creations. The inside of the chocolate balloon held this smooth fluff of subtly flavored peanut butter bliss. The drenched caramel corn on the side was over the top goodness. I wasn't as excited about the Trio, but my husband sure was. He's definitely a Creme Brulee aficionado. Service was a little slow at the bar even though they were well staffed. We heard it was top-rated in Bangor, but now we think it should also be top rated in New England! My wife ordered the Little Timber Salad and the seafood chowder - she enjoyed the salad's fresh combination of fruits, berries, and the berry vinaigrette dressing; She said the chowder was the best she had from all our seafood restaurants in New England. She also enjoyed the fancy Tea Forte Iced tea preparation made right at the table in elegant glassware. Our Crème Brulee Trio dessert was absolutely amazing! It was a three-part presentation of vanilla, maple and expresso crèmes - and it was fantastic! By the way, the dinnerware and plating choices of everything was first class. My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic lunch at Timber Kitchen and Bar this week. It was a beautiful day so we asked for an outdoor seat though I will say the ambiance indoors looked very inviting. My wife enjoyed an enormous salmon salad loaded with flavor while I enjoyed a delicious wild mushroom pizza. We skipped the adult beverages this time around but will definitely partake at our next visit. The hostess was pleasant and the waitress was polite and attentive. We flew into Bangor on our way to Acadia and knew we had to dine at this place. It is highly rated and very close to where we stayed. It did not disappoint. We were able to find two stools at the bar and immediately noticed a hip cool vibe. The place was packed on a Tuesday night at 6! Our bartender was super attentive and very patient with the drinks I ordered. Both were not on the menu, but I had noticed key liquor bottles that would make a black fig martini and a last word. Both were delicious. My husband ordered a Dirty Rotten Scoundrel which was good, but maybe a little over the salty top. For a second round, he went with an apricot martini from the special menu that he enjoyed. We ordered the crispy buffalo brussel sprout dish that was to die for. You must get it. Outstanding appetizer. Our dishes were just as impressive. I ordered salmon which was clean eating and my husband got the Three Pigs Pizza. This place is connected to a Marriott hotel and clean, reliable, and our food was delicious. They have outdoor seating which was important to us as a family who still recognizes COVID as a threat. I am leaving a 5 star review specifically for the STAFF. I left my purse behind and didn't realize it until the next morning. We were traveling from VA to Canada so it included my passport, my wallet, and basically everything important. They not only attempted to find me by running around the parking lot (we were upstairs in the hotel) but then recognized the significance of the contents and locked it in their safe. Attached to the Residence Inn, but not affiliated with it. We stayed at the hotel and ate there on a Tuesday evening. By 6 pm it was packed, it must have a following with locals. Very friendly service and a very inviting atmosphere. I don't think we cared as much for the food as we had hoped to. My wife had the penne bolognese and thought it was lacking in flavor. She kept adding salt and that didn't help. I love short it's so ordered that. It comes with a bleu cheese "crust" which was just a schmeer of bleu cheese. It really overpowered the flavor of the meat. I think I didn't get the best portion of meat. I had three little chunks, one of which was all fat. Seemed like I was getting a leftover serving. The root vegetables were really really al dente. Almost like raw. So not really impressed. But I do think I'd try it again. This place if you want to get the great food purchase the handheld foods. They are great. Thier 30$+ entries are a complete waste of money and quality food. The steaks are never tender from the prime rib to the ribeye. If I were to guess they are ripping me off by buying choice steaks and nothing higher with the size omitted from the menu just like the soda prices everywhere they don't want you to know how much your spending or getting. Go ahead and ask your server what size cut is the steak and I guarantee you they will have to defer to the kitchen for answers. And sauces they put on the entries are so tiny that it evaporates halfway through your meal. Is this what is supposed to happen and don't get me started on the halibut it was loaded with bones so much that when I asked the server about the bone situation it became bone gate where they had to ask 3 separate people whether or not my halibut should have so much bones in it. Either way I didn't like it and they didn't see that way they were just trying to find out if they served it properly. In the end they asked if they could remake the meal I said no, so they asked if I wanted anything else I settled on a French onion soup. That I had to pay for thanks for making me happy. Don't get me wrong the pizzas are great, the hamburgers are excellent and appetizers are good but stay away from their entries. It's not cracked up to what the people are saying it's good. read more

We found Timber Kitchen and Bar after looking for a place to eat that was near our hotel. We came around opening time for dinner and didn't have to wait at all. The interior decor was nice and the restaurant itself was pretty spacious. We ordered the Blue Hill Bay Mussels Lobster Mac and Cheese to start as appetizers. The mussels were probably the best thing I tried there; the actual mussel themself was fresh and the sauce it was cooked in was rich and tasty, perfect for dipping the bread they gave with the dish. The lobster mac and cheese was pretty average. The portion size was smaller than I had hoped and I felt they were definitely skimping on the lobster. I ordered the Cedar Plank-Roasted Salmon for my entree. I wasn't really wowed by the salmon itself; the mustard-maple glaze flavor was kind of overpowering the actual salmon taste. For the price I had hoped for more. The potatoes and asparagus were pretty good though. I think this place is not bad but for the price range I would've had higher expectations. All in all, the combination of flavors were on point! Pan Seared Ahí Tuna was very refreshing and yummy! The Yuzu Mermalade was extremely interesting. For Social and Unique: Blue Hill Bay Mussels broth was very interesting. Some mussels were fresh others weren't as they didn't open (disappointed) but all in all a very unique dish. Brick Oven Onion Soup was amazing! It sure had plenty of onion and soup consistency was right on point. The Gruyere Cheese was a great choice! For Camp Kettle: Half the table went with Maine Lobster Bisque (loved the tiny crostini with lobster and micro herbs - so delicious! I could eat this any day!) and half the other table went with their Smoked Seafood Chowder (it was okay was definitely missing that Smokey flavor) For Base Camp Classics: Crab Crusted Haddock. The crab crusted was delicious but the haddock was over cooked! Love their Citrus Butter Sauce but the Smoked Bacon never made it to the plate which was lacking on trying to find all flavors combined. For Hand-Helds: Maine Lobster Roll was definitely lacking on the lobster and flavor was nothing out of this world. Make sure you save on trying lobster roll in Bar Harbor so much better! For Rustic Hand-Made Pasta: Pappardelle Bolognese was more of a Pasta Tomato and Cheese pasta. If my friend found 3 pieces of protein was too much! Too saucy! For Foraged, Farmed, Fished: Seared Local Scallops everything on this dish was extremely wow except the fact it came a bit cold. They had it way too long waiting for the other meals to be ready. Extremely disappointed! 24 hr Short Rib Filet as well as above everything perfect but wasn't cooked plated and served right away but cooked plated and left waiting in the "hot lamp" For Cocktails/Beer: Bar Harbor Real Ale, Urban Woodsman, White & Red Sangria, Smoked Old Fashioned (needs more Smokey flavor), Blackberry Ginger Shrub, Blue Shine (too sweet not enough Moonshine or I'm used to Nashville TN moonshine) Blueberry Jam Mojito and Blueberry Tarragon Shrub Martini - all cocktails highly recommended! Super disappointed that when we made a reservation from out of town a week ahead front desk had given our table to another person who said they were us . This is a party of six by the way when asked if they had two reserved for the same time they flatly said no. No remorse or apology evidently they didn't even bother to verify the cell number associated with the reservation either. All they could do is seat us outside ( we reserved inside) at an overflow table that was at the edge of the outdoor seating next to the entrance to the hotel. That table shouldn't even be there the whole night we just had to smell people smoking the last of their cigarettes and in pack their cars going in and out the hotel. I'm pretty sure our waiter forgot about us , dishes piled up between courses and we're on bussed when our mains arrived. We asked to speak to the manager at the beginning of the meal and he apologized and lead us to believe that they would make it up to us. Nothing happened relative to that it was obviously just lip service . We traveled up here and chose this place because it looked really nice , your pit door seating is just parking lot and should be cut back to just under the awning and lights . There also should be a shrub buffer of something between the hotel entrance people were literally walking thru all night . The moment you step into this place, the aesthetic and decor will blow you away. It's like fancy dining meets the outdoors. The Staff are friendly and help you out right away. Service is amazing and fast. The food is delicious and decently priced. The quality is good and presented in a unique manner. The clam chowder I had was fresh and delicious. Let me tell you a story about our two experiences with the acclaimed Timber Kitchen. The first was about a year ago when we had heard from friends that this restaurant was the finest in the area. We love dining out so we decided to make reservations. I called around midday and the male gentleman who answered the phone informed me quite clearly and rudely that they do NOT take reservations. He was so abrupt on the phone and then he was gone and I was apologizing to a dial tone. So we didn't go to dinner there. Then on a chilly Autumn Thursday night I wanted to try a new restaurant and we decided on to try again, drove to Timber making certain not call ahead with reservations. Thursday night at 7 pm and parking was an issue but finally we found a space behind the Residence Inn by the swimming pool and made our way around the building to the front door, went inside the small, crowded restaurant lobby. My wife asked the hostess how long was the wait, and the young, tall, dark-haired hostess replied, "15 minutes." She took down my wife's phone number and then I asked my wife if we could wait outside. I do not like crowded wait areas. We walked outside and we asked an outside staffer if we could sit down by the fireplace while waiting for our phone call that our table was ready. She told us yes, that was fine. After we sat down the same person brought us menus and we said no, we are waiting for a table inside. But we would like a drink. She sent a waiter our way and very quickly he served us our drinks. A few minutes later a couple was seated at an outside table by the window and given menus, and in the usual manner ordered their dinner. We sat with our drinks as time passed - 15 minutes, 20, minutes, 30 minutes which at that time the couple seated by the window received their dinners. We watched as folks arriving after us were seated INSIDE the restaurant. At 45 minutes my wife walked back to the hostess inside and was told we were crossed off the wait list because the waiter told them we would be dining outside. She asked that we be placed back on the wait list, returned to our seat by the fireplace and explained the situation to me. Then our waiter reappeared and I explained the situation to him and he empathically denied he cancelled our reservation. He went to talk to the hostess. The folks at the outside table finished their meal and left. An hour had now passed and the original person stationed outside (who I now assumed was the outside hostess) stopped by and asked if we had enjoyed our dinner. It was at that point we realized she had cancelled our indoor reservation, not our waiter. At one hour and fifteen minutes I walked back to the inside hostess and this time I argued with her, that I didn't understand why it was our fault that we didn't know there was a rule that if you sat outside, you had to dine outside, which is what she had told my wife- it was our fault. I argued that is clearly not our fault, and she replied that she would seat us but they had to seat a table of six first who had been waiting 2 hours. I walked back outside to my wife shaking my head...and we had decided we had been ignored, insulted, and lectured to enough and were ready to leave when the hostess came and told us our table was ready. They seated us at a table for five and my wife asked the hostess if we should be expecting more people. The hostess said, " you're a party of five" I responded, "no, there are only two of us." At that moment I understood what her comment abut the having to seat the table of six first actually meant. Then they quickly ushered us to a table for two. And just like our drinks waiter outside, our waitress was understanding and professional. We were ordering when the Manager briskly approached our table and quickly and with little apparent compassion, if any at all, apologized for the inconvenience. His body language screamed run away from these people and there was zero eye contact, he looked everywhere else but at us. And then he leaned over the waitress and whispered in a voice that I can only describe as "irritated and indifferent" , "give them a free appetizer". It had been two hours and we were finally ordering dinner and this guy does us some big favor with a free appetizer. We weren't asking for a hand-out. But it sure felt like he thought so. I was so upset I ordered the rib eye when I wanted prime rib. When the waitress saw my plate was barely touched, she was very nice and brought me something else for my main course. How was the food? Our dinner was truly five star, meticulously prepared and full of all the right flavors. The inside of the restaurant was beautiful, the ambiance lovely, even the silverware was of fine quality. Despite all the setbacks getting to the table, the dinner itself was excellent The kitchen staff sure knows how to cook. Shame the service is no equal. read more

For food we got a pasta dish which was overall good, the truffle fries which were nice but nothing crazy special and the prime rib special which was incorrectly cooked. WORST MANAGER! A good manager of a hospitality establishment would have just offered a refund or credit to consume the drinks another time. She was rude, humiliating and inappropriate. HERE IS THE WHOLE STORY: Residence Inn in Bangor on 2/8/25. My husband went down to the Timber restaurant to get myself and friend a drink for our room. Unbeknownst to him, or any of us, the manager stopped him at the door as he was exiting and abruptly told him she could not allow him to leave the restaurant with those drinks. He shared that he was just going to the room. After some berating and condescending discussion on the part of the manager, my husband apologized and asked if could just have a refund. She said no. She said he could stand there and drink them, but she could not refund his money. He said he could not drink them himself and set them down to come let me know the situation. I got dressed and went down to discuss this matter with the manager. Upon entering the restaurant, I shared with her what my husband said and ask where the drinks were. She said they threw them out. I said, ok, well could we just have a refund and be done with this. She refused. I said, so I only have the option of standing here and drinking them? She did not want to give me the drinks or the money back. She eventually went and rudely walked to the bar and brought me one drink. I asked about the second drink, and she said it was not possible for me to have two drinks in front of me at the same time. This is odd as my husband bought 2 drinks and had both of them in his hand. Her rude and condescending behavior continued to intensify. She made me stand there for the first drink. I drank the drink. I then walked into a room she was sweeping and informed her that I was ready for the second drink. She said she would be there when she was done sweeping. She was obviously punishing me and treating me poorly. As I waited about 10 minutes for her to finish sweeping, I shared this story with the bar manager, who was speechless and powerless to help. In the end she came out and finally brought me the second drink and watched me drink it. Now, this being the hospitality industry, one might imagine a manager offering to provide a credit for another time, refund the drinks as the "no leaving with drinks" is not posted on the bar, or just offered an apology. This was not the case. Instead, she berated me in front of the staff and other patrons, gave me no option except to guzzle two drinks back-to-back and treated me like we did something wrong. Honestly, at 55, I have never experienced such irresponsible, inappropriate and blatant rudeness in a manager of a service establishment. Neither my husband nor I were rude. She even admitted my husband was kind and apologetic in front of me and the bar Manager. I am not sure if my husband should have been apologizing, but she certainly didn't apologize. She acted like we stole from her. I even asked her why she was treating me so rudely. I had not treated her rudely, however, eventually I did confront her on her behavior. She became more demonstrative and antagonistic. I am appalled and so embarrassed. I was quite tipsy as I left. I guess I could have just given in and not slammed 2 drinks to prove a point, but her behavior and lack of empathy, courtesy, and professionalism, was unprecedented. I was really tired from a long day and this situation really caught me off guard. I think she put everyone, including myself, the hotel, and the restaurant in a precarious situation. I am a mom, wife, caretaker, VP at a hospital and real estate investor. I had children, a 10-year-old type 1 diabetic, and a husband with cancer with me, as well as friends in another room. I wish I had told here to just keep the drinks, but that wasn't right either. Never in all my years have I seen such rude and reckless behavior in someone in an upper management position. I would appreciate some follow-up to this situation. I am normally inclined to let things go, but I don't think I can do that in this situation. read more

Food was just mid. Burger was good. Ambiance was very nice. Would not go back. People seemed friendly.

A favorite go to location! The food and selection of craft cocktails are amazing! Highly recommend!

It was absolutely packed tonight (Sunday) @ 8pm, probably with people going to the eclipse tomorrow. We were told there was an hour+ wait but waited only ~15 min. Service was friendly & excellent (food was a little slow which was understandable), food was good, especially the lobster bisque. The whole vibe was great. Totally exceeded our expectations. read more
