I requested tiles to be installed in the restroom as well as replacement laminate flooring for the damaged areas. He gave me a rough estimate of how much his labor would cost. I picked up the materials and he and his team started at their next availability. His team was very professional. Not only that but the small details that shined through the workmanship was impressive. Section after section they would clean as they went and that told me a lot about who I hired to have work in my home. Affordable Handyman is a no-go for me moving forward or recommending. Not only myself, but the other Plumber I received a quote from, agreed, that any plumber doing a reconnection after countertops are installed, it is a give in, that the plumbing under sink need to be reconfigured for an upgrade/remodel. Reconfiguring after a countertop Is what I thought I was being quoted. Jose quoted me $360.00 for the plumbing re-connection. My Sink was installed already, all that had to be done was the plumbing reconnection underneath. Upon Jose's arrival, he got to work, only to call me to the kitchen 30 minutes later, and tell me he needed a longer hose, and it was going to be $80.00 more than he quoted me. I hesitantly said, ok, Jose. About another 30 minutes later, he again, calls me, to tell me that now he needed different valves, and it would be around $120.00 more than he quoted. At this time, I was like, how can this be, that he did not see everything he needed to do. There was nothing under the sink, he could clearly see what he needed to accomplish, why does he keep adding on money. Now, picture this, this was all done, while he kept stepping outside to take calls. I mean, all morning long, where my Housekeeper even had said, wow, how unprofessional is this guy. I just nodded, didn't want to say much, because I wanted this to be done and over with, considering he kept raising his quote. Jose left to go pick up the new valves and longer pipe, and comes back 2 or more hours later. Jose finally finishes under the sink and I'm about to pay him through Zelle $560.00 and then he pulls out a receipt for $83.00, I was floored. Highway robbery! I ended up paying $643.75. My Dad arrived at my house and told me this was unacceptable. I said, look Dad, let this guy leave, and I will never have to deal with him again. My Dad suggested he took advantage of a girl who didn't know much, i said, could be, but we can't speculate, let's just go off facts. The fact that he kept raising the price on me is enough to say, I feel pretty taken advantage of. I will upload the original quote, along with final payment. Another pic i will share, is the other Plumber saying, everything Jose did, is common for the reconnection of plumbing, so why did he keep up-charging!!! I have been pretty bummed about the whole scenario, OH, did i mention how he was done with everything and the pipe was leaking where he had to come back and fix? Affordable handyman is a go for me, they came and fix my chandelier. My drywall texture ceiling and the chandelier were completely damaged on the dining table. From the get go , he told me the price to fix it , and that he was going to match the texture, but the color to match was impossible bcuz the old paint. Well after the work was done my texture matched better than I was expecting, the color not but I'm impressed with the work done. Nothing changed in regards to what I needed to have done and what he said he would have to do when we spoke over the phone when he came out to look at it. But the quote that I received was more than DOUBLE‼ Not having success with the contractors or individuals that I connect with on Yelp. Just wanted to give a shout out to Jose, Anita, and Cecilio who did an excellent job in opening up a wall that was blocking a portion of my child's closet. They also relocated a light switch and removed some electrical sockets that we no longer needed. They were very professional and worked promptly sticking to their 2 day timeline. They were also very clean and organized in their approach, which is a big plus in my book. I'm so happy with the work that they did as it will help us get one step closer to installing the closet organizer we need to amp up our storage space. José mounted these shelves for me and hung the picture. This is just one of many of things he has done at my house over the last 20 years. José can do anything. No job is too big or too small for him and his crew to do. They have painted inside and outside the house, laid tile on the floor, laid tile on the wall, redone bathrooms, put in new doors, put up new walls, done electrical, hung fans, hung chandeliers, put in new door knobs/locks, hung pictures, un-clogged toilets, put in new cabinet knobs, helped move furniture and more. He also does work at my dad's doctors office. He and his crew do a really good job with whatever it is they are working on. José is like a member of the family. I trust him and his crew completely. I would give a zero if that option were available. i had them hang three doors at my home. None of them were installed squarely in their frames. In addition, all three of the doors rub on their frames and are difficult to operate. When I pointed this out to them, I was given febbal excuses. I felt that the worker's really didn't care that they had performed in a non-workman like manner. In addition, the gate they worked on would not latch. Because of this, one of my son's dogs got out and disappeared for a month. My grandchildren were devastated. We considered our family lucky that we found him and got him back home. Jose and his workers worked on our bathroom and we thought all was good UNITL we started having plumbing problems... We had to call a plumber and the plumber came out and told us that the plumbing was done wrong, they had replaced the wrong size pipe which was causing us to have a very bad clog. We tried calling Jose several times, left messages and even emailed him with no response. He finally answered a call when he didn't recognize the usual number that had been calling him. The sad part is he didn't even remember who we were, when he just recently did the job. We paid him thousands of dollars! This makes me VERY upset because he did the work for my mom who is 81 years old and who is very fair liked him until now. Basically he didn't own up to his mistakes and he cost us an additional $800 we had to pay to fix the plumbing, which he denied any wrong doing. This man was also supposed to replace our toilet seat and install a new one which he never did! On one side of the bathroom wall there is only one coat of paint and its very noticeable with a line going down the middle. We will NEVER do business with Jose again and we will also be spreading the word to everyone to not use his services. If you don't want plumbing problems please stay clear from this guy. I don't think he knows how to run an honest business. read more

I had Jose and his team do some work for me a few months ago. While working Jose pointed out that one windowsill had termites. I decided I had the funds to fix that and also one LED light fixture had recently failed as well. Jose told me to expect him at 7:00 to 7:30am. I decided I would do a bit of pre-cleaning before they arrived that morning, but at 7:00 am on the dot they were there. They helped to move some furniture for access and set right to work. Jose took measurements and when to get needed products. The crew even sealed any cracks on the house so that the termites couldn't come back. If anything was less then perfect; it was that they didn't check the light issue, until Jose was arriving back and he had to go back out for a replacement fixture. Jose prevented a big mistake on my part; I have been cleaning out old, very dusty, photo storage books. I've been gathering the pictures to get them scanned and put into electronic photo storage. I had gone through some of the albums; I really thought that I had all the photos out. As Jose walked past them in a bag for recycling; his sharp eyes spotted two photos that I had somehow missed. He pulled them out and gave them to me. They were from about 1940 and might well be the only copies. Jose's crew even moved and old piece of furniture I wanted in another spot that had nothing to do with the jobs I contacted them for. Jose is a good person and his crew does great work. read more
