Everything was amazing! And I'm giving this review while the place is a little under construction and we STILL had an amazing time! We traveled from California to Hawaii and had the chance at a different Luau (which I'm sure was great as well) but this place embodies Ohana, community, love and laughter! The hour drive from Waikiki to make it to north shore to experience this was a great choice. The host was perfect, the staff was OUTSTANDING from the smiles to service while doing EVERYTHING in between! It's truly amazing how hard they all work while having a positive attitude and someone who's come from hospitality knows that's not always easy. They pose as entertainment, wait staff, clean up crew and so much more. Supporting this business knowing it goes to all these hard working families makes it ever more worth while. Fantastic Luau! Came here with family to see and feast at an authentic luau. There is strong ohana (family) feeling here. The music, dancers, storytelling, food was all top notch. We came for lunch on Friday, arrived early to take advantage of access to Waimea Valley to walk the botanical gardens and swim at at the waterfall. Then we changed and enjoyed the afternoon learning about the different cultures. There is no shortage of food. In fact they are very attentive and will bring you more of anything you ask for. This was my first time trying Hawaiian hot chocolate and it's incredibly good. In fact, my niece and I got multiple cups (small dixie size as it's pure chocolate with hot water) as we liked it so much. Again, they are super attentive in checking in with you to make sure you are taken care of Another aspect about Toa Luau is that's its small(er) and intimate compared to other luaus on the island. There is no bad seat in the house, everyone there wants to be there, is proud of their nationality and eager to teach you more about their culture and tradition. It's a wonderful feeling where it doesn't feel like work (but it is a lot of work to have the high energy for the full 3 hours!) and you are welcomed family. What an incredible experience! We've been to a few luaus in the past and this has been by far our family's favorite. With a 7 and 3 year old you never know how it'll go! From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and by the end we felt like ohana. It was educational throughout for the kids and adults alike. All of the activities were close to each other and easy to do so the kids could do them as well. The cooking demonstration was super cool and we even got to see the guys climb the coconut trees! The food was delicious!! The portions were perfect and they even offered seconds! They serve you, so no long buffet lines. The drinks were yummy, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. I can really only speak for us that our seats were fantastic (right next to the drummers), but every seat looked like a great seat to me! The show was awesome!! They take you on a journey through different island countries through dance and music, including the haka, and finish with fire dancing!! AMAZING!! The staff is what makes this the best luau. I'm really at a loss for words regarding this Luau. I'd never been to a Luau before but had read some great things about this one so we decided to give it a try. This Luau blew me away. The grounds where this event is held is absolutely gorgeous. We arrived about 45 minutes before check in and were able to sit outside and enjoy the beauty of where we were. Check in went fairly quickly and you were welcomed with a lei greeting and your drink tickets corresponding to the package purchased. We purchased the gold package which includes 2 drink tickets per person and seating above the stage but closer to the railing. The tables are assigned seating and you are shown to your table when you arrive. Before the meal there are presentations you can view and participate in such as scrapping taro, scrapping coconut, and weaving a leaf lei that you can wear on your head. You can also view the method for how food would be cooked in the ground. My son absolutely loved the scrapping the coconut and was enthralled by it. The staff were all extremely knowledgeable and happy to discuss in detail about each item. The food was very good and plentiful. Meals are served in the order of package, so platinum received theirs first, then gold and silver. After you were served we were asked many times if we would like more of anything. They were very happy to supply as much food as you wanted. The only downside was the line to get drinks. There were two bartenders and the line was extremely long. I missed about 20 minutes standing in line for 2 drinks and soda. I do think this could be handled better. The drink tickets are only usable for a few drinks. I ordered the Mai Tai which was very weak and had not much flavor. The dance performances were amazing. The dancing performances were about an hour. It was very captivating. Everyone seemed to really enjoy it. When it came to the final act of the fire show, my son was in love. Billy was a wonderful host and great entertainer. Everyone in this family made us feel welcome. This was one of the best nights we spent on Oahu. Also, you really will need a rental car. I am so glad we had a rental car to we could ensure we had a ride back to our hotel. I don't think we would have been able to get a ride share from this location at night. read more

There are a lot of luaus to choose from but we decided on the Toa Luau in part because of reasonable pricing and we also liked how they had interactive cultural activities prior to the luau. It's located on the same grounds as Waimea Falls and we also liked how they had a mid-day luau, which schedule wise worked better for our kid's schedule. We arrived on the grounds to explore/hike Waimea Falls a little after 11am. The parking lot was almost full by then and in retrospect I would have arrived a little earlier so we wouldn't be as rushed on our hike- basically we walked to the falls and straight back down. Even so, we missed a good chunk of the cultural activities which was a bummer but we did have about 15 minutes to do some of the things. We were greeted with a lei and did some weaving, watched a cooking demonstration, watched a guy climb up the coconut tree, and saw some traditional food prep that guests were taking part in (cracking coconuts, getting the meat out of the coconut, etc). From there they let us go to our tables. We had 2 drink tickets and had a good variety of drinks to choose from, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. They served us our food and it was good but not overly special. Pretty basic presentation on paper plates. Some of the meats were a little dry and we were a little bummed that there was no poi to try. They did say there was more food if you wanted to have a second serving. The show itself was good, there were various dances from the different islands. It was fun, interactive, and explanations of what you were watching. At the end, many of the dancers stuck around and you could talk to them and take pictures with them. Overall, a good experience, a fun way to learn more about island culture! read more

One of the best experiences ever! And an amazing bargain. Every seat had good views. We chose the silver seating and was thrilled. It came with a cocktail, a beautiful flower lei, a wonderful dinner show and unlimited food and fun. Also the pass gives u free entrance into Waimea valley/waterfall which itself is $25 savings and a great event if u plan for it. The valley is closed Mondays, so we went another day because the pass is good for a week. But definitely give at least an hour or two for the waterfall/hike. (Bring a change of clothes/swimsuit so u can go into the waterfall and dunk) The show was great! The host Uncle Eddy was funny and easily entertaining. They had interactive entertainment! One setup was some of the girls helped us weave some headbands. Another setup was showing us how they grate coconut meat out. Another setup was showing people how to do one of the dances. So many fun activities prior to dinner which were really entertaining. Unlimited food, really friendly people, crazy amount of dancing in the show. This Luau was so much more than just a luau. It was a true family experience from start to finish. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming and everyone had an important role in the performance, demonstrations, and food service. From the children of staff members to the more seasoned staff members, every interaction we had was impressive. The demonstration of games and food prep before the dinner made us feel like we were truly attending a family luau on someone's property. It wasn't cheesy or gimmicky like other luaus we have seen. They pride themselves on being a family, and you can tell how each employee is invested in the final product - your experience. This luau was incredible - great group of people who seemed really interested in engaging with tourists to have a good time and learn something about various Polynesian cultures. The m.c. was great at keeping the flow going while cracking jokes and sprinkling in facts, the performers gave great service as greeters/ushers/waitstaff/cultural representatives/dancers/entertainers. Whoever's training that group deserves accolades, because that group presented a fantastically cohesive charming experience for me and my husband, and neither of us are typically impressed by much. This was our first luau, and we really enjoyed it. The food was overall good - the coconut cake was a very light sponge that I found airy and delicious, the roast chicken was tasty, the salad was fresh and well-flavored, and the mac salad was much much better than the mac salad I'd had that morning from rainbow's drive-in. The Hawaiian bread was also great. The pulled pork's texture was good but very little flavoring, I used the chicken sauce and salad dressing to flavor it. There was also a piece of coconut pudding thing that was pretty tasty. The cultural experiences were fun and kid-friendly - get a piece of the coconut-flavored taro if you can from the demo, it's delicious! I wish I knew how they flavored it. This is my second luau, but first time at TOA LUAU. I went to Germaine's around 5 or 6 years ago. Like a few reviewers said, there was a sign saying the waterfall is closed, but we parked in the lot and walked in since I saw a lot of people inside. We checked in and was greeted instantly with some lei's by a younger girl, who was about to seat us... when another woman came and told us she had a proposition for us. She showed us our table, but then offer another table which was closer to the stage. It was perfect for our kids since the original table was near the back and I was afraid they wouldn't of been able to see. I said thank you and then the night just kept getting better and better from then on... We enjoyed the vibe of the luau. It was ran by families and you could tell everyone was involved and felt nice. It wasn't commercial like Germaine's. The jokes were funny, Cousin Eddie was cool, everyone was engaged and we were entertained the entire time. I was impressed with the two gentlemen climbing up the coconut tree. The food was delicious. I ate almost everything they served and not to mention, all you can eat. If I wasn't worried about gaining extra weight, I would have gotten seconds. My daughter killed her plate and usually she takes forever to eat so I know she loved it. I'm so glad the other people didnt show up at our table because we ended up having the entire table to ourselves. What's cool was they gave out birthday cake/pie to those celebrating a birthday so my daughter was super excited. (We came to Hawaii for her birthday btw.) Seriously, this was the best experience for my children since it was their first time in Hawaii and I'm so glad TOA LUAU gave them so much excitement and love. We felt like family. I want to mention Eddie and the other gentleman who was on the mic was amazing. I don't think I caught his name? That's my fault! The dancing was amazing, the fire show was very cool. I wish we could of moved closer since the fire was on the lawn area. The kid enjoyed it a lot. But I want to mention, Billy (I believe he's the owner/started this luau) came and sat down on our table and we talked for a while. Billy was very cool and we loved his energy, we would make jokes back and fourth and he was really sweet to our kids. He gave my son a necklace which he said he won't ever take off Lol and gave my daughter a turtle necklace too. We were so surprised and greatly appreciated that nice gesture. The dancers stayed after to take photos with guests. I got a few photos in and I loved how the girls took photos with my baby daddy and got him shy, I was embarrassing him the whole night but that's what's family is for. Great luau package alternative to the polynesian center during the January covid peak. The included Waimea valley hike to the waterfall is worth the sweat, so best to come early to have plenty of time to get up and back down before the Luau opens. I'm not too fit so it worked up a good sweat to make the roundtrip, but my 5yo was able to make it just fine. Actually he did throw a tantrum before we entered the luau, so maybe it was a bit of a challenge. (there was a shuttle schedule at the top by the waterfall, if want to pay $10 or whatever it was to ride it down, but we were past the last ride anyway) I'm not much of a nature person nor a photo person, but there are some amazing photo ops to be had if you are into photography. I had one shot of a big tree that surprised me how artistic it looked when I reviewed pics later, lol. (sorry cropped out the person on bottom) A peacock came from somewhere at the opening to come display itself around and then seemed to know when to go back to where ever it came from, a nice surprise. The hands on cultural to do's seemed a bit rushed, maybe because lost time with the boy crying before entering? Think I scraped skin off a taro with part of a can with a friendly young man, then quickly tried to make a headband but ran out of time. But the friendly gal helping there quickly finished up the bands for us, much easier! :) After some group learning about traditional cooking methods, and tree climb demo, it was off to the dinner tables in the large hut. The tables were spaced out appropriately (our group was big enough for one entire table) and the open air of the hut felt safer for covid peak times. The food is absolutely the best luau food I've had, heck maybe the tastiest Hawaiian meal period. Everything was great, salad, lomi, rice, mac, the chicken was decent, but the pork was amazing. It was so good I got seconds and finished that up as well. The dessert haupia was great, even fruits were great, and the unassuming piece of cake was even awesome, lol! Guess this is only my 3rd luau, but the food by far was my style and delicious! (other luau with the big buffets offer a much bigger selection, but I never enjoyed pork or anything at those buffets, usually the best thing at the buffet are the taro rolls). The maitai was quite small and not too strong, but luau maitai is usually generic anyway, so no big deal. The show on the stage was a bit lacking in the wow factor. All the elements were there, and the performers were incredibly talented to perform tirelessly after serving dinner and all throughout the evening with great spirits. But the small size of the stage looked cramped for the performers and did not achieve the awe factor and as immersive of a show as it could have been. The huge show at PCC is like a theatrical production which is entertaining in that sense. But the best luau show was at Mauna Kea in Big Island, which wasn't big, but was able to keep you locked into the show with the great outdoor setting and incredible story telling. I think if the Toa Luau show was done completely outside in the courtyard instead of the small stage, it would make for a much better and attractive show. Or maybe expanding the current small rectangular stage to extend out and around into an L shaped stage would allow much better spacing for performers as well as a more encompassing and interesting visual setting for the eyes than just the current small stage. The drummers were awesome and the beats they produced got even my tired body to want to move, so all the elements are there to take the show to the next level with a little trials and tweaking of the show setting! read more

Been to Oahu 4 times and done three luaus. This was the best. It combined all the elements of culture, food, and surroundings! It was a highlight of the trip. Too bad FDA makes all places use a certified kitchen because I would have loved the pork to be from the ground like our first time over 30 yrs ago but it was still excellent!! This was our first Luau. I chose this location because of the activities and education factor. I wish we got more time with the activities but I'm thankful we did a few. We arrived a hour and a half earlier than the start of the Luau. We immediately went searching for the waterfall and glanced through the botanical garden. The waterfall was underwhelming that day. I was hoping for something bigger and lots more space for swimmers. They do have a changing rooms and heavily beaten up life vests to hand out to visitors. It was still worth the trip but I did not feel the need to go swim at the waterfall. The botanical garden was interesting but I was hoping to see more and also a peacock or two. No such luck but the tail is in the mountains, on paved roads. There are electric vehicles that can shuttle you for $10/person. Once we got to the Luau after our little excursion, was great. Great team, very welcoming and great entertainment. We learned lots about phrases and the culture. We had a member of our party with allergies and they were able to accommodate. I did call ahead and they were on top of everything. The pork was delicious and chicken was juicy. They did offer to serve seconds but by the time I was ready, the show had started and the food was getting wrapped up. During the show, the team does an amazing job of keeping the audience engaged. We learned a little bit about the dance, jokes in between and lots of cheering. I would highly recommend going to Toa Luau. It's about a hour drive from Waikīkī. Parking can be challenging here due to nearby beach goers and park visitors. read more

Toa Luau is the only luau in Oahu that has a midday timeslot (12:30pm) which is PERFECT for kids (4 and under are free)! Once you check in, they give you your drink tickets and greet you with a flower lei. We got 2 drink tickets per adult, and 1 per child. You can use the adult ones for alcoholic beverages or just soda - but it was nice that this was included with the overall ticket price. A host will show you to your seats/table & you can check out the cultural activies in the lawn shortly afterwards while others are checking in. We purchased Gold seats & had a great view. We were up high enough to see the stage, but not too close/far either. They group families with other families, really loved the thoughtfulness here! Your ticket also get you entry into Waimea Valley which is absolutely beautiful/stunning. Make sure you make time for this during your visit (we went after the luau)! The food was mediocre, but the experience really made up for it! The cultural activities are so much fun! You get a full Polynesian experience, and the hospitality is truly amazing. What an amazing experience for the first trip to Hawaii with my family! This is one of the best, if not the best, luau I have been to. Unlike the huge luaus I have been to before, Toa Luau feels more intimate. Everyone there is very friendly and makes you feel welcomed. We went to the 12:30 pm showing because of our young kids, and it felt like time just passed so quickly. There were great pre-show activities like weaving crowns, milking coconut milks (our kids loved that) and fun demonstrations. The luau food was very flavorful and portions were pretty big. There is a show that is immersed with engaging storytelling and fun dancing and music. I thought my young kids may grow restless after awhile, but they stayed attentive throughout the entire show - that's how engaging the performances were. You also have an opportunity to see the Waimea Falls before or after the luau, which is another perk. Such a memorable experience.
