Found the gem in Chinatown. This is a beautiful cafe. I love the modern vibe of the clean lines and the lighting. Relaxing and the perfect stop for unique sweets and savory snacks. Everything looks incredibly delicious. The loafs of bread, the cakes, the cookies, hand pies ....many choices. Lots of vegan options too! Service was top notch. Everything was explained well and we surely appreciated the extra care we were given. We ordered the Chicken Pot Hand Pie and the Kim Chi Reuben Hand Pie. They heated up the pies for us. Flaky crust filled with chunks of delicious filling. Savory flavors that go well together. The Spam Bao had a small spicy kick of mustard. Yum. We also ordered the Peanut Butter Whistle - So very Yummy! Definitely getting this heavenly delight next time! Highly recommend if you love peanut butter and chocolate. Came here to try a few sweet and savory items. Good friendly service and appreciate that they offered to heat up the hand pie I got. Three items stood out for me and would definitely get again - Ludovico Chicken Pot Hand Pie, Black & Lilikoi, and Roasted Pineapple Coffee Cake I was looking forward to their Coconut Cake but it had too swiss meringue frosting. Absolutely obsessed with the POG cake at Mille Fête. The flavor was so thoughtfully layered...every bite felt like a tapestry of textures and tastes coming together perfectly. Light, rich, tangy, slightly sweet, and incredibly balanced all at once. I also had the potato salad bun and it was super yummy. It had a little kick to it (baby spice status) the bun reminded me of Thanksgiving in the best way -- cozy, savory, and nostalgic while still feeling unique. The employees were incredibly kind and patient while helping me decide between the coconut and POG cake, which made the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. This is the perfect place to meet a friend for a high-end experience without breaking the bank. I came on a Saturday around 3:45 p.m. and it felt relaxed but still lively. Stopped by and tried their Vietnamese coffee, and it was easily the best one I had on the island. Strong, smooth, and perfectly sweet without being overdone. It had that bold coffee flavor with just the right creamy richness. Definitely the kind of drink that wakes you up and makes you want to come back for another. What a charming and fun bakery! We had dinner down the block and knew we had to stop in here for dessert. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and honestly the staff here is a highlight! The team behind the counter was fun and engaging. We decided to try the Pistachio and Pineapple cake as well as the Lemon Whoopee Pie and both were well prepared and tasty with just the right amount of sweetness that really allowed the flavors to shine. Now that I work in Chinatown, it kind of gives me the opportunity to check out all the businesses around. I stumbled upon Mille Fete before my shift and wanted to grab coffee for a long shift. Mille Fete has a pastry counter full of creative pastires such as cakes, ice cream, pastry pockets, cookies, and so much more. Since I had around 15 minutes to kill, I tried their cake sale, which was a bite sized savory cake. They offered to heat it up and it was delicious. The irish balls were delicious, as was their raspberry/lychee/lilikoi/rose sorbet. I wish I had that readily available every time I'm outside or at home, which of course would be all the time. We had a couple other sweets, all of which were very good. It's a little pricey, but you're getting quality bakery items that you can nibble on either inside, walking around Chinatown, or take home. I probably come here way too often, but what can I say? When the baked goods are this delicious, how can you not?? They've got sweet and savory pastries, some spectacular cakes (my fav is the POG), and sourdough bread (that comes in a loaf!!), as well as some drinks/coffee. The menu usually features seasonal items but there are also OGs that are always there whenever I go--so much to choose from, it's always fun to trying something new! A skip and hop away from their their sister restaurant, Fetè, Mille Fete is another lovely addition to Chinatown. My go-to lil treats are their peanut butter whistles when I'm feeling sweet, and their chicken hand pies when I want something savory. I can never leave without getting a loaf of their sourdough bread either. The space itself is bright, clean, and minimal with a few seating areas. Whenever I am in town grabbing an iced matcha from one of my favorites next door or dining up the street, have to stop by Mille Fete. Whether I say I'm only going to show guests the bakery or if I know I will buy one or two of my favorite "cake sale", I seem to always end up with more! Today Robyn Mai, Owner of Mille Fete and Fete Restaurant up the street was introducing me to the many wonderful breads baked there. Ended up taking out a gigantuous loaf of sour dough bread and two cake sale. Lol. Have also tried just about everything in the showcase. My sweet treat favorite is the olive oil citrus cake. Bursting with flavor, you will want a cup of coffee or tea close by to compliment. Also love the bubo cookies. Space is bright and inviting with the largest picture windows. Often decorated for the season. Beautiful Christmas trees decorated and line the entrance. Parking can be a challenge. There are a handful of metered parking just outside of bakery. There is also a municipal parking lot just a short half block away accessed on South Beretania St. And I am told that if you are going to just pickup your treasures to go, you can pull into one of their stalls in back. Ever since late February, when Mille Fête Bakery opened in Chinatown, I've longed to experience the sumptuous baked goods by chef Robynne Maui, the chef/owner of Fête, a modern American restaurant, and winner of the 2022 James Beard Award for Best Chef of the Northwest & Pacific, and collaborator, New York City's gourmet pastissier partner, Katherine Yang. However, I finally made it to Chinatown this past week with my visiting relatives to try this new bakery. Upon entry into the extensively renovated former space of the 20+ year old restaurant, Little Village Noodle, we were struck by the sparkling glass pastry display cases, bright white walls featuring their beverages/frozen treats menu and baked goods (cakes, cookies, breads, and sandwiches) menu, banquet seating with small tables, a dine-in countertop with stools facing the large picture windows overlooking Smith Street. Behind the counter, a cheerful female worker greeted us and pointed out the refrigerated display case, with rotating ice cream or sorbet pints starting on the far right. We followed her along the display case as she pointed out their savory pastries, such as the Ludovico Chicken Hand Pies and Kimchi Reuben Hand Pies, leading to sweet treats such as the Pistachio Pineapple Coffee Cake, Pear Cranberry Calamansi Loaf, and Black & Liliko'i Cookies. After we decided on several pastries to go, we stayed and sat at the counter, where my brothers-in-law rehydrated with iced beverages while enjoying the cool, air-conditioned space. We ran into Chuck Bussler, chef Robynne Maii's husband, whom we met years ago while dining at their nearby Chinatown restaurant, Fête. Mr. Bussler was enthusiastic and beaming with pride as we congratulated him on his wife's James Beard Award win, opening this bakery, and maintaining their highly rated modern American restaurant, Fête. We decided to get the Ludovico Chicken Hand Pie, which is a tasty chicken pot pie filled with tender pasture-raised chicken in a creamy white sauce, complete with peas and carrots. It was a good thing that we cut them open before taking a bite, as my husband, who doesn't care for the taste of peas, managed to pick them out. $7. The other Kimchi Reuben Hand Pie was filled with mildly spiced gochugaru, tender corned beef dice, and pieces of kimchi cabbage. Its outside flaky crust was generously sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds. $7 However, my eyes caught sight of moist loaf slices of Pear-Cranberry and Calamansi, priced at $5 each. Mille Fête adapted the colorful, seasonal baked fruit quick bread slices to local tastes by adding calamansi, or Philippine Lime/Lemon. Each slice was glazed with a soft and not cloyingly sweet brown sugar icing. I couldn't wait to dig into this quick bread even though I was stuffed full with breakfast while sitting in the bakery. We're looking forward to returning to try a sandwich or other pastries with either a hot or cold beverage while relaxing in the bakery. Walking around Chinatown and Mille Fete caught our attention. Quite a few options - both savory and sweet - to choose from. After hearing descriptions and asking for recommendations, we went with the following: 1) Classic bell - upgraded version of a ding dong. Moist cake, dark chocolate, and not too sweet cream. Good choice. 2) Chocolate peanut butter whistle - better choice! Love the texture of the crunchy bits and the peanut butter. 3) Chocolate Lillikoi cookie - the cookie portion is more cake-like - reminiscent of the top of a cupcake. The combination of the chocolate with the tartness of the lillikoi was good. The sweets were not too sweet. The ice cream must be popular as we saw many ordering that - big scoops, too. Mille Fete, which translates to "a thousand celebrations," is a new bakery in Honolulu's Chinatown, which opened in February 2025. It is a collaboration between James Beard award-winning chef Robynne Maii of Fête restaurant and pastry chef Katherine Yang. Our cashier was very nice, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond in every way. She explained all the different pastries and desserts. They had cake, a black and white lilikoi (passion fruit) cookie, and empanadas. She informed us Mille Fete has a sister restaurant down the street, called Fete. Everything was fresh and the pastries were all so beautiful... I wanted to get everything! Lol. However, I was planning to eat my way through Chinatown and only ended up getting one pastry. I got the Citrus Olive Oil cake, which blew my mind! It was the best citrus olive oil cake I've ever had. It was topped with candied calamansi. We also got some coffee and coffee/soda drinks, and the carbonation provided an interesting contrast to the coffee. Our cashier even sat down and provided suggestions on what to do in Chinatown. Found this little spot after having lunch in Downtown. This bakery is the same bakery that Fete uses for their bread. They also have sweets that are made in house. The lovely lady behind the counter offered us samples of their ice cream. Hubs got the Kulolo, and I went with the maple bourbon. We each got a scoop, and I will just say that a "Scoop" is not a scoop that would be expected, it was downright huge! Very generous and we asked for lids as we weren't able to finish the scoop. A nice bakery on Smith St, in Chinatown, that fits nicely next to Poai by Pono Potions. At this time there is a nice selection of creative and unique savories and sweets, along with refreshing tipples of coffee and tea. In the works is an eventual offering of natural wines and maybe some amaro along with some small bites in the evening. Mille Fête is a collaboration with Chef Robynne Maii of Fête and Gigi Blue NYC's Katherine Yang. Most people know about Yang's outrageously priced POG cake slice, but there a a couple of reasonably priced creations that reflect her time in NYC. One, a Chocolate Peanut Butter Whistle, is like a dipped candy bar square. It is really good and really bad for you (in a good way). If I buy a few, I will consume them in one sitting. No sharing. Another is a local version of a black and white, a quintessential NYC treat. A cake cookie base covered with dark chocolate and tart lilikoi fondant icing, called a Black and Lilikoi Cookie. The flavors are good but the softness of the cake-like cookie means I will only eat a part of one at a time. For local flavors their quick breads are good. Currently, they have a Mango Ulu Bread. These a nice thick slices and they are great with coffee. For local savory the Ludovico Curry Chicken Sandwich or Ludovico Chicken Pot Hand Pie are favorites of mine. It is a beautiful clean spot filled with pre-packaged goods and nicely displayed sweets and savories. I would like it better if I felt more appreciated here. The regular front-line workers are a very warm and courteous bunch. However, I have frequently seen Chef Robynne, her husband Chuck, or Katherine up front talking to someone who knows them and totally ignoring everyone else. When the owners won't say hello to you or show some appreciation for your business, it is hard to make Mille Fête a regular stop. read more

Service is efficient and personable. 5/5 stars. There was no line at the time of our visit. We just had lunch at Fete, which is nearby. My sisters and I walked over to Mille Fete. I picked up calamansi spritz cookies, a Ludovico Chicken hand pie, a Lili bell ( Lilikoi flavored ), a black & Liliko'i cookie, and a Honey Angel biscuit. The calamansi cookie is one of my favorites. 5/5 stars. The black & Liliko'i cookie is a play on the black & white cookie. The cookie was a soft in texture and the flavor was interesting. 3/5 stars. The hand pie was amply filled with chicken and a bit on the dry side. I wish the filling had carrots or other vegetables inside. The pie crust was flaky and perfect. 3/5 stars. This was my dinner. I got the calamansi spritz cookie which was a shortbread cookie sandwich with a cooked down calamansi jam in the middle dipped halfway in dark chocolate. It was delicious! I walked to Mille Fete Wednesday afternoon to try and ease my sweet tooth. I had tried some of their items when I went to dinner at Fete recently and thought it was great so I was excited to visit their standalone store. It's located just around the corner from Fete. When I entered I was greeted immediately with a smile by a very sweet worker and an offer to explain their items available. She walked me through the different cases and gave explanations on each of them. She was so nice and helpful and helped me decide which items. My budget was $15 so I could either get their famous POG layer cake for $13 or 3 smaller items. I went with the 3 items so I could try a variety of their items to get a good idea, plus $13 for 3 items is very reasonable for here. I got the likikoi and chocolate cookie (modeled after the NYC black and white cookie), a pumpkin crunch whoopie pie, and a savory Japanese potato salad bun. Everything was excellent! I loved the tart balance of the lilikoi cookie. The seasonal whoopie pie was so good too, the filling was not too sweet and made with cream cheese, 10/10. The Japanese potato salad bun was also excellent, the bread was so soft and fluffy. The potato salad filling could maybe use a little bit more salt but otherwise no notes. The space is welcoming, clean, and modern with several tables for seating and a couple of benches outside. I want to come back and buy their bread (they sell their leftover bread on markdown!) and there's also lots of ice cream and drink options I want to try. read more

I've been meaning to write my review of Millie Fete for a while, but I wanted to let the experience sit with me. Overall, I like the concept of the food, the place is beautifully designed, but I wasn't fond of the flavors. I got a number if items, as I have a sweet tooth, including the PB whistles, chocolate cookie pack, and their twist on the black and white cookie. Truthfully, chocolate and lilikoi is an odd combo, though if you like chocolate and orange, you're probably okay with it. The whistles were my favorite. I want to love this place but it's mediocre at best. Sorry not sorry. The half and half cookie was a soggy mess with a glaze that was gross to eat. The chocolate was really dense and not very enjoyable (stuck to my teeth) and the lilikoi glaze was an interesting touch but not enough to save the cookie. I was hopeful they'd mail this since they claim their "Brooklyn" roots. Nope. The savory umami bun thing was super greasy and dense. Like an artery clogging rock sitting on my stomach giving me heartburn. The belles remind of the devils foods cakes (ie ring dings, etc) from childhood. Kind of like a gourmet ish version. They were good but again I expected something better for the price. I tried everything I wanted and the two things I loved most were the bubu cookies and the cake salé. The bubu arare cookies are so light and buttery and crispy. I could eat the whole bag yikes! They remind me of these granny cookies that we used to order from St Joseph school in Waipahu a lifetime ago. And omg, the cake salé surprised me. Who would think an unassuming, petite thing could pack such a savory punch and blow me away. I absolutely loved this. There was a nice spice to it and the texture was perfection. If there's one thing about me... it's that I love a bakery. And it's bakeries like these that really remind me of my love for pastry. Located in Chinatown, Honolulu -- Mille Fete is like stepping into a whole new world where everything is delicious. The space is bright, clean, and perfect for people watching. Not only is the space beautiful, but everything behind the glass looked like edible art. I couldn't decide between savory and sweet and decided to get both! Getting a chicken sandwich from a bakery might sound crazy -- but it was so good! From the bread, fresh veggies and flavorful curried chicken- this is my ideal sandwich. For our sweet treat we went with the ulu bread. There was something so homey, like it was baked by a friend or family member -- but that ulu really took it to the next level. There's a reason this James Beard-winning pastry chef has buzz. Mille Fête is chic, welcoming, and filled with pastries that look like works of art. The staff was sweet and patient while I took forever deciding. I went with the pumpkin crunch whoopie pie (soft, creamy, not too sweet - THE perfect fall vibes) and a cinnamon coffee that paired beautifully. Every bite felt elevated yet comforting, with that uniquely Hawaiian flavor flair. I'll absolutely be back to try more pastries. This spot is worth it! read more
