Needless to say, I was in a state of considerable distress. On my sister's recommendation, I dropped my car off at DeSalvo around 2:15pm today. Murphey (another Interstellar [2014] parallel!) at the front desk was very helpful and calmed my panicked nerves. A technician called me around 3:45pm to diagnose the problem, let me know what it would cost to fix it (I'm no expert, but based on a quick Google investigation, it seemed very fair), and I picked my car up at 5:20pm. After the service, it was discovered that the first spark plug hole on the engine had been cross-threaded, causing damage during installation. In addition, the valve cover was broken during the repair process.DeSalvo replaced the valve cover gasket; however, the gasket continued to leak oil after the repair. Concerned about the issues, I had the vehicle inspected by a Mazda dealership. The dealership verified the cross-threaded spark plug, confirmed the damage to the valve cover, and documented that the gasket replacement was still leaking.I returned to DeSalvo Tire Outlet seeking warranty repairs based on these findings. I was specifically told that the damaged valve cover would be replaced. Instead of replacing the broken component as promised, I later discovered that the valve cover had been glued rather than replaced. This was not an acceptable or professional repair and did not address the underlying problem.As a customer, I expected competent workmanship, honesty, and accountability. Unfortunately, my experience reflected poor repair quality and a lack of transparency in resolving the issues that occurred during service. Because of these concerns, I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and am pursuing appropriate steps to have the repairs properly corrected.I encourage anyone considering service at DeSalvo Tire Outlet to obtain independent verification of any major repair work and carefully inspect the quality of completed repairs before leaving the shop. But , I returned to mavis and they immediately replaced the brake pad and rotor, standing by their warranties. After new struts, my convertible top would not work, but I found the electric line where the joining plug had separated and we just had to plug that back together. I think it separated as they had to move things to get to the struts and did not realize it. But it was an easy fix when we looked around . This shop has been my go-to place for all sorts of issues , and I have often called them my heros, because they have been so good to me. Mavis has all sorts of crazy warranties on stuff too, and you can go to any Mavis anywhere, if you need to check a warrantied part. I did that to check my new battery In another state and they were equally helpful. ( and my battery was fine) . Not many places can get you in and out on the same day you show up, but they sure try .
