Their new location on Blvd of the Arts and Central Ave is much more spacious than the origonal place on N Tamiami.We called for call ahead seating for 8 and by the time we got there our number had increased to 11. They were very gracious and added a table to accommodate us all. Matt, as our server, did an excellent job. We ordered a blueberry muffin and an orange mango muffin for the table. Both excellent. Several of us ordered their homemade corn beef hash with onions and peppers. It's some of the best in the city. Others got their special mango- coconut waffle. Judging by the conversations between the staff and guests the majority of the clientele are locals. This location has indoor as well as outdoor dining. First time here since they opened. We live right around the block so was hoping it would be a great breakfast spot, I love breakfast! Unfortunately it was really bad I ordered oatmeal which was typical diner , instant watered down slop. Not the nutty, textured oats you get with real homemade oatmeal. I ordered two eggs over easy, came out undercooked and overly runny Slathered in butter! How is that possible to screw up fried eggs? Stopped into the Toasted Mango this morning for some coffee and breakfast to start the day. Seated in a booth right away the coffee was quickly served along with our menus. The wait staff was everywhere - I swear they could read our minds with the coffee refills and were quick to clean up plates as they emptied. The inside reminded me of a Jimmy Buffet video - lots of bright colors and natural light. There's a clear glass or plexiglas between the dining area and the kitchen. Ordered the toasted mango special - two eggs, bacon, home fries and French Toast. Mango butter is house made and added a sweet flavor when melted on the French toast. When looking for a Sarasota staple that serves traditional breakfast look no further! They serve both all day breakfast and lunch, diner style with inside and outside seating. We were seated at a booth, the server came by quickly got us going on drinks and food. My dad is an omelette guy so he chose the three cheese omelette and I went for the recommended and featured toasted coconut mango waffle! Also opted for the fresh squeezed orange juice. Food came out quick and you can tell everything was made in house, yes the orange juice was squeezed in house as well. The waffle was fluffy and did not even need syrup! What made this waffle special was the fact that it was covered in mangos and toasted coconuts!! Great flavor! Dad's omelette had chunks of cheese in it and he opted for bacon as well, which was generously cooked in. I really loved the diner feel and the great food! My dad and I had a fantastic breakfast at Toasted Mango! I opted for their namesake mango waffle, which came with delicious fresh mango and coconut on top. The waffle itself was outstanding, and would be great on its own as well. I also had a cup of oatmeal to start, which was very well made. We sat outside on the patio, as their indoor dining room was full. The patio was a beautiful place to sit and enjoy our breakfast, underneath the shade of a large tree. Only issue with service I had was I was told the wait would be 15 minutes & unfortunately that turned into 45 minutes due too "nobody getting up" from there seats apparently. Not sure how true that was, but anyways..... the only reason why I'm giving this cafe 4 stars is because my smoked salmon Benedict tasted slightly fishy . ( If you eat fish you know fish shouldn't taste fishy ) . Other than that the eggs and potatoes were splendid as well as the mango French toast. I would come back here to eat again , although I'm a pescatarian I'd probably not order the salmon Benedict again ; and stick to basic roots such as the French toast or try the waffles. read more

This place is walking distance from the hotel that I was staying at and wanted to get some coffee. Since it was open early and they served breakfast food, it was bustling with people coming in and out. I just did take out as I had to go back right away. It didn't take too long and I was admiring the decor of the place. It's fairly large for a diner style place. It's a breakfast and lunch place, basically open from 7:30 am until 2:30 pm. The menu is rather small with things like a salmon plate, avocado toast, a "Sarasota Omelet of house-roasted turkey, a veggie burger, Reuben, etc., all at reasonable prices. I had their "Marylou" comprised of a goat cheese, fresh mango, jalapeno, and bacon which I found to be both unique and delicious. We are on a quest for the best breakfast spot in the Venice, Nokomis, Osprey, Vamo, Sarasota area. Using Eggs Benedict w/ham/Canadian bacon and Eggs Benedict Florentine as a reference item. The assorted extra and side for well rounded review. Toasted Mango is our 6th restaurant (my wife.has tagged about 14. ...... and the executive summary here is a 3rd place in a stack rank scale so far. On their own merit a 4 out of 5 on my bell curve Yelp-meter.... so not too shabby. Actually got a parking spot and this looks to be challenging, so be prepared. Seated in the packed restaurant immediately. Timing was magical?? Service, waters and coffee lightening fast. Zone defense wait staff.....3 different folks asked to take order. All pleasant and helpful. I ordered the Eggs Benedict w/Canadian bacon w/home fried potatoes and my spouse ordered the Eggs Benedict Flourentine w/grits. Our daughter ordered scrambled eggs w/sausage patty and home fried potatoes. We swapped with each other half of our orders. (32 years of marriage in a week ;-) ) The poached eggs were perfectly cooked! All 4 of them. The scrambled were also properly cooked, not over cooked or rushed. Very good. The home fried potatoes were a sensible portion and nicely cooked as well.....and hot when served. The Hollandaise sauce was also a good consistancy and favor. A nicely combined lemon, yokes, butter, mustard and salt. Again well done, flavorful!! not some salty runny goo.. Some suggestions. The EB Florentine had some nice fresh sauté spinach in it and a tomato medallion also nicely done. We knew by the EB w/Canadian ham that the english muffin bottoms were toasted slightly and nice. However the tomato was either so wet or so much liquid or butter or oil came onto the muffin. Or possibly the spinach was so moist, that the muffin bottoms were soaked and mushy. This might have been exaggerated in that the plate/bowl the meals were served were a bit too juicy on the bottom and it could not drain away. The Canadian bacon was just okay and tasted a little like lunch meat. Service remained strong through the meal. Water filled, bottomless coffee etc. Etc. Good spot. Wow, is all we have to say. We quickly looked at the profile page and instantly saw great presentation of their food images and their menu options. Decided to give it a try. We ordered avocado mango toast, mango French toast, and Breakfast yogurt banana split. Mango mimosas and a rum drink. All breakfast items were Over Delicious! Great breakfast options and we definitely enjoyed our food. Both Johanney and Philip were extremely wonderful and enjoyed their service. They kept checking in on us frequently and were fun with conversation. Very roomy inside and they use their dining area. An excellent visit My visit today for breakfast was as good or better than my last 5 star review. I arrived a little before they opened at 7:30, I'll fix the time on Yelp, and there were already a few people waiting to get in. A person who was happy to see us let us in and I grabbed a 4 top. I already knew what I wanted, their homemade Corned Beef Hash and Eggs. They still offer to include mushrooms, onions, and green pepper pieces, which I got. Although they also still offer their popular potato cake with applesauce, I opted for their home fries. The food was excellent. In my last review I thought they went a little light with the corned beef, this time it seemed fine. Very tasty. The potatoes were good, but think I will be back to the potato cake. Nice place, bright yellow and green colors. The music was classic upbeat stuff like Chicago's Make Me Smile, Takin' Care of Business by Backman-Turner Overdrive, and I'll Take You There by the Staple Singers (thank you Shazam). They have a few tables outside as well as several tables inside, and by the time I left it was practically full. Having trouble deciding what to order? We were here two days in a row (yes it's THAT GOOD) so we can give you a side-by-side match up. I'm gluten free, so I can tell you the gluten free mango coconut French toast is (far) superior to the gluten free mango coconut waffles; the gluten free waffles are good, but a bit dense. The inverse is true for the regular non-gf menu; the mango coconut waffles are (apparently--I can't actually try them) amazing fluffy goodness while the French toast is just really good. (We can't speak to the pancakes, you're on your own there.) My mom loved the regular waffles so much she wouldn't risk ordering something else for the second breakfast. Just get them. Oh, and order a side of mango butter -- it's fabulous! We were pleasantly surprised by a lack of wait on Friday morning, and a very short wait about 9:30 on Saturday. We arrived around 9:30am on a Tuesday and they were busy, but we were seated quickly. Incredibly friendly and responsive staff We tried the jalapeño bacon, mango waffle and a make your own omelet. All three were fantastic. The mango waffle was piled high with fresh mango, coconut, and the creamiest whipped cream. Fair warning: the place gets packed early, and stays busy all morning long. The parking situation is tight. You may have to circle around a few times, but it's totally worth the wait. I ordered the hash, which I was excited about, but it left me wishing I had ordered something else. It was lacking flavor, and stingy on the extras like mushrooms.
