Woke up late and needed something for brunch. Our go to place in Sarasota has been the Blue Dolphin on St. Amand's circle. I searched for something new and the Toasted Mango came up 4 1/2 stars. I have passed this place many times and was finally able to make a stop in. We were greeted with a "sit wherever you are comfortable ". Buble was playing a bit loudly from the sound system. Not a quiet place for sure. The staff were pleasant and the decor was uplifting. I started with a glass of mango iced tea. The was not sweetend, but was refreshing. The BLT on Rye had great flavor. The addition of avocado really added to the taste. The bean salad was different, but had a great flavor. I tried my husband's pumpkin soup, and I have to say that it tasted like canned pumpkin that I would use for a pie. My one pet peeve is getting the check moments after the food is brought to the table. I really hate that, but otherwise I enjoyed my visit. read more

No matter what you feel about distancing or mask-wearing, this place has a chaos about it. I went inside and most people were bumping into one another and it was crowded and PACKED. There was no safety precautions going on and the families with kids running around and I got bumped into multiple times just trying to get my name on their waitlist. Again, beliefs aside, this place was a ZOO and management was just trying to wrangle the monkeys. I walked out after having to move through a sea of people that had no regard for themselves much less others. The waitress Logan ruined our experiece at the siesta key location and we will never return. When walking into the Cafe we were seated by a friendly hostess while looking over he menu the hostess stopped back over to our tables asking what we would like to drink and immediately returned with our drink order. We then sat and waited for our server who was talkimg with another table for 10 minutes. I finally asked for service and the lady from the back assisted us with our order. Logan never came to our table one time while we were there and kept walking past our table without acknowledging us we felt extremely uncomfortable. I did Express our experience with the lady who did serve us. Logan spent her time on her phone behind the bar with her back facing the customers. This absolutely was one of the worst experiences I have had with a server. This is unfortunate because the food was tasty. read more

We checked out of our hotel at noon yesterday but still wanted breakfast. The hotel parking valet recommended a small place next door that served breakfast. What a phenomenal surprise. It was a small, simple cafe on the outside but the food and service were the BEST! I can honestly say that we have never experienced a friendlier or more courteous staff. They all enjoy where they work and wear a real smile that shows it. You don't have a "server" -- you have a team who attend to your every need and check on you often to see if you need anything. Our coffee never got cold! My Spicy Sandi omelette was the best I have ever had anywhere. It was cooked to perfection, packed with goodies and had an amazing homemade salsa on the side. When my friends sang this places praises, I was skeptical. I've driven past the Toasted Mango nearly every day for something or another, and its appearance is very unassuming. It's nestled into a modestly sized building with a fairly small sign, so it's easy to miss if you don't know where to look. But boy do they blow you away. We had trouble finding parking because of the overwhelming amount of people waiting to eat there, and it wasn't because the service was slow or anything. They just have that many customers. Our wait time was about 30 minutes, and it really took about that time. Once it was our turn, we sat down and were immediately attended to. We got our drinks within minutes, and they took our order promptly. It took maybe 10 - 15 minutes and then our food was with us, which was astounding considering how packed the place was. My friends ordered the Waffle N' Eggs and the Fruit-topped waffle, while I ordered the Eggs Benedict with a bowl of fruit on the side. They both finished their waffles quickly, saying how great they were (I'll have to take their word, I'm not much for waffles) and I was tentative to try mine. Eggs Benedict is something extremely difficult to make well. The egg has to be cooked by an extremely competent chef too not be too well done (with a yolk that's hard as a rock) or too underdone (where it looks like someone hocked a loogie on your plate) and let me tell you, it was perfectly cooked. A nice runny yolk on each half of the (perfectly toasted) english muffin. The canadian bacon was alright, a little thick for my tastes, but still good. The only things in my meal that I can complain about are the potatoes served on the side. They were very dry, tough and flavorless. I would've preferred they just left those off. As for the fruit bowl, it was decent with fresh fruits (strawberries, melons, grapes, and ONE piece of pineapple) but there was some soggy cooked bacon bits at the bottom of the bowl? I'm not a vegetarian so I wasn't terribly offended, but if I was, I know I wouldn't have been too pleased. The waitstaff are all so friendly and make you feel genuinely welcomed. Will be returning to try out some more of their dishes. read more

The place isn't that good with a moderately full Restraurant all the commotion coming from the hostess stand you would of thought you were being seated at the Top of The Park in downtown New York. Numerous open tables sat empty while a dozen people waited outside. You might think they were short on wait staff but Nooo!!! This is my second time here at Sarasota and I couldn't pass up going to Toasted Mango Cafe again. This place is absolutely amazing. The times I have gone there is always a huge line waiting to be seated. But don't be discouraged! The wait is usually 20 mins or less and it is so worth it. First off, the service is absolutely amazing. Quick and nice servers are all throughout the restaurant. If you can't find your server right away another one would be glad to help you. The food. Okay, this place has the best. But I mean THE BEST French toast I have ever had. It leaves you wanting more. The menu has lots of options and the prices are great. You actually get more than what you pay for. Every dish has a side either home potatoes, fruits, grits, and the list goes on. This is a great cafe. This place is just average food. They hawk that their corned beef hash is homemade buy taste-wise, it is ok. Nothing great. Their touted homemade biscuits are one of the worst biscuits I've ever had. Dry, not buttery, no flavor and just plain dry. Pancakes have a chewiness to them which make them not very cakey. Omelette my hubby got it was overcooked and only the cheese in it saved it from being too dry. We have given this place a total of 3 tries over the years and will not return again. Try Sun Garden Cafe at Siesta key for a place who does it right. read more

Best french toast. They were very quick and very nice. A little crowded but we called ahead for seating.

This was one of those places we drove by and decided to stop at for brunch based on the crowd, and we're glad we did. The first thing you should know is that parking here is very, very tight. The lot is small, but there is street parking; just make sure you're respectful of the residents of the neighborhood, and a notice on the Mango's door warns that parking in the grass, blocking driveways, or parking facing the wrong direction on the street will invite the wrath of the SPD's parking enforcement. The Toasted Mango offers breakfast and brunch, and both are available throughout their operating hours. We stopped in for lunch, and even though the place was crowded, we were seated right away. We started with coffee (of course), and Toasted Mango makes a pretty decent cup. The menu offers a large offering of both breakfast and lunch items, and there were specials listed on a blackboard and our table. We stuck with breakfast foods for our first visit. My wife had the Sarasota omelette, with jack cheese, spinach, tomato, house-roasted turkey, and avocado. She went with home fries and whole-wheat toast as sides, The omelette was very good, especially in an area where "early bird specials" of simple, bland breakfast foods are typical. I opted for the Gulfside, an omelette with blue crab, gulf shrimp, spinach, tomatoes, and jack cheese. I stuck with the home fries, but went with with a house biscuit (with mango butter!) as my bread. The omelette was overflowing with hunks of crab and shrimp, which was great, but it actually overpowered all the other ingredients. For sure, you get what you pay for, but I'd have enjoyed getting more of the "farm-fresh egg" taste. The biscuit was perfect, and they cut it in half and toasted it. The mango butter was subtly sweet and fruity, but let the biscuit shine through. The potatoes in both our cases were just the way we like them, super crispy, just this side of burnt. Service was *SUPER* friendly and fast. Decor was simple, fun mix of locals and tourists. Conveniently close to the water and Siesta Key. read more

We drove out of our way for a Sunday breakfast based on the restaurant being highly recommended as her "go to" breakfast place. We arrived at 9am ish, and had to wait shortly outside for an inside table. To say the pace inside was frenetic would be an understatement - there appears to be lots of servers and they are all busy. Ours was no exception. Breakfast was on the table much quicker than either one of us expected. 2 eggs over easy -- turned into 2 eggs runny -- too runny for my taste. (Similar feedback from my companion). The sausage patties were good, and if you like mango, the mango butter was good as well. I've had better at lower prices with a bit less crazy activity. I found this place when I was browsing for places on Yelp before my trip. Turns out it is my boyfriend's mom favorite breakfast spot AND it was around the corner from our hotel. We went in for a sit down breakfast one morning. We all had coffee and I had an omelette. It was amazing and the proportions are huge. I had a potato pancake too but none of us liked it very much. Need more seasoning? Anyhow, did I mention the Blueberry Muffins. YOU NEED THEM IN YOUR LIFE. they are over sized, made with fresh blueberries, then cut in half and grilled. They come to you hot and toasty and just... omg heaven. Later in the trip we went and got a few to go and ate them in our room. We sat down & a couple minutes a waitress came up and bluntly asked if we knew what we wanted. We were both stunned that that's how we were greeted and we were not ready. So we asked for a few more minutes to look over the menu. She came back a few minutes later & we ordered. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with bacon, eggs & cheese on a biscuit which also came with home fries and a coffee. The coffee was ok but the sandwich was super dry and there were not that many home fries. Our server never came back to see if we needed anything. Ate there for the first time today. Food was good. Standard breakfast food with a Florida twist. Really enjoyed the toasted mango waffle. However, we were disappointed in some of the COVID safety measures and that will keep us from coming back any time soon. Masking just wasn't consistent, with some staff wearing them, some wearing below their nose, a manager wearing a small visor instead of a mask, and customers walking around inside maskless. What a little gem of a cafe!! I live just a few minutes from here, and can't believe today was my first time visiting. It certainly won't be my last! First, the food was SO delicious. I went with the Sarasota BLT on white bread with the 3-bean & mango salad as a side. The BLT was seriously the best I've ever had. And although I was a little skeptical of the 3-bean salad, it ended up being super flavorful and healthy. A win win all around considering my sandwich was the opposite of healthy. Second, the service was fabulous. We had a wonderful waitress who answered our questions about the menu and provided extremely prompt service. Our food was at our table in a matter of minutes after ordering. Hellooo fast and fresh! Third, if you are looking for a great decently priced smoothie spot, you've got to check this place out. My friend got the Elvis smoothie, which is a combo of peanut butter, banana, protein powder, cocoa powder, yogurt, and vanilla.
