We are visiting from Houston, Texas and this little cafe is now one of our favorites!!! We have just discovered it yesterday and have already been twice (once for lunch and then this morning for breakfast). The waitresses and staff are really nice and polite. The food is fabulous... I can't get enough of their green chile chicken tamales. My only complaint is that they aren't open for dinner! I have to say, Tina's is the best New Mexican food I've ever had. Her green chili cream sauce is some of the most savory additions to a meal that I've ever had, and I was amazed to find that everything is her own recipes. I only was able to come twice, but her breakfast burrito was too good not to get twice. The service was amazing and the restaurant feels like home, with a good, simple feeling of a good diner (they also have a great painting selection). It's a long wait, but it's worth the wait. My husband and I had gone in for breakfast after a brief hike. What was originally told "45 minutes" turned to 1.5 hours. We felt too invested in waiting to have to leave and felt like everywhere in town would be about the same. Once we sat down, you knew you'd be getting taken care of. We ordered the Migas and the No Name Burrito with the Christmas sauce (both red and green chile sauce). The food was flavorful, filling, and decently priced. The posole was so amazing that I had to order a cup for my self after sampling it. The migas had the right amount of spice without requiring additional flavoring. We came here on a busy Saturday morning during 4th of July weekend. We had a large group and they were able to seat us in a timely fashion. The only downside was the parking. They had an art market set up in the parking lot so we had to park on the street. The food was great - all homemade for sure. I got the Huevos Rancheros, fruit bowl and a cinnamon roll. The last time my husband and I came here, it was spot on. So good!!!! It's all I thought about for the next 4 months. Instead of trying new places like he wanted, I pushed to go back to Tina's. Our waitress was very sarcastic to the point of feeling uncomfortable. The pig candy had soft/soggy bacon. The no name burrito was very good! Wish we would have gotten the chili sauce on it instead of letting the waitres convince us of getting it Christmas style with red sauce on it too. Our drinks were empty 90% of the time. It wasn't the same as the first time we visited---and our waitress then was by herself and new! Not to mention she overcharged us $10 and got mad when we said something. Best part of ruidoso!! Came here at 10am for breakfast. Our server was great and her recommendations were all on point. I got the migas, a scramble with sausage. It was very very good, would definitely get it again. The beans it came with were also great- New Mexico knows what it's doing with those! For dessert, I got the red chili pecan pie. BEST PIE I HAVE EVER HAD. there was a slow heat to it that wasn't super spicy but just added incredible flavor. Would be a great pie even without red chili. As for the Tapas bar, while I appreciate Tina's experimenting with something new the food is rather skimpy for the price and the menu is just so so.
