I totally agree with a number of the reviews that suggest that Dan can be a little gruff on the phone. He's straight to the point, and not much chit chat on the phone. But in my experience, having had Dan out to my property 3 or 4 times over the years, he's a "promise made, promise kept" guy. Most recently I saw my water tank fill capacity steadily drop, starting of course on December 23. By December 28 I had dropped down to a level of 50%. Having a 10,000 gallon tank and with just two people on it, and knowing that if we went into full water conservation mode, I was confident I had at least ten days time to get things figured out. Dan came shortly after the holiday and had the issue diagnosed and repaired, inside of an hour. In addition, he replaced a float that was in bad condition, and he modified the float level that gave me about 5% more capacity in my tank. In person I just love Dan. Though I know I won't be billed for our hour plus time chit chatting about life, I have really bonded with Dan and though I hope I don't have to see him at my home for professional work, I'd welcome him into my home as a friend. Communication was excellent throughout the entire project. Even when I'd think of something over the weekend and send Garrett a text, he would respond. That level of customer service meant a lot to me. Their pricing was very fair for everything they accomplished. It took MONTHS fighting insurance on what felt like defeat.... Until Thomas came in! Our original offer from insurance was LESS THAN 55k. After Thomas's knowledge on insurance companies and legal assistance, we received over 120k. Every cent was used to rebuild our home! We were told we wouldn't get the same quality replacement on 90% of the things (like our cabinets) from other contractors; saying it was "impossible" to get insurance to cover both uppers and lower cabinets, x, y and z and we should just take what was given. WRONG! Obviously, his knowledge on insurance was a main reason why a close friend recommended him and we ultimately used Thomas but he also has other great aspects to his company. If there was a problem , I got a call and/or text asap. If I had a problem, he was a call or text away. ANY TIME an inspector was here or a sub contractor, he was here, too. Even when it came time to do extra things out of pocket we were met with reasonable quotes and ultimately did get to do extra things. He was very transparent on pricing and helped me understand when things were above what insurance would pay. Like others stated, Justin and his partner Brandon are really nice guys - Justin handles the business side and Brandon was essentially the project manager. There were a few design changes during this process. The most prominent change being the material we had to use to obtain the necessary permit from City of Poway. We downgraded from a premium modern block to a split-face CMU block and ultimately cost us an additional $14K. I realized later I had similar quotes for the CMU block retaining wall for $13K less than I was charged for this aspect of the project. In regards to the lack of attention to detail, I had two issues. (1) When we pivoted to the split face CMU block, Brandon told me to send him the color I wanted. I sent him the specific details to a light gray CMU block that matched the more modern aesthetic of our backyard. What was ultimately ordered and installed was a natural gray (tan). (2) It's expected the split face CMU has inconsistencies, however the crew that installed it used a block that had a giant divot and placed another that had a giant bulge, even though there was a decent amount of material leftover. I chose Pacific Concrete because they were referred by my pool company, but looking back I would have approached this much differently. I wouldn't discourage OR recommend anyone work with them. I just recommend to do your homework.
