I guarantee you have finished your search for a contractor if your project is in his scope of work. Working with Hostetler Constriction Inc. was one of the best decisions we've ever made. Please allow me to explain. Planning to build an ADU is no small feat. We interviewed six contractors prior to making our decision. Bryan, the owner of Hostetler Construction Inc came to do the original bid. Let me preface this with some context. We were building this ADU for my aging mother. So when one contractor (NOT Hostetler) says are you ok with cutting corners (to reduce pricing), my thought was, no sir I have no idea what that even entails, so no that is not OK. Auto redflags! Hostetler Construction Inc was not the most expensive and to be honest not the cheapest option. So why did we go with Hostetler Constriction Inc? To be completely upfront, something in my gut said this is the one. I know that's crazy, but I'm serious. The owner, Bryan's approach, didn't feel rehearsed, it was simple and to the point, realistically presented, the calm nature in his presentation was reassuring. He wasn't trying to sell me anything, he was simply bidding the job we presented. From the time we finished the bid meeting with Bryan, we knew he was the one. Now, could we have been wrong, certainly, but luckily we weren't. From the time we broke ground to completion, this company, the owner Bryan, the foreman Parker and, all of his teams were literally my rock, sounding board, you name it, they were on it. I try to be practical, especially in what many of us stepping into a relm we have never experienced, feel as crucial moments in our lives. Building an ADU, the steps that entails and the costs associated with such a venture, this is intimidating. Hostetler made this process as user friendly as a guide for Microsoft windows for dummies manual. Were there issue that popped up along the way, well yeah, because we built a house. It's to be expected. Did they minimize any impact to us, yes, exponentially. Regardless if issues that required our interaction or were simple fixes, they owned the process. From foundation pour to framing, plumbing, electrical etc. each team was meticulous in their process. I was fortunate enough to be there physically step by step. I can not articulate high enough praise for what this company accomplished. They fixed, and significantly upgraded, a load-bearing wall that was terribly done before. They went over every detail so we got the design we wanted, with a great view of the living room. The electrician also identified some other issues and helped make the home safer. With a 2 year old and the little one on the way, I can't tell you how much it helps to have the peace of mind of a well-supported 2nd story and a potential electrical fire avoided. Also, a shout out to the drywall and painting teams. They were extremely courteous and considerate, especially considering we were ALL SICK WITH FEVERS that week! Yep, that was fun. Last point, regarding cost. Nader clearly made every effort to get this on budget and I appreciate that. The extra costs that were needed were very much justified and he didn't assume our approval, rather wanting to be sure we were ok with it first. Because the court-ordered debt remains unpaid, we advise anyone considering this business to check his CSLB license status (#1009476) first, as state licenses are subject to suspension for outstanding judgment debts. We highly recommend finding a reputable contractor who stands by their work and respects court determinations. UPDATE (July 2026): Following the final court ruling, the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) has officially processed our judgment and updated his license profile (#1009476). His public state record now carries an official warning that his license faces automatic suspension for failure to comply with an unsatisfied final civil judgment. Not only that but the small details that shined through the workmanship was impressive. Reconfiguring after a countertop Is what I thought I was being quoted. Jose quoted me $360.00 for the plumbing re-connection. My Sink was installed already, all that had to be done was the plumbing reconnection underneath. Upon Jose's arrival, he got to work, only to call me to the kitchen 30 minutes later, and tell me he needed a longer hose, and it was going to be $80.00 more than he quoted me. I hesitantly said, ok, Jose. About another 30 minutes later, he again, calls me, to tell me that now he needed different valves, and it would be around $120.00 more than he quoted. At this time, I was like, how can this be, that he did not see everything he needed to do. There was nothing under the sink, he could clearly see what he needed to accomplish, why does he keep adding on money. Now, picture this, this was all done, while he kept stepping outside to take calls. I mean, all morning long, where my Housekeeper even had said, wow, how unprofessional is this guy. I just nodded, didn't want to say much, because I wanted this to be done and over with, considering he kept raising his quote. Jose left to go pick up the new valves and longer pipe, and comes back 2 or more hours later. Jose finally finishes under the sink and I'm about to pay him through Zelle $560.00 and then he pulls out a receipt for $83.00, I was floored. Highway robbery! I ended up paying $643.75. My Dad arrived at my house and told me this was unacceptable. I said, look Dad, let this guy leave, and I will never have to deal with him again. My Dad suggested he took advantage of a girl who didn't know much, i said, could be, but we can't speculate, let's just go off facts. The fact that he kept raising the price on me is enough to say, I feel pretty taken advantage of. I will upload the original quote, along with final payment. Another pic i will share, is the other Plumber saying, everything Jose did, is common for the reconnection of plumbing, so why did he keep up-charging!!! I have been pretty bummed about the whole scenario, OH, did i mention how he was done with everything and the pipe was leaking where he had to come back and fix?
