We came here for Sunday brunch post-church. The first thing that struck me was that you didn't put your name in with a hostess, you just had to wait in the doorway with all the other customers until a waiter came and asked who was next in line. Kinda odd - and I suppose it could lead to some problems if one customer decided to be a jerk and tried to cut the "line" (more like a blob). The food was alright. Standard breakfast diner fare, but I've had better. The french toast was good, but the potatoes were soggy and unflavorful. We went here with the recommendation of the staff at the Comfort Inn we were staying at and what a fabulous tip it was. We had come in to Charlottesville after a long day of site seeing Appomattax and Monticello and were ready for some good food. There were many things on the menu but the ravioli special caught our attention. In a rare move for my family we ALL ordered the exact same thing. We ordered the spinach ravioli with a tomato alfredo sauce. What can I say about this dish other than WOW!!! The sauce was lick your plate clean good. And I tell you if we were at home or sure no one could see we all would have done just that. I was a little disappointed that the pasta wasn't homemade, but that homemade sauce more than made up for it. I did ask the waitress about the pasta and sauce and she did confirm that the sauce was homemade and the pasta was not. Our waitress Remy was wonderful. She had a fun, bright, and cheerful personality I would go back just for her service if it wasn't an almost 3,000 mile drive to go there. We did however tell a friend that visits the area frequently that this place is a must. Prices were reasonable and they have a decent wine list where we enjoyed a local bottle of Virginia wine. A friend suggested we try this place after her coworkers ranted and raved about their pancakes and waffles...So here we end up on a sunday afternoon craving breakfast. Trying to get a table is an interesting challange considering they do a first come first serve basis and depending on the number in your party. So you have to wait until they have acknowledged the number in your party in order to be seated. Once seated our waitress greeted us and took our drinks. After careful decisions i decided to get the golden brown waffle and 2 eggs with a side of corned beef hash this also came with home fries and toast. Other orders were banana nut pancakes with a meat lovers omelet. Another meat lovers omelet with a golden brown waffle and a veggie omelet with grits and a short stack. Food Review: The corned beef hash had a nice crusting which to me is the best part of corned beef hash. Eggs were a little runny for me even though I ordered it over medium bonus at least there was toast. The waffle..eh..nothing special prehaps it would've been better with touch of syrup or butter but I believe a waffle should stand alone and not topped with foolishness especially because a waffle needs a crispy exterior and a fluffy center. The waffle was medicore nothing special wasn't wowed. Neither was the other friend of mine who ordered her waffle. Pancakes were okay I had a small bite of the banana nut it definetly tasted like banana and had a decent amount of pecans in it.It was fluffy but didn't have that crusting that I love with pancakes. The most disappointing item on all of our plates were the home fries. They really should just be called seasoned potatoes....then again they weren't really that seasoned either. To me home fries need to taste good alone without ketchup or any other seasonings. This was no home fries there is no crunch no flavor no taste. It was like a mockery of home fries. Tip Top serves breakfast all day, and it is good and it is cheap! This friendly diner style restaurant has a great atmosphere, it's truly a local gem, and everyone gets treated like a regular. Good for brunch. I called ahead and asked about "seating NINE inside an hour"...Greek voice said "we do this". Did not want my name. We showed up ten minutes late, line out the door. He seemed to know I was "the nine top" and we felt like Goodfellas, escorted to our table, envious daggers in our backs. They have two tables that can seat ten+. The room is packed and the din is a bit much for the hungover, not that I would know. The food is nice and you can do breakfast or lunch. The prices tag is easy and you can treat friends. This is not Houstons on Sunday but it will do. Parking is plentiful and that is almost worth a half star. I like the fact that it is a bit away from crowded grounds on Sunday and so close to I-64. This is a pretty traditional Greek diner with great entrees like chicken souvlaki and pitas. However, they have a large Americanized menu with Italian dishes and burges and such. Excuse the lingo but then pecan pancakes were a missile (which means great). A local requested the restaurant and all the food was good. No complaints. Best diner food I ever had. It's been a long time since I've had a diner style breakfast out & this place hit the spot. Local friends of ours suggested this for an afternoon breakfast & I was blown away by the delicious smell of maple syrup and coffee as you walk through the door. We were seated in less than ten minutes on a busy Saturday afternoon. Our waitress was friendly & fast. I couldn't believe how affordable this place was. 4 adults breakfast meals & drinks for $35...you can barley do that at fast food anymore. The maple syrup aroma in the air prompted me to order the two piece French toast with scrambled eggs & bacon. It was delicious. It's got a huge menu while their specialities are their Greek dishes (has Greek owners). It's a great place for brunch and their corn cakes are awesome. They have the best gigantic gluten free corn cakes around. You get three large light and fluffy corn cakes that even delight anyone's taste buds whether you are gluten free or not. Best breakfast place in cville. Dont expect a fruit bowl but your typical breakfast items served hot and fast. Get here early on the weekends cuz its crowded. Lots of seating but lots of customers. Management runs this place like a well oiled machine. Most servers have been here for years and know their jobs. I like the hash and eggs but the biscuits and gravy are awesome too. This is not fine dining by any means, but everything I've ever had here has hit the spot. So, if you're in the mood for diner food - this is the place. If not, go elsewhere. My favorite has become the chicken slouvaki dinner. For just under $10, you get a large platter filled with greek salad, chicken, pita, and fries. A side of tsatsiki sauce comes along as well. If you're looking for an old school Greek diner in Cville, this is it. The owners are always here, seating people. The waitresses are awesome - lots of personality and they'll call you honey, sweetie, or baby. We love them! The food is diner food. It's better than the other diners in town and service is much faster. You can't get granola or yogurt, but you can substitute sliced tomato for home fries when you order breakfast. During the post-church times, there can be a line to get in, but if you are early enough, you'll sail right in and probably eat with come cops or EMTs coming off a night shift. read more

My wife and I are from up north and the atmosphere of this diner reminds us of the diners we grew up around. Their breakfast and service is outstanding! We had to go up to the counter to refill our own drinks, the salads came less than two minutes before our dinner, one of our meals was completely wrong (and then took over ten minutes to remake, and it was just a plain deli sandwich), and our Florentine was basically just a bowl of sauce. Maybe you'll get lucky. My husband and I were regulars, however, this place has slipped significantly. Maybe they got new cooks? We are 50-60 yrs and we feel like spring chickens in here. It is an obstacle course of walkers, wheelchairs, and canes. The food use to be pretty good and reasonable $. The food the last few visits is just plain BAD.
