Came here for dessert after dinner, got guava Bavarian, Black Forest and lychee lime. The Black Forest was quite good, whereas the fruity ones were just meh. The cake base on both the fruit cakes were quite dry. The service was good and the place is quiet. I would come here again to try their regular food.
I'm so happy I found this place! I was thinking about that little chocolate pyramid I used to get from JJ's in Kaimuki years ago. After a few searches I stumbled on this place. I was so excited to hear that the owner of JJ's reopened under the Tiny Pyramid. The space is so cute, it's tucked away in a design/industrial complex. The desserts were just as good as I remember them. I'll definitely be back to try some more!
Nice place tucked away in the design center. Came for dessert on a weekday eve. Staff is friendly and the desserts all look great. Black Forest was excellent w a tasty chocolate mousse. The other mousse desserts were ok. Food menu looks good will try next time
I had high hopes for Tiny Pyramid because most bakeries ive been to has always been amazing. However it was a bit of a let down. Tiny Pyramid is also a restaurant so I decided to have lunch here. I ordered the House Pizza (spicy) and the blend of all the flavors didn't really blend well. It was also quite oily and not spicy at all even though it's mentioned as spicy. I also ordered the green curry. It was wayyy to watery to be a curry and the shape of the rice being a pyramid is cute but its portion is so small, it left my friend hungry. Once again it was also too oily. As for the pastries, the citrus tart was a let down. The filling was not a cream of sort but GELATIN. I've never had a tart like this before and im disappointed that I did. One that I did like was their signature chocolate pyramid, their signature pastry of course. Just like some of the reviews, the service was average. The staffs do take awhile to connect with you for whatever reason but when they do they are friendly.
Why don't more pastry bars exist??? Can we open more please? Asking for a friend. They have a bistro menu for lunch & dinner comprised of sandwiches, curry, pizza, pastas, etc. BUTTT the star of the show had to be all the pastries & baked goods. We spent about 10 minutes trying to decide which ones to get. Everything looked so so so delectable. We ended up getting a fruit tart, guava cake, and chestnut mousse. My fav was the tart-- perfectly fresh, flaky, and sweet. Definitely need to come back to try another assortment!
I came to the restaurant a few times and I like it. Friendly service, they treat the customers like their family. The food was great, the flavor was well balanced and there are varied desserts to choose. So, it was cozy and pleasant to dine in the restaurant.
I am sad to give 3 stars review as food was good although it took awhile. My entree was Crying belly. There was more of starch than protein. Tiny pyramid, chocolate mousse, was good. We got another dessert but it tasted old. The service and ambiance were just not there. I like to believe maybe we came here on a wrong evening. I book marked this place a long time but the location is kind of out of the way. It's located across from Liliha Bakery in two story building full of home interior stores like Abbey's Carpet. They have extensive desserts on display inside the restaurant but all the sittings are outside, open air but covered. With that said, if you don't mind the plastic smell from all the interior home interior stores you might like this place. It's quiet and peaceful. Parking is free.
Had Father's Day dinner here. They have more options on the a la carte menu. More options available. We usually get the four course meal (any dish can be swapped for the four course meal). By the entree comes I'm almost full. I enjoy the lamb Wellington always cooked perfectly with the pastry crunchy and lamb the right temperature. Finally desserts ... I had the le cafe, it's coffee mousse, very moist and my husband had the peach mango, very soft and moist, with a lot of fruit flavor. Our servers were very friendly and quick. The owner is also friendly. This is a lovely private space also very good for private parties. We previously held a private party here. Good for 60-70 people.
A find at the Tiny Pyramid... With so many places to see and experience Tiny Pyramid was one place that I had yet to try and it's probably seeing many seafood (allergic) on their menu that I haven't given them a chance though yes they do have several other options the choices are quite limited. On this day it was for a relaxing dessert time and after seeing all the various treats it was the perfect time to give them a peek and as they're located in the Nā Lama Kukui which is just before City Mill has lots of parking it was easy to find...much easier than my choices of desserts. As I entered the shop I wasn't prepared to see so many various desserts in their display case from the classic red velvet to the famous Chocolate Pyramid as each dessert done so beautifully so artful and each different in flavor I'm very impressed with the choices though sadly the rest of the shop is like an afterthought with a huge Grab N Go and Sip pricing signs though I'm sure all was great it didn't do much for me as the vibe was meh. I decided on a Lilikoi Iced Tea and Banana Haupia which I just couldn't resist to which we pay first and suggest cash or debit as they charge 3% for credit card transactions we then sat outside as the staff was to bring our orders to us and my tea was in a mason jar is a nice and very refreshing sip on this hot afternoon was very much needed and the Banana Haupia was a very very light and airy bite could I taste the banana...honestly not really but it was yummy and I thoroughly enjoyed it all as to just sip and relax was very nice and comforting. Thank you!
Omg omg, this place is wonderful!! This is a hidden little sweet place that has a great food and amazing sweets. My only real complaint and it's not a bad one, I thought my cappuccino wasn't the best. Tasted more like an instant taste, but this could be a me issue. We ordered the strawberry shortcake, the tiny chocolate pyramid a cappuccino and a crab cake sandwich with an accompanying salad. $42 Service was fast and the lady working was kind and helpful and so nice. This place is hidden in a strip mall area. So you park and walk inside the mall. Its shaded and cool and adorable and has ample seating.
Interesting menu with Asian fusion items and a wide selection of desserts to choose from behind a glass case. The location is pretty interesting, inside a business plaza with home furnishing stores, show rooms, interior design stuff, piano planet, a ballet academy, etc. and then there's a restaurant with tables outside in the hallway. We didn't think there would be people on a Wednesday night but we're wrong! Few tables were already occupied when we got there and more people were arriving after us! A lot of interesting things on the menu, so we decided to do the 4 course meal. They got a lot of lobster offerings so it's definitely tempting to just choose everything lobster. We almost did but didn't! We got two 4-course meals - lobster pad thai, poached lobster with fettuccine, soft shell crab, baked oysters, cream of corn soup and desserts from the glass case (azuki, le café and chocolate pyramid). The lobster was cooked well without being rubbery and was seasoned well too. Not the best lobster, but quite decent. The taste of the pad Thai was good, but the tofu wasn't very fresh. I wish the sauce on the fettuccine was a little thicker and creamier, it's almost like a milky sauce. The soft shell crab was just one piece and it was small. I think we got it because it's something other than lobster. The oysters were tiny after they're cooked and it was just mayo on top, it could use some garnish? The star of the show was definitely the cream of corn soup. So good!!! I could eat 2 bowls of those. I also enjoyed their famous chocolate pyramid. It's like a thick mousse with cocoa powder on top. The cake part of their desserts was a bit dry. Overall I enjoyed the meal. Their menu has other interesting items I wanna try so I think I'll come back!
Artful presentation of delectable foods await you, including a plethora of eye catching and delicious desserts! We enjoyed attentive service (note: our server even asked the chef for milder sauce - without my asking for it - and came back to ask if I'd prefer switching my order back), well-filled water glasses, a terrific looking menu (sorry, no photos), and perfectly simple airplant table decorations that looked so real my colleague tried to confirm it by touch. Table service is directly outside of the dessert store, while servers place their main orders through a window. The "mall" has many small stores, but the spacious walkway means no one is "in your dining space". Our office staff ordered curries and fettuccine dishes, and I ordered the Fisherman's pot pie. Everyone enjoyed their entrees! Naturally, dessert here is a must! I tried to attach a video of all the gorgeous hand made desserts they offer in the refrigerated case, including packaged cookies to go, which are displayed against the ewa wall. However, there are so many I couldn't trim it for posting;( Our staff had Le cafe (coffee mousse), a tiny pyramid (dark chocolate dusted mousse), raspberry/pistachio torte, fruit basket, azuki haupia, and chocolate macadamia torte. Wow! (Our server hand made each coffee that was ordered to complement the desserts.) They ask you to check your bill for errors, and they quickly rectified one for us. I personally can't wait to return and try another entree and dessert!
My sister has been urging me to come here. We decided to eat here last night, and it was delightful. We each did the four-course option. Menu A was $45 each. Personally, I thought it was a steal. For three people, four courses, it came out to $159 without tip. I highly recommend tipping. With only one person serving everyone and cashing everyone out, she did amazing. I had the cream of corn as my first course. It was absolutely delicious with a nice touch of heat. My second course was the baked oysters. I would honestly rate this the lowest of all four courses I had, around a 6. Very fresh. My third course, the entree, was the Seafood Brioche. The sauce was delicious! A very nice variety of seafood. I found myself surprisingly full by the time dessert came. I had the Azuki Bean Haupia and ordered the Le Café as an extra. These were so good. The tables and chairs are seated right outside the cafe (still within the building), the desserts situated inside the cafe. It's a very relaxing vibe. I would definitely come here again. Tiny pyramid, the setting, the food, I think it brings to mind the words, Casual Elegance.

No, the building is not shaped like the Luxor in Las Vegas. But, they do specialize in creating chocolate Pyramid cakes in various sizes, and they're really good. Decadent for sure. For a guilt-free treat, try the "Tiny" pyramid before the upgrade to large. ;-) Chocolate Pyramid: Dark chocolate mousse with chocolate sponge cake. Raspberry Chocolate Pyramid: Chocolate mousse and chocolate sponge cake, with fresh raspberries. Gluten Free Pyramid: Chocolate mousse covered with chocolate ganache. I think Tiny Pyramid is actually the perfect place for "Ladies who Lunch." A dainty entree + a pretty dessert = Ohhhh la la! Let's come back to try something else next time! Or, simply drool while viewing the large display case of desserts and order them to-go. One of my favorites is actually on the Dinner Menu: Sea Scallop Napoleon Puff Daddy! It's a puff pastry served with scallops, eggplant, red bell pepper, and zucchini in lemongrass curry sauce. French cooking with an Asian twist and I like it! The new normal may not allow us to dine-in at the moment. But when we can, Tiny Pyramid has a semi-private, air conditioned dining room for either one large party or a couple of small groups. Then there are the tables outside, no A/C, but at least it's covered and in the shade by the structure of the Na Lama Kukui Center. read more

I've been coming here since way back when they're location was in deep honolulu. . Thank god their here now cause having to find street parking before was scarce. This location has outdoor dining which is nice because it's located in a hallway/walk area so you would avoid the heat from the sun beaming on you. They have a showcase full of beautiful desserts. I always get me the tiny pyramid & a fruity one to offset all the chocolate. They also have a nice selection of entrees to choose from. My go to was the fish and the softshell crab. Employees are always so welcoming and friendly. read more
Yum!! Tiny Pyramid Bistro and Pastry is a must try if you love intricate yet simply satisfying dessert treats and bistro food. I loved the atmosphere of their small space and how nice everyone was there, even the chef who came out to tell me thank you for waiting! I ordered a ton of pastries and appetizers to take home for my family. My favorite so far: sweet potato haupia - it's like eating a delicious cloud of fluff! Everything was good! The chocolate, the fruits, nom nom nom. For the appetizers I tried the soft shell crab, baked lobster, and smoked salmon rangoon. The baked lobster was the bomb! I LOVED the avocado mousse thing you put on top, and the apples were the perfect finish. It's kinda like dynamite lobster on a little baguette...drools. The crab and salmon were also on point, the salad and dressing was perfect on all of it. I'll definitely be back to try more food and pastries! Just keep waiting. - Randy Pausch About two years ago, when the COVID-19 pandemic started and everyone's lives were put on hold because of the lockdowns, fellow Elite Debra N reached out to me to meet for lunch. We exchanged contact information through Yelp's PM because we were sheltering in place to protect ourselves, family, friends, and others around us but vowed to meet when restrictions were lifted. Fortunately, since several FDA-approved therapeutics and vaccines have been developed, we took comfort in getting together safely with others outside of our immediate circle. With our State's recent lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, Debra contacted me to meet. We decided upon Tiny Pyramid because of its noted French pastries and French-Asian-inspired cuisine that we missed from its former Kaimukī location (JJ Bistro & Pastry). Tiny Pyramid is located in the Nā Lama Kukui Lifestyle and Design Center, formerly Gentry Center, on Nimitz Highway. Nā Lama Kukui' on Nimitz Highway faces the Honolulu Waterfront (sorry, there aren't romantic views). Still, one can expect an industrial vibe since its neighboring businesses include the former Dole Cannery, City Mill Hardware & Lumber, and other warehouses. This design center features a large parking lot for its tenants and customers. We arrived a few minutes before our noon meeting and checked in with Tiny Pyramid's hostess, who immediately seated us and watched for Debra (who we had never met except through Yelp profiles). I recognized Debra right away as she walked toward the restaurant. She mentioned that it was a good thing we had exchanged contact information because, unbeknownst to me, she was blocked from my Yelp posts. I think it's a glitch because I've had others block me only to find out later that it was unintentional. While perusing the lunch menu, Debra suggested Tiny Pyramid's Four-Course prix-fixe menu, which only appears on their dinner menu. It's a good thing that Debra is a regular at this restaurant which helped to guide us to a more fabulous lunch because I was "on the fence" over two different entrées. Both Debra and I chose the Four-Course prix-fixe, while my husband chose the Soft Shell Crab BLT sandwich. After placing our lunch orders, Debra and I promptly walked in to select our dessert from Tiny Pyramid's luscious pastry display case. FOOD: 1. Cream Corn Soup with Blue Crabmeat (option to not have the crab meat if you're allergic or don't care for shellfish) 2. Soft shell crab with a small side salad (dressed with house-made ginger-sesame seed dressing) 3. Lao Pot Pie- deconstructed pot pie with chicken breast sliced, potatoes, zucchini, onion, and carrot in chef's house tomato ragoût. The ragoût had a nice balance of tomato acidity, seasoning, and mild spiciness. The vegetables and chicken were fork tender, yet they retained their cut shapes. The stew didn't have a thick gravy as one finds in Hawaiian stew, nor was it broth-like Vietnamese cà ri gà (curry chicken stew) or bò kho (beef stew), but you'll want to sop up every drop of sauce with your puff pastry. 4. Marron Glacé: chestnut mousse with rum covered with chocolate ganache atop flaky pâté brisée. I love chestnuts and was immediately drawn to this dessert as I thought about my favorite Mont-Blanc aux marrons. I knew this dessert would get me closer to that chestnut flavor but, Tiny Pyramid's marron glacé contains rum instead of vanilla. Boy, oh, boy, this dessert delivered on its flavor and light texture to my taste buds. Debra's Four-Course meal included the Cream Corn Soup with Blue Crabmeat, Lobster Bake, Fisherman's Pot Pie (seafood in green curry) and Chocolate Lover. I wasn't feeling particularly in the mood for an all-seafood meal which is why I selected the Lao Pot Pie but while eyeing Debra's entrée, I will consider ordering it the next time we're in the area. During our dine we discovered similarities when Debra mentioned that I looked familiar to her and I had a glimmer of name recognition about her. We worked at and retired from the same workplace but in different departments for several decades. Geez! What a small world! Our conversations were fun, light and very enjoyable which made us realize how much we've missed getting together with others in person. Darn this pandemic and its variants! Thanks to Debra N, we had a very enjoyable meal and get together at Tiny Pyramid. We'll have to do it again! read more

The cream of corn soup is amazing. This was my favorite food like 15 years ago on vacation in Taiwan, but when I went back like 5 years later it was way harder to find. I haven't had this for years and it's everything I hoped it would be! The only thing that could make it better would be an optional puff pastry topping The other soup--photos do not do it justice. It's called Khang Lao, and came in a pretty little clay pot. It is tastes amazing. Strong sour tamarind flavor with generous lemongrass. I would come here just for these soups! read more
It took some time for me to find this place and now it's my best kept secret but I will share it for those reading my review. It can be hard to find but this is a cozy little place worth the effort to find. They have a few tables inside but I always enjoy sitting outside. The service, atmosphere and food is incredible. Located right off of Nimitz in the Na Lama Kukui strip mall in the former Gentry Pacific Design Center. They have free parking and usually lots of options. I believe they are still BYOB which is awesome. They will provide you some wine glasses and not charge you a corkage fee. This is Asian fusion upscale dining at a great price. Try the four course meals, great options. Also delicious is the Lamb Wellington. I also like the soup, salads and various pot pies. The presentation of the various cakes, tarts and pastries make you want to try all of them. Leave room for desert, you won't be disappointed. You can also drop in and get some deserts to go. We have just found this place and we have lived here for 7 years!! I only wished we had found this place earlier, because this place is absolutely amazing. There is simply no other way to describe this place. This place is tucked away in a shopping center on Nimitz, located right across from Liliha bakery with plenty of parking. We ordered the baked lobster, crying belly, and classic white wine pasta. The baked lobster is divine , baked in a butter seasoned sauce on a perfectly naked baguette. The crying belly is so delicious that I probably ate it in 2min. The bakery is full of decadent desserts and tarts, you would not regret coming here! I recommend everyone to come here, this place is a foodie's dream come true. read more

Many thanks to my CM Jessica. I had to bookmark this place after reading her review and after visiting Tiny's website. Trying to find this place was depressing. I drove pass a couple of homeless camps on Nimitz to get here. But that's another thing. Walking inside the building, you discover it's a series of high class shops on the first floor. If you continue walking about 25 feet from the main building entrance, you'll run into their location. Plenty of outside errr inside errr you'll see some dining tables. At the counter is a display of all their dessert and drink menu on the wall. Man everything looked good. I knew what I wanted before coming here but I had second through after scanning the menu again. I got the soft shelled crab BLT. I was told it would take 15-20 mins. (Like Phil's BBQ in San Diego. I know you read that review) I interpret the wait to mean "made to order and not sitting on some warmer plate". My dish was fantastic. From the soft bun to the crispy bacon to the aïoli. It wasn't greasy and a nice crunch. My plate came with a side salad. I believe it was ginger dressing or something close to that. Overall four stars. The food was great and everyone working there was friendly and professional. Can't give it five stars because there's no dessert menu. You have to walk inside to see what they offer in the display case. Same with the drink menu. It's on the side of the wall. Now excuse me, time to head home with my dessert cargo. M Post report: I got dessert for the family and they ate everything except for the cardboard box. First time I tried Tiny Pyramid, I came for the desserts and pastries. They're so beautiful both in the pictures and display case! Only when I arrived I learned that they offer both lunch and dinner service as well. Fast forward a few months, I decided I wanted to go Tiny Pyramid for a belated birthday lunch. The menu has such a great variety that it took quite a bit of time to decide. We shared an appetizer of the Lao roll, a summer roll with chicken curry filling, yummy! We polished it off immediately and enjoyed the mini salad it came with as well. Ultimately I decided on the their version of lamb wellington, or essentially lamb chops baked in puff pastry. The lamb chops do run on the smaller side but the flavor of both the meat and the puff pastry was swoon-worthy. The veggies were decent and the mashed potatoes were ehhh but the "Wellington" was the obvious star of the show! Does take a little bit of time to cook but well worth the wait. I had no idea this was actually the former JJs Bistro in Kaimuki that was famous for their Chocolate Pyramids until I walked into the shop and saw their eye-popping, mouth-watering selection of pastries/desserts including "the" famous Chocolate Pyramid! My friend selected this place for her birthday dinner and I'm SO glad! Their dinner options are phenomenal and so affordable! We chose to go with their 4-course prixe fixe menu for $38/person which includes a choice of creamed corn with blue crab soup or salad, an appetizer (includes a lobster option!) entree and choice of dessert. The 3 of us selected different items so we could taste as many of their dishes as possible in one seating. Everything was sooooo delicious! Birthday Girl wanted to dine here so what Birthday Girl wants, Birthday Girl gets! First, I have to agree with Ric C. about Chef JJ leaving Kaimuki. We are so happy that they reopened so we can continue to enjoy their delectable delights! Everything on the menu is incredible! Second, I also agree with Kayla M. regarding all the desserts. So many options that it's hard to choose just one. You can tell that each treat is created with love. They take special care in flavor, texture, presentation, and overall yumminess! Third, I also agree with Nadine C. regarding awesome service and lots of free parking. These are two VERY important criteria in my book. All four of us drove in separately and had no problem finding parking. Loved the wonderful service! Big mahalo to everyone at Tiny Pyramid. I came here for lunch yesterday afternoon. There are lots of tables outside and only a few tables inside the restaurant. We chose inside because it's air conditioned. It was a table by the window that left ample room for my double stroller! The deets... Service: Great & attentive service! Water refilled often and food came out quickly. Food: Escargot- Delicious! The sauce was creamy and full of flavor. Baked lobster- Yum! Lobster perfectly cooked on bread? Yes please! Loved the avocado purée that balanced out the spices. Cheese ravioli with lobster- The sauce was a little spicy. But I did enjoy this dish! Lamb Wellington- My husband ordered this dish but I did try a bite. The lamb was tender and puff pastry was perfectly golden brown and crispy. And don't forget about the amazing dessert case! We got the pyramid which is their signature dessert. If you're a chocolate lover then you must try it! Happy eating! read more
We had lunch and they gave us the lunch menu. I asked if they had the appetizer entree and dessert special like they had at JJ's years ago on Waialae. Yes, they have it on the dinner menu and I was allowed to have a complete meal. I had the escargo, corn soup, seafood brioche and chose the chocolate pyramid. My friends liked their selections too. We enjoyed the escargo and chocolate pyramid together. There was sufficient parking and the service was spot on. We even saw JJ as we were leaving. The table next to us had a lobster spring roll that looked good and they had a holiday log for dessert. read more

Tiny Pyramid is a little restaurant (Bistro) found in the old Gentry Center on Nimitz Highway now called "Na Lama Kukui." It is an asian fusion restaurant with a French flare....(music and presentation). Piano Planet, Abbey Carpet and Flooring and Sedona are found in this shopping complex. Lots of free parking too. We found out from family members about this place and they were spot on. Nothing fancy with dinner booths or candle lighting but a nice ambience with soft music. There were ten tables outside the Bistro with flowers on them and a menu. We made reservations for dinner. Upon arriving, we were greeted and taken to our table. Service was very good as they explained their menu. We had their Four Course Menu which included a starter, appetizer, entree, and dessert. Menu A $38 or Menu B $45+ choice with specific offering...see menu. We had a soup and a salad starter......baked lobster baguette, soft shell crab appetizers.....Poached Lobster Tail with fettuccine, shiitake mushroom, peas in white wine sauce as our entrees. I had a double Lobster tail for an additional $14. We topped our meals with their desserts. We enjoyed this little place and will be coming back again. It was a good find. read more
"Old haunts in new locations, the reboot" JJ Bistro in Kaimuki was an occasional favorite for us and was always a favorite stop when relatives visited from the mainland. When they announced they were closing many of us shook our heads as another nice restaurant in Kaimuki town was going to disappear. As is many a case, the owners said we'll be back- but as is the reality, many don't. Then, in the fall of 2018 JJ Bistro came back as Tiny Pyramid in the commercial complex across the nimitz Liliha Bakery. Under a new name, old timers will remember the nimitz complex as the Gentry Design Center. Over the years this restaurant space played host to many different food offerings, Tiny Pyramid being the most recent. They have an enclosed seating area that holds about 16 people comfortably and is used for larger groups primarily. Most of the seating is located outside the main counter/bakery show case area and is part of the open and spacious walkway through the bldg. While not as private, this does offer a more spacious feeling. JJ Bistro was always known for their 4 course meals. In effect if you chose from the list for your soup or salad, appetizer and entree, your 4th course, dessert is free. We decided to go the 4 course route. This being the first time we have visited since they opened, we opted for some of our favorites from the past. Course 1- we both decided to get their salad. A simple salad with cucumber, carrot and tomato with an exquisite ginger sesame seed dressing. Delicious! Especially with the still warm weather in November. Course 2- I opted for the baked lobster avocado. Lobster pieces baked with cheese over slices of baguette. Three pieces. On the rich side which complimented the salad. The wife had the escargot which were pieces stuffed into a baguette piece with a garlic cream sauce. We both got to try portions of each appetizer and we agreed the baked lobster was a little spicier. Course 3- I had the fisherman pot pie and the wife had the seafood brioche. Both dishes are familiar to past diners at JJs and we enjoyed both. The pot pie had a touch of curry while brioche was more cream based. Course 4- their slogan, "desserts come first" is no joke. So many choices! My wife took the chocolate pyramid, the individual serving seemingly larger than we remembered. I took the chocolate Mac nut torte, always a favorite with a cup of coffee. This was definitely the end of a perfect and delicious meal. Plus as a bonus we each got a tiny pyramid selection to accompany our dessert choice as part of their first anniversary celebration. Might have gone for a fruit torte if I knew I was getting the tiny pyramid but no complaints- two dessert tastes are always better than one. Four course dinner cost: $32 each plus tax/tip. Well worth it in our book. We were happy to try Tiny Pyramid after reading good reviews on Yelp and also at the urging of the kid who enjoyed going there earlier and recommended we try it. The portions are not huge but the taste is great and varied. No, it's not an opu buster kind of meal but with varied selections, a relaxed atmosphere at dinner, dynamite desserts and great service, Tiny Pyramid is a winnah in my book. read more
My only regret is not trying this place sooner. It's like a hidden gem. You can't even see it from the road nor the parking lot. Key words: parking lot. Yes. You don't have to lose your mind or get gray hairs from trying to figure out where you're going to park your car. Parking is plentiful. And in a nutshell-- You get the culinary experience of fine dining without breaking your bank. The cream of corn soup is not as thick and creamy as most places, but that did not bother me at all. The flavor is on point and the bits of corn add the perfect texture. Next- the Parisian. It's pate made from duck and was delicious. My husband is more of a pate person and he cleaned the plate. The two stars-- Lamb Wellington AND Fisherman's Pot Pie. Holy mother of pearl. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the puff pastry--the PUFF PASTRY is the hands down, the best I've ever had. Each layer is perfectly crispy, light, buttery heaven. Same for the puff pastry in the Fisherman's Pot Pie. This dish sings with flavor. The green curry has a tiny kick to it, which I wish there was more of. The fisherman's pot pie is a comfort food, a marriage between Southeast Asian and French flavors. I almost licked this plate clean. I know, I know. Tiny Pyramid is known for its desserts and pastries, right? Well, we only tried the sweet potato haupia and it was good...BUT the other dishes were so amazing I barely remember the dessert. I guess that just means I'll have to go back (over and over and over again) to taste them all! The desserts were all SO GORGEOUS and decadent. I'm genuinely excited to try them all. You know what? Went here for lunch today, I had the soft crab BLT with served with a tossed salad. It was really tasty. Enjoyed it! Just a quick note, eat it rather quickly cause the bread will get soggy but it still tastes good! My husband ate appetizers for lunch, soft crab & baked oysters, he enjoyed them, in fact he ordered another round of oysters while I had desserts! My dessert of choice which was a hard decision to make was the Blueberry tart & sweet potato cake sponge cake! I enjoyed every bite! Definitely, need come back! STILL OPEN FOR TAKEOUT call ahead or walk in they still have all of their deliciously decorated decadent sweets too! i like the fruity mousse, cheesecakes, and the tarts! have not tried their signature chocolate pyramid though. cheesecake is creamy and light, with a crumbly graham crust. the two haupias have a bottom layer of yellow fluffy sponge cake, and not an actual crust. both were light and slightly sweet, nothing super over the top or rich. i have yet to try their actual food food since i go here specifically for their desserts, but the menu sounds and looks tasty! lunch here is def next on my list of things to do! read more
Stopped by to get a few desserts. They are so pretty to look at and they have a wide variety of Cheesecakes, tarts, and various desserts. Didn't get their namesake dessert this time, but did get coffee, chocolate, haupia, and lilikoi flavored desserts. Ate the Chocolate Mocha bar dessert...the dark chocolate flavor was intense. I'm sure the others will be just as delicious, and they are all beautiful to look at. Parking was plentiful when I stopped by at around 5pm. Located just across from the Liliha Bakery in Iwilei. I ordered me and my husband's BD cake for our BD party here. Actually our party was at buffet restaurant so I and my husband thought "there are many dessert at buffet, we don't need to order our BD cake. But aunties said "NO! Need a BD cake for BD party!!" Ok. But I was thinking "I don't want to have not good BD cake." I have a good friend who knows this place well since they're still as "JJ" at Kaimuki. When I was looking for the bakery for our party he recommended here. There are lots of free parking, that's good point. They have many varieties of cakes and everything looks so good!(presentation is so nice!) I ordered lilikoi chocolate cake. I couldn't decide what size I should order. Small 8inch round?! (because we have many dessert at buffet) but if everybody want to eat this cake, should order bigger size?! At that time JJ was in a store and he suggested me to order 12×12 because easy to cut and serve for the guests. That's very good suggestions for me!!!(Thank you!) So I ordered our BD cake (choose flavor, size, and any letters on it). If you want to order the cake, should come to order couple days before the day you need. Well, the cake was wonderful! Everybody loved and enjoyed our BD cake at the party! They serve not only cake but also food(from JJ bistro menu), so next time I'd like to sit and have some food and cake here! read more
I think the restaurants that are hard to find has the best and unique foods. I was thoroughly impressed with this place. It was in a design center. There was not a lot of foot traffic and it wasn't bUsy because nobody knows about this place. And it's a bakery with beautiful desserts. They look too good to eat!! We had a party of 12 so we ordered two of everything. We loved the fisherman pot pie! It had a green curry sauce and it was so modern looking than your normal pot pie. I loved it and wanted mOre. The duck leG was Very tender and delicious. Actually easy to share. We also enjoyed the Laos rolls which was good. We had the Kahi soi which I loved the crunchy noodles on top. The cheese raviolis with lobster we tried rEd and white sauce. Get the red sauce! It has a little kick and we loved it. We tried 5 desserts and loved them and shared them all. Honestly I didn't come here with high expectations, since I wasn't a fan of JJ's when it was in Kaimuki. But I am now a huge fan of Tiny Pyramid, maybe because the concept is a little different now that JJ's daughter is running the restaurant? In any event, the soft shell crab sandwich is BOMB. The soft shell crab has just the right amount of breading, and of course the avocado and bacon just takes it to another level. I like that it's served with salad instead of fries or something unhealthy - it makes me feel like I ate a pretty healthy lunch (minus the "fried" part). We finished our lunch with something that has chocolate and peanut butter, and one of the cheesecakes - both were excellent. And this is why you should always try things at least once - you may just end up liking it!! read more

This is an interesting place. It is in a really strange location that you have to Google it to find and would never know it was there otherwise. However, they have lots of parking and it is easy to get to once you know where it is. The dinning area is out in the hallway of a home decor design center or sort of a mall. It is very open, but the acoustics are horrible, so don't expect a quite dinning experience. Also, their seating is very close to other tables and it was a bit annoying having two tables on each side of us with loud talkers how laughed and giggled all throughout their meals. I had the Fisherman's Pot Pie which was basically a seafood green Thai curry under a pastry puff. It was very tasty. However, the corn soup was rather lack luster. The really bomb, was dessert. I finished with their signature Chocolate Pyramid and it was excellent. All of their desserts look fantastic and with my sweet tooth, I want to go back and try them all. Their service is very friendly and accommodating. The 3 staff working that day were all pleasant and professional. read more

First updated review! I came here last time for the desserts and this time for the meal! This cafe is the perfect place to grab lunch and have your dessert with coffee after. The dine-in tables are evenly distanced from one another so it feels safe to dine in. The staff provided great service, sat us down at a table available and of our choice, brought cups of water, and the menu. I ordered the Classic Hen which came with Laotian herb-marinated cornish hen, served with mashed potato, carrot, red bell pepper, and sweet pea in rosemary cream sauce. The small hen portion was just enough to make me full. The rosemary sauce was a nice touch as it enhanced the flavors of the hen and mashed potato. The vegetable compliments then hen and mashed potato well. The Garlic Shrimp Pizza was absolutely amazing! We thought the price was for one slice of pizza, but to our surprise, it was a small pizza with four slices! The toppings are shrimp, onion, red bell pepper, and zucchini topped with crispy garlic flakes. The crust was crunchy and I love the cheese melt! My friend got the Fisherman's Pot Pie which comes with puff pastry with clam, salmon, scallop, shrimp, bamboo, eggplant, zucchini, and red bell pepper in light green curry sauce. When I heard "pot pie", I automatically thought of chicken pot pie. However, this puff pastry is much better! It tasted flakey and great with the curry sauce. I also noticed they have a dinner menu! I've had my eye on this bistro and pastry bar for a while now, and finally got the chance to check 'em out this past week! Conveniently located in the Na Lama Kukui Center (formerly the Pacific Gentry Center), this biz is serving up delicious eats and treats on the regular. Specializing in Asian fusion cuisine with French style cooking and South East Asian flavors, their four-course menu is one you definitely don't want to miss. Don't even get me started on their wide variety of pastries--with over 40 of them to choose from in their sparkling clean showcase, deciding what to get may be the toughest decision you'll have to make all day. Masterfully crafted and beautifully presented, each pastry is a work of art. Have you seen some of the pics?! This place is amazing; from their signature chocolate pyramids to their tarts, cheesecakes, and my personal favorite: their earl grey dessert, I can't stay away. This place is a pastry heaven. Tiny Pyramid offers beautifully made and artfully decorated pastries along with variety of lunch and dinner options. I usually start off by writing about food and then onto desert but Tiny Pyramid changes that order. Pastries are to die for here. They are beautiful, colorful and shiny. The hardest part?? choosing which option to get! Now the food : You can either order a la carte or choose from their four course menu which consists of soup/salad, appetizer, main and desert. Lobster Pad Thai (stir-fried rice noodle and egg in citrus xo sauce, topped with Maine lobster tail and garnished with bean sprout ), Fisherman's Pot Pie (puff pastry with clam, salmon, scallop, shrimp, bamboo, eggplant, zucchini, and red bell pepper in green curry sauce), Sea Scallop Napoleon (puff pastry with scallop, eggplant, red bell pepper, and zucchini in lemongrass curry sauce) and Lamb Wellington (lamb chop wrapped in puff pastry, served with red bell pepper, sweet pea, and mashed potato in black pepper cream sauce) are some of the dishes I've tried and liked. I loved everything about Tiny Pyramid! All of their desserts were beautiful and delicious. The place was so charming and I enjoyed the ambience. They also serve coffee, tea and juice. Tiny Pyramid is a great place to come to meet a friend or end the date night with their awesome desserts. They have a really nice variety or desserts to choose from. They are known for their Chocolate Pyramid, but have at least two dozen different things to choose from. We tried the Raspberry Chocolate Pyramid, regular Chocolate Pyramid, Strawberry Shortcake, Eclair, and Mango Peach cake. All were good, but our favorite was the Raspberry Pyramid! Pure LOVE and BLISS each and every time I visit Tiny Pyramid! The service is top notch and attentive with friendly staff (KUDOS to Lesley!) for an experience you'll never forget. Time and time again we order the Tuna Wellington, Green Curry, Crab BLT Sandwich and Fisherman's Pot Pie! then for dessert, we always try something new with their ENDLESS assortment of tarts, cheesecakes, chocolate pyramids (etc. etc. etc.!). Number ONE place for a small separate, individually wrapped, mess free desserts for a party or birthday! Anytime I need a quiet place to meet a friend or host a business lunch, I go to this place! My non-profit board loves having our monthly meetings at Tiny Pyramid because there's lots of space, the most accommodating staff, BYOB, and the best desserts to end the night on! My favorite dish so far is the Rosemary Cream Noods with tofu and veggies -- definitely hits the spot. As for desserts, I'm a sucker for their tarts and pyramids!!! My goal is to try a new dessert every time I'm there :) There's also ample parking, two gender-neutral bathrooms, and WiFi available. Casual atmosphere with excellent service. read more

Finally got here to use my Xmas gift card! I had lobster pad Thai and friend had soft crab shell sandwich. We'd eat it again - that's the test. Would you eat it again? Pad Thai was generous serving and great flavor. Dessert was a tiny dark chocolate pyramid. Hits the spot. The service is very helpful and seating is airy and roomy. Wonderful place. read more
