I've had at least 100 gel manicures and have never experienced what I did at this salon. My friend and I stopped in on a Saturday evening. We was seen in 30 minutes for gel manicures. The salon was clean, the staff was fairly nice. I'm shocked that the salon received 5 stars. My gel polish chipped in 4 days as well as my friends. On the 7th day, my friend's polish was peeling off. My gel manicure lasted 9 days and I ever so easily peeled them right off after one lifted completely off itself. I will not be returning. read more

I had a pedicure and gel manicure last Thursday, the experience was ok, but my gel manicure was rushed. I noticed over the weekend how far away my polish was from my nail bed/cuticle and called when I was able to come in to have it fixed. I went in last night and my nails were buffed quickly and a different nail tech put a thick coat of polish on top and the clear coat. My nails are now really bulbous and painted to the skin. I hate to say it but it looks like I did them myself and are really sloppy. I posted 3 pics. If you need a decent pedicure this place is ok but I would not recommend a gel manicure at all. They were nice and I got in right away but they would have looked better had I done them myself. I'm a bit nervous on removing this much polish and what it will do to my nails as well. read more

Kim did my nails and she did an amazing job! She really took her time and seriously paid attention to detail. Every imperfection I noticed, she noticed. I got my nails done during a horrific storm and Kim gave me an umbrella to run out to my car with so I didn't get wet, so sweet! It was not a fast gel manicure that takes 20 min, but I'm always willing to wait an extra 20 minutes if I'm super happy with the results! read more

Was really hoping I'd love this place. I'm new to the area and have been looking for a new go-to nail salon, but this likely won't be it. I came in for a gel mani/pedi and the pedicure was just mediocre. On top of that, I don't think she did a second coat or clear coat on my nails. I had selected the OPI shine collection which requires a special base and top Polish, and notice she used the genetic base coat instead. The polish massively chipped off within two days. I'm giving three stars though because the manicure was awesome. On a funny, yet frustrating note, when I was getting my pedicure another lady came over to start working on my hands. I thought perhaps she was prepping my nails for the gel since I only had regular clear coat on. She started using the file directly on my nail to rough it up. When I tried to stop her, since I still had the regular clear nail polish on, she just nodded and kept going - I'm assuming she didn't know what I was saying. I asked the girl doing my pedicure if the lady knew I had clear polish on, they talked to each other in another language then they both started laughing. It was clear she for whatever reason thought I had clear gel polish on and was trying to get it off. My nails looked awful as she went to town on them with the file, but once the gel was on you couldn't tell. I had a French manicure and I received so many compliments. I'd maybe go back for a gel manicure, but I certainly won't waste my time or money on another pedicure. read more

Nails where filed way too thin after I requested coffin nails for NYE. Inexperienced techs, definitely messed up my nails. 3 nails cracked within the next couple of days. I took the entire set off within a week. I have not returned to this establishment since. I was highly disappointed. read more

I will start by saying that my friend had a lovely experience and her nails look gorgeous. However, I was not that lucky. My technician did not speak sufficient English to understand I wanted long, oval nails. Instead, she chopped them to the quick and somehow made them square. They're quite tender and there was some blood. She also left my toes a disaster, with the polish just slipping off. I would have gotten my brows done, but with the way my nails wound up, I figured I wouldn't have any left if I waxed. I have always, ALWAYS tipped generously until today. The mani-pedi experience was so poor that for the first time in my life, I didn't tip. I never thought I'd leave a place without tipping, but I don't even feel bad. I just moved to the area from Toronto and never before did I realize how much I would miss my old nail salon until I visited this one. First off, the lady doing my nails was somewhat pleasant but my manicure was awful and it started to chip within half a day. She also gave the most pathetic massage - it would have been better had she not even attempted one. The manager/owner also did not make me feel very welcome as he offered and brought other people water but did not offer or do that for me. He also just seemed kinda creepy. Came in on a Saturday with a friend and we only had to wait about 5 min to be seated. My manicure was terrible - it only lasted a couple of days before chipping a ton. I wasn't really impressed with the service I got. I wish they did more in terms of massaging shoulders while your nails are drying or more exfoliation of your legs. Like everywhere in the DC metro, that charge more than the national average for "just ok" service, but within the local average for price and above local average for cleanliness, quality of manicure, and service. TM Nail is new to the Del Ray neighborhood. The staff here is very friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. The building is completely renovated with all new furnishing. The service areas are very clean with comfortable seating and top of the line massage chairs for pedicures. I've been here on 2 occasions for a pedicure and waxing. The back rooms are relaxing with sink stations, wall mirrors and excellent lighting. The women that performed my services were professional, working quickly while paying attention to details and making sure they did a great job. The prices are quite reasonable for the location and I will definitely make them a regular part of my self care routine! read more

I went here based off reading other Yelp reviews. I wanted a cheaper cost pedi $28 but still with quality. Tiffany provided really great services. The massage was good for the basic pedicure. I am really picky when it comes to applying the color. Often nail techs do not cover the whole nail and I leave feeling like o could have done a better job. I will make this short and to the point . I have been going to TM for several years now my favorite nail tech left then I started seeing kim whom I love to pieces ! Then kim left and eventually came back . I seen Lee for a gel mani and regular pedi she did a great job love Lee . Well this time I wanted to change things up and I got a full set I usually call in my appointments but I did a walk in due to time . I dont know her name but I believe she is the owner / manager wife I think her name is mai ? So she did my full set I was reluctant to let her do them because she has done a mani for me in the past and I did not like it at all she is messy and can not paint and she really rushes . Well needless to say I gave him another shot due to my gut telling me to do others wise So what should have been a quick in and out turned out to her attempting to re do my nails twice because she didnt a horrible job ! She glued my fingers together and laughed about it she had glued my nail beds together and laughed about it, the shape I asked and even showed her a picture of I did not get / so after she painted them I got really upset it literally looked as if my 6yr old painted my nails with his eyes closed . I grew very upset and told her just take them off its ok I will go else where Kim seen my frustration and knew i had been a loyal customer so she calmed me down and insisted she would fix them . In which I thought she did so the original day I went in was a Thursday evening at 5pm. That Friday my thumb nail polish completely chipped off mind you its gel tips so I returned on Saturday morning to have it fixed . Then literally Sunday another nail bites the dust so I go in on Monday and have it fixed Kim was not there So I seen someone else . Nail fixed well would you believe Tuesday another nail completely breaks off like second nail did on Saturday . So kim only works Thursday Friday and Saturday but I am just saying forget it I will be having these taken off and going to a new shop this is totally unacceptable . After again going to the most convenient nail place for me (in old town) last week and being cut twice, I had to change. I saw reviews and tried this place. Very polite staff and the place is clean. The tech gave me a bottle of water when I sat down. She then brought a tray of instruments from the back which were sealed in a pouch; this made me very happy. Solid manicure. They carry Essie and OPI, but some of the bottles are old. Best to bring your own polish. Tips are cash only. Regular mani is $15. Another customer was complaining that her cuticle had been cut, but my experience was good. I will go back. read more

So I found this place via Google and read all the previously posted reviews and could not believe it was as good as everyone said it was, and frankly figured some of the reviews were faked, but holy crud! I just had the most amazing and beautiful shellac manicure! Kim did my nails and because she did such an excellent job on my nails, I had her do my eyebrows as well. I would recommend this place to anyone! $40 for a shellac manicure and eyebrow wax is perfectly affordable, and totally worth it. The last place I went left my eyebrows uneven, at the end of my wax when I stood up, Kim actually had my look at her and continued to perfect my eyebrows while I was standing I front of her. I haven't experienced this kind of excellent customer service since I lived in LA and paid way too much for the same services. From looking at the menu, one could easily get a gel(shellac) mani, a spa pedi and eyebrow wax for under $75 PS - cash tips are requested, but when I saw the sign I told Kim I didn't have cash and she nicely said, "that's okay, you didn't know," and made absolutely no big deal about adding a tip to my total.
