Came in to toasted on a Wednesday afternoon. The restaurant was empty but I was promptly greed by a young lady who wore a mask. There was evidenced of social distancing throughout the store, however no one was in the restaurant to observe. Opted for the Barbacoa Melt which includes Jack & Cotija cheese, barbacoa braised beef, housemade cilantro chimichurri, pickled red onion, the sandwich was very tatsy. I did not care for the fries which recieved raving reviews on Yelp, but I found them to be over cooked and hard. Overall they have a good selection of items for a quick bite. My son wanted a plain grilled cheese. This version has 4 cheeses and sounds amazing. Surprisingly, it wasn't. I just didn't all meld together. What a cute little place! Obviously you gotta love cheese if you come here. But hey who doesn't love grilled cheese? Let me start off by saying the decor here is SO adorable. It is all cheesy!!! Literally the wall is cheese looking- and they have a periodic table with all the different types of cheese as well as how to pronounce them. Fun to look at while you are waiting for your food to come out- although they are pretty quick I must say! Their menu is very diverse. They take the simple idea of a grilled cheese and take it to extreme levels. From adding vegan cheese, BBQ pulled pork, chicken, barbacoa, and at least 10 different kinds of cheese, there's a sandwich for even the pickiest eaters. If you're not a grilled cheese fan (feel sry for u) they also have burgers and salads. I ordered the Truffle melt and substituted out one of 4 different cheeses for my favorite Havarti. It was to die for, one of the best grilled cheeses I've had! It was toasted perfectly (ha! get it?!) and wasn't greasy which I was afraid of! Be sure you order a side of their homemade tomato soup. I got the "dipper" and it was enough for me to use for every bite with my sandwich! Such a great idea. My boyfriend and I shared a side of the truffle fries- which are for sure sharable, there were plenty to go around! As I was trying to decide what to eat, I came across Toasted. From the pictures and the food descriptions, it looked good but I was still iffy about it. Either way I decided to go and let me tell you, I made the right choice! let's start off with Marc, he's the GM of the restaurant and he took our order. Nothing like a warm toasty melts sammy! This place has some great options and also include a decent burger menu. I opted for the barbacoa melt and loved it. There is a proportionate amount of meat to cheese which I find important in a "grilled cheese". The beat was tender and flavorful but what made it come together was the chimichurri. The flavors all came together very well. They also offer fries but not included with the sandwich. I found that a bit odd. I didn't necessarily want an entire basket of fries. The grilled cheese sandwich was toasted to a nice crispiness and was filled with gooey smoked Gouda, tender pulled chicken, flavorful roasted red peppers and savory garlic spinach. Toasted is a quaint little grilled cheese and burger joint, and I really, really wanted to like it more than I did. First off, hats off for having vegan options!!! Woot! Much appreciated. Things started off on a bad note, however, when the girl taking our order was totally vacant. We informed her we hadn't been there before and wanted some info on the vegan offerings and communication completely fell apart. Somehow or another, we wound up discussing two different menu items, the Bella burger and the vegan burger, and what was delivered to me was some kind of weird mashup? I don't know what happened. It still tasted good, but the whole process was overly complicated. Here's how it needs to be done. Listen up, Toasted peeps! Your vegan offerings should be such: 1) Order any sandwich off the menu and "make it vegan" by replacing with vegan cheese. 2) Order any burger off the menu and "make it vegan" by replacing with vegan cheese and vegan patty. Again, done! Of course this assumes the other ingredients on the sandwiches/burgers are also vegan, but a quick perusal of their menus suggests they are or at least, easily could be. Their heart and ingredients are in the right place, it's just their format that needs tweaking. Final quibble: I'd like to see more side offerings than fries, fries, mac 'n' cheese, and tomato soup. Toasted is almost great, but still needs a little work. Definitely worth a stop, though. read more

The sandwiches from here are so delicious!!! Omg!!! So tasty!! My favorite one has mac and cheese in it! I have never in my life tried sandwich with mac and cheese in it. Very juicy and perfectly seasoned to give the meat flavor! And the fries!! Delicious! If I remember correctly they are seasoned with truffle and rosemary. I never order the plain fries. My go-to restaurant in the UCF area! My boyfriend and I frequent Toasted a lot. I get the same thing almost all time time - The 101 (sans tomato) with a tomato soup dipper. It's the epitome of comfort food. I have tried other sandwiches (pesto chicken, blackberry melt, etc.) and they are also realllly good. I'm just a little bit of a plain Jane. My boyfriend switches it up quite a bit with no complaints - even some of the seasonal creations (the Thanksgiving one with turkey and gravy and all that fun stuff). I'm pretty sure the best part of all of the sandwiches is the bread. It's locally sourced artisan bread. It truly makes all the difference. I also give hats off to Toasted for having options for EVERYONE. I am not vegan or require gluten-free food, but I can imagine it is great for people who are. read more

I love a good grilled cheese. 4 stars because 7$ for a fancy grilled cheese doesn't sit right in my money-savvy broke college brain, but that is aside from the point. I've been waiting to try this place for awhile and being out of food at home due to the hurricane I decided to drop by. I've never been to a place that specializes in grilled cheese so I thought it would be worth a try. Walking into the restaurant, it is very new and fresh looking, with cheesy-themed decor, and quirky decorations like a periodic table of cheese. It's quick service, with just one cashier and food runners to bring you your sandwich. I ended up ordering the brisket sandwich and also a buffalo chicken sandwich, with a side of the rosemary fries. Although I thought the food was tasty and it arrived promptly, both sandwiches were cold on the inside. Also, the rosemary seasoning on the fries didn't really give the fries any additional taste. The restaurant should definitely incorporate a different way of heating the meats they have on hand, like a food warming oven with reusable teflon sheets. I may or may not be back because the concept is cool and I'm curious about the other menu items. But for now, I'm not amazed. read more

I have a gluten allergy so I ordered a burger on a gluten free bun. My burger unexpectedly came out on two slices of bread... The patty was clearly not fresh, but frozen meat. Also unexpected. We did find parking around back- but consider carpooling or ubering in order to avoid struggle. I was going to order The Big Cheese(4 cheeses) but last minute ordered the Fig & Goat(havarti and goat cheese, fig with honey and basil) ... my husband got the Barbacoa Melt with braised beef, pickled onions, jack and cojita cheese. We also ordered the rosemary fries (based on other Yelp reviews!) My sandwich was just okay... it was thin and sweet- almost desert like- I wish I would have ordered The Big Cheese-- I was craving something really cheesy - but I will have to try that one next time. My husbands was really hearty and had great flavor- loved the picked onions!! The fries were amazing- I just wish there was something to dip them in other than ketchup- ketchup kind of drowned out the flavor. I also tried the Hell or High Watermelon beer that they served in a frozen mug- it was crisp and refreshing. I had the Buffalo Chicken which is Muenster, house made buffalo cheese, pulled chicken with celery sticks and house-made blue cheese or ranch dressing. OUT OF THIS WORLD! It melted in my mouth. "A grilled cheese restaurant? Is this real?" - Well, rest assured, Toasted is real. And really good. I have an overwhelming affinity for anything that involves cheese and bread, with a grilled cheese sandwich being my staple. So I went to Toasted with pretty high standards and set my expectations low for that reason. I struggled with what to order as everything sounded really good - but I stayed relatively simple and went with "The Big Cheese". This bad boy packs cheddar, swiss, muenster, AND jack cheese in one sandwich, with arugula as well. The verdict? Perfection. The bread was buttered and toasted the perfect amount, the cheese to bread ratio was just right, and the arugula was a surprisingly nice addition. I also ordered the plain salted fries and they were crispy and delicious. But the sandwich was the real star of the show here. This location is brand new, so the cashier was training someone when I ordered. Service was still excellent, and the restaurant was spotless. I got the 'As Gouda As it Gets' that's had pulled chicken, melty gooey smoked Gouda, with roasted red peppers, and garlic spinach. With a side of garlic roasted tomato soup dipper. Perfect combination and absolutely delicious Boyfriend got the 'Braised Brisket', that has Fontina, braised brisket, housemade BBQ sauce, and sweet tea caramelized onions. With a side of fiery Mac & Cheese that had Sriracha and jalapeños, spicy and creamy Mac. Service was perfect, very attentive. They bring your order out to you and you do not have to worry about cleaning up. The decor is simple, cute, and clean. With a giant Periodic Table of Cheese on the wall! I have been wanting to try this place out for a year or so but I don't live in the area. I finally stumbled upon one on my way to another restaurant and said no.... I have to try Toasted. I was dead set on getting some crazy gourmet grilled cheese until I realized... they have burgers! I got the SWEET HEAT and they were able to cook that to perfection for me (medium rare) the caramelized pineapple paired with the housemade sriracha BBQ sauce gave it the perfect sweet and savory flavor. Got the Tuscan salad and it was great, however there were more toppings than greens which was a little disappointing, I did get the side salad size though so maybe that's why. The location is right in a popular plaza with other hot spots for dining, down the street from UCF. I visited this location when it first opened. Unfortunately, I never returned again but decided to finally leave a review for that visit. At first impression, the location had a nice vibe. The workers were quick and attentive and tried to seat us as quickly as possible but still struggled in using the POS. I don't blame this on them but more on the machine probably being confusing. Following ordering, my burger arrived in a reasonable time and was a nice temperature along with the fries being just right. It wasn't until I bit in that it went downhill. Upon first bite I noticed something wrong. I couldn't put my finger on it but I knew it wasn't right. 3 bites into the burger I started noticing the taste being off and finally a harsh flat finish. When I opened the burger top I was shocked to see that the white paper that holds the burger patty was still intact and cooked onto the meat. I bit into this bread a few times before I could notice it to say something. I gave up on my burger and gave the host a heads up. They offered a remake but my appetite was too far gone. They gave me a card for the following visit but I didn't keep this card as I didn't see myself coming back. The location had nice tasting food but the attention to detail was lacking. All in all, if you want a good burger this location is well worth a shot. Just make sure you keep a pen handy. read more
