Very disappointed. Yes its Cinco de mayo, but I had planned ahead. I put it in an order last night for pick up at 6pm today. I walked in at 5:50pm and was told to give them 10 min. I waited. A guy after me got his food so I inquired about my food again. She said one minute. I finally got my food at 6:15pm. I think they were filling in orders as they came in. I got home and my order was wrong. I placed custom orders and my tacos did not have lettuce, cheese or tomatoes. I called and got hung up on. Called again, first was told to bring it back and I said no because I just got home. I asked them to refund me. He took my name and number and said he would call me tomorrow. I plan to call back by mid day if he doesn't honor this and ask for a FULL refund. read more

Tried the carne asada tacos again and were a little disappointed. Not sure if it was an off day or if I had previously tried it on a great day. The texture of the beef was a sinewy. Never ever get the corn elote or chicken flautas. Elote- sucked. The corn is way overcooked and mushy. I couldn't get past the texture. Too much cheese and mayo. Flautas- also sucked. Even if you reheat in your air fryer, the outside will never get crispy. It comes not crispy. The inside is the driest hardest chicken I've ever eaten. Lacked seasoning. The inside is a bit small for seating but one can make do. The fact they make their own queso is pretty cool and the food is decent. The service is fine; no complaints. You order your food by going up to the counter. I wasn't fond of the bathroom situation as there was only one bathroom (gender neutral) but no changing table, so if you have a kid in diapers and you need to change, you're basically out of luck. read more

This has been my favorite restaurant for the last 8 years. I'd come here several times a week and always the best food I've ever had for a great price. 5/5. I'm giving it a 3/5 now because I got the steak fajitas and the steak was very siweny and I had to spit out at least 1/3 of it. Never experienced this before. Looking at reviews, other people say the same thing. I haven't been back since so maybe a one time thing? Again, this was the best restaurant around but something has changed with the steak, either the way they cut it or the quality. Shame, espicially since they increased their Monday fajita deal price from $10 to $15. Not surprised tho, every restaurant increases prices while quality drops. This place is an Easter egg hiding in plain sight! I can't believe I didn't know about El Fresco sooner. The breakfast wraps are an absolute steal. $3 for a regular and about $2 extra to add meat. The wrap is surprising large despite the cashier telling me it's tiny haha she said you can finish it in 4-5 bites but you definitely cannot. I felt full after just eating 1! On its own it's a little plain but goes really well with the salsas at the salsa bar. I tried one of the wraps with bacon and can't really say that the $2 extra was worth it. Seems like bacon bits were used instead of fresh bacon AND it was a minuscule amount. I almost thought that they forgot to add the bacon because I couldn't even see it. On the other hand, the chorizo was a great addition! There was a lot and the flavor made the wrap taste less plain. I decided to try El Fresco for the first time last night because I have been seeing so many advertisements in the area and also was not in the mood to cook. My order was well packed included utensils, a small sauce cup of salsa, and a tube of sour cream. I got the Arroz Con Pollo and it was flavorful and fun. It came with not only the chicken and rice but also a tortilla and a small salad. The chicken and rice was definitely interesting because it had melted cheese at the top which I wasn't expecting (I didn't really read the description when I ordered it) but I loved! I also enjoyed how well seasoned the rice was as I didn't feel the need to add anything else. The veggie taco has like a red onion zucchini base that's seasoned very well and is topped with guacamole (don't forget to add jalapeños for that extra wow taste) The fish on the fish taco is a nice sized fillet pan seared/fried, and their guacamole is really good too. Really fresh what I'm suspecting is in house made tortillas too. They do have to figure out how to get their tortillas not to fall apart during deliveries but it doesn't happen all the time or to all. And their pizzas are still amazing. It took me a while to warm up to them, but now I love El Fresco. I always order the California Burrito. It is scrumptious! It has French fries and guacamole, and to me, it doesn't need any additional salsa. I can't find a picture of the burrito because I usually eat it at soon as I get it. I have had other burritos and for others you may want to add salsa from their assortment at the salsa bar. I noticed their chips are always fresh as well. Our go to Mexican place in the area! The food has been delicious every time and we have tried most everything on the menu. The chorizo taco is hands down my favorite and my husband loves their mariachi burrito platter. Plus we can never turn down their chips and queso. Staff is incredibly sweet and friendly. We've always been greeted when we arrive and our order is always ready to go. While we have not eaten in the restaurant, it is always clean and does have limited seating available. There is nothing I can say that accurately describes how FANTASTIC this place is!! The gentleman that took our order was friendly and patient with us as we had never been there before and took a few minutes to look at the menu. The chips and salsa we snacked on after we ordered were great, and that was just the start. We got our food quickly and it was so tasty, it felt as if we couldn't eat it fast enough! My husband and I stumbled upon this Tex Mex restaurant when traveling between Fairfax and central Virginia. We were tired from shopping, and hungry. We didn't have high expectations because it seems to be a franchise -- but we were very pleasantly surprised. We are giving a 5-star rating, especially given the reasonable prices for quality ingredients. I ordered the 2-soft taco pollo asado platter, street style, which came with rice and a choice of beans. My husband opted for a salad with shredded chicken. In both cases, the ingredients were fresh and tasty, and the quantities were good. Nacho chips and salsa were also provided for the table. We we're impressed that, while we both ordered entrees with chicken, the meat was prepared differently for both dishes. We also especially enjoyed the black beans that came with my platter. The restaurant also has a toppings bar with various salsas and picco de gallo. A few minor things that are worth mentioning. 1. I would've liked to have some lettuce with my tacos, or on the toppings bar. 2. We "ate in" and it was difficult to carry on a conversation because the music was too loud. 3. The washroom is in the far back, and it's not obvious when the door is locked. 4. my bad ... I hadn't noticed that they have Mexican street corn on the menu. The service was very friendly and I like how you get complimentary chips with your order. There is also a great salsa bar to eat with your meal and chips! I went during lunch and ordered the lunch special #10 which had two carne asado tacos with guacmole, rice, and beans. For 7.49, I thought it was very worth it! The reason I give this 3.5 stars over 4 stars was that the food was very salty in my opinion. The food was very flavorful itself but I thought the salt was a bit overpowering. A former San Diego resident, these are some of the best burritos I've ever had. I got the grilled chicken burrito and added shrimp to it. Ordered first time tonight. Normally I will give a place a few tries before rating low but the food was totally unacceptable. The highlight of unacceptablity was the shrimp taco platter. It came with just 3 small shrimp per taco. A total of just 6 small shrimp for 2 tacos. They maybe covered 60% of the tortilla. Not only was the meal skimpy but it wasn't very good either. Food is actually quite good, however the service is horrendous. Waited an hour for my meal, which they said would take 20min. Granted it was Cinco De Mayo so long wait time was understandable, however after waiting an hour for my pickup order, I get home and it was completely incorrect. My main issue is the smug response from the manager who acted like it was no big deal. Wouldn't offer me a refund until the next day. I went back a few days later and he still had zero apology for the screw up or my experience as a whole. Just not the right person that should be in management, especially running the store. So, my option is to visit the Centreville location which is not too far from me. I'm still loving their chicken soup enchilada and there guacamole. I mean it's a pretty awesome guacamole. I can eat it all day, everyday. I think I pretty much try most of their menu there are certain items that I do not like the arroz con pollo. Staff is very nice. They take your order quickly and food is usually served very fast. They bring it to your table. I mostly do carry-out or delivery. During peak hours, delivery can take up to anywhere from an hour to 2 hours. Crazy! I know, but I can understand because they're actually really good. 4 stars. read more

El Fresco has become our go to stop after our annual trip the Bull Run Festival of Lights. Seating is pretty limited inside, especially now with COVID. But the staff is super friendly and the food came out very fast, along with a fresh basket of chips. I love the salsa bar options- mild and pico available for the kids and ones with a little more kick for the adults. My quesadilla was perfectly crispy with lots of melted cheese and well seasoned grilled chicken. My daughter always likes the kids taco with rice (and an extra helping of chips.)
