I have been wanting to check out Aspen Creek Grill for awhile. Their 4 1/2 star status with almost 300 reviews on Yelp is certainly impressive. It was fairly busy when we went on a Saturday mid afternoon. We were seated quickly. The atmosphere and decor reminds me quite a bit of Cheddars. When we sat down, there was some kind of an annoying and audible hum coming from the ceiling. It would randomly go on and off. Our server told us that it had to do with their sound/speaker system. The place had a fairly high noise level anyway, along with the music that they were playing. Our server was very friendly and helpful in navigating the menu and answering questions. She went above and beyond being highly attentive in keeping up with all of her tables. The food was above par and very good, quality and quantity wise. We tried a few chicken entrees and they were great. The fried mushrooms were super good. I noticed somebody in the Yelp reviews compared them to Chili's. My opinion is that there is no comparison. My husband and I went last night. I have been one other time and the food was great, but our service was terribly slow. Last night our service was pretty decent, but the food was terrible. My husband ordered a cheeseburger and it was pretty dry and very boring. The bacon had been reheated numerous times and was tougher than jerky. I ordered the ribs. There were so many bone fragments in every bite. It was really ridiculous. It made it nearly impossible to eat. The button mushrooms had no flavor. The truffle fries were good flavor but I wasn't expecting the sauce to be so cold. It cooled the fries down almost immediately since it was smothered with cold sauce. My husband got a refill once on his soda, but I was never given a refill with my ice water. Our shrimp app was pretty decent in flavor but the breading was soggy. Likely from being under a heat lamp too long. Just feel like overall they really missed the mark. My hubs definitely won't be back. I'm willing to try again. Our waiter was attentive and kept our drinks filled up. Nice atmosphere for casual or a date. Had the pleasure of being taken out for Mother's Day dinner. The wait was terrible but it was Mother's Day, what establishment didn't have a wait? We heard other people say they wait is never that long so I don't hold that against them. Our waitress was so friendly, patient, and helpful since it was our first time there. She made sure we had everything we needed for our family of five on one of their busiest days of the year. She also explained with all the guests they had twice as many servers and explained how the kitchen was working overtime to make sure we all got our food on time. The presentation was nice but it looked better than it tasted. It lacked seasoning so a little bland. To give another try, I would come to happy hour or specialty days to get the best bang for your buck. The POW Wow Shrimp and Fried Pickles were tasty and was plenty for the entire table. Well my steak was overcooked, he had "jambalaya ". He didn't read the Description so didn't realize it was pasta not rice as one would expect. Had no sausage in it, was not the least bit spicy. I don't know about this place, stopped in a few days ago, the king pow shrimp Packed a little pow from what I was expecting, my steak man I hate say it tased and looked more like freezer beef than a good cut, my wife had the ribs and she said those tasted good, the drinks (adult) was good tried a few off the Menu. I loved my meal and finished it all. My husband got the ribeye steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. His mashed potatoes came out separately, but didn't take too long. I ate some of his steak, and it was delicious. I tried his sides, and they were good, but I'm glad I got the sides I chose. He ordered the cranberry margarita, which I have had before, and it's still as good as I remembered. I tried the black and blue cocktail, but I didn't like it, so our server removed it, and I drank the cranberry margarita instead. Meanwhile, my husband ordered the toasted marshmallow old-fashioned. He said it was ok, and he mentioned how it seemed they shorted him because of the amount in the glass. They have a nice bar section, and the vibe is cozy, rustic, and relaxed. I noticed TVs everywhere, making it a great spot for sports fans. Pricing is fair for the quality of the food. It's nice around the holidays because they have lights and a Christmas tree by the door. However, the use of black napkins is considered a significant misstep, as I have dined there twice and left disappointed. During my initial visit in June, I found the kabob to be tasteless and tough to chew. On my recent visit on July 24, I ordered the 16 oz Grilled Ribeye, which was approximately 40% fat; the mushrooms lacked flavor, although the rice was fairly satisfactory. It was my own oversight to choose a chain restaurant, as I often find myself unsatisfied, similar to the experience at fast food establishments. Lots of pple watching but the music is too loud for a casual conversation. They don't do birthdays but they will bring a brownie a la mode if you ask. It was my Mil bday so at least there was that. The food was good and flavorful, with an attentive/friendly service. They get 4 stars bc we thought we'd have a conversation with my Inlaw but she felt like she had to yell so not much of that. I'm excited to have another restaurant in the area and the menu here is large enough you can always try something different. Our server Summer was so friendly, checked on us often and made recommendations. One of the managers even came over to check on us and offered us a coupon for a free appetizer on a return visit. It was smaller than I was expecting on the inside, but all of the booths seemed private and there was a large bar area in the middle. The Spinach Artichoke dip appetizer was good and the perfect size for 2 or 3 people. I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes. I loved it. I thought everything tasted homemade. I have very mixed feelings about this restaurant because, honestly, it had all the makings of becoming one of my favorite places. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was fantastic, and every staff member we encountered was friendly and welcoming throughout most of our visit. Unfortunately, our experience took a disappointing turn as we were leaving. We asked for a couple of to-go cups for our beverages. One of the drinks at our table was a chiller, and we had also ordered a shot of rum and another alcoholic beverage during our meal. When we requested the cups, the hostess asked whether we had poured alcohol into the non-alcoholic drinks. We politely told her that we had not. Rather than accepting our answer, she apparently reported her suspicions to a manager. Instead of simply addressing us directly, the manager returned and informed us that she could not provide a to-go cup because she had reviewed the security footage and claimed she saw us pouring alcohol into another drink. What bothered me most was not the policy itself. If the restaurant has rules regarding alcoholic beverages leaving the premises, I completely understand and respect that. The issue was the way the situation was handled. Being accused of something after already answering honestly felt embarrassing and insulting. It gave the impression that our word was not trusted, despite having been respectful customers throughout our visit. It's unfortunate because everything else about the experience was excellent. The food and atmosphere were truly top-notch. However, customer service is about more than great service when things are going well--it's also about how concerns are handled when questions arise. Because of this interaction, what should have been a five-star experience ended with me feeling disappointed and offended. We were not tipsy. We were not doing anything that would make them want to go beyond plausible deniability. I sincerely hope management reviews how situations like this are handled in the future, because the restaurant is amazing otherwise. read more
