I came here two weeks ago for dinner with my son-in-law. It was my first experience eating in a gas station mini mart but I understand it's relatively common in GA.. The quality and quantity of the food was impressive. We decided to each order a platter so we could mix and match meat and sides. He chose ribs and pulled pork with greens and potato salad I chose chicken and ribs with fries and green beans. The chicken was beyond amazing (he took a half chicken home), the ribs were tasty and meaty and the sides were delicious. We tasted the assorted BBQ sauces at the table and agreed the hot is best for us. I ended up taking some of my chicken breast and ribs home and we both took cobbler home. My sister was here in Atlanta for a week and craved BBQ ribs. We found high ratings about Tipsy Pig BBQ. Plus it was north of Atlanta and not too far. Two smiling gentlemen welcomed us when we arrived. They served us very well even stepping from behind the counter to help explain the menu choices. The pulled pork and ribs were cooked perfectly. Have to be honest, I didn't go here for the first year they were in business because they're, well, in a gas station. Finally, after hearing the third or fourth person tell me they had the best BBQ around, I went in and gave them a shot. It is first rate BBQ and I felt pretty silly for not giving them a shot before. Just the right amount of smoke in the meat so you can go with or without sauce. They have a hot and a Carolina - I like to mix both. Best BBQ I've had in Gwinnett. If it was close to other great BBQ spots, I'd probably rate it a 3. Ribs were delicious. Greens were too salty. Potato salad...it was too much of something, not sure what but I wasn't a fan. Baked beans were delicious! They were out of mac n cheese so I'll be back for that. I would pass on the cobbler next time, it was average. I loved they cinnamon in it but the mixture of dough to peaches just wasn't right for me. Will definitely go back but next time will get it to go. The gas station employee (not BBQ employee) bleaching everything in sight kinda ruined the meal. They arrive sauceless, so you can add North Carolina inspired BBQ sauce (hot or mild) to the tender, flab-free heaps of Porky Goodness as you go. I enjoyed my first Brunswick Stew, which is super flavorful and fresh at the Tipsy Pig; a medley of pork and fresh vegetables. The Mac and Cheese is dense, tender and al-dente at the same time - excellent. Not velveeta style, more like cheddar with a crusty top. The Tipsy Pig is a Gem of an Eatery. Worth a field trip. Wow, what has happen here. I came in here yesterday with some friends and was greeted with bad attitude, food, and service. I have been a customer since the day they open, and today is the last day I would ever be a customer. After ordering and paying, we was waiting for our drinks over 15 minutes. When I asked about the drinks, if we could get it now the lady said "I'm making your sandwiches first" with a bad attitude and her head shaking like she has a neck cramp. We got our food 25-30 min later with nobody there beside someone else that already gotten there food. I don't know how someone that comes in after you gets there food first when we ordered the same thing. Maybe she decided to wait till all the food was ready but when we finally got it, it was cold. My 1/2chicken and wings wasn't even warm, cold like it's been sitting out since the workers were having a bad day. Nobody checked on us, but it's fine we won't ever be back. We will make room for anyone to get treated like poop. read more

Tried this the other day because the other BBQ places near lawrenceville haven't met my expectations. The pork is pulled which isn't my favorite but the quality was good. My wife liked the pulled style and their sauce which is a little sweet. We got carry out so I chopped my portion. The stew was the BEST I've had around this area (hometown, spiced right, uncle bettys). Lots of chunky components and perfect smoky flavor. The only side I tried was collards and they were good - I prefer them cooked a little longer but they were still good. I'd definitely recommend them, service and quality was GREAT. Love this place, this little joint is down the street from my house hidden in a shell gas station, you wouldn't believe they had amazing BBQ until you've tried it and that's just what I did. Got their pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw and their BBQ ribs and was pleasantly suprised, never thought gas station BBQ would be this good! It's in a gas station, so don't go here for a first date. The mac & cheese was really good and somehow different than any other mac & cheese I've ever had. Greens were a bit bland, but hot sauce fixes that. Large serving of BBQ pork was tasty, as were the sauces. The only negative is that it is in a gas station. The Cuban Sandwich was amazing and honestly better than I have had at Cuban restaurants. The Cole slaw was fresh and tasty. Once inside the building you don't feel like you are in a gas station but rather a BBQ cafe. I had the pulled pork sandwich with 1/3 lb meat, all meat and no fat at all. My husband had the red neck cuban which is like a traditional cuban with pulled pork. It was very good. The brunswick stew was great with just a little kick. The french fries were nice and crisp. Googled Gwinnett County BBQ... Found this place and saw some good reviews. Went out of my way to try it and man am I glad I did! Very traditional, simple, down to earth, smack your mama good BBQ! The meat is slow smoked and disintegrates in your mouth. Fork optional. I tried the Memphis pulled pork sandwich. The slaw isn't sweet the way I like, but it was still amazing. The pork by itself was also amazing. The owners let us try 1 rib each. We came back twice in a week for full racks! I highly recommend this place. Don't let the location fool you. Stopped by on our way home (not from this area). Staff was very friendly. Ample seating, even though it is tucked into one side of a gas station. Portion sizes were good. Best BBQ I've ever bought at a Shell station! Classic pulled pork and brisket here cooked low and slow. Considering the location and amenities it is a tad on the pricy side. We took ours to go so it worked out just fine. The only thing I would change is that crazy pay the gas station attendant at the counter, come back with a slip, dance. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. I stopped by last week and I'm not sure if I'll be back. The restaurant is located inside of the gas station, which I didn't realize. There's a small seating area but it seems awkward to me. The staff was great. Everyone was very friendly and it didn't take long to get my food. I ordered the 2 meat plate with ribs and pork. My sides were collards and Mac-and-cheese. The ribs and Mac-and-cheese were great. The pork lacked flavor to me and just appeared to be smoked. I wish the collards had been cooked down more. The stems were very crunchy. All in all, The food was good enough to satisfy my craving for bar-b-que but I will probably try some other places before I return. read more

Nice to find a good BBQ place near my house. I will travel for good Q, but now I do not have to go nearly as far. So far, I have sampled the ribs, pork, and chicken. The ribs were not the best in town, but they were not bad. I will give the ribs another chance at some point. The pork was great and has been every time I have been there. It was tender, smokey, and very flavorful, as good as you will find anywhere in Atlanta. The chicken was probably the best I have ever found at a BBQ joint. It was perfectly smoked and not dried out. The hot sauce is quite good too. As for sides, the brunswick stew is good and the collards are great. This is a solid player on the Atlanta BBQ scene. Based on my one experience, I would not put their ribs in the same class as those from Fox Bros, The Swallow, BBQ1, Cue, Community, Bone Lick, or Heirloom, but they were close and some pigs are greater than others -- so I will give the ribs another chance at a later date. The Tipsy Pig is my go-to BBQ joint. Yes it is in a gas station, but that is cool by me. When they fire up the smoker out by the street and fill the area with smoke I dare you to keep driving by. The pulled pork is great. I have had the Carolina style sandwhich a few times now. They have a vinegar based sauce and topped with slaw. The Brunswick stew is the best i have had since moving to the metro Atlanta area. They have a really good set-up with the gas station they are located in. Why can't good food places keep up what they are known for? Inside was very hot. Air conditioning unable to cool enough to eat in. Staff seemed to be clueless with taking orders and asking again if I made an order. Wrote down my order when I came in but kept asking what I ordered. My husband and i had the ribs and chicken plate. For sides i had mac n cheese, and collards,and hubby had collards and baked beans. The ribs were excellent and tender. The chicken was okay. The collards were dry and not well seasoned. The mac n cheese needed seasoning too.the baked beans were prety good. I also tried the peach cobbler but i didn't like it at all.
