This is a Picture of the Hair that was Found in My Fiancée's Pancakes

I Want to Start this Review by Saying that I've been a Resident of the West Philadelphia/University City Area for Well over 40 Years! My Initial Thoughts on this Establishment were High until this Past Saturday. My Fiance and I Decided to have Brunch and I Told Her that We Should go to Milkcrate. In Hindsight that was an Extremely Bad Idea! Up until Saturday, I've only Had. iced Lattes from this Place and for the most part They were Pretty Good. This Past Saturday I Had a Turkey Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwich, it was Kind of Dry-But Edible nonetheless. My Fiance Had a Breakfast Platter with Eggs, Pancakes and Homefried Potatoes-It looked Appetizing. We began to Eat and Suddenly My Fiancé began to Cough, I Ask Her is She Okay!?! She Then Discovers some Hair Mixed Into Her Pancake!?!!!! Immediately We were Both Disgusted!?! I Then went to one of the Workers to Inform Them of What We Discovered and to My Surprise I was Politely Brushed-Off!?! Instead of Being Refunded for the entire Purchase-We were just Refunded for My Fiancée's Food!?! Needless to Say We Will never Dine Here again! But more Importantly, I want to Say that Pre-Gentrification, there were a lot of High Quality Eateries on Baltimore Ave-now We're Left Places that Have Poor Customer Service and Unsanitary Food Preparation Personnel!

    So much seating

I was in town visiting from NYC and Milkcrate was a short walk from the rental house we had. The shop has plenty of seating and a cool vibe. They have many records for sale at reasonable prices. The breakfast menu has a good selection of breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, avocado toast, etc. I had an everything bagel with egg and cheese. The bagel is probably smaller than your average bagel (though being from NY maybe our bagels are just too big). But it was delicious. The drink menu was pretty extensive. I had a hot chai with oat milk that was good. Staff was super kind and the food came out quick. Awesome little cafe in the neighborhood.

    BLT, Breakfast tacos, matcha latte

Record store coffee shop. Top notch collection of Vinyls. We got breakfast tacos with sausage because they ran out of chorizo and a BLT. Tacos still turned out great and the pico was fresh. The BLT had fresh ingredients, too. The cold brew was too bitter for our taste. Overall, good spot for a quick bite in a cool atmosphere.

I like this MilkCrate almost as much as I like the other one in Fishtown. I think this spot on Baltimore Ave is a great location because of how accessible it is. The vibe is relaxed and cool like you'd expect from a coffee shop. I would totally make this my neighborhood coffee place if I lived closer/ if I didn't work so many days in the office. The coffee was very tasty as well, in case thats what you're here for!

The most delicious matcha!!! I get the iced matcha latte with strawberry shot and skim milk.

He was more than happy to tell us about all the stuff that he has on the menu, what his recommendations are, and some stories behind it. He was talking to us so much that the people who came in behind us left! It's great that they have a lot of vegan options, including the lassis, which is a complete surprise, and the food was all really good. I ordered crazy chaat, a cardamom lassi, and the chicken naan pizza. Pizza was definitely interesting and flavorful, but I think it doesn't quite hold up that well on the naan bread. Perhaps a bit stronger on the flavor than I was looking for, and I generally don't do too much dairy, so not sure I'll get that again, but I would definitely try some other things, including another lassi. Just about two tables inside, and then a few outside, so not a whole lot of space to eat there, but the food is good. I'll try it again sometime! I think they have a KOP location too!

Good quality coffee as well, tasted good. Very charming spot, not huge, but some good space to hang out and chat. Solid coffee, excellent location, and great bean value!…read more Great Bean Value sounds like the hottest new punk band from Philly. Anyway, I stop in here all the time for a little pick me up when I'm out and about with fam around Clark Park. The space can be a little cramped, but the coffee is always on point, there's outdoor seating for when weather cooperates, and again, they sell their beans and give you a free coffee along with! The bean variety (Bean Variety is the smaller pop punk group that split off of Great Bean Value in the 00s, they went corporate it was totally lame) is solid. Small batch stuff from all over Lat Am, in a variety of roast levels from blonde to espresso. They can also grind the beans for you. $16 for artisinal beans and a coffee on top is pretty good if you're the type who can stick to one or two cups a day. A neighborhood fave of mine.
