We stopped in for a quick, early bite at opening, 11 am. Didn't see a lunch menu but we tried the Thursday daily special, three soft tacos with chips and salsa. It came with a fountain drink. Food delivered quickly and warm but the chips were not. The tacos were a tad skimpy but the chicken was chunked not shredded with a cheese base instead of shredded cheese with took away from the taste. The salsa was tasty. A quaint little spot, clean and chill. The food was nothing to brag about but we may give them a chance and try a more substantial offering another day. read more

Been coming here for years. Never thought about a review! My fav is the 4 meat hard tacos. The hot sauce is killer! Love it!! Guac and queso are good. The dinners are exceptional! March 2022 - COVID Review: I kept hearing a lot of hype about Tippy's so my husband and I finally decided to try it one day for a takeout dinner. It wasn't bad but I also wouldn't say that it was overly amazing or anything. We just thought the menu/food that we got was maybe like a higher end Taco Bell? We got a taco salad to share, which comes in the tortilla bowl and that was pretty good and I would get it again. Then we also got the taco kit that was enough ingredients for 12 tacos. I thought this was a pretty decent deal since it was between $15-$17 depending on the taco shells that you wanted. read more

5/5, April 2021. This is what a Mexican restaurant should be. It's been ages since I had visited here and I'm really glad we made it back. Tippy's is nothing fancy and I mean that as the highest form of compliment. The food is just excellent well done eating without all the overwrought complications that many Mexican places use to justify bloated prices. I had Tacos and queso both were excellent. The Tacos were meat, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes which was perfectly balanced. I tried them with and without the Taco sauce and while I think the Taco sauce is a great addition you really can't go wrong either way. The queso was as good or better than any we've had in the area. My wife had a bean burrito and guacamole both of which were great. When you add in the great value of Tippy's I don't think you can do any better. And the food came out quick and was hot and fresh. I highly recommend it. Next time you're thinking about stopping by the trendy fast casual taco/burrito place do yourself a huge favor and go to Tippy's instead. read more

Biased vote: I used to work at Terrapin Taco House in College Park (used to be a Tippy's). This Tippy's is the closest I've had to the old CP taco house and it's wonderful. I ordered a basket of 4 hard shell meat taco's and 2 soft chicken taco's with guacamole. This order might be a little much for some, both in food quantity and price. Those 6 taco's and a drink were $17, so after tip it was a $20 taco trip. Fair price for the amount. If you can handle hot = USE THEIR HOT SAUCE ON THE TACO'S = it is homemade, delicious and has some heat. Great hard shell tacos and their chicken soft shells were great as well. My girlfriend and I went to lunch here today. I must say that the food was absolutely horrible. I felt like I got third degree burns on my tongue from the first bite of this crap they called enchiladas, the taco salad lol let's call it an olive salad packed with olives. There was no seasoning for anything it was all bland as hell. You would think for the $30 I spent I would get something with flavor. Hell no not at this place Taco Bell is 10 times better. Yes, you should go. Not just for taco Tuesday. They have a different specialty for a great price each day of the week. Don't expect anything grande bc it's just food that hits right. It's good Mexican food for the right price and gets that satisfaction. Can't go wrong with the taco salad and tacos. Would highly recommend throwing in some chips with your choice of dip. Yes, omg, I have so many thoughts about Tippy's. First off, if you're reading this review going 'ehh, 3.5 stars is kinda iffy and I want a final judgment on whether or not I should go to this place', here's your final judgment: if you're looking for cheap Mexican American comfort food with no frills, this is absolutely your place. If you're looking for craft tacos made from the beef of the finest free range cows with organic no GMO smoked ghost pepper infused Gouda, then go somewhere else because that's not what Tippy's is and it's also not what it's trying to be. But yes, as y'all know by now, I like to read the reviews of places with polarized opinions and give you my take on what I think went wrong. In this case, I really think the people who gave low reviews didn't understand what kind of restaurant this is and also they probably aren't a fan of fast food so they were disappointed. So understand that Tippy's is an excellent place for Mexican American food so Americanized that, at this point, it's probably just safer to call Tippy's an American restaurant. The decor gives off major Cactus Willy's vibes. If you haven't heard of that place, think of a very 80s or 90s American idea of a texmex aesthetic. They offer the typical Mexican American favorites like chimichangas, enchiladas, and--of course--tacos. But they also offer options like chicken nuggets and chili dogs. I opted for the chicken enchiladas and they were so tasty with some sour cream and queso on top. The whole meal with sides and chips and everything was only $10 and the food arrived in no more than 4 minutes after I ordered it. Tippy's would make excellent drunk food, and I mean that as an absolute compliment. The best drunk food isn't gourmet and makes you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside when you eat it because it's tasty and filling. Still a tasty and cheap place to eat! NOTE: One thing everyone who enters this joint should be aware of: There is a tip jar located at the register - if you insert money into this box - the owner of the joint does not give the money to the employees working that shift. The food is more affordable compared to other taco places. Unfortunately, the food is very cheap in quality. It is like buying a bag of chips in a dollar store and assembling them on cheap plastic foam plates. Taste bland and farthest from what an authentic Mexican is. We decided to stop in after getting a coupon in the mail for a buy one get one free dinner. This is glorified gas station food. No veggies, nothing fresh. I really regret the meal I had here. How do you put zero stars? This is not even close to Mexican or Tex-Mex. I'm from Southern Califofnia, grew up on authentic Mexican. This place is crap! I ordered chicken enchiladas with chili. Chili in Mexican food is basically salsa verde, NOT chili beans from a can! Absolutely disgusting! I got the nachos for my son, we could've made them at home since it was shredded cheese and not nacho cheese sauce. The gaucamole is just mashed avocado. There was no flavor to it at all. I came here for dinner on a weeknight around 7:30PM and there were only a few others inside at the time. The cashier took my order rather quickly and was rather friendly too. I tried a 4-pack of tacos and a beef burrito. The burrito was just OK, it was really simply meat and cheese and there wasn't that much cheese. It was nicely packed full of lots of beef, but really needed more, like lettuce, tomatos and maybe something else inside it. The tacos were really good, just like I remember (and it's been 10+ years since eating at a Tippy's). The shell was perfectly made so that I could eat this hard shell taco without it falling completely apart upon the first bite. It was loaded with a nice ratio of beef, lettuce, tomato and cheese to make it quite flavorful and with their house hot sauce, it was really enjoyable!
