7/15/24, Tim's automotive, Quote for water pump replaced in my 2012 Ford Fusion sport V6 3.5L Service advisor Clint said water pump was leaking at the weep hole, indicating it was failing. While it was up on the hoist, he said let's see if there's any other things that need to be addressed so we get an accurate quote. It was determined that the CV axle Carrier bearing "bracket" had a crack and he thought the brake pads will likely need to be replaced. Quoted $5,323.22 "I was shocked at the price" The owner Tim Roozenboom indicated that it's a lot of work and that's a fair price. I requested a discount if I include a second vehicle that needs to have its brakes done? Second vehicle 2017 Ford Explorer platinum V6 3.5L brake pads and turn rotors for $829.65. $ 5323.22 $ 829.65 $ 6152.87 TOTAL CHARGE After negotiating, he said he would do both vehicles for $ 6000.00 (I agreed to have both vehicles done) I left the first vehicle to be fixed. 7/18/24, 3 days passed, no word from the shop so I stopped by to see how the first car was doing. They had pulled the motor out and it was lying on the floor being reassembled when I arrived. I had never seen anybody pull a motor completely out to replace a water pump, CV axle bracket and replace the brake pads before. The shop Forman indicated this was the best way to perform the work. The car will be ready in a few days after we have tested everything. I told him that's fine, this is our extra vehicle. Please Call or email me when it's ready or if you have any changes so I can bring in the second vehicle. 7/26/24, 11 days, I hadn't heard anything from the shop, so called to find out the status. The service advisor said your car is ready for pick up. 4:30pm I arrived and inspected my car. Everything looked good from under the hood, but when I crawled under the car I seen that the passenger side was covered in Grease, including the new brake pads. I asked the owner Tim to inspect my concerns. He said we definitely have to get this cleaned up, it's not right. We then walked into the office together to discuss payment. Tim then indicated that the bill is $6300. I told him that's a bit higher than what we originally agreed on, and that he hadn't completed the work on the second car yet. He said that this was a bigger job than he anticipated, and that the bill is now $6300 for the first car only. I asked him why was I not informed of the increase from what I was originally quoted on the first car?. He said someone should've reached out to you, if they didn't I'm gonna get to the bottom of this. I told him, I assure you nobody has informed me of extra work or cost whatsoever, either by phone or email. You can check my phone records if you like. I then asked him to review the estimate with me to check off each item so we can total up the price and ensure that each item was completed. As we checked through the original estimate, he indicated that the back brake pads didn't need to be replaced a savings of $ 376.90. He also said that he had to recharge the air conditioning unit because he pulled the motor out as well as replaced the whole passenger side CV axle unit. We went through the original price quote and deducted the cost for the back brakes. $ 5323.22 $ -376.90 $ 4946.32 SHOULD BE THE TOTAL CHARGE. I said, I'm willing to pay $ 5000.00 for the work to the first car, but I'm no longer interested in having Tims work on the second car being that they increased the price by $ 976.28 and that didn't include the second vehicle to be fixed as agreed. Also I was not informed of any extra work or charges whatsoever, either by phone or email. Tim said he would be willing to lower his price to $ 5600.00 but that's it ! No second vehicle included, and he needed time to get the bottom of the car cleaned up and find out why nobody followed protocol and contacted me. He also said, I would need to come back on Monday because they're not open tomorrow, Saturday. He will call me when they get this sorted out. He offered to give me a ride home and I opted to walk home so I could cool off. I felt as though I was price gouged and never informed about any additional work or charges. Very disappointed in my experience. 7/29/24, Monday I hadn't heard anything all day from the shop or Tim. 7/30/24, 4:30pm, I returned to Tim's automotive and found out if my car was ready to be picked up. Tim didn't want to talk to me any further so I test drove my vehicle and paid the full bill to get my car out of hostage. $5612.41. I hand wrote on the estimate that the agreed amount should have been $ 4946.32 and I paid $ 5612.41 and that I plan to dispute the amount of "Overpayment" ( $ 666.09 ). My wife and I live in Nevada and we were trying to help out my daughter who is a single mom and on disability. Honestly, they don't care about anyone's personal situation. Originally from the New York area we know how to get things done when you're getting the runaround . This is one of those places where you wish you could give a zero or less for a rating. Definitely one of the most incompetent businesses I have ever dealt with. Most likely they will not read or comment on this review. They are a total cluster f**k and worse than a Chinese fire drill. There are people who definitely need phone competency skills and good manners because they're seriously lacking. They are incompetent when trying to find paperwork. They do not return phone calls when you are inquiring on the status of your vehicle. They call themselves a automotive repair and body shop but based on the ratings I now understand why they are so bad. The appearance of the car when it came back showed to me that poor level of workmanship. From simple clips, not being properly installed, the wheels being scuffed from the accident and never repaired. One of the final straws was dealing with them and our insurance company and the other parties insurance company. I mean, you are in the business and you don't know how to deal with insurance companies or you didn't call the insurance company???. We have been going to Tim's (off and on) for 7 years. He has serviced multiple cars for us over these years. Over the last couple years we have price shopped him and he is SO OVER PRICED! We had all new brakes done on our car, went to him for an oil change 2 months later and he told us we needed new brakes he told my son he needed $3800 of work to his car? We took it to a TRUSTED mechanic who laughed and said $300 tops. I was there today for an oil change. 11 apt time. I asked at 1130 what they were waiting on as everyone stood around and the guy said he thought I was the 1 o clock apt time (couldn't check?) finally gets my car in, comes out and tells me I need an oil valve for $750 and 4 hours of time. I say, thank you, I'll talk to my husband. Minutes later Tim walks in and IS SO RUDE!!! Completely interrogating me even after I tried to stop him twice! If I could give this place no stars I would. My car started having troubles last Thursday night, brought my car here as it was the only place open. They quoted me between $780 and $1,100 to fix the problem which was a spark plug and coil or all 6 spark plugs and coils. Took my car home as I needed to talk with my husband first. My husband said this was outrageous and they were trying to take advantage of me. Called around the next morning and found a shop called Gary's Automotive who could do it for less then $400 that same day. This place is a ripoff and I'm thankful I didn't fall for it and then came and saw the reviews and felt even better knowing I didn't have the service done here. They added a bunch of stuff to a new vehicle I just purchased, amp step, grill guard, etc... polite, informative and no job was too big or small for them. I have been going there for over 30 years now (yes they were in Milwaukie then) and never have any issues with the work they do or prices they charge as they have always been incredibly honest with us even if its not what we want to hear and then were there to work with us when we had to watch our budget and fix only what had to be fixed.. On June 11th, 2021, I purchased a 2019 RAM Promaster 2500 from Tim's Automotive Repair and Sales located in Clackamas, Oregon. I live in Sacramento, CA. Prior to flying to Portland, OR, to purchase the vehicle, I called Tim's Automotive to ask if the vehicle was in an accident. I was told that the vehicle was not in an accident, which later I learned was false. Since purchasing the vehicle, there have been numerous issues with the vehicle: 1) When I drove the vehicle off of the lot, it stalled while driving on Interstate 205. The vehicle made it about 16 miles from Tim's Automotive when it stalled. I learned that the fuel gauge was not working. It was reading about half a tank but had no fuel. Tim informed me that the vehicle was under warranty via the Dodge dealer, because it is less than three years old and has less than 36,000 miles on it. With this information I figured I could take the van to the dealer in Sacramento to resolve the issue. 2) In route to Sacramento, the check engine light went on. Later I learned that it was due to the fuel level sensor. I took the van to the Dodge dealer in Sacramento to fix the issue. They found several problems with the van. The fuel sensor issue is coming from within the fuel tank. The fuel pump in the fuel tank was cracked and the fuel tank too damaged to place a new fuel pump. A new fuel tank is needed, and no dealer in the nation currently has one in stock. So a new fuel tank would need to be manufactured, which they do not know how long this will take due to a lack of production right now during the pandemic. The total cost of this will be $1900. 3) They found a transmission leak. Just to take it apart to find the location of the leak will cost about $1600. It may cost more, depending on what they would find after taking it apart. 4) They found that the right front axle needs to be repaired, which will cost $1150. I am taking a huge loss in purchasing this van. I already paid about $3000 to the California DMV for registration and taxes. They gave me a temporary registration that expires August 17th. They will not register the vehicle until it is smogged. The van will not pass smog when the check engine light is on. The van is currently sitting in the shop of the Dodge dealer. I have tried to contact Tim Roozenboom for a refund. He will not respond. read more

This place is a nightmare. Run as fast as you can out the door. Took my car there as my EX thought he could stop me from leave by draining the oil and transmission fluid from my vehicle. Had my car towed there and explained the situation. Got a call back and was told the car had no oil or transmission fluid and needs a new battery. Just service my transmission all I need done. Should have known not to let them touch my car as the first thing I did was get the stuff for a oil change after my ex left and my papa put the oil in there but didn't change the filter. Yeah need to be redone and the oil filter change but had oil in the vehicle. Paid $791.97 for the service on the transmission 3 times the cost of the dealership. Only to be told car was done. Go pick it up and halfway home the car goes into limp mode and will not go over 20 miles a hour. Take it back and say nope not fixed like you said "Well next step we can change the transmission but I tech said there may be a recall on the transmission and I should check with the dealerships and save myself the money". Fast forward and take it to the dealership only to be told there is no fluid in the transmission ask them to document everything. They do the service on the transmission but it only resolves a few issues and they recommend replacing the transmission. Pictures worth a thousand words and I have a video. Go in an talk to them about it and they are happy to look at the vehicle because they warranty there work nice where was that when I came back the first time. No I will see you in court you are not touching my car. It is already at the dealership being fixed. Want to push the blame on everything else my my ex did it again funny he is on the other side of the country. The dealership didn't check the transmission fluid right. I was driving my Dodge 4500 pulling a forklift on an important business trip when my brakes started to fail. Tim told me to bring it in so I limped it to the shop at 445 pm. 3 guys jacked it up and attempted to fix a leak on the left rear. Turned out my rotors were shot, and one of my calipers was screwed up. They were too late for getting new rotors but were able to change the brake pads and fix the caliper! Technically it was a temporary fix but they're friendliness and speed was amazing. I'll be back next week to get a proper repair. read more

March 14, 2023 and got an estimate for my brakes. I was fully aware of what was going on with them. Skylar Sibold from your company sent me a bid for $1,269.04 on March 14, 2023 @ 8:58 AM (this will be the first of many discrepancies/inaccuracies from the owner I will point out). I then stopped in on 5/25/2023 and asked if they had time to work on my 2007 Audi Q7 as I still needed the brakes done and they said they could try to work it in. I also asked if they would honour the offer of a free set of windshield wipers with any repair over $500 per our previous request on any car and they said yes. I shared with them I had a Mercedes that needed wipers and an oil change. I asked if I could have the wipers put on that car they said no problem. We agreed to schedule the Mercedes after the work was done on the Audi. I said I could leave the Audi there as I live less than a mile from their shop and I could easily walk home. They were not able to work it in that day so I left it overnight and they tried to work it in the following day. They still were not able to work it in the following day Friday, May 26, 2023, so I picked the car up for the holiday weekend. This is yet another discrepancy/inaccuracy with the owner's story. 5/30/2023 I dropped the Audi off to have the brakes done. I picked up the Audi that night. I was told by the woman when I picked it up that they were too busy to test drive it after they did the brakes but there should be no issue. I was also given a laundry list of items that the vehicle allegiantly needed because they had done a "60-point inspection" None of these items included a Brake Booster vacuum line" (which I was told by two other repair shops is standard to check when doing the breaks). It also, didn't note anything about "bleeding the breaks". She then schedules me to have the oil change on my Mercedes and the windshield wipers put on. I drove the Audi home for less than 1/2 and parked it in my garage. Just a footnote at this time. I'm the only driver in my home and I own three vehicles. I work from home and it's NOT unusual for me Not to drive a car for a week or more. I did take my 2018 Mercedes there on 6/1/2023 for an oil change and to have the windshield wipers put on. They did NOT honour their offer of the windshield wipers yet another discrepancy/inaccuracy and promise broken. Further, I did not request a 60-point inspection as it had just been to Wilsonville Mercedes and the only thing needed was an oil change. I stayed in their lobby the entire time. I was told the oil change would take an hour it took nearly two hours. By the time my car was done, I had to race out of there and get to an appointment. I did not notice they had failed to put on the new windshield wipers. During the time I was there I witnessed the owner talk to his staff with disrespect and in a very condescending manner. One of the staff took a call and asked if they could book an oil change for Thursday at 4 PM, he responded with "No, we won't have enough time to do any work that we find". They hadn't even seen the car yet!! At that time I knew he was a crook and I felt like I knew I needed my breaks done on my Audi and they could do those and I needed my oil changed and that was it! On 6/2/2023 I got into my Audi and backed up and my brakes failed me. My car would not stop when I went down backwards down my driveway. I assumed it was a glitch and drove it a bit more. It was obvious that the breaks had NOT been blead or they had been incorrectly installed. I dropped the car off with a note on 6/4/2023. To have it done properly. When I heard from Tim's Automotive they called me and told me that the Brake Booster Vacuum Line now was not functioning. I went to their shop where they showed me the line. It was obvious it had been cut with a blade of some type. The cut went down approximately 2mm to a perfect rectangle of approximately 3mm by 4mm then torn in a laceration. With this being said. I reviewed over 100 photos of failed Brake Booster vacuum Lines that day. None of the failures looked even close. They were either melted vertically or in an obvious crack form. I called them out at the time and told them I was fully aware that they had Not test driven the car (which he lied about and said he did although I was told at the time nobody did) and that it was very apparent they had cut the line and not blead the breaks. They then accused me of cutting the line myself as if I was going to put my own and my dogs' safety in jeopardy. The discount of 10% wasn't made on good faith. It was made because Tim the owner knew I had filed a report with The BBB and he wanted to save face. At the end of the day, there is absolutely no doubt that someone at their shop cut the Brake Booster Vacuum Line to gouge me. He can come back with anything trying to cover his dishonesty but if you look at his reviews on yelp or on The BBB you'll see this is a dishonest business. Enjoy your ill gotten gains! read more

Mixed feelings here. On the positive side, I got an oil change for $30, which is a good deal these days. The front desk folks were friendly. On the small negative side, I had an appointment but it still took over an hour, and on the big negative side, only one or two of the employees were wearing masks (despite the masks required sign on the door). This bothered me because the waiting room/office area is pretty small, so if you want to wait indoors, you have to be near maskless folks. I probably won't go back for this reason; it felt inconsiderate of the management to not encourage mask-wearing considering the current high number of covid cases in our area. read more

!!!DO NOT GO HERE!!! Nissan 370Z repairs Let's begin with the first problem. So I brought my car in and then called the shop once a week asking what's going on and Tim the owner said its been up on a lift looked at and him saying it has been worked on. This has been a month of him saying things have been "done" I have no car, walking to work. I go in there without him knowing and see my car STILL in the same spot and him trying to lie about it being moved. It certainly has not been moved AT ALL or any work has been done on it like he said! So after this I now call every day asking details and what his goals are for the day. This owner is a complete list and con artist Once I get my car back after 2 and half months the alignment is off and doesn't drive straight and the door panel along with passenger window doesn't work. For the alignment he said it has to "set in" were his words. Few days go by and I bring it back and they said the window will be 472$ to fix because the engine is broken... "It's not" and the door panel was still not put on correctly. Alignment was done and I take it back looking at the door panel the window isn't working because The door engine wasn't plugged back in...sure "broken" they state. I brought my car into here thinking my rear differential had gone out, Tim assured me it was not- it was the wheel bearing. I told Tim I did not want to proceed with this as I knew more problems would occur and that I did not want to spend all this money for this as I am on a budget( I told him the car was only worth 3.k). He assured me nothing would happen. 2 weeks later the rear differential goes out- what a surprise. I paid 2.5k for the repairs on the "wheel bearing", now they are asking for 7k to have my differential replaced or 3k to have my old one rebuilt not assuring me the problem would be fixed. I thought this would be a decent place to bring my car into but I was wrong. Nothing I can probably do now, but warn people of bringing your car here. Legally I will see what I can do about this. I am hurt, Tim knows my situation- he could see we are young and expecting a newborn in April. Yet that didn't matter. Thank you ! God bless you guys for your "honest" work. Dropped off car for a repair and repair date was changed 4 times, extending into 2 weeks without a car. I was told repair was complicated and would take several days to complete. They did not recommend rushing the job. When I called the morning of the 4th pick up date, gentleman on the phone told me they had not started but, "would get it done today, if nothing else comes up." I did not feel like they had my best interest in mind, nor valued as a customer. Waiting to pick up car in their front office, and hearing them tell customers on the phone how easy/fast the repair would be made me feel scammed. Thousands dollars later, no problems with repair but given a 1 year warranty. Fingers crossed. I have since taken my truck to the dealership for an inspection. All the " recommended" repairs Tim's Auto Recommend were NEEDLESS repairs, after a dealerships mechanic went through. I was also told by Tim's, my brakes needed to be replaced, though I had just replaced them 1 month before as well. I used this business because I was in a bind, and needed a fast repair. Wow... I feel like I'm family here. I took my Ford escape 2016 into my local Ford car dealership and they told me it was $1000 to repair some wheel wells which sounded crazy. I knew Tim through a friend and thought it wouldn't hurt to have them look at it and get a second opinion. Well it turns out that I just needed an alignment for $90. Tim walked me under my car and showed me underneath my hood and explained what I should be looking for. Can't trust these guys enough and wow did I save myself over $1000 of unnecessary "repairs". I brought my truck into this place. Needed a new ignition and rack and pinion. 2 weeks later I had to call them every time to figure out if my truck was being worked on. When I dropped the vehicle off all of the lights were working and there was no check engine light. When I picked the vehicle up all lights were not working and there now is a check engine light. I paid them 1600 dollars for the work before I knew the lights weren't working. I immediately brought the truck back because something obviously had been damaged. I am currently sitting in their lobby as they try to charge me again for damage I did not do. I would never recommend this mechanic shop!!! Update: rack and pinion work was done well. Ignition was repaired correctly. If this shop would have handled their mistake correctly at the end of our transaction I would have remained a customer and continued to do business with them. They need to upgrade their front office employees. I went days without a single call or update. Get organized!!!!! They lost all credibility when they had to change their story multiple times in the same conversation. Why is a secretary with no mechanical background doing initial trip checks on vehicles and delegating work to mechanics ? That same secretary trying to cover her ass and the mechanic by saying my vehicle came in with no lights working!!!! Not a single light working. Bottom line you forgot to re install the relay and fuses you took out to check for electrical draw. That's what really happened. I have been going to Tim's for many, many years, bought cars for myself and my teenagers and had all service done. I appreciate the communication if the mechanic finds an issue that will increase the cost. I also have been helped by with reliable loaner cars when needed and had the opportunity to test drive a car for a few days before buying it. There are many mechanics out there, cost may vary. Customer service is what counts more than anything else. Having a mechanic I can trust, an owner who is honest, knowledgeable and has direct oversight are all important to me. We just got our van back from being repaired at Tim's, the problem was a "Check Engine" light. They replaced the spark plug wires and that cleared the light. We have been going to Tim's for several years now since he seems to run an honest business, we don't feel like they're ripping us off. I would definitely go back there again. read more

My girl friend and I broke down in Clackamas on our way back from Bend. Trying to find a place in Portland close to home to tow the truck to, we stumbled across Tim's Automotive. They were very up front and honest with the Diagnostics while spending time to teach/show us about the nature of the trucks electrical system and what went wrong right at closing time. It was fixed the next day and even though the part was obsolete and expensive for new, they found a used part in great shape for less money. Very upfront and honest. read more

Been coming here for years, both myself and my family. Great service and caring people are there every time I need help and have issue with my vehicle. Tim makes sure what is wrong and provides a written estimate on how much it will be to fix any repairs needed on my car. If its a complex and long procedure he will always offer a loaner vehicle (with full coverage and over 18 yrs old). Ok had to go back n we had quite the attitude on us because two new things happened since we got the car back. Tim worked with us to figure it out and showed us some stuff and didn't get an attitude back at us. I really appreciate him not being mean like we were, and for helping us out. He may not want us back, but we will use his shop again. Maybe not be going back afterall, i am updating my review. I have no headlights n no daytime running lamps now either. Updating again, now my check engine light is on too. Went back n he did some stuff n changed or headlights n explained stuff that i didn't really understand, but hopefully my ol man did. read more

This shop is very slow in repairs then overcharges for work, doing work not requested-then charging for it then says you can't have the old parts due to the they have to go back to the company. Think twice before using this shop.. check with the BBB before you use this shop. read more

Buyer Beware! Tim's Automotive will take your money for very little to no work done that you could have easily searched on Google and found the solution to. This place is outrageous and you can easily take your vehicle to some of the higher ranked places nearby and save yourself some heartache. They are VERY slow to respond and charge over $100 an hour to "poke around". Learn from my misfortune: take your vehicle somewhere else and save yourself some money. read more

Of the 3 cars I've taken to Tim's Automotive, they only repaired one correctly and that cost me a bundle. I had to take one car elsewhere to be fixed. The last car was running when I took it in to them, however, within a week from getting it back, it strangely morphed into an non-operational pile of junk. Then, they quoted me a ridiculously high figure to fix my recently non-operational pile of junk. By this time, I was starting to get this feeling about them.... so I had someone else fix my car for a fraction of their estimate. On the plus side, they are very friendly (but why not?)
