While the name and the menu look fun and different, the overall experience was basic. Borderline 2 stars. We were seated outside quickly on Monday morning for breakfast, and outdoor seating allows dogs but they don't offer dog water bowls or anything. We tried the mango mimosa and bloody Mary, which were the best part of the meals. Service was extremely slow to take our order, and they did not come to check on us until long after our food arrived (we were done eating by the time service returned). They did not bring syrup, so we had to look for it inside (and it did not taste like real syrup). The Benedict was reportedly okay with extra thin hollandaise and my meal came with French toast and undercooked scrambled eggs (asked for well done). Great Breakfast Spot. Get there early because this place fills up quick. They make a waffle that melts in your mouth! I also tried the Blackberry crunch French Toast. It was scrumpdididallyumptious. So good, very sweet, if I have it again, I will probably ask for the lemon drizzle on the side. Another thing I liked about this place was the fresh coffee. I have been trying to try a toasted mango café since I moved to Sarasota, lots of people had recommended it to me and the menu looked enticing. I finally got the chance to try it yesterday and my expectations were met and surpassed. I ordered the Eggs Benedict - veggie, which consists of black beans and advacado. The portion was large and tasted as good as it looked. I got a side of fruit and a homemade biscuit. The fruit was so fresh, every single piece looked high quality and bright - far from the typical dull, dated fruit cup you find at many breakfast restaurants. The homemade biscuit is served with their famous mango butter, it was the best biscuit I think I have ever had. At the end of my meal I was stuffed but the biscuit was just so good I had to eat it. One thing I would clarify is what sides the Eggs Benedict comes with. The menu states "All Eggs And Omelets Are Served With Your Choice Of Home Fries, Grits, Potato Cake, Mixed Green Saled, Or Fresh Seasonal Fruit And Choice Of Toast, English Muffin Or Homemade Biscuit." I ordered a side of fruit and a homemade biscuit with my eggs Benedict and I was charged for the biscuit so I guess this might not apply to the Benedict's. Not a big deal at all but was just unsure if that was correct. Either way the biscuit was delicious so I would of been willing to buy one anyways. I shared a Belgium waffle and that too, was delicious. The service was great, we were greeted and served promptly, our food came out in just a few minutes. Loved this place! If only I could give them 10 stars!! I just spent 6 days on Anna Maria Island where the food was meh. Due to the software issues impacting the airlines we got stuck in Sarasota for two days. However, this was the best place to be stuck. I found Toasted Mango Cafe on Yelp and amazingly it had so many five star reviews that I had to try it. What a delectable treat. Had been on a morning stroll when the heat of the morning became too much. Was looking for a smoothie cafe and saw this place had smoothies and headed over. Was surprised to find it was a breakfast spot that offered a small number of smoothies. We decided to stay and have breakfast. We were quickly seated in a booth and I changed my mind to a heartier breakfast when I saw the Homemade Corned Beef and Hash on the menu. The corn beef is real (not the canned stuff) and was very good. Also tried to order a smoothie, but they were out of one of their flavors (I think they had only 4 flavors). This is a cute little restaurant and I will give it another chance, but I'm giving it 3 stars. I deducted one star for the "atmosphere" and one for the food. First, the good parts: The place is warm and inviting, and the staff were all friendly and quick. It wasn't busy when I arrived, so that helps. There are tables outside, which might be nice sometimes, but it was still too chilly and breezy outside for that. The menu has a ton of variety and reasonable prices, so it was tough to make a decision. I will be back to try some of the other offerings. Ambiance: One star deduction there. There wasn't a customer in sight that was less than 50 years old, yet every other song they were playing in the background was an obnoxious electronic beat dance tune. Note to the manager: Try to create an atmosphere that is comfortable and inviting that customers will enjoy and look forward to returning to. Obnoxious urban pop electronic noise is not the way to do that. Classic "Rat Pack" music like Sinatra, Martin, Bennett along with some 70's soft rock favorites would be a huge hit. Now for the other one star deduction...the food. I know that most of the reviews are very positive about the food, which made my experience even more disappointing. I ordered the homemade hash and eggs with home fries and a biscuit. The eggs and home fries were good, but the hash itself had almost no flavor except for the diced onions and peppers. The biscuit looked great but unfortunately, it had the consistency and flavor of cardboard. Even with two jelly packets on it, I couldn't eat it. I should have ordered the toast. Bottom line: I think this is a nice little restaurant and I am looking forward to trying it again. There are many choices on the menu, I think that I just chose poorly today. read more

It's chill and great for breakfast or lunch if you don't feel like getting all dressed up like for some of the other restaurants in the area. Please allow me to save a discerning diner from a wasted morning/afternoon. Certainly not everyone will have had as bad of an experience as me, but I had a really bad one start to finish. If you care about quality of ingredients, this is not the place for you. If you care about cleanliness, this is not the place for you. If you care about quality service, this is not the place for you. The iced tea was awful, completely undrinkable, due to poor water quality is my best guess. The place was filthy and extremely poorly maintained. Our server took our order and did not come to the table to check in with us even one time afterward. One of the servers aggressively bumped into one of our chairs and didn't so much as say "excuse me" My French toast was simultaneously burnt to a crisp at the bottom - knife was struggling to cut through it, tasted bad, AND soggy on top - they must have rinsed the fruit and poured it on top while it was still wet. It also had a gross imitation vanilla flavor. Thanks to all the new hotels and apartments nearby, this place is busy and crowded. We waited and an employee in the toasted mango shirt and exercise biker pants said "hi" and walked by took someone's order and walked away. I ended up taking my mom to another place. Let's me start by saying the food i had was delicious! Exactly what i was wanting on a chilly vacation morning. However, the experience itself was less than thrilling. We got there just before 10am on a Sunday morning, and found seats at their little bar area upon entering. There are a good amount of tables in the small-ish restaurant and they also have an adjoining area for bigger parties, should they need it. We were promptly greeted and given beverages and had our order taken. While sitting and waiting for our food was when we really noticed everything going on around us. The restaurant is small so you can't do much for the noise level in the place, this we understood. What we didn't understand was the fact that the servers were literally yelling across the restaurant to each other and to the host at the front in order to communicate. This seems uncalled for when it's such a little place to begin with, and adds a damper to your breakfast when you're trying to enjoy your meals and there are people yelling all around you. The staff were friendly and you could tell there were many locals around that enjoyed the restaurant, but there was little professionalism when it came to dress as well, with one server sagging her pants to low she had to keep pulling them up, and another coughing into her hands right in front of us sitting at the bar proceeding to touch kitchen items behind the counter. I was also surprised when my food came and the $3.99 side of avocado that I had orders was a few tiny little bruised up slices of avocado that looked as if they had been shoveled out (Tampa restaurants could NEVER-see pics below). My ordering a side of avocado was thinking I'd at least get a good half or so for $3.99, but no. Other than those few little hiccups, the food was good and came out fast, but if you want a nice breakfast place you have a little vacation brunch at, this place will possibly not meet your expectations. read more

If you're visiting from out of town, make sure you stop here for breakfast! The fruit topped French toast with mango butter was honestly the best French toast I've ever had. The French toast has notes of vanilla and cinnamon, and it's airy and flavorful on its own. But then they top it with fresh blueberries and strawberries, soft banana, and whipped cream. Add that mango butter on top and it's just so fruity and flavorful, without it being too much. I didn't even add syrup because of how delicious it was! We also had ordered the waffles and egg, and a side of bacon with a fresh orange juice and a mango mimosa. The picky eater at my table enjoyed his food, and listened while I raved about my own dish. This is a classic breakfast (and lunch) diner and I love it. They have all the breakfast comfort food: eggs, pancakes, French toast, hash browns, bacon, sausage, juices etc. everything you would expect at a fair price for the area. The staff is amazing, friendly and attentive. Every random wait person that walks by treats me like I am their customer and asks if I need anything. My iced tea glass was huge with plenty of ice, which is the only way to serve tea. I had the French toast, eggs and grits and with the mango butter and powdered sugar I didn't need syrup, but I had it anyway! I ordered toast on the side to go and they timed it just perfect with the bill. I came back for lunch and had the blackened tilapia wrap and three bean mango salad. Very good, but I would like a little more "blackened" taste. For the 3 bean salad, I would suggest that using black beans instead of kidney would be more interesting. They even have some healthy stuff like wraps, smoothies and salads if you are feeling a little guilty. If you are having a bad day, just stop by and you will be smiling before you leave, guaranteed! The parking lot is small and was full for breakfast, but there is free parking on the street. I stayed at the Hyatt and just walked over.
