I bought an antique clock from eBay that was not keeping time. I brought it to Time and Chime and Michael said he could fix it He quoted me $430 for a total overhaul. I left the clock with him for a week or two. When I picked up the clock he said it was working fine, but after watching it for a few days, I realized it still wasn't keeping time. Also I realized after I picked it up that he had written his initials on the back of the clock in ballpoint pen. I had to rub it off to remove it. I brought it back to Michael to repair. He told me it wasn't working because it hadn't been wound. He wound the clock and handed it back to me. I asked him to hold onto it for a few days so he could see that it wasn't working right. Called me the next day and said it was fine and to pick it up. He refused to do any more work on it. Also refused to give a refund when I asked him about that, since I spent a big chunk of change for him to do (apparently) nothing to my clock. Overall, this seemed above his skills. In stead of admitting defeat and telling me he couldn't get it fixed, he charged me a small fortune and blamed me for it not working properly. I'm quite dissatisfied with his performance. read more

My Howard Miller Grandfather clock stopped working after it was moved. My husband and I were moving the clock without taking the pendulum off and this put our clock out of beat. At the time, I have lived in Coraopolis, PA and a couple Jewelry stores quoted me close to $600 to fix it :(. It was too expensive for our budget... Michael is the most trustworthy watch repair specialist in the Burgh. I have tried several others (I will not mention names here) very unsuccessfully because of lack of skills or simple dishonesty. I was even told by one of them that repairing a V7750 chronograph required him to "machine new parts", and would cost me $750 -considering that you can buy complete 7750 movements for a fraction of that... you draw your own conclusions. So for a while I shipped watches for service to a very reliable watchmaker in Cincinnati, until he retired. Then I found Michael through Google. Michael has repaired two mechanical chronographs for me, and I have nothing but good experiences with his services. He fixed an old military wind up chronograph and, later on, a more modern V7750 for me. He is not the cheapest watchmaker I have worked with, but his work is top quality. The place is a house, I wasn't sure if it was a right place, so I call him. Lucky, he was home. My watch needed a new battery. Michael kept my watch and said he will call me to tell the price if there is any problem with the watch more than just battery. He called me back to let me know that it was just battery. For Christmas I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with getting his grandfather's watch fixed for him. This watch was in really sad shape, but Michael was able to fix it no problem. Michael installed the steel bracelet on my Damasko DA36. This was a particularly difficult job as the bracelet was a very tight fit. I had tried to do it myself and could not.
