We stopped here on our back back to Boston and we're NOT disappointed. The coffee is self-serve and delicious. My husband had the Breakfast Reuben, which is a delicious Fried egg, the best hand shredded corned beef he has had in a long time, aged Cabot cheddar with mustard aioli on house-baked English muffin. He skipped the house slaw though. When he was done he was like, "that might have been one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches." I had the PB & J, which I devoured! on its housemade lightly toasted English muffin. I have made homemade English Muffins before and these were missing the light cornmeal outer coating that I am accustomed to, so it is more like a roll in texture, but it was delicious nonetheless and I would order it again! We had been here a few years ago and remembered loving it. This time, not so much. We both ordered the breakfast platter with eggs, toast, a protein and homefries. The eggs weren't scrambled like we ordered, more of an omelette/fried style IMHO. The homefries were kind of burnt and salty. The bread was ok, but nothing spectacular. The pancake was the best part and even that was just ok. You pay $1 more for an add in and it's only in the center of the pancake. The girl who took our order was very nice and patient with the line out the door. I also spent $4.50 on watered down iced coffee- could've just went to Starbucks. Disappointed that we went out of our way to come here and it's just not worth the $60 spent. NOW let's talk about the gratuity. 16% is added on when you order at the counter - this is mostly a self service restaurant. You order at the counter, pour your own hot coffee, and clear your table when you're finished. They say the 16% is so that their employees are making a livable wage - here's a wild idea- pay them more!! I'm tipping before I get any service beyond the counter. I rarely write reviews on places but I felt very compelled to do so for this place for anyone thinking about stopping in on the road so you don't make the same mistake we did. If you come here, just order the pancakes. They're big, tasty enough and hopefully they give you more than a 1/8th full syrup dispenser. You'll still be confused by the 16% auto gratuity for what's effectively a fast food style order up front place that you get your own drinks and bus your own tables, but hey... Pancakes. The reason for my low score is that the portion you get for hash plate ($16) was so laughably small I legitimately got upset just looking at it. When I think of a plate of hash (especially at what I consider a normal breakfast entree price), I expect an entire plate filled edge to edge with meat and veggies that have been lightly fried. What I received, however, was a McDonalds-hashbrown-sized plop of over-crisped corned beef turds. I'm talking 4-5 bites worth of food, tops. The English muffin was over toasted as well -- pretty sure it would've broken a window if you threw it at one. The only saving grace again were the pancakes, which other reviewers have brought up as being good. Also as a note, I'm no stranger to dropping hundreds of dollars to feast at restaurants but y'all.... $63 for 2 two-stacks of pancakes, a side of two eggs and sausage, the sad hash plate and two coffees is highway robbery. Get your portions up and the auto-gratuity removed and the to place wouldn't be half bad. Save your money. read more

I've been here for breakfast a few times. You need to know a few things before coming here: 1) Order at the counter, but they will serve your meal at the table you've chosen indoor or outside. 2) It looks like they're adding a 16% service charge to the bill, but they were up front about it (the guy taking my order mentioned it before the tip screen came up). 3) The food may be on the expensive side, but everything I've ever had has tasted great. I've only sat outside and they have a big tent for when the weather's not great. The place is dog and kid friendly. It's an extensive menu (at least for breakfast) and tasty. True, there's no waitress service at the tables, so you'll have to go inside for a coffee refill. Suck it up, you can do it. The French toast is amazing. The pancakes are very good. My wife has enjoyed the eggs. It's good for locals and tourists, so enjoy when you're vising the area. They serve dinner a few nights a week and they have a sign for tappas, so I'll have to try them some night. read more

This is the first time I've ever written a negative review of a restaurant. I thought the food would be good because the restaurant was full. I was wrong! You have to order at the counter and get your own coffee, which would be fine if they didn't add an automatic 16% tip to your bill. I overlooked this, thinking that the food would probably be amazing. It wasn't. I ordered 2 banana pancakes and a side of bacon. My husband ordered a ham and cheese omelette. With the 16% tip, the bill was $49 and change. We went to our table and, shortly thereafter, an employee delivered our food. My pancakes were okay, which is why I am giving a 2-star rating instead of a 1-star rating. When my husband cut into his omelette, literal uncooked egg white came oozing out. i went here on a sunday around 12:45; there was a pleasant amount of people. not too crowded. this restaurant is counter service, so you place your order at the counter and they bring it out. you are responsible for getting your own water and stuff. the outdoor seating is really nice and there was a water jug outside as well as in. very thoughtful setup. the service was nice and it was refreshing not to be talked to during the meal. keep in mind this restaurant applies an automatic 16% gratuity, so it's not necessary to tip (but is appreciated). the food: they were out of the french toast and had no biscuits so i opted for chocolate chip pancakes with a side of home fries. the pancakes were as expected; fluffy and cooked well. i would've liked more butter but that's an easy fix. they give you a pitcher of syrup instead of a little container which was much appreciated. the home fries were some of the best i've had in a long time; crispy and well seasoned. my date liked the western omelette a lot, and the bread was clearly house made (as described) and fluffy. read more

TLDR: Good food, negligible service, forced prepaid gratuity The food is very good. Ordered chocolate chip pancakes for the kids and my wife and I got eggs benedict (one bacon/arugula and one lox/capers). It's a quaint restaurant but has plenty of outdoor seating with good cover for when it rains. However, I'm peeved by the 16% automatic gratuity. You have to order your food at the register, fill and refill your own coffee and water, and clear your food/dishes once you finish. That's like 80% of what the wait staff is supposed to do. They bring your food out and that's it, no secondary service or checkup after that. If you need extra plates, condiments, etc., you have to go back to the register and ask for it yourself. Why bother going to a sit down restaurant if you have to prepay a gratuity and then not get any service? There is a newspaper article about the restaurant on the wall that talks about how the new ownership added this forced gratuity (gratuity by definition is voluntary) and the response was "positive". I don't know anyone who would be ok with paying 16% more than advertised and getting almost nothing in return. This dishonest practice should not be encouraged, it's essentially bait and switch. If you are going to force the gratuity, at least provide service commensurate with the additional fee. Better yet, adjust your menu prices so you aren't misleading your customers while ensuring your staff are paid fair wages. read more

I showed up with my party of 12 at the peak of foliage season - yikes! Despite not taking reservations or even allowing "call ahead" the staff were super accommodating and helped us find indoor seating for our entire party! This is obviously a popular spot - the line was out the door most of the morning- and while they have plenty of outdoor seating, this time of year it's a bit chilly to eat outside- so I really appreciated the staff helping our group to all sit indoors! Food was decent - huge slices of bread for the French toast, eggs Benedict was delicious and I appreciated the plentiful and often refreshed coffee! Good options for vegetarians and vegans, though some gluten free option would have been appreciated. Staff and food are 5 stars, need for additional seating gives it just 4 stars. I, 100% agree with the reviewer who said this place has a sign that said "best breakfast ever" but it's ok at best. Not many choices in the area so we were really hoping for the best. For the price point that they charge, portions did not reflect that. Nor did the service. What we ordered: - 2 Irish Benedicts at $17/each (Poached eggs, Hollandaise, corned beef hash, biscuit): the biscuit was super dry and hard, not enjoyable at all. My bf literally added tons of ketchup to it just to try and soften it up and make it edible. - Mimosas: we ordered for the table and it came self serve. They provided us a bottle of champagne and a mason jar of orange juice and 3 glasses to drink from. We had to grab everything from the front counter and bring it to the table and pour it ourselves. There was not nearly enough orange juice so I had to order another jar separately and it came to $6.54 for just another glass of OJ. - Baked French Toast $14 (House brioche dipped in custard and topped with blueberry jam. Comes with local Braman Family maple syrup and whipped cream): I would not recommend this. Portion was small and I still could not finish it. The two other people in my party tried it and also did not want to touch it. I've had similar dishes at other places and this one was just not well executed. From start to finish there are issues. Their ordering system is order up front and they bring your order to your table. Of course we like to tip well when it is deserved but it forced us to tip before realizing how terrible and minimal the experience is going to be. We were double charged for the Irish Benedict and they did promptly refund that once we figured it out half way through our meal but at that point we already tipped based on the original amount. Our meals took quite a long time to come yet it wasn't an overly busy morning. They provided bins for you to dispose of your own food and plates but they were way too full to fit the dishes and it felt like you were playing Tetris with your plates. I really had high hopes for this place based on some of the positive reviews but we really had such a bad experience. Really hoping it was an anomaly and that no one else has to go through the same. The only positive I can confidently state right now is that the place is "cute" and the outdoor seating is a nice set up with a view of the little pond. read more

My husband and I were up for the week of July 4th. Since there's limited restaurant options for breakfast and lunch in the valley, we we found ourselves at Toast and Eggs, twice- once for lunch once for breakfast.
