The cafe is now owned by Diane, Ann's daughter. The tables are packed tightly together, but we were happy to get the last seats in the house. Nostalgic photos of Franklin cover the walls. The place is loud but with a great positive energy. People are small-town friendly and talk between tables as they enjoy their biscuits and gravy. We cajoled with two regulars who told funny stories. Our server, Gill, was quick to the table and friendly. He checked on us several times to see if we needed anything. The menu is a mix of traditional breakfast options, sandwiches, salads and wraps. Prices are reasonable. Food came out quickly. My husband ordered their hand breaded tenderloin with fries. The tenderloin was massive with a great browned breading, served on a Kaiser roll. The pork was tender and juicy. It was a perfect tenderloin, worthy of the Indiana Tenderloin Trail. The hand-cut fries are lightly breaded, crispy and hot. There was an up-charge for the fries, but they were so good and worth it. It was rainy outside, so I had a bowl of the daily soup - broccoli cheddar. The soup was hot, thick, creamy with lots of broccoli and cheese and stuck to my ribs. My soup was served with packs of saltines. Free street parking is available if you're lucky to grab a spot. The service was absolutely outstanding. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. The food? Unreal. The portions were enormous. There was no way we could come close to finishing everything, and every bite was excellent. But the real star of the night was the PB&J Jalapeño Burger. I know it sounds unusual, but trust me... it may have been the best burger I've ever eaten. The combination of sweet, savory, spicy, and smoky flavors was unforgettable. I'll be thinking about that burger for a long time. If you're anywhere near the Indianapolis or Greenwood area, this place is absolutely worth seeking out. It's a little dark and has a speakeasy feel. We turned the lamp on our table to a brighter setting to see a bit better. Our server was Chris. He is very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information about the food, business and building. The GM, Jeremy, gave us a tour of the upstairs portion of the building where they hold specialty events. It looked as though it had been breaded in some kind of cheese mixture. It was pan friend and the underside of my tenderloin looked like a carbon copy. It was burnt. I ate about1/4 of it. I did not care for the breading. My friends had the tenderloin and a French dip sandwich. She took the French dip home for her dog as it was too tough to eat. We had a great wait staff that checked on us and gave us time to catch up with each other Since this is an old library, there is no elevator. It is necessary to walk down 20ish steps to the main dining room. No matter what shape you are in, those steps are a hazard Would I go back again? Not for lunch, maybe dinner or pizza.

The slaw is creamy and the portion is large. The fresh cut fries are delicious. I loved my meal. Several of my friends had the salmon on mash potatoes dish which they raved about. A couple people made substitutions for baked potatoes or broccoli and the staff was super accommodating. Our server, Chloee, was super attentive and got our complex order perfect. She checked on us frequently. Food came out quickly. Chloee even brought out a complimentary dessert for the birthday girl. Chloee is a five star server, for sure. Above and beyond service - My original entree turned out to be out of stock. I told them it was no big deal, but they suggested the filet as a substitute, comped it despite it being pricier, and kept the generosity going all night. They obviously hold themselves to a very high standard. Friendly bar - Some of us arrived early and the bar was an awesome place to hang out before our reservation. One of our entrees, a salad, was delivered right away--before our drinks and complimentary bread. The salad also didn't have dressing. The bread was then delivered without the dipping sauce. Our drinks still had not arrived. We had been pointing all of these mishaps out to the server and eventually manager. The manager offered us a free dessert, which, while appreciated, was not what we needed. We needed the bread dipping sauce, our drinks, the other entree and the dressing to the salad. The other entree was delivered, followed by drinks and dipping sauce. No dressing though. I could keep going. The point is, nothing was on par with Stone Creek, Cunningham restaurants...or any restaurant I want in Greenwood. Hoping management can right this one example of a consistent breakdown of the system. I believe it can and will be done! Onward!
