4 stars on the food, and 3.5 stars on service. I actually really love this place. it is casual dining but has this energy that is just nice. The food is just awesome!!! i have eaten many thing here including the pupusa, balleadas, enchiladas, carne asada, tacos, flautas, and many other things. BUT my favorite is the carne asada, it is soooooooooooo flavorful! and it comes iwth a side of beans and rice, damn good! i typically always strat with a pupusa con queso y chicharron which is amazing. i am sure its not healthy eating but its not a salad place. the bar does get loud at times, especially when there is a game but people are having fun. sometimes the services is a little slow(but it only happened to me once out of the many times i have been there) but this place is typically packed so you can imagine why it takes a little longer. if you go def have the carne asada. i end up craving their food and go about 1-2 times a month. love it. read more

The food and service are great at this restaurant. One of the servers, Jaime is always so friendly when we arrive. The tacos are out of this world in a homemade corn tortilla, the margaritas are great and it doesn't hurt that they are always showing FC Barcelona games on their TV! I live in the area and unfortunately this is the SECOND time something of mine has been stolen from me from there (and the FOURTH time a cell phone has "mysteriously" disappeared from a same group of friends, different times, ranging from afternoon with families to evening with friends) I luckily traced my phone back to the restaurant without placing any charges. Food is great!!! Friendly service depending on the waitress. The only concern that I have about this place is the bartenders and waitresses. There are some waitresses that dress like hookers to get men's attention. It is very unprofessional of bartenders to go around tables with their cleavage hanging out, you can literally see their nipples through their shirts. They give a lot of attention to men and ignore women. And to make it even better they show their thong when they bend over to reach for beers, while men are enjoying the view. If you are a couple 95% guaranteed your partner will go back to see some breasts and possibly more. This is the reason why I agree with Scott and needs wife's approval to go there by himself. One more thing I would like to mention, most of the time when you go and get seated by the host you have to wait around 15 min for a server to come to assist you. Once they take your order it takes no less than 30 minutes for the food to come. Tables sometimes smell like they were cleaned with dirty rags. If you are a guy you would be happy to go there, great show and food. If you're are a woman you would love the food but will be afraid to go to the bathroom and leave your partner behind. Recommendations: Servers and bartenders should act, dress professionally and not look like cheap prostitutes. This gives the restaurant a bad name and reputation. I don't mind slow service, especially when hanging out with friends, but sometimes servers here straight up ignore you. It's weird when servers get irritated when you ask for the check. I never go out to Sterling but I was visiting a friend and was craving Mexican food. We stumbled across this joint and thought we should give it a shot. We stood at the hostess stand for way too long, probably after 15 minutes, a lady told us to sit anywhere. The waiter was just as slow as the hostess; he also forgot our app. I ordered the Chicken Chimichanga which had fresh peppers on the inside; I think it cost around $12. 2 Carne asada tacos for $8?!? I think I'm just a spoiled California girl that has had delicious tacos for $1 each. But whatever. I was hungry, and needed something quick. This was not quick. :( I waited forever for 2 tacos! The 4 stars is for the meal. It was good. The meat had good flavor and the tortilla was something different, it was the thicker corn tortilla. Where do I start, when I went in I waited for 2-3 minutes with no help I went inside and asked where I could order and three ladies were just laughing there in the corner. So I finally ordered food and paid with $100 bill and I didn't have change. It took them almost 5 minutes to get change. Then when they did me change they didn't give me the cents and it wouldn't have been a problem but I didn't like their customer service so I asked for it and all they said was like we normally don't give change. Food was good, but the service was so terrible that I feel generous giving two stars. Went with a friend on Sunday afternoon and was seated quickly. A modest number of people in the main dining area and the bar was fairly packed. Music from the bar was blaring and there was a brawl and several patrons were escorted out. Our server was attentive at first and took our orders promptly, however we never saw her again until after we finished our meal! No beverage refills and no salsa refill. We both ordered simple plates: chicken tacos and beef enchiladas; but it took 30 minutes for it to come out and it was delivered by someone other than our server. We asked our surrogate server for more chips and salsa, whicn never showed up. This same alternate server (manager?) took our bill and payment at the end of the meal and it took 20 minutes for him to return. The wait was worsened after observing several other parties that seemed to know the waitstaff have their orders come out before ours even though they sat after us. I had the chance to eat here for while traveling for work in the area. I had the steak with salad and rice and beans. This was my first time. Service was slow but friendly. I ordered tacos a la cart as well as a Papusa. Everything was delicious. The chicken was a little dry but they offer several sauces/salsas to liven it up. The steak taco was the better of the 2. The Papusa was great, not too greasy- as some tend to be. Definitely for a taco spot in sterling and there are a lot, this place is the freshest cook on call flavor not like others I won't mention that just reheat. $2.50 taco that were so huge and delicious, that I'm trying new stuff every time I stop by. Legitimately the best tacos I've had in this area. Meats were perfectly cooked, the avocado tasted like it was picked fresh just before being put on the tacos. Having come from Southern California where the quantity and quality of Mexican restaurants is only paralleled by Southern Arizona and Texas I have been less than impressed with the "Mexican" restaurants in the area. However. I was quiet surprised to find this stand alone place tucked in off of Harry Byrd Hwy (RTE 7). This place is about as close as I have found to good 'ol rustic authentic Mexican Food in this area. Food came very quickly and service was fine as well. DEE-LISH! Service was friendly and a little slow, but the food was worth the wait. Had the pupusa loca and a steak taco. The pupusa was huge enough to be a meal on its own (and for $3, a bargain), the pickled cabbage was crisp and flavorful, but not overpowering. The steak was amazing - super tender and extremely flavorful. As another reviewer mentioned, the chips were not homemade, which was a little disappointing, but the salsa was fresh and had a nice charred tomato taste. Will definitely be back! read more

A gem of a restaurant. I am a real fan and it's very local. My husband and I found Los Amigos a year and a half ago. We really enjoy coming to this restaurant. The food is always consistently delicious. Excellent Mexican and Salvadorean cuisine. The service is very good. And, we always feel welcome and treated very well. We have recommended this place lots to our friends. They enjoy their experiences, too. We enjoy eating the delicious papusas, fajitas, tacos and enchiladas. The portions are very generous and the sides are great, too. The atmospehre is casual and there is a bar, so you can view sports. And, there is even a seperate party room. Recently , I worked with the General Manager, Juven Espinsoa. I had a party catered from Los Amigos for 50 people. He was very professional, helpful , accomodating and reliable. The guests raved about the food. Everything was delicious. We plan to continue and look forward to going to this wonderful restaurant. read more

Food is delicious and reasonably priced. This would be the only reason I would return. I've gone multiple time hoping it would be better. During my most recent visit: Even with just three tables seated it took a long time for anyone to come over to our table. After we ordered my friends drink was brought to the table but mine wasn't- when I asked she seemed annoyed and took a long time to bring my drink (soda not anything fancy). Getting the check takes time as well. I wish the service was better because the food is really good. read more

Los Amigos is an amazing place. Their ceviche is a citrusy, tangy version with crisp red onion slivers, avocado, and julienned lettuce serving as the garnish for the marinated shrimp and whitefish. The language barrier can be difficult to navigate, but if you can manage it is more than worth it. read more

Best pupusa I have ever had and huge portions. Prices are extremely reasonable. The tacos are fantastic as well. I have ordered from here for pickup many many times. I have sat down and eaten at the restaurant twice. The drawback is whether you're ordering to go or dining in... the staff is the rudest I have ever encountered. Fire the staff. I had given up on this place about a year ago but my wife loves the food and makes me pick up for her. She is currently pregnant and had a craving so I order for pick up. They say it takes 15 minutes for the food to be ready but that's never the case. If you order ahead it takes them about half an hour to have the food ready. So I waited half an hour and went to pick up. I stood at the front for about 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. Finally, one of the waitresses asked me if I called ahead and asked for my name. I told her and expected to have my food brought fairly quickly since at this point it had been over 45 minutes since I placed my order. NOPE. NOPE. NOPE. I waited for about 35 minutes MORE. I was the only person waiting. The restaurant was not busy. It wasn't until I started making a scene that someone came and asked me if I was waiting for my food, which is insane, I am an extremely patient person because I work in the service industry and I always try to be understanding. I told the young lady I had been waiting for over an hour(and showed her the time I placed the call) and her response was simply "Oh I'm sorry, I just didn't see you" even though I was STANDING IN THE WAITING AREA FOR MORE THAN HALF AN HOUR AND I AM TALLER THAN EVERYONE IN THE RESTAURANT. They bring me my food and I am so mad that I didn't notice they forgot to give me my wife's drink. I was halfway home when I realized they forgot to give me the drink(and charged me for it) and I had to waste more time and drive back. My wife called and talked to the manager, which is pointless(I have tried this avenue of diplomacy before and all the managers on duty ever have to say is "I'm sorry"), and they told her they were sorry and offered her 20% off the next order. It was an hour and a half from the time I placed the order(6:30pm) until the time I got the food to my wife(8:00pm) and when we finally opened up the food, IT WAS COLD. To make things clear, the restaurant is less than 10 minutes from my house. WHY DOES IT TAKE AN HOUR AND A HALF TO GET FOOD FROM A RESTAURANT THAT IS ONLY 10 MINUTES AWAY? THE STAFF. THEY SIMPLY DON'T CARE. Until they get new staff that is properly trained to care, or the management gets their act together and start training these imbeciles properly, this place will only continue to get worse. I get it, they make all of their money from drunk guys hitting on them but they do nothing for anyone that does not fit that bill. read more

This place is just delicious! I walked in the door not knowing what to expect, and after being seated and looking at the menu prices, I almost walked out. After all, how good could it be? It looks like a typical cheesy Latin style restaurant from the outside, and the loud noise from the satellite, blasting Telemundo made me think that this was gonna be just another lunch at a local Hispanic restaurant. I was surprised! The food is a bit pricey, and you will have to wait for the food, because everything is made to order. I tried the Horchata, because everyone who was eating there had a glass in front of them, so I thought it was a good indication that it would be good. Wow! Not your typical rice tasting bland drink. It is imported from El Salvador and has a nutty, creamy and somewhat spicy taste. It is about $4 a glass, but worth it. I had the steak tacos, and they were awesome! The steak was as tender as a steak from a fine steakhouse. The spices are perfect, and all of the sauces are fresh tasting. This place is worth every dime, and every minute that you will have to wait! Give this a try the next time you have a craving for something South of the Border! read more

I am beyond livid! My family and I walked in, were handed menus, and sat down. The wait staff then proceeded to ignore us for ~20 minutes. It wasn't a general problem-- they were being exceptionally friendly with the rest of their patrons-- but we, the only vanilla white people in the entire place, were ignored. We were glared at by several of the restaurant's customers and a few of the staff, though. After we sat and waited, we just got up and left.
