I felt like this was the most rushed manicure of my life! 1.) The nail technician literally ripped off all of my acrylics and broke two of my nails. It was noticeable that I was in a significant amount of discomfort, but she would pull my hand back and say "almost done". 2.) I selected a gel color that looked good on the swatch, but after she put it on one nail, it didn't look as good as on the swatch, so I asked if I could change it. She rolled her eyes and wiped my nail off (with her finger) and then asked what color I wanted instead. I didn't realize changing the color after only painting ONE nail would be such a burden. 3.) My cuticles were over trimmed, with two fingers left with open cuts. 4.) Some polish was left on my fingers after she finished my manicure 5.) I'm going to be picky here, but she spent maybe 2 minutes total on my hand massage... Went to Tips N Toes to get a pedicure and brought my mom and my daughter with me. When we checked-in they asked us to fill out a standard COVID paperwork, checked our temperature and had us wait outside while they set-up our seats. They definitely practice social distancing and have barriers per station. However, one of the things I noticed is that they do not wipe down the stations for the next client (-1 star). The pedicure was definitely rushed and did not feel relaxing as they move you from one station to the other because another client will use the station you are in (-1 star). Lastly, we didn't feel that they provide a good experience. The lady helping my mom sounded dismissive (-1 star) 2 stars for trying to follow COVID precautions and for the decor. read more

I have never had someone do a pedicure the way Oanh did. I have very sensitive feet and she was the only one that ever made it pain free and did a great job. She gave a foot rub line a professional masseuse. She was 10/10. She told me wait 15 mins for it to dry. 8 mins in , the manager or owner was asking for my money and spraying my chair with chemicals telling me to leave. She ruined the whole experience. She was so rude that she kicked me out of the store with napkins in my toes still. She is a horrible person. I wish I got her name. She ruined the whole experience for me. New update: Changed my review from 3 to 4 , because someone really from their end messaged me immediately and responded to my concern. He was apologetic on behalf of the team and also explained the situation was due to cultural differences ( which I understand coming from another asian community) . They took necessary measurements to avoid any further situation like this... which I think speak a lot about how much they care about their customers and retaining them. Went here for the first time since i was in a crunch of time and couldn't go to my regular "go to"place. I took my 11 yr old son for a mother son pedi ( he has stumpy toes which needed professionally trimming to avoid any ingrowth). This was his first and he was super excited. They made us sit next to each other which was pretty thoughtful. The ladies were really sweet and throughout the process she made him comfortable and asked him to look away or talk to me if he felt ticklish. As for the package, it was the basic spa pedicure so I wasn't expecting bells and whistles but I somehow felt it was rushed. They just scrubbed the bottom of my feet ( with soap and a soft scrubber) without even picking up the foot scrubber to take off the dead skin. My son didn't have any so it makes sense for him but i for sure knew i had and one of the reasons i do pedicure is for a good foot scrub. I went back to the website to see if that service was in other expensive packages ( so i don't accuse them for anything that wasn't promised) but it was never mentioned in any of the packages. So my assumption is it should have been part of all the three packages ( honestly that's something that cant be skipped in a pedicure). Next, the lady who was working on my son asked him his age. He mentioned he is 11 to which she said she has a daughter of that same age. Then out of the blue she asked me my son's weight. We both were shocked, i was taken aback to an extent i didn't know what to reply while my son was smart enough to say " i dont know" and thus left the conversation there. But he told me he was hurt and it was very rude of her to ask that question. I told him to forgive and forget and consider it as her ignorance. I truly feel she had no intention of hurting its just her curiosity... and unaware of the etiquettes . I didn't want to bring it up there because I didn't want to embarrass her or put her or her job at risk. We are all trying our best to feed our families. Hence I wanted it to be anonymous. I started coming to this salon a few months ago in looking for something in the San Ramon area. Been here about 5 or 6 times now, and want to list out my thoughts starting off with the PROS before the CONS. Before going into the details, I want to state: I always give a business the benefit of the doubt and to try a few different people when going to a nail salon before officially writing a bad review. I really wanted to keep coming to this place, but the last 2 times going here, really left me with an unhappy feeling and I just cannot go back. PROS: * The owner Jenny: She is SO KIND, caring, really genuine I wish everyone here had her work ethic. Every time I have called, come to the salon, or talked to her, she has been so wonderful in every way. Happy, smiling, and treats her employees so nicely. This is rare and refreshing to see a manager treating her staff so well and with respect. * Prices: great prices for manicures and pedicures. * VERY clean. From the manicure seats, brushes, tools they use on your, and to the pedicure sets. * Someone picks up the phone when you call. * Open Sunday. Finding a nail salon open on a Sunday, is actually is hard to find. CONS: * Most of the people that work here seem very inexperienced. Nail art is the new normal now, or so you would think. Especially during the holidays, you want a little something to show some sparkle or stand out. The past 3 manicures, I have asked for a little French manicure, start, or some glitter. All of the people who did my manicures, really struggled for simple designs. Sitting there for over an hour and a half, for a manicure that should be 45 mins. * Mis-treating cleaning cuticles and buffing nails: The last 2 times I have gone here, everyone that buffs my nails have been so aggressive and buffing down my nails way too hard and my nails were thinner afterwards. I went today and had to tell the woman (Kim) she was being too hard, buffing my skin too hard, and pressing too hard. She told me "RELAX" and shook my hand. I had to tell her, she was being too rough and hurting my nails. She replied "oh, so go gentle??". It is shocking to have to tell someone they are going to rough, as I would think they could sense they are buffing aggressively. * With nail-art being a common request at nail shops, the last 3 people I have asked to do simple French manicure or details on my nails struggled big time. Showing a picture, asking if this is do-able, yes or no. I would be fine with that vs working on my nails for over an hour and completely changing what was presented. I had to come back to get it removed and redone. Jenny (manager) was very kind and accommodating. Not trying to repeat the first bullet point, but I wanted to illustrate: nail art is COMMON. If someone cant do it, please advise and pass along to someone in the shop that can. I have had many experiences before, where a nail technician couldnt do design, I waited a few minutes for someone else , done, Happy. * My nails ALWAYS have nail polish all over my cuticles and fingertips when I leave. I would think as part of a basic manicure, cleaning nail polish that may have got on your cuticles or fingers, would have been removed easily? There have been a few times where I walk out and look at my nails in the car, and find nail polish on my cuticles and had to clean them getting home. * Lastly, rude comments: today was the last straw with this location and I will NOT come back. Nina, the woman who did my nails was making sarcastic comments to me. A few of her comments today with a very sarcastic tone: "Are you happy today?", "You are very lucky you came in early, cause if it was busy, I could not have done your nails. Just know you are so lucky." I commented back to her, "I had an appointment and what if it happened to be busy with an appointment (like my usual)?" Her response: "I would NOT have been able to do anything on your nails and couldn't do it." I was appalled how confident and rude she was. I asked the manager Jenny after my appointment asking and passing along the comments I received from Nina. The manager said shocked "We most definitely would have accommodating any nail art". The manager has always been so kind and sincere every time I have come here, but the over-all picture: the staff kills my experience treating myself for a nice mani and/or pedi. First time was during the week when the place wasn't crowded and I was told they were too busy and they didn't offer to make an appointment and today, again, as a "walk in" they asked me what I needed when I asked to have one nail fixed I was told they were to busy and that they had customers waiting as she pointed to a woman who walked in moments after me. This place used to be really good. It's been a while since I've been and I went in to get a mani/pedi today to treat myself. The lady who did my pedicure did a decent job, but the lady who did my mani was absolutely awful. The only reason I gave one star is because it was the lowest rating I could give. She spent less than 10 minutes with me and I swear she was the most unhappy human I've ever met. I felt like she was taking her anger out on my poor fingers. I normally have long nails and I always keep the shape somewhat square. She completely chopped my nails off and rounded them all out. Not only that, but she was extremely aggressive with the cuticle clippers - this is where I felt like she was taking her anger and aggression out. My fingers barely soaked and she didn't even put any cuticle oil on them. She just went straight to town the the clippers. Not only did she do an awful job, but she ripped the skin off my middle finger. She didn't say a word to me the entire time and didn't even apologize for making me bleed. Then, somewhere within those 10 minutes, my thumb got a little messed up (probably from her aggressiveness of throwing my hands and fingers around) and she didn't even attempt to fix it. I've had many many many mani/pedis in my lifetime and this was by far the worst. She was so fast and aggressive that I couldn't even enjoy it. She also happened to be one of the few people working there with no name tag, so I couldn't catch her name. When she was done, she literally walked off and completely peaced out. Let's put it this way, it was so bad I didn't even leave her a tip (which, I've never done before). After today, I will never come back here again. If you want to actually relax and enjoy your mani/pedi's (and not have your skin ripped off your fingers), I highly recommend you go somewhere else. Tips N Toes is my go to nail salon. It's clean, spacious and they consistently do a great job. They have 9 comfy massage/foot soak chairs, so it's pretty easy to get the appointment time you want. I always call ahead a couple of days as they seem to be fully booked on the weekends. I also like that they give you a little discount if you pay cash. The price for a regular pedicure is so reasonable. Don't forget to bring cash for the tip even if you are paying with card because they only take cash tips. I have had pedicures with 4 or 5 different nail techs here, but my favorite is Lily! She is so sweet and gives the most thorough pedicure. The color selection is pretty good, but every once in a while I want my own color and they are happy to accommodate. They offer both regular and gel pedicures and manicures, so no matter what you want they've got you covered. I've come to this salon about 3 times and my most recent time was by far the best. Typically the place is packed on the weekends so I would definitely recommend making an appointment. I had time on Wednesday morning so I decided to stop by around 10am and they took me in right away. Lyna did my nails and she did a really good job. She was a little slow but meticulous which I actually appreciated. I paid $38 for a fill with shellac polish which is a decent price and I really love the look of my nails.
