As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with such a warm welcome, I felt like I was walking into my families restaurant. The vibe was amazing, the r&b music playing in the background truly set the tone. My waitress, Shante ( I believe that was her name) was very pleasant. There was also another waiter, I'm not sure of his name but he wore glasses, he was fun, he tried jumping in one of my pictures . Now to the food, the "homies" were good but could have cooked for a little longer, they were just a tad bit hard but still tasty. The side of beef bacon was cooked to perfection!! Overall, the blueberry jawn had great flavor, the fresh blueberries, lemon and blueberry cream cheese complimented each other very well, the actual French toast was a little mushy for *my* liking, but again, overall great flavor, it didn't even need syrup. I also tried the mango berry iced tea, it was light and refreshing and not too sweet. The lavender peach lemonade was delicious! The perfect amount of sweetness, and just the right amount of ice in the glass. I couldn't quite taste the hint of lavender but again it was delicious. I cannot wait to come back, I'm excited to try the Sunday special, oxtail and grits! This was my first time having brunch there and I ordered the chicken and waffles. The waffles were buttery tasting so good the chicken was season and tender just right. I also ordered a peach lavender lemonade so delicious. I recommend this place in West Philadelphia. read more

Went there today for brunch: arrived at 12:15 had to wait over an hour to be seated, cool i wanted to support! I came for the oxtails and grits, but they were sold out! Order something else, still wanna support, but had to wait over an hour to get lukewarm food! To top it off, you don't even get a receipt, just a person at the register telling you a total and haphazardly asking how was your services! I can say I tried it! read more

The restaurant had nice decor and seemed pretty cozy. I wish I would have been able to be seated and actually tasted the food! I saw that they closed at 4pm, but I arrived exactly at 3pm and was turned away. Very poor customer service! If your policy is to close an hour before posted then she should have that posted online or on the window of the establishment! I drove almost 40 minutes to get there and to be greeted with a nonchalant response such as we're closed and you can't do take out either was very disappointing. I decided to drive over to Green Eggs Cafe who also closed at 4, but I was seated and met with great customer service. We even were served crafted expresso drinks after 4pm while they were cleaning. That's what I call customer service. Sadly, I will NOT be returning to this place. I also cannot recommend it as I would not want anyone to experience such poor customer service. I have to give 1 star for now because my experience today at Toast was HORRIBLE. I didn't even get to sit down to have a meal. I arrived at 12:32 with a party of 5. We were quoted 40min-1hr wait time. We were fine with that. At the hour mark, I try to call in to check on our status because I haven't gotten any call or update and no answer (they don't answer their phones at all). I went inside to get an update and was quoted 30 more minutes because there were 2 tables in the back leaving soon. We wait another 30. We go back in for another update 30 minutes later (because they are still not answering the phone). My mother is THEN finally given some honesty from the hostess: The kitchen had been backed up for I don't know how long but they had to give one of the back tables more time, past the 90 min table usage rule because of that. The hostess stated that the table in the back had 25 more minutes before their time limit was up and at 2:25 on the dot we should be able to be seated. At that point, we had been there for an hour & a half and were extremely hungry and restless. We would have preferred for that to have communicated to us earlier so we could've made a more reasonable decision on if we wanted to wait. But we really wanted to support this business and we again had already been there for 1 1/2 hr so we decide to wait the 25 minutes. We walk in the restaurant for now the 4th time, at 2:30, to get an update and that same back table is still sitting, conversing. No sign of anyone notifying them of their dining time being up. We waiting for about 5 minutes to speak with someone. When no one came in that time frame, we decided to just throw in the towel and try somewhere else. At this point, we had been waiting for 2 hours and had been given the complete run around. The hostess did catch us as we were about to get in the car to say they were then getting the guest to finish up but at that point, we were over the whole experience. I really don't want this one bad experience to reflect on the quality of this business because I have seen great reviews, hence us wanting to go. I may consider trying the place out again on a week day, in hopes it would be less busy. But I do believe the staff should have better communication skills, there should be a landline you can get through to, and you should be able to make online reservations for parties smaller than 12. Those suggestions would've personally been very helpful to my experience today. read more

We were all pleased with our food selections: pralines & Cream French Toast; Three the Hard Way(Eggs, Bacon, and Waffles w/Strawberries); Fish & Grits. Here's the only downfall during our visit, service was extremely slow despite the kind and courteous Waitress/Cashier/Hostess/Phone Monitor (This was all one person!). We sat down at the counter at 9:30AM and our food was delivered at 10:30AM on a Thursday. The venue is small with maybe a max capacity for seating around 25. Again, food was great! I'll try it out once more to see if I can get my food served in less than an hour. I would probably only visit on a Wednesday or Thursday. Too afraid to try a weekend, I can only imagine how long the wait would be. read more

I been following this place on ig since it opened and I really was dying to try it. I finally went and was very disappointed. it's way to many people walking around breathing on your food as it's coming out. it's very small inside (but nice) as they are coming from the kitchen people are standing in line near the bathroom breathing on the plates as their trying to squeeze by. They have seats damn near in the dish room smh who wants to eat and smell the dish room or either the bathroom directly across from your table? i waited 45mins to be seated which was fine then another 40mins to get my food just to get it and it was cold! I had fish and grits and it was terrible. The Grits have way too much going on. No flavor lots of heavy cream with a bunch of peppers thrown on top. However my husband had chicken and waffles his food also came out cold but he liked it his only complaint was the temperature of the food. I was very disappointed not to mention I drove 35mins to try this place. read more
