All I needed was an oil change. Called and told me I needed to replace the battery, need new brakes and new spark plugs. I said no thanks for now. Then a half hour later call and say the last place that changed my oil stripped the gasket and whole oil plan needed replaced ($800). Google that scam. A very dishonest assistant manager. read more

Truly the worst consumer experience I have ever had. I had a screw in my tire and a tight deadline to get it fixed, so rather than fix it myself I brought it here to have it fixed. They claimed that my tread depth was too shallow to repair. While this was not true, I wasn't in a place to argue due to my time constraint so I went ahead and let them fleece me for two new tires for $500 (much more expensive than that should be). At this point, I wasn't even upset as they were able to complete this very quickly. The real problem is that several months later, my car started experiencing a number of other issues. When I brought it in to the dealership to repair, they told me that my two new front tires were different sizes, which had led to around $6000 in damages to my vehicle. After contacting them about the issue, they have just given me the run-around and will not take any responsibility for their mistakes. I would recommend avoiding this shop. read more

Disclaimer: Both myself and my girlfriend have been to this location to get work done. They will over charge you by A LOT. Make sure to get second opinions and when you do present it to them and they will try to beat the price. The reason for the 1 star is because they start with a super high price to get anything done and if you don't know any better (or don't care) you will pay it. They will also try to sell you things you don't need done. I had a brand new air filter installed in my car a week before going to this location for an oil change. They said the tire had a hole in the side wall, couldn't be repaired and I'd need to replace it and the cost out the door was $578.76. The tire was a Firestone so I called the nearest Firestone store, they charged me $232.34 for the same tire, out the door. Over 100% more! I'll never return to Tire Choice. read more

As my tire pressure light had come on while I was in the area, I headed right over, parked at their air pump and waited...and waited...and waited some more. Despite being seen by & making eye contact with numerous staff, no one ever felt compelled to head over to provide service to me. My first trip to this location was by chance - I stopped in at Huffman's after work and when I got back in my car, my starter went out. Being being located in the same parking lot, it was pretty convenient to just push across the parking lot 100 yards or so. The fixed the starter, $250ish range. Fast forward a few months later.....I was due for my next oil change. I decided to take it to this location based on what I witnessed during my previous visit - the (older) gentleman working the front counter seemed friendly, honest, courteous, super nice, etc. I thought this could potentially be my "go-to" place. I couldn't have been more wrong. I waited in the lobby during the oil change, which, with an appointment scheduled ahead of time, ended up taking just over 2 hours (not what I'm upset about). About an hour in, the guy at the front counter called me up, went over what the mechanics were "looking at", and proceeded to give me a $2,600 quote of their "recommendations." I asked if this was stuff that could wait, or what needed attention sooner, etc...They basically said I needed all of this done ASAP. The list of repairs included: new rack and pinion, replace tire rods, power steering hose, and new brake pads and rotors. (I may be leaving off a couple things). After the "front desk guy" explained all of this to me, I said, "ok, thanks for the heads up, but I'll just stick with the oil change for today." And went back and sat down. About 25 mins later, the "mechanic" came in to talk to me. We sat down and he went over and explained the EXACT SAME THING. I said, thanks. Just the oil change is good for now. I left all flustered, and almost certain they were just blowing smoke up my ass. I went and had THREE OTHER PLACES look at my car. Not a single one recommended anything that this Monro had included in this $2,600 estimate. The ONLY thing that they came close to agreeing with was the back brake pads. And that was only after I revealed this bogus estimate. They said, "oh, there's a little bit of wear but you're good for a few months." It's been over 6 months since this absurd, fraudulent estimate was given to me at this Monro. I haven't done any of the repairs they suggested -- all of which was "immediate." In fact, I just had another oil change and they said everything was good -- which reminded me to write this review. I am a positive person and usually don't go out of my way to write something negative, but things like this really irk me. I've always been weary of places like these and this only reconfirms my hesitation. It's unfortunate that this still happens. I have since found a reputable shop who I will use for EVERYTHING. Your attempt at swindling a few bucks lost you a customer who was looking for a "go-to" place. This place is a joke. They tinker and screw over your vehicles so you can keep coming back to them. For example you go in for an innocuous oil change and magically all of a sudden you get quotes of $4,099 in repairs for "things that need to be fixed." Now lets say they spook you into getting the repairs after they assured you this that or the other are under "lifetime" warranties. In a few weeks after their substandard parts and shotty unprofessional workmanship goes south and you're right back in there with your receipts they will argue with you and give you hell and high water about what they do and don't cover plus additional charges for labor when just a few weeks ago earlier they give you a big Kool Aid smile and wink about their "lifetime" warranty. Furthermore what good is a warranty from this place anyway if corporately they're going out of business which isn't a surprise! Nope. Nope. Nope. I actually became a Yelp member just to write this review as a warning. Have been going here for a while on auto pilot-- primarily oil changes but also to get my car fixed since it's close to the house. So I went in today to get an oil change on my car. During the oil change they found that the water pump was leaking (true), and with some air filter changes it would come to $690. Ouch! I lamented the cost but agreed. Panicking a bit about the finances I called the mechanics on the corner of Fishinger and Mountview. I explained the situation in full to them and they quoted me at.... $350! Wait--what?! What about the pump, air filters, labor costs, etc?? Yep, $350. Half the price. I called and cancelled with Monro immediately, though all of a sudden the price was more flexible (or perhaps get a Monro credit card and pay over the course of six months). When I bull-headed my way into backing out they said they'd still have to charge for the flush that was already underway (in the matter of MINUTES that was between phone calls). Fine, you can have your $120 oil change (with flush) and I will gladly never come back. For whatever reason I trusted these guys in the past thinking they were down to earth, all the while they must have had me pegged as an another Arlington sucker. Done with 'em. read more

All they want to is replace items that don't need replaced. They told me the front axles needed replaced, that the boots were torn and it was leaking grease! Also said it needed brakes all the way around. The quote on the axles were crazy. $300 each. I found them online for $125 each. I took the car to Grismer for a second opinion. Axles are fine, boots NOT torn. Only front brakes needed replaced. STAY AWAY from Monroe in UA. Another time they swore the engine mount was bad. Again, second opinion at Grismer found that mount was fine and it was working as designed.... read more

I made an appointment for an oil change and when I went in I was grossly misquoted for brake pads. A few hours later, I drove off the lot and there was a horrible screeching sound. They apologized profusely for the "hardware issue" and asked me to come back to make sure the lug nuts were tightened! What? Run. Run away and never return. read more

Needed a battery replaced on Sunday. Stopped in without an appointment and left car for 2 hours. Battery, labor and tax less than $200, and less than I expected. Labor charge only about $40, and battery was buried behind air box and one terminal stuffed close to firewall. Nicely surprised. read more

These guys helped us out big time last Saturday when our car suddenly wouldn't start - walked across the parking lot with my wife back to our car, jumped the battery, then tested it and ultimately replaced it, for a reasonable price, within half an hour. I can't say enough about this shop. They always do quality work for me, and never suggest anything that doesn't need done. There's been a couple times I thought something needed to be replaced, and they assured me that it did not. They always point it out, so I can see exactly what they are talking about. The main reason I've been back to this location is because I can walk to and from and drop off for an oil change. However, I think the only experience where I was NOT advised that there was something else needed was when I specifically told them upfront "my husband just wants the oil changed". This most recent oil change/inspection was my last. I was advised the cabin filter and main air filter needed changed and I agreed to it (seemed simple enough). As I drove the car away from TC, there was a weird noise that definitely didn't exist before the oil change. When I got home, I asked my husband to drive it and he also heard it. So I took it back, told them about it and walked home. I got a phone call and was advised the noise was because the "emergency break was engaged". I'm a 40 something female and honestly don't know much about cars, but am certain I know when my emergency break is engaged. And yes, I do engage the break when I park on an incline. And if you try to drive with it engaged an alarm notifies you. It was not the emergency break. The next day, my husband drives the car and records the noise on his phone and takes it back to TC and plays it for them. They hear it and agree to inspect it again. They call me and said the noise was not heard before the bc they did a tire rotation (with the oil change) and the struts and shocks are worn and are rubbing the tires differently now. They also tell me that I now need to replace struts, shocks and all 4 tires for $2400. I tell them I have a warranty on the tires, which were purchased from them in 2018. They report that "the strut issue voids the warranty". I tell them I need to discuss with my husband and retrieve my vehicle. The next day, I go to start it, it sputters and doesn't sound like it's going to start but does. I'm still parked wondering what is going on and the dashboard now has 2 service lights, one is the crank shaft position sensor and one is the traction control light (yes, I looked it up). I'm now not comfortable driving it and am calling the dealership. It's a 2012 Honda Odyssey with 75K miles. The one positive is the guy working at the front was very kind and professional during our multiple interactions. But unfortunately the neighborhood place that was once very convenient has become a major inconvenience. read more

This place is the most unfriendly and deceitful place I ever visited. When him to have my oil change entire for obtaining at 10:00 a.m. at 3:00 p.m. I went to pick it up and the tires weren't rotated. I asked him when they closed and she said 7 so I said I would be back to pick it up later. When I went back to pick it up the tires still were not rotated. I told her so and she lied to me and said that they were rotated. I had left the front rooms dirty so I can tell if they would be rotated. She outright lied to me. Beware... Asked me to replace brake odd and rotors.. Told me to do it ASAP or it would be an issue..When I took it to another shop to double check they told me only brake pads needed replacement and not the rotors!! In my old car they asked me to replace struts! They are good only for oil change. I agree with other reviewers! If they suggest any repair make sure you get a second opinion from another shop before doing it. read more

Came here to get my flex pipe replaced on my muffler and they quoted me $560. Thinking it was too much I took it to Mad Hatter Muffler on the west side and they replaced it for $95. They did an amazing job and got it done very fast. I'd recommend checking them out to anyone, I'll never go to any Monro again. read more

I dropped off my Dodge pickup yesterday to get the tires balanced. Just moved to the neighborhood. Pretty simple deal. When I got there this morning to pick up my truck, I found that the spare was on my front left wheel hub. The guy behind the counter said "sorry bud, you need a new tire". I asked to see the damaged tire to confirm the location of the puncture. As we are looking at the tire he says "yep, there it is. It's in the sidewall". I'm like "wtf, that isn't in the sidewall! What the hell is wrong with this guy?" I took one look at the screw that was lodged in my tire and knew he was pulling my leg since it was a good inch and a half from the sidewall. I immediately drove to the Firestone on Reed and Henderson. 30 minutes later, my tire was patched and balanced. $21.49 and I'm on my way. Shady and/or incompetent. read more

Horrible. Told me my tire could not be repaired but I went to a different shop, taking tire and wheel with me. The other shop plugged the road hazard hole and got me on the road in 20 minutes for $30 instead of $195 new tire cost. Monro clearly just trying to sell me a tire, not helpful. read more

I found the same problem as the other reviews. They gave me a $2000 estimate for struts, brakes, defogging headlights and flushing antifreeze lines. They said the struts are recommended to be changed at a certain mileage- they're not- and hey said one brake line was leaking- it wasn't. Luckily we have a family friend that is a Subaru dealer in Cincinnati and I took it there for a 2nd opinion and nothing was wrong at all. I don't have a problem with a mechanic recommending maintenance that may not be necessary but may help, but straight up lying about things like leaking brake lines is completely unethical. I do not appreciate that they seemed to assume that they can take advantage of any woman who walks in their store. My female friends have had similar experiences here, I would like nothing more than to see them go out of business. Do not take your car here. read more

I'm aware of this shop's reputation so I normally wouldn't go near it, but the other day I had a flat in my driveway and as I only live a few blocks away I thought, what could go wrong with a simple flat tire? So I dumped a can fix a flat in the tire and drove over, the tire audibly hissing from the nail stuck in it. I told them to plug it, and the manager himself weny out to work on it. A few minutes go by and the hired help comes in the waiting room and nervously tells me "he says it can't be fixed". The game was on. "Why" I asked. A couple more minutes and he comes back. "The hole's in the sidewall and can't be plugged." "Nonsense," I said. "It's in the middle of the tread, hissing away." He goes back out, comes back. "He says you drove it on the rim and now it's destroyed." "Not true," I volleyed back, "i put fixaflat in it and I live 3 blocks away." He goes out one more time. "He says the tread is too thin, we're not allowed to plug it. But we can put a new one on." At this point the situation was losing its humor, so I had them give it a shot of air and I took the car elsewhere. To their credit, they didn't try to charge me for the air. A couple minutes later I was at the Marathon station on Riverside, where I got my plug for 7 bucks. The tire has been fine ever since. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. THEY ARE SCAMMERS JUST TRYING TO GET YOU TO PAY FOR SERVICES YOU DON'T NEED. THEY HAPPILY LIE ABOUT WHAT NEEDS DONE. The manager of this place is a complete scammer. I even spoke to a family friend of the manager's who told us that the manager regularly brags about getting people to pay for services they don't need. He's completely dishonest. We took our cars there because we were local. He told us we needed new brakes on our jeep because someone had clearly taken the car off-roading. He only said this because our 20 year old son dropped the car off. The car never went off-roading. We took it somewhere else and they fixed the brake pads and expressed there was no major issue. Another friend of ours took their Volvo station wagon there, when the manager quoted the price at $3000, my friend said no. So the manager said that they could really do it for $2000 because one of the parts (starter) didn't really need to be replaced. When she asked why then did he say the started needed replaced in the first place, the manager got angry. My friend just said she wanted the car, and when she showed up, the parts had been put back in the car but not fastened. The manager refused to actually put the car back as it was. And the car wouldn't start at all whereas before it started. The car was old so my friend ended up just selling it on Craig's list. She felt it was easier than dealing with the manager who was rude, angry, dishonest and condescending. They think because they are located in Upper Arlington that everyone is rich so should pay for unnecessary services. The manger is paid on commission. read more

I guess I should have read the other reviews before I went here. I was in a rush about to go on an out of town trip and my car was making strange noises, and I was definitely taken advantage of. I have taken the statement of work they did on brakes and replacing tie rods to two other locations after I was told by several people I was overcharged. Both other shops came in between $150-$400 lower. They would not accept my first try at their 'best price guarantee' because it was a smaller shop (even though they didn't tell me that originally and it says that NOWHERE on the website). I will be trying again with the second estimate. Even more infuriating is that I was told by both of the other shops that they would be shocked if I really needed the one caliper replaced which was $300. On top of all of this, I had to take my car BACK in after it was originally 'fixed' as it was making the same exact noises and they said it was just a matter of adjusting a panel that was rubbing... which really makes me wonder if ANY of the work they did was necessary.
