tldr; Midas wanted to charge more than double for a repair, lied and tried to sell financing to do it. I'm from Morgantown, WV. My alternator began having trouble just before this exit Friday night. I got a room for the night at the Quality Inn and popped over to Midas the next morning, Veterans Day, so I thought it was my only option. They quoted $983.03 for the alternator and serpentine belt, claimed it was about to catch on fire, and insisted that I couldn't drive it more than three miles safely and would need to purchase their financing to pay for this. They said the parts would be $619.98, which I knew wasn't true so before opting for a tow, I drove to the Napa down the street. Napa sold me a new alternator and belt for $390.53 and said they trusted another shop in town that was open, behind the Walmart. That shop, Tire Source, charged $109.46 rather than the $247 quoted by Midas. We took the alternator core back to Napa for a $77 refund and a box of donuts as a thank you. Midas quoted $983.03 but the repair total ended up being $422.99. As a side note, it took me five minutes to eyeball the situation at 10pm on the side of your interstate but around five dudes and an hour to play around with it at Midas. I'm accustomed to my mechanic behaving like he knows what he's doing and not making wild claims, but maybe I'm picky. Attached are four photos. I was treated courtesely, the service was excellent. The store Manager, Robert, made sure all inspections and service were done properly.

This morning I noticed what I thought was an exhaust noise in my car and drove it over to Midas in Streetsboro. On a Saturday I was expecting it to be rushed, but I was immediately helped and my car was brought inside the shop within minutes. No more than 10 mins later, I was brought to the shop floor to see the cause of noise & fix that was already completed. In and out in 15 mins or less, no more exhaust noise! Manager was terrible, not friendly at all. When asked if he could locate less expensive part, he said no. Only one other car in the shop. I guess they didn't want business! I was a longtime customer and went through many managers, he is the worst. I will not be going back! TV was so loud, gave me a headache. Store was cold. Coffee was 3/4 full but not on, must have been old. Bathrooms were dirty. read more

Bad service period. Was there Weds. 1/9/19. Charged me for parts not needed or installed. Big line of bs to repair a simple exhaust leak. Repeatedly insulted my intelligence. Overcharged for everything and then didn't fill out paperwork correctly. No parts numbers on paperwork. The crew is a bunch of crooks. STAY AWAY.!! read more

I went in to get a tire plugged. Bought 2 tires for Rear. Plugged tire was for front passenger. Took over 3 hours total. Brought in with FIVE LUG NUTS ON BACK REAR PASSENGER TIRE-LEFT WITH FOUR LUG NUTS ON PASSENGER REAR TIRE!! Someone SCREWED Up! Manager John Mann actually tried to say that damage was done PRIOR to my bringing it there and that tire valve was stripped...tried to charge over $150.00 for repair. I declined and was extremely upset as I had NOT THE $ for such a thing! Besides, it wasn't LIKE THAT BEFORE!\ Was charged over $350.00 and ther damage is still un-repaired. wWas also over-charged for front end alignment as Manager verbally quotd $69.00 and then charged $89.00 Called Suppervisor on Receipt several days ago, STILL HAVE HAD NO RECTIFYING OF THE SITUATION TO DATE! Waited 2 hours today for A "free" checkup that the guy wanted to charge me for, I wanted the write up as I am not someone who understands car talk, to use to be able to explain to someone who would understand what was wrong. However, the guy wanted to charge me for that as well. 80 bucks for something I got for free before? I get that you have to add in costs for labor, but the amount that they try to up sell you? After placing several calls to other places, decided to stop in to get a price and get a feel for the place that would be taking care of my car. Matt was super patient with me. He didn't make me feel like I would be paying for more than I needed or feel like my questions/concerns were silly. Tires were ordered and even replaced my wiper blades that normally could only be change by the dealer. Really helped us out in a jam. Girlfriend and I were headed to Michigan on a 9 hour road trip. Broke down on the Ohio turnpike on a Saturday around 4pm. Got towed to midas because everyone else was closed. The crew was really nice and helped us out. Took them 20 minutes, figured out our caliper was loose, tightened it back up and sent us on our way free of charge. Said they knew what it was like being broke down in another state. My very first visit to this shop was to have my AC recharged before a Memorial weekend trip. The manager told me about the diagnostic service they performed prior to recharging the AC, and also that they did a 54 point inspection of all vehicles as a courtesy to their customers., and my van would be done by end of day. Well, a few hours later he called to advise me the AC was repaired, recharged,and working good, but that the expansion valve should be replaced. With the age of my vehicle, and 160,000 miles on it, we authorized this service. From there everything went completely down hill !!!! It took four days to do this repair !!! Within six weeks I had spent $ 1400.00 dollars on a 2001 Chrysler TC van. Every repair they completed for me ended up in mny taking my vehicle back in because of problems. The air conditioner completely broke down the week we had to deal with 95 to 98 degree temps..They couldn't find anything wrong with it , so they put in stop leak, and it has worked ever since..BUT, I have to wonder, "Did I really need that $388.00 AC repair"?????? Oh, and prior to the second Ac breakdown, my van had overheated, will "bells" going off everywhere, engine lights coming on etc. I took my van back to Midas, and after their inspection, I was told that I had to have a new radiator put in, well,,,exactly three weeks after new radiator installation, and exactly two days after the second AC break down, my van overheated again during a severe thunderstorm with lightening, and I had to pull over and wait until it cooled down and all the bells and lights went off, and then I drove it to the closest repair place, and they put in six (6) containers of water, and asked that I still wait a bit so they could double check the water level before I left. This was at Pep Boys in Niles, and they did not even charge me for their time, and they would not even accept a gratuity from me., and then I drove the 50 miles back to Streetsboro to get my granddaughter back home....I now have a meeting scheduled with a District Supervisor at another Midas repair shop to try to determine why all the water leaked out of my brand new radiator!!!! The following situations led to my decision to not ever return to Midas of Streetsboro again: Of the Phone calls that I made to that store asking for the manager, I was told he was not in... At my first visit I was given the managers card, and was told I would receive a 10% discount off any repairs that they did for me. Well, that did not happen on any of the billings I paid them for. And when I went to write of my frustrating experience with this shop, I found they had online coupons for 15% off of AC repairs !! He must not have known that his Corporate offices were offering 15% off to his 10%. offer !!! I haven't even touched base here about serpentine belt that was inspected and rated in good condition that blew shortly after the radiator was installed, and the smell and all the smoke blowing out from under my hood, and that caused me to have to this have my van towed on my way home from the Cleveland area.......... No, I will not return to to this Midas store in Streetsboro, but I am anxious to find ot what the District Supervisor is going to do...... I do not recommend The Midas Auto Service Experts of Streetsboro, Ohio and especially if you are from out of town.!!!!!!!!!!! read more

This Midas exemplifies everything that is wrong with doing business with large corporations of this type. I cannot prove they damaged my oil pan plug but the mechanic who changed the oil after Midas claimed it was damaged coming in... And couldn't remove the plug. My mechanic changed it in Sept, Midas in Nov, and then the pan was damaged when I went back to my mechanic in Jan. Anyways, I can understand it being a total he said she said but what chaps my ass is when I'm promised return phone calls and follow-up that never happens. After I dropped the old damaged pan off at Midas' request.... Nobody bothered to call after a week, so I called them. Then I was promised a phone call after "someone of higher pay grade" was consulted... 3 months later, no call. So, I called and got what I expected...denial and excuses. I wonder if the guy even bothered to take the issue up the chain of command as promised? Would have been nice if he would have followed thru on this promise. But, this is what we come to expect from companies like Midas. read more
