If I could give this place zero stars for customer service, I would--specifically their tool repair department. Our Festool saw broke down while still under warranty. My husband brought it to Timber Woodworking Machinery under the impression that they could handle the repair process. He was told that the Festool representative comes in on Fridays and that he could leave the saw there (without the box), and the rep would pick it up and send it to Festool for warranty repair. We expected a relatively quick process--maybe two or three weeks. Instead, two months later, we were still calling for updates and receiving no clear answers about when we would get the saw back. No one could even provide a rough estimate. For a company associated with a premium brand like Festool, this level of communication was disappointing. Timber would not provide me with a direct contact number for Festool and continued giving the same vague explanation: that a part was delayed coming from Germany and nobody knew when it would arrive. I eventually found Festool's service ceneter's number myself and began communicating with them directly. After multiple conversations with Festool--one of which became unpleasant enough that it had to be escalated to management--we finally received a call from a Festool customer service manager, Melinda. She informed us that because the repair had taken so long, Festool would be replacing the saw with a brand-new unit. Finally, some good news. Unfortunately, none of that progress came from Timber Woodworking Machinery. We had to advocate for ourselves every step of the way. Less than a week later, Timber called to let us know our replacement saw had arrived. I went to pick it up immediately and was actually prepared to leave them a positive review despite the long delay. However, less than an hour after I got home, I received a call from shop manager Ray Ann claiming there had been a mix-up and asking me to return the Sustainer box and manual because they supposedly belonged to another customer. Seriously? At that point, my confidence in the entire process was gone. After months of poor communication, lack of updates, and confusion surrounding the replacement, this final incident only reinforced my impression that the repair process was poorly managed from start to finish. Festool ultimately resolved the issue by replacing the saw, and I appreciate them standing behind their product. Unfortunately, my experience with Timber Woodworking Machinery's repair department fell far short of the level of service we expected. read more

I've purchased hardwood from the lumber shop and tools from the tool shop next door in the past. Today I needed to purchase a couple sheets of plywood as well as a few other odds and ends and have the plywood sheets cut down so they would fit in the truck with the cabinets I had in there. The associate at the counter dismissed me as soon as I said "cut list" remarking that we don't work off "cut lists" we'll cut things down for you but you need to cut them. I've had boards cut here many times, millwork, and they have an entire millwork shop that glues up etc. Maybe she assumed because I'm female I'm clueless, while I'm happy to cut boards to size Timber has made cuts for me before, as well as planing etc and Ive paid for it. Maybe today was an exception but I guess I'll drive on over to Woodworkers Source because I didn't feel she was at all interested in helping me. read more

This was our first experience here, and I had exactly what I was looking for. We were searching for some red oak pieces for shelving to go with another project currently in the works, and couldn't find any in the usual if box stores. Thanks to the Yelp app you can almost always find what you need. This woodworking store boasts a large variety of hardwood planks and some natural edge pieces that were beautiful. Everything is neatly marked and you go through the stack for the pieces you need, and from what I overheard from the customer ahead of me they even offer planing services. There's two separate buildings one for wood and one for machinery which I never went into. So I'll be back when I move on to the next woodworking project they do have everything you need. read more

Went for some common walnut as a broke high school kid, they wouldnt let me only get the amount I needed like with the other woods, only option was to buy the entire plank for 60$, which Is way more money than I'm willing to spend for wood I would only be using half of. My wife and I have been coming here for about ten years for woodworking supplies, machinery, and wood. We love this place. First, it is HUGE. There's one large building for machines and supplies, and another for lumber. The machine selection is excellent. Prices are pretty normal, mostly MSRP on most machines. They also have used machines that are often an excellent value. We've bought a few and never had any issues with them. Also picked up a lot of used DC pipe for less than half the cost of new. Everyone seems friendly and helpful. As with any other hobby, some of the employees know more about one thing or the other, but you can always find someone with expertise in what you want to know. Parking was adequate at this location.... a wood store on the left side, and a machinery store on the right side. My wife went in the machinery side first, but no one asked her if she needed any help. But when she checked out, she said the young lady was friendly at the front desk. She wheeled her purchases out in the cart and went next door to the wood store. She shopped around for a while and no one asked if she needed any help. When I got there, we were greeted by this friendly guy at the checkout counter. Some of the wood items were on clearance, and some were decent prices also. read more

Went in to get some pieces of walnut... after picking out the wood the attendant said the "owner" had a policy that any off cuts were to be no shorter than 36 inches... went out and picked another another piece so I can have my 2 pieces and he then said the "owner" also had a policy that they could only do 1 cut per wood species and said he would recommend I go to Woodworker Source. This is absolute garbage and will definitely be going to a competitor from now on. read more

Purchased my Sawstop table saw at this location. Price is set the same no matter where you go. Timber not only saved me on shipping costs, but they also put the saw together for me at NO additional cost. Sure, I could have spent 7hrs doing it myself, but why when they did if for free? I also have a trailer and could have picked it up, but for just $30 they delivered it to my house, set it up in my garage and installed the motor. You're not hounded when you enter the store, and if you need help then they are there for you. Great service and great selection on not only tools and accessories, but a nice variety of wood next door. read more

This place is like a toy store for woodworkers. They had every type of woodworking machinery, hand tools, and accessories you can imagine. From sandpaper to dowels, drill bits, they seem to have it all. They have two separate buildings next to each other. One houses all the equipment and tools and the other is where they sell lumber and pieces of wood to work with. They also have a planing service that does pieces to around three feet wide. $90.00 per hour. The staff was very helpful and even the owner came and talked with me to give me some advice on some wood pieces I had done there. I plan to return. read more

I have been looking for walnut wood all over the valley I couldn't find it from anywhere around me not even Home Depot. Rude employees. They treat you as if they are doing you the favor to be there. I own a very Successful Contracting Company. I went there for some wood to build a door and drove 2 hours to get there. Upon checking out, the manager came up and practically yelled at my 73 year old father and I that we didn't lay boards back correctly on the display after we had lifted some boards looking for the straightest ones for our project. Excuse me?? THEN when the employee who was ringing us up noticed he had overcharged us, the I assume, manager told him to charge us the extra price and not the real price for the product because of what "we had done". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? Not only rude, but poor, poor business. Needless to say, I said I would not pay extra. Oh! And by the way, my father and I, after getting yelled at, DID walk back to display of alder boards and arranged the few boards just so. Perfectly. A thank you? Nope. People, it was a few boards we had moved to the side!!! Timber hardwoods, have you SEEN Home Depot??? Ugh... never going back. I suggest you yelpers do the same.. read more

Wood selection is pretty good, and there's lots of it. I like that they have a selection of precut small pieces for smaller projects. Also some rare and hard to find exotic woods. However, I have had similar experiences with the staff being less than happy to help you. Not outright rude, but definitely got the vibe they couldn't care less if I was there. As for their millwork, I've had them plane and cut to length pieces twice. Their policy is next day pickup. Really? For one board and there was no one else doing anything? This would take all of five minutes and you want me to come back tomorrow? Fine. The first time they completely destroyed one of my pieces that got stuck in the planer and tore it in half. No notice, just saw it that way when I came to pick it up. They didn't even offer to replace it until I insisted. Second time a couple days ago, one of the two boards was chewed up on one side a bit - not more than I couldn't sand out, but still - and the thickness wasn't equal from edge to edge. 5/8" on one edge and ¾" on the opposite, but only on one end! And it was $20. In contrast, I went to Woodworkers Source today for some more pieces (this was all Hickory). Wood was better looking, a bit cheaper, and they cut and joined it for me while I paid for $1.50. Pieces are perfect and staff was nice. It's well out of my way, but I'll go there over Timber from now on. read more

Do not walk into this place if you have a bad heart! WWWOOOOOWWW talk about a selection! Holy cow. I've been going there for a little over 3 years and it never gets easier. It's like a Disneyland of wood working tools. I wish I had $$$. I think if a had 50 grand I could almost get everything I want in that store. Some serious machinery at some serious prices. But all the little accessories are reasonably priced and they carry a lot of hard to find items. Trust me, leave your CC at home :) read more

Love this place! Lumber is priced competitively with Wholesale yards. The machinery store has product to satisfy the serious hobbyist to the professional woodworking shop. They don't stock a lot of overpriced plastic jigs like some of the chain stores do. That's a good thing! Note on lumber etiquette: if they will let you pick through a pile of wood for that "perfect" board, restack it neatly for the next guy. Wish they could deliver. read more

The selection of hardwood lumber is good and the prices are fair BUT, the service is awful. The employees, including the manager are not nice people and treat you like they don't care about you at all. Buying hardwood lumber here is not a nice experience. The lumber is all rough cut and varying dimensions. It is really hard to go in with a list of the lumber you need and find what you want. Then they charge you a minimum of $20 ( for 15 minutes) to plane the lumber to usable dimensions, then will not cut plywood with the extra time. The only reason to shop here is because they are the only ones around that sell hardwood lumber. read more

They have a nice selection of hardwoods and the prices are usually reasonable but, if you don't calculate your own board footage, you may get swindled, especially if the woman checks you out. The first time I discovered it (back at the shop), I thought it was just a measuring error. But after three times, I'll unfortunately have to argue my way out next time. If your board is 6 1/8" at the widest and averages less than 6", she will count it as 6 1/2". I guess she banks on people not knowing how to calculate it. Here's how: thickness (in inches) x length (in inches) x usable width (in inches) / 144. That's it. Simple. And most people have a calculator on their phone these days. Stop the gouging! read more
