Hollandaise sauce is yolky with a somewhat thicker consistency. Got a Caesar salad for my side and the portion size was more than I expected! Leafy greens in a Caesar dressing with croutons and a generous pile of Parmesan cheese. Really great dish. - House Benedict | Hickory smoked shoulder bacon with avocado mashed in. We got this dish with a side of hashbrown chips which were crispy but still retained a little mushiness. - Breakfast Burrito | A little of everything: scrambled eggs, smoked bacon, sausage, cheddar cheese, hashbrown chips, and a side of salsa. Me and my wife ate here a while back. We moved to Brea years later, my daughters wanted to take my wife to brunch. The good, the food was amazing! The person who served the food wonderful! However... Toast has fallen victim to today's workers and their attitudes. The persons up front seating people, rude, with a whatever attitude. No customer service skills. Visited on a Sunday around 10:00 AM and was pleasantly surprised to wait only five minutes for a party of three. Our server took our drink orders quickly and remained attentive throughout our meal. I ordered the veggie omelet with country potatoes as my side--both were delicious. The potatoes were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I've been here a few times, mainly for breakfast, but yesterday I came during lunch. The breakfast foods are always delicious: great pancakes! Fluffy and delicious! For lunch I had the sun dried tomato chicken sandwich and ordered my daughter a kids grilled cheese with a side of fruit. The portions were big, even for the kids meal! I was pleasantly surprised by that, and loved the fruit they used. It was a combo of watermelon, strawberry, pineapple and an orange slice. Was definitely better than being given a huge amount of melons that I feel most people don't enjoy; at least for me personally, this fruit selection was great! Father's Day lunch was great. We had reservation at 1:00 but got there at 12:40. We got a table at 12:45 and luckily got the best server too. I didn't catch her name but she was so good and very nice. We ordered drinks and she didn't push us to order our meals. Drinks came and we ordered our meals. Our meals were delicious. Our server kept walking by to make sure we have everything we needed. We've eaten here many times but for Father's Day, I was very surprised at how good the service was. Had a very cute birthday brunch at Toast! I was able to make a reservation on Saturday night for Brunch on Sunday, the restaurant is very spacious and plenty of tables, no long waits! Our server was amazing and checked in on us quite a few times. We ordered a few cocktails and they were all delicious, i personally had the Lychee Grapefruit Mimosa, which was very yummy and unique, as I have never had a lychee flavored mimosa before, I would recommend. I had a Santa Barbara (Smoked Salmon) Eggs Benedict, the dish was yummy but the Hash Brown Chips is the best side hands down, very crispy and light. We went in and it was not crowded at the entrance but no one greeted us or directed us on which side to go. I've come in a few times now specifically for the steak sandwich and everytime it's an absolute hit! The steak is always cooked perfectly and melts in your mouth, everything about it honestly. My girlfriend and I decided to try something new and went for the ribeye grilled cheese with a side cesar salad. Although nothing beats the steak sandwich It's definitely in my top choices. The Cesar salad was perfectly tossed and the dressing is phenomenal. For the service our server who I think was the manager was very attentive and accommodating to all our needs. Just tried toast for the very first time. Was very pleased with the experience. The place was very nice and is a lovely place to eat brunch for a date or with the family. Service was very good as well and our server was extremely nice. I had a breakfast burger and my girlfriend have the pumpkin spice pancakes. This was our first time eating here and for a reason. Over the years of passing by here it always looks like it's closed or out of business because the building is dark and looks completely dead. Upon looking at my yelp it showed the place was open so we decided to give it a try. We got a seat right away and there wasn't many people inside. My wife asked our server who finally brought us water after 15 minutes of being seated if this restaurant was part of the Story Book Alice and Wonderland and he said yes! I would have never of figured that because there's really nothing inside there that gives you that idea except the books on the shelf. I ordered the Tuna Stack and it tasted fine but it was missing the edamame for the bottom layer so for the price being asked even for Happy Hour is unfair for such a small serving. I also ordered the Tomato Bisque which was great and hot. My wife ordered a oriental chicken with a salad of some type and she was told it was on the mild side spicy but it came so spicy hot she could barely eat it. My Caesar salad and the clean water was my favorite. The mens bathroom was dirty and water etc on the floor and smelled horrible and made me feel like wow i cant believe I'm eating in this same building. Our server was very polite but i had to try for 20 minutes to get someone's attention to get my bill. The overhead music was awful it was like disco of some sort in another country and it was to thumpy loud and didn't match the atmosphere or theme of the restaurant at all. I came here for brunch with some girlfriends last month and forgot to write a review on my experience here! The food here is amazing, I got french toast and it was huge! So delicious, I ordered a side of eggs with it which was delicious as well and was a little sad they don't offer eggs on the side ( a combo of sorts) but understandable since they're a brunch place. We LOVED the pumpkin spice pancake (yes, as in ONE)--it was huge, basically the size of the entire plate! But the flavor was very pumpkin spice predominant. Absolutely delicious! Our server, like the hostess, though wasn't exactly bad, because he did his job. He had the same flat affect like the hostess. What is going on with the support staff here??? So I'm leaving 3 starts because of terrible service. My meal was good and fireplace so no complaints about that but here's the issue. I travel a lot and when I'm solo I like to sit countertop at bar because of the service is usually better. I mean the bartender is right there so no excuse for them not to be attentive. Christmas Even early afternoon and only two other patrons are at bat down from me. I order my food and literally in the 20 or so minutes it took me to eat my meal, not once was I checked in and asked if I wanted more water, another drink or anything else. I would've have liked all of the above! At about 25 minutes when I was well done with my meal, water and coffee, the server then asks if I want anything. I asked for check at that point and even though service was severely lacking, I left a 19% tip because it's Christmas. When I left the bar top was void of anyone and bartender didn't even say goodbye or thank you. It's expensive to go out these days and I am by no means an entitled or difficult customer. I decided to go to Toast Kitchen & Bar to meet up with a friend that I haven't seen in a while. We both wanted to try something new and the pictures looked pretty good. Upon pulling up it seemed like it was an old CoCo's or Mimi's Cafe. The inside was well decorated and felt modern in a good way. I arrived earlier than my friend and I was able to be seated while she was on her way. I ordered a lavender latte which was a 7/10 and a Nutella toast because I wasn't too hungry. The toast seemed burnt and really hard and the hash brown chips were great, but really difficult to eat with a fork or spoon. My friend said her rib eye chilaquiles were okay and she ended up taking most of her food home. The service was great and they were very friendly. I visited this place with my colleague because we had to plan for a conference. We've heard that this place was delicious. I ordered the Denver omelette and it had ham veggies, sharp cheddar cheese, and it was so delicious. I got the potatoes, but they were crispy something or others. I just forgot what they called them. Those are absolutely delicious as well! I also got an orange and coconut drink. I think it was called orange jealous, and it reminded me when I was a kid going to Orange Julius. The waiter was kind and friendly and kept coming to us and asking if we needed anything. The place is a remodeled claim jumper restaurant, and they did a really good job of making it classy and brighter. We stayed there for a couple hours and they were fine with us doing work there. We had an early dinner, at 4pm to celebrate Mother's Day with our group of 11. Previously, we have come to Toast for a nice brunch but decided to try dinner. It wasn't busy at all and our server was very attentive to our needs. There was some confusion about the availability of the Happy Hour Menu but after a bit of discussion, we were able to get those food and drink items. Yummy appetizers included Parmesan fries, short rib fries, shrimp and green beans. My wife had the Salmon and I had the Chicken Picatta and they were both delicious. HORRIBLE. Leo is a horrible manager coming from someone who's worked in the food industry. I had made a reservation at 12 and someone else in my party had joined the waitlist for an earlier time. We checked in at 10:40, our wait list time was 10:51-11:06. As we checked in Leo told us with an attitude we would still have 30 minutes to wait. So we went to the bar to grab a drink. As we sat there someone in our party went to see what was the update at 11 and the MANAGER LEO said we have to wait another 30 minutes because he gave up our table and he has no table for us. He stated he had called for us and called the girl who made the waitlist reservation. After she showed him her call log he then changed it that he had said he sent her a message via Yelp. Also, our party was sitting at the bar about 10 feet away and he had never gone to check the bar for us. He is extremely rude and unprofessional. read more

If it's the weekend I highly recommend you make a reservation it gets really busy, loud and crowded. The green chilaquiles weren't the best, but it was a good size meal, came with beans, rice and eggs and you can add meat for an additional price. For some reason it took a while for our order to be taken but we didn't have to wait that long for our food to arrive, although we had to ask for a couple of times for food/drink items that were missing. We ordered the $19 classic benedict with fruit bowl and $23 Santa Barbara with arugula salad. The eggs on Benedict were hard boil. What a disappointment when my husband cut into it expecting the yolk to be runny, but solid yolk!! The fruits were not freshly made, looks like it's been sitting for a while. The Santa Barbara came only with ONE sourdough toast with mashed avocado and smoked salmon. Definitely there was nothing special about that dish and not worth $23! The only thing good was the arugula salad. Toast needs to retrain your chef about cooking eggs correctly for certain dishes and please add another toast for your Santa Barbara! read more

I felt compelled to review. The musty smell. The gnats. Dead gnats in the glass display shelf should have been an indicator of the fight we were going to encounter while eating our food. Too many gnats! Please tell your maintenance crew to flush out all plumbing lines...sinks, both kitchen and bathrooms with hot water for a good 15-30 mins. I've been to Toast many times and I've always had an amazing experience, however, my most recent experience was absolutely disappointing. My husband and I were so excited to take our family whom was visiting out of state. Our waitress was Evan S. and our service was awful. At the beginning, Evan was pleasant and got our drinks right away. One of my family members and I ordered the same thing. My family member received her food first, however, the order was incorrect and had not realized it until she was a few bites in. As I was trying to communicate this to Evan, she cut me off before I could complete my sentence and told me, "The rest of the food is still coming out. Let's first wait for the food to come out." I, then, told Evan that my family member's order was in incorrect. Evan then reached across the table and took the plate from my family member mid-bite. At no point did Evan pause to acknowledge my family member was actively eating nor to ask if she even wanted the original order or to keep what she was working on. Even if we would've paid extra, that would've been completely fine but my family member was not given an opportunity to make that choice. Evan just swiped the plate without asking. Typically, once the plate touches the table, it remains on the table unless family is okay with having the plate removed. Also, midway through our meal, my aunt mentioned she had not received her avocado yet. My husband had his order of avocado between us both which he had been eating from already. I mentioned to Evan that our aunt was missing her avocado and was quick to remove the plate from my husband's side to take it to my aunt. As she was making her way to take the plate to my aunt, mid-air, I told Evan that the avocado had already been picked at by my husband and son and there was that second order of avocado we were missing, which was meant for my aunt. She returned my husband's avocado. We were embarrassed that she was close to giving our aunt the half eaten avocado, I found that unhygienic and flat out rude. At no point did she pause, to assess the state of the plate before touching it and taking it to someone else. She could've stopped to double-check if there was a second order of avocado input on her end. Evan lacks attention to detail and rushes which comes across as plain carelessness. She was rude towards the end when paying the bill, as well. At the end of our breakfast, I asked her to confirm her name and when she confirmed she pat my back. That was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. My family commented on feeling like they weren't treated politely and said she was "bold." I was so embarrassed for their experience as I recommended this place to them and apologized. I've worked in the food industry in the past and I say this because want to point out that I understand how overwhelming serving can be, however, this is not an excuse to be rude to customers. Even on your bad days, treat customers with respect. I spoke to General Manager Leo, whom was apologetic and stated he would talk with Evan. I am leaving this review to share that the food is great and every other server has been amazing-- hosts and busboys are great and so polite too. I left Evan a tip because that's only fair. Evan needs some serious work on the hospitality department and learn server manners-- until she learns to treat customers better, avoid being sat in her section. read more
