Service after placing order was poor "Hot" tea was not hot. After asking if we could get hotter water we were told that they don't have a microwave and it's just "hot" tap water from the sink. I guess they aren't able to boil water either? I didn't drink my tea because it wasn't hot enough to extract the flavor. My order came out 15 min after everyone at my table so I felt rushed to eat because everyone else was finished eating. Coconut mussels were meh I wouldn't recommend them to anyone else. The "happy hour" menu wings we were told aren't apart of the happy hour price when placing the order but they were good. French fries that were ordered after placing the initial first order of food took about 20 min and we ended up just asking them to be placed in a to go box so we can leave. My wife, 2 year old, friends, and I got there right when they opened. We were instantly invited and welcomed in. It was a delightful beginning to what was a wonderful meal and dining experiences. The food was very good, the outdoor deck was nice--and eventually the sound from the cars on HWY-50 faded into the background as the food came and we indulged in the sustenance of the cuisine and the substance of our conversation. DO NOT ORDER TAKE-OUT! We ordered take-out at 5:20. It said it would be ready at 5:40 so we arrived at 5:40. It was ready at 6:05. That's over twice as long as promised. We discovered 2 items missing when we got to our hotel. I called them 4 times to ask for a refund for the 2 items but the phone number on their website is dead. I emailed them to the email address on their website but got no reply. We were not able to return to talk with them in person about it and we should not have to. Their phone number and email should be accurate. We're out $20. And I tipped $18. Wish I hadn't. read more

The customer service was horrendous. I went in for some drinks last night, and my partner and I only stayed for one, as they made us feel unwelcome. We will not be back. Tried this place when I was on a road trip in NorCal! It was a great stop for indian food in Lake Tahoe. We had the paneer tikka pizza and gobi manchurian and it was a great taste of Indian fusion. The wait staff was friendly and timely with taking our order. Sat at the bar so didn't have a chance to appreciate the ambiance, but the space was inviting and large! My husband and three young daughters dined here for a late lunch. Service was a bit slow but made sense being a family run business. Worst service you can get I came here with the family . Whoever took the order never told us there is wait time. we did wait one hour and 30 minutes and when we went to check on the food honor said 7 minutes 7 minutes pass by no food n thin was 10:20 pm . We got here 8:45 ish. And we paid for our appetizer and have to leave as I was there with my 7 month old and 4 years old. The guy rush out started yelling at us saying don't you come back and started to take pictures of my car. I can understand if you were busy you had one table after us n food were served to them before us. Came here for lunch about a month ago. We enjoyed the decor and the service. I ordered the Crispy Fried Beef with Japanese Curry Sauce. --The presentation of the plate, wasn't anything to talk about either way. The smell of the Curry sauce brought me back to our time in Japan, but that is where things turned not so good for the curry and beef. The Steak and the Panco were over cooked. As a result, the meat was very dry and lacking flavor. I was hoping that the curry sauce would make up for the lake of flavor, but alas, it was not much more than a gravy with a hint of curry flavor (so disappointing). However, the highlight of the plate was definitely the wasabi caesar .dressing that I had on my side salad My wife and our friend ordered the Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura Bowl. --Neither of the ladies felt strongly one way or the other about their dish. Summer is back in full swing up here at Lake Tahoe. I love coming up here a short drive from the Sacramento area on weekends. Always on the lookout for new tasty restaurants to try, I came across this Toast Tahoe combo, bar and restaurant serving some unrelated food that turned out to be very tasty and fun.The food here ranges from pizzas, to smoked tri tip meats smoked right in a big smoker in front, to even Japanese food of various teriyaki offerings. A full bar is on offer, so tequila shots are not out of the question with the pot stickers! All this variety of food would be useless were it not that everything we tried here was wonderful. The outdoor dining for lunch is the way I like to dine. Our service was very on point. Some of these reviews complaining of slow service ... hey what's the rush, you're on vacation so just freakin' relax! Have a drink, or three! It's a small kitchen cooking food the right way and none of this pre made and reheated stuff going on like at a chain restaurant. Dinner fare is fancy, with steaks and seafood on offer. Prices? Well, just consider you're at freakin' Lake Tahoe, world famous resort area, so yeah, prices will be higher than in the suburban strip mall. If you're really concerned with prices, this Happy Hour here at Toast Tahoe is made just for you! HALF of all bar menu items, including pizzas, pot stickers, tri tip sliders and mac and cheese. The prices end up being $4-6 each. OK, yeah it's worth it at that price, but I might have a little trouble wanting to pay $12 for some of those appetizers. We had the strawberry salad with grilled chicken breast. This was a wonderful salad with unique and tasty flavors, but be warned, the chicken is $5 extra and the salad started at $14, so we ended up with a $19 salad ...with no crab or lobster. It was sure tasty, but hey, you only live once! The smoked tri tip sandwich with fries was good, I thought it could have used a little more meat ... but who doesn't want more meat! The pizza was nice, esp for the price of $6. Well balanced flavors with pesto or red sauce. More or less stumbled upon this gem yesterday. We're renting a condo across the street and came here for happy hour, but ended up staying for dinner because we loved it so much! Their summerita is a refreshing twist on a margarita. Everything we ate was fresh and delicious! The chicken cordon bleu was everyone's favorite. This is indeed a local gem. The food is fantastic. We had butter chicken, shrimp tempura, clam chowder, chicken 73, and BBQ ribs, and everything on the dessert menu. The food was flavorful and had good spice. The fusion part of the restaurant is just weird. The service was a bit meh given that we were the only two people there yet they didn't clear the plates when we were done with our first course or provide serving spoons with the mains. If the goal of the ambience is a messy space and uninspired, then it hit the mark. My biggest tip for anyone going here is that they stick a tablet in front of you and point to the complete button which takes you to a tip page where the defaults are 20%, 25%, and 30% for the tip. BUT the owner, who served us and handed me the tablet, never disclosed that they had already included an 18% service charge (for a party of 2). The chili dipping sauce tasted stale. The egg rolls had an odd consistency, perhaps frozen too long or not reheated well? Skip the flight of fries, just different dry seasonings and the "Cajun" one tasted like a dead ringer for Tajine. The butter chicken sweet and oddly tomato centric. The curry shrimp was the best of the picks but still only a 6 out of 10. Nothing obviously wrong just lacking in flavor intensity. read more
