I wasn't much of a fan for the berry barbecue sauce though. Fun to try but I think I am a regular barbecue sauce kind of girl. One of the best meals we've had in long while. the servers were fast and efficient. the vibes are kind of "Chipotle of Native Cuisine" but make no mistake this is some of the most delicious soul food! The meal my son and I shared from Tocabe the other night was memorably delicious. We got the grilled chicken bowl with pinto beans and quinoa and a side of fry bread, I was impressed by the portion size- there was enough for both of us plus a little leftover. I really like it here. I'm been a fan of fry bread since moving to the southwest for school in the early 2000s. Having been all over AZ and NM I knew I had to try this here. It's kind of like a chipotle/qdoba assemble line but with fry bread to put it. The other meat I like a lot is bison meat. Why because it's leaner and doesn't have a gamey taste. I've had fry bread as a big fluffy taco to smaller burger bun style but never had it stuffed like here. So I got the stuffed fry bread with shredded bison. Choice of beans are black, chili or pinto. So I got black. Only the choice of meat and beans are put into the stuffed fry bread, topping choices are on top after it gets fried. I got the corn mix and of course my other favorite green chili's. It was really good, something different and something I'd eat more often than other fast food places. Meat was good like shredded beef, bread was perfect with that fluffy chewy texture and the toppings just added to the greatness. The side salad that's also included just lighten things up. If you never had fry bread you need to try it! read more

I visited Denver for a conference and wow I've never had anything like Tocabe. The place is similar to Chipotle where you are able to make your own taco or bowl based on the selection of meat and toppings. The bison was not gamey at all and we had both the ground bison, shredded bison, and the ribs! The ribs came with a berry BBQ sauce that I was in love with given the unique taste. It also came with these bread like doughnuts that were so chewy and airy & tasted great with the sauce!! The green chile was also a different taste with a more earthy scent without being too salty that I enjoyed! This place is a definite must when you are in Denver. read more

Wow, never been to this location. Super busy on a Sunday around 2. with a constant line out the door. Turned out the Pow Wow didn't have fry bread. The food was as amazing as I remembered from my first visit. The hominy topping is so delicious. I ordered a ground beef Indian taco. YUM!!!! The fry bread is delicious!! After hearing sooo many good things about Tocabe, I only regret that it took me this long to finally try it! My husband and I decided to order Tocabe to-go one Friday night around 7 PM. B/c we ordered to-go, we didn't get to hang out inside or anything, but the interior is super nice and it was packed on Friday! The line was nearly out the door, which I was not expecting at all. Luckily, because we ordered ahead of time, our meal was out very quickly. The guys at the counter were super friendly and thanked us for our patience (even though we only had to wait like 3 minutes). The whole drive home, the smells were toooo good. I couldn't wait to dig into my Indian Taco. I ordered the Fancy Indian Taco w/ Bison & my husband ordered a build-your-own Indian Taco w/ chicken. The flavors of our dishes were amazingly different, even though we selected similar toppings. Both were SO good - truly some of the most flavorful takeout I've had! It's been so long since we've been to Tocabe! My husband stopped by to get carry out when we realized one of our fav restaurants nearby was closed on a Saturday night. It was so big I was able to get a second meal out of it. The fry bread warmed up pretty well in the oven so that worked out nicely for my lunch the next day. Like many others I've heard great things about Tocabe, so when I was in the neighborhood after my chiropractor appointment the other day around lunchtime I knew it was meant to be. Luckily for me another man did try to get in and looked like an eager beaver and I was thankful it wasn't me. You wouldn't believe how many people were lining up though. Like by the time I got out of my car after they unlocked the doors I was like behind 3 groups of people. Crazy! Goes to show they know what they're doing. Anyways as it was my first time In I knew I wanted something with fry bread, so I asked if they recommended the Indian taco or stuffed fry bread. They mentioned it is pretty much the same thing but with different delivery. The taco having all the toppings open face on top of the fry bread vs the stuffed fry bread where they were inside. I opted for stuffed thinking it would be less messy. Over all very good flavor, I went with chicken. I love the option for toppings. I have to say their hot tomato, which looks kind of like a salsa is amazing. Packs a nice little punch. I think it was the Hominy that brought a bit of sweetness that I'll be honest I didn't love but luckily the hot tomato balanced that out nicely. Next time I will be passing on the hominy and probably going double hot tomato. Yum. All In all it was quite tasty, and a massive portion. I was not able to finish the meal, which is surprising given I am very hungry right now, so great value. I'll definitely be back to try the bison. read more

This place was very welcoming, and it was sort of an Indian Fried Bread Chipotle. The decor is filled with really cool artifacts, that all come back to the culture/heritage. I got the ground beef stuffed fry bread, but the meat had a different flavor than I was expecting, and it got so soggy so fast, it got underwhelming very quickly. All of the teenagers working were very sweet and it was the best part of the meal. We got the Wojapi with fry bread, and heads up the berry sauce is not for everyone! Love the concept of bringing fast casual to Native American food. Service has always been great with helpful suggestions on what to order. Flavors have good on all their proteins with a variety of toppings to choose from (squash, salsas, corn, etc). They also stock Bow & Arrow beer which is my favorite native owned brewery in ABQ.
