Mac was the best! Clearly very learned in his wine knowledge and customer service. I cannot recommend Mac enough for your wine tasting!

My boyfriend & I live in Fresno and wanted to go wine tasting but didn't want to drive all the way to Napa! So, for the first time, we made the short drive to the Madera Wine Trail. We made a few stops and Toca Winery was by far my favorite. Immediately walking in we were greeted by a friendly staff and a beautiful scenery. It was slow due to it probably being a Sunday, but we enjoyed wine tasting outside on the patio. So relaxing! NOTE: all of their wine is phenomenal! We ended up buying a bottle of each type of wine that we tasted. Bottles are decent priced too. Nicole & Joseph, who were working at the time of our trip were knowledgable and very attentive! I've visited almost all the wineries in the area and I'd have to say, this one was by far the worst experience. We came to celebrate a birthday, a group of 10 ladies and we felt unwelcome. We walked in, staff looked up and glared, awkward silence in the room, no hello but greeted with "do you have reservations?" We said no but bday girl really wanted to stay for pics. We sucked it up and stayed for her. We got glasses and bottles. They told us that we couldn't sit at any of the tables because they were reserved... I highly doubt it but whateves; we stood and walked around. There were only 5 other guests there. We still made the best of our company. Bought more bottles and left to have a blast elsewhere. This winery may have a policy about reservations but we didn't know about it and there was no private event... but maybe having a sign that says "reservations only" would help customers right when they get to the door. Most of the wines were meh. Just a few good ones (thought about buying more bottles to stock up at home to entertain guests but didn't want to continue dropping more $$$ to support a business with bad service). My girls asked if I'd considered this as an option for my wedding venue, I said "no chance". I recommend going to Fäsi, Solitary Cellars, and Quady for great service. Come here if you'd like to be poorly treated. read more

1,000 reasons to celebrate but, we were NOT given the opportunity to celebrate at Toca Madera. After an eventful month my friends and I decided to go on a relaxing enjoyable wine tasting experience. We wanted to celebrate our newly weds, engagements, expecting mothers, BA/MA graduates and of course the first timers that were so thrilled to encounter the wine world. We were so glad last minute a lot of our friends did make time out of their busy schedules to spend some quality time together. The adult life has many of us busy and edges us into attending events last minute. From only 6 of us celebrating a wonderful 8 more were able to make a reservation for the same time, wow we got lucky we thought, we were able to celebrate together after all! As we arrived the place was beautiful and we could not wait for some fun. When our groups of friends finally confirmed they were near from their 1 1/2 hour drive we were ready to celebrate. As I entered the building I heard Phill carelessly saying "we will NOT accommodate you guys." Courtney said "your cheating the system." I was speechless and I questioned did I reserve at the wrong winery? No, they simply accused our friends and I of being crooked. They repeatedly said those phrases as if we did not have any sense of comprehension and lacked communication skills. We politely asked we wish to sit separately in our two reservations we originally planned. They excused us from the winery and told us our business was not needed. I turned back and asked may we at least have a refund? Yes. They again repeated their two phrases. While outside we all were speechless at how rude their customer service was to us and we decided never to come again as we don't recommend a negative environment for anybody who wants to have fun. We were so upset our celebrations couldn't take place as planned but little did we know we were about to have the best experience just 10 mins away. One of our friends called Fäsi Winery, they gladly accommodated our large group of friends as they said "better for us, come on over in 20 mins!" We bought over $250 of wine had an amazing experience and a wonderful evening at Fäsi, NOT Toca Madera. We recommend anybody to Fäsi, they appreciate and care for their customers. Thank you Fäsi for making us stay in the wine world. We hope to never face that terrible experience again Phill and Courtney inflicted upon us. read more

Enjoyed wine tasting here. It's a such a beautiful winery. They were prepping for an evening wedding when I went. Wine tasting is either $5 or $7 depending on the list you want to try. The workers were rude and unwelcoming. San Joaquin winery is much better and $10 cheaper!!! One one the workers here at Toca came to the front while my friends and I were taking pictures and questioned us on if we had paid or not, of course we did!!!! Each of the wines had no flavor and tasted like straight up rubbing alcohol. Not worth it and not worth having rude wait staff to ruin your experience. Don't waste your time here. read more

Toca Madera Winery has a beautiful back patio. It is a hidden gem in Madera just 10 minutes away from River Park in Fresno. I highly recommend stopping out there on a weekend for a wine tasting. They have multiple different varietals to be able to please everyones pallet. Some of their wines scored in the 90s on the points scale. A 94 and a 91 which is very impressive. read more

So, I grew up about an hour from madera and had no idea that they had a wine trail. Which now makes me feel dumb because the vineyards are literally everywhere! After moving to the Bay Area I became quite the wine enthusiast living so close to Napa. So when I heard about the madera wine trail I thought it would be kind of cool to invite my sister and niece to taste a few wines since they've never been. When we first pulled up I was like ummmm is this someone's house once we walked into the building and saw the back view of the vineyard I was in awe. It truly is an amazingly beautiful property. This is probably the only property that kind of resembled the wineries in Napa. I especially loved the price. It was $20 for all of us and it actually goes towards your wine purchase so already it's a great deal! They had some really interesting flavors like the grapefruit one. I'm usually not a fan of grapefruit but it actually wasn't too bad. The rose was cool although a little bitter but the other 2 were eh. One thing I did appreciate is that I spoke with our server about my sister and niece preferring sweeter wines so he let us try their moscato and sangria as well. My niece loves those 2 and picked up a bottle of each. Still, I wasn't really that impressed with the wine selection. The rating is simply for the wine selection. The property is beautiful and I'm glad I got to take a peek at it because I had been eyeing it for a wedding party venue and it was just as beautiful as I expected. read more

It saddens me to write this review as I love to support local. This winery is local for me and my friends. Three of us attended a Mother's Day yoga class here with our favorite teacher. The class was wonderful! Included in the cost of the event was a wine tasting. My two friends and I are in our 60's , avid yogis and wine lovers. We shared a table with 6 young women celebrating a birthday in addition to the class and tasting. Our pours, all three of us, were consistently smaller than our table mates and tables round us. One of our group even purchased wined which I didn't see anyone else doing. Hard to understand why we were poured less wine, but we all felt slighted. While our teacher will likely return to Toca Winery for more events, none of us will. And the quality of the wine? I won't be recommending it other other wine friends. Enough said. read more

The positives for this winery are the very tasty wine and the friendly staff in the tasting room. That is why it is such a shame that everything else about this place was such a disappointment. Basically, enjoy a tasting a few weekends a year and just avoid it completely when looking for an event venue. We booked a wedding a year and a half in advance, with a $1000 deposit. 6 months later we find out the wedding coordinator is no longer with the company, the date she booked for us is absolutely not available, and she provided company made pamphlets with the wrong pricing (via email, in writing). We were willing to change the date of our wedding with the idea that there should be a discount for their mistake, however the owner then said since she had quoted us an outdated price, the discount he would give us was to honor the price we had been quoted. In the end, I think because he knew they were completely in the wrong, he refunded our deposit. Which tells me the owner of that business does not believe his customers are the reason he has a successful business as he could have just given a fair discount for our inconvenience of moving the date of our wedding after we'd been planning it for 6 months and that would have made things right. Instead he refunded a $1000 deposit for an event that could have made him $2000 plus at least $1000 in wine. read more

Words cannot begin to express my disappointment with Toca Madera Winery as a wedding venue. My husband and I fell in love with Toca when we toured it as a possible venue not only for it's incredible scenic views, but also the convenience of the location. Upon arriving the day of my wedding, one of the staff was parked in one of the very few handicap spots available. I asked if someone could move the car as one person in my wedding party is in fact in a wheelchair, and that we would need the space not only for her, but to also make it convenient for vendors to drop off things that they needed to set up. When I asked nicely if they car could be moved before 11am, I was met with attitude, and the car was still in the parking spot by 2pm, which I found to be incredibly rude and inconsiderate. I specifically asked when booking, as well as when I did my wine tasting, that guests not be served alcohol until cocktail hour, as I did not want guests bringing wine glasses to the ceremony and potentially break one, and that there be a cut off limit because I was worried about people making it home safely. I was assured that not only would they not serve alcohol until after the ceremony, but that they would absolutely have a cut off limit, as they would be held liable should anything happen with someone getting home safely. Not only was wine immediately served to guests when they started to arrive at 4pm, but I ordered enough wine for 85 people, only 60 people showed up, and I came home with less than a case of wine - meaning they were overserving the wine. By the time cocktail hr finished, most everyone was beyond drunk. I was also told when I signed my contract that I would exclusivity to Toca for my wedding and my guests from 4pm to 11pm, as they were doing wine tastings until 4pm, which was not a problem. However, when I walked out to take pre-wedding photos around 4:15, there was a massive charter bus blocking most of the parking and the bus belonged to another wedding party that decided to come use the venue for their wedding photos. To say I was appalled would be an understatement. The people who crashed my wedding site, to my knowledge, were never addressed by anyone at Toca Madera Winery, whereas my wedding planner and photographers asked them to leave multiple times. They were still there taking photos when my ceremony started. The other wedding party not only blocked access to parking for my guests, and made it harder for them to get to my ceremony in a timely manner, they also made it impossible for my photographers to use certain areas because they refused to leave. The fact that Toca not only allowed this to happen,, but also did not address it AT ALL is infuriating. I would give them 0 Stars if I could. Do not get married here. The only positive thing is they make great wine. Other than that, don't waste your time trying to plan a wedding here. read more

Wonderful Winery experience...it really could have been a Napa winery it was that good! We bought 3 bottles and our cousin visiting from Texas bought 4(shipped to her house for free). Classy place with employees that know their stuff. I love that the winery maker is more concerned about the taste than the look of the wine. An added plus was his wines were a little different from everyone else's in a good way. We bought the Moscoto and the Dulce Vida..so yummy! I would totally visit again and buy more wine! Reservation process online was super easy! I was able to make one the same day I visited. It was a great deal$20 for tasting (for me and my date) and then we could apply that $$ to the purchase of a bottle of wind (we bought 2!). The views are beautiful and the staff was very kind and accommodating. It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon and the wine was fantastic! Here for a wedding reception and the venue was beautiful but the management was the issue. Constantly had problems with the lighting and power. We brought it up with the management but they didn't help us out at all. Toca Winery was not prepared for the following Marie Wilson's beautiful voice brings. One server, good luck getting your wine, (pricey too). I was the designated driver, unfortunately they had no bottled water for DD's. I had to drink tap water from the bathroom faucet. The reception party was to begin at 5:30 pm and the venue lost power at 5:00 pm. No staff member was able to get in touch with a manager and nothing was done for the power. The DJ had to run his generator to power the entire venue. We asked the owner for a refund as his staff working that night and a manager we complained to the next day told us to. The manager said this has occurred once or twice before and they believed the owner would give a refund since the venue was not able to provide any power for the entire night. We contacted the owner and he was hostile creating false reports of making a mess and blaming our string lights for causing the entire venue to run out of power. Our decorator and DJ both contacted the venue telling him that the venue was clean and there was no power except from the DJ's generator, but the owner refuses to cooperate. This is a scam business, very unprofessional. Look elsewhere. read more

My husband and I loved this venue for our wedding. It is beautiful. Though we had heard some negative press that they were unorganized and not ready to accommodate weddings, we decided to give them the green light anyways. We felt confident that our coordinator and the site coordinator could handle keeping everything organized! The day of my wedding, the site coordinator promised me a few things... she would be there by 2pm to make sure things were in order, promised table and chair set up from their staff, promised lights strung in the trees, closing the venue by 3pm for a private event, which was stated on the door and on their facebook page the same day. The owner and his wife were present that day taking care of guests coming in for tastings and not once offered to help with my concerns as my bridal party, including myself all scrambled to get things done. This in turn delayed my ability to get ready and get the bridal party ready to take photos! The groom and his party had to go assist with set up, forgoing their limo drive to the winery!!! Toca's coordinator did not show up till 4PM!!! She NEVER APOLOGIZED, nor did the owner! They allowed guests to taste wine till 4pm and was upset that the I, the bride, was trying to close the doors to complete set up! Where was their coordinator??? The venue was very unorganized, over-priced and I don't feel we were given the customer service a paying bride and groom deserves. I also heard from multiple guests/family members that the bar tender was very rude, condescending and talked behind my back because I asked him to move the bar outside, which was arranged in our contract. There were a couple instances that guests wanted to get another glass of wine and the bar tender didn't pay any attention to them so they poured their own wine, then were scolded by that bar tender to not do that again! All in all, i will not recommend this venue ever to anyone for an event. The communication was few and far between with the coordinator and owner when we needed answers. It was absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable! Our wedding was gorgeous and our guests had a great time, but it wasn't because of Toca's accommodations. read more
