I never thought I would write a review for a funeral home, but after the way Todd memorial handled my fathers passing I felt compelled to. Brian with Todd memorial was an absolute gem. He was calm, sensitive to my situation and patient with me. My father passed when I was only 23 years old and I was his only family in the state, so I was feeling alone and unsure of how to handle everyone. Brian helped walk me through the entire process. He gave me all the options, pricing, was honest and just over all incredibly nice. Losing a loved one is hard, but he made the process easier. I cannot thank him enough. read more

I was there for a dear friends viewing then next day service when they gave me and everyone there very nice welcome, courtesy and helpful. They provide video and audio for the service, have a water fountain and on signs says no food or drinks allowed inside. read more

I was very disappointed in the treatment of my husband's body at Todd Memorial Chapel.  When my husband passed away, Todd Memorial Chapel handled the open casket memorial service and storage of the body.  The memorial service met our expectations. However, a few days after the service, when I went to see my husband one last time, I noticed my husband's face looked "broken". The bony structure on the bridge of his nose and the cheekbone area looked "crushed" like he had been in an accident or battle. I asked what happened and everyone I spoke to was evasive and wanted to pass the blame elsewhere. Finally I was told that a large cardboard box fell on him. However, "cardboard" cannot cause such damage.  This was very traumatic for our family to see. My husband, a man who treated everyone with the utmost respect all his life, was carelessly and disrespectfully handled before he was laid to rest.  When we are born, loving arms welcome us to the world.  When we die, we expect care and dignity as we are laid to rest. Todd Memorial Chapel was recommended by Holy Name of Mary (HNM) and I cannot thank them enough for their recommendation. We were not prepared for my mother's sudden passing and was at lost not knowing where to start. My parish HNM was the first people I reached out to in planning the services. They asked me if I had a memorial chapel in mind already and had said no as I had not decided which chapel to choose from my online research. They had recommended Todd's and spoke highly of their service and that many of the parishioners had used their services as well. Well, they were awesome. Brian was great to work with as he was empathetic, understanding, patient, and just overall great. We were really worried that we would not be able to give my Catholic mother the tradition service with Covid-19 and all. With its limitation of social distancing and viewing rules of the LA county/CA policy, it was hard giving my Mama the traditional service but with Brian's assistance, we were able to give her more than we expected despite the Covid-19 rules. The staff was professional and kind and made the planning of my Daddy's service a little bit easier to deal with. Though my sisters and my hearts were heavy it was truly a blessing to work with such nice people. John Todd was so professional while going over pricing with us. Although people come here during possibly the worst time in their lives, it's nice to work with a place that is professional. When we had my dad's viewing, we were expecting one of the smaller viewing rooms, but when we arrived we had the big room, John said that it was available so he gave it to us, which was a nice surprise. I've attended several memorials and funerals at Todd's, including my fathers which was 23 years ago. Recently a dear friend passed away and the services were at Todd's. The service the family received from beginning to end was NOT good. There were several mix ups and misinformation given to the grieving family. There was a private viewing for the family the night before the funeral which was beyond belief. Evidently their beloved ones body was far from what it should have been. I will not go into what happened as its horrible. Needless to say the elder Todd's, who have since passed provided a wonderful service in the most difficult time in ones life. We lost our sister the beginning of this month and from day one they would constantly be in touch since we live out of state. We communicated with rudy via email for the entire process. Yesterday Auguest 25,2019 we had our sisters service and i didnt get the gentlemans name but he was excellent he explained everything to us and whenever we had a question he was always very helpful. The gentleman even let my sisters sons say the final goodbye even past the scheduled time. Today when my sister was cremated it was the same guy and again very friendly and informative. Eventhough i didnt get his name i do hope he gets some type of recognized for the great service he provided my family and I during this hard time. read more

Recently attended a dear family members service here. The staff was very attentive and made the service honorable and beautiful.

My comadre's brother's service was here! It was a nice place we had standing room only and it was just peaceful and no agenda just an open service! The gentleman who facilitated the service said a poem at the end which added a nice touch to the completion of the service! It was cool and comfortable inside even with so many people there! I had my Mom's funeral service done here at the Pomona last February 18, 2018. The staff were very nice and attentive . Courtney was okay in assisting us with the funeral arrangements. He made it easier for us to understand the breakdown of the bill. He was helpful in making suggestions because this was the first time I experienced a death in my family. I can also say that their prices is very reasonable compared to other funeral places. Although he was helpful, my phone number he gave to the officiating priest was wrong. That mistake was a cause of delay in organizing our program and never had a chance to meet with the priest. We were left to discuss everything on the phone and rushed to Kinkos to print the program on the spot! ( only 2 days before the funeral ). Special mention to Lily, Joel Diaz and Mitchell( Mitch )Todd! They were all very nice and helpful . But Mitch Todd was the most helpful of them all. He was respectful, helpful, obedient and an overall nice guy! He assisted us during the funeral service in every possible way! I'm giving this guy an A + ! Thank you Mitch!!! I agree with Bonnie, it is difficult to rate a funeral home.........that being said......the home is overshadowed by the huge church next door. The parking is limited , so use the church next door. The interior is beautiful with intricate painting. The seating is small and intimate. read more

It has taken me awhile to write this review. I did not know at the time we made arrangements to ask if Todd contracted out. I didn't even know what that meant until a frightening man showed up with an ancient gurney to transport my father. A Korean War veteran, to the mortuary. My father was not a large man, but the family was asked to assist lifting and moving him. As if we were not traumatized enough, he was placed in an old dumpy van with horrible squealing breaks. The final blow was that he had to share the ride!! Yes there was another deceased man in the van! I wonder if his family knew about the horrifying van pool? I met with Todd and they removed the pick up fee. Wow. I'm still damaged by the images in my mind, not to mention his grandchildren that were asked to carry their Grandfather out. I wrote them a letter and I guess they threw it away. As I didn't even get a response. read more

The director of this place is great. The receptionist? Not so much. In person she is friendly, over the phone she is rude and cannot provide answers to the simplest questions. They don't allow payments which (in my opinion) is ridiculous considering how expensive the process runs. read more

Todd Memorial Chapel (Pomona location) made a very emotional and difficult time a little easier in dealing with the details and arrangements of planning a funeral. Brian Pewe assisted me in making decisions for my fathers burial and transport to Riverside National Cemetary, Brian was so kind and considerate, NEVER trying to take advantage during such a vulnerable time by up-selling me services I did not need. (I've had this happen to me before at another establishment), he answered all of my questions and was concerned that I understood every service and charge. This funeral home is family operated and its definitely reflected in the service, compassion and care their employees take in helping you make decisions for your loved ones funeral. I never thought that I'd be needing a funeral home's services for years to come. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Upon arrival I was welcomed by a friendly staff that guided me and help me and my family make good decisions based on our needs. Given the large family that I have, we needed the chapel for my dad's viewing (instead of the small rooms). I must say that once everything was set up the morning of the viewing... the chapel was beautiful. It was large enough to hold us all, a total of about 150+ people. From the lighting, to the seating of the immediate family, and flowers... everything was done for us and beautifully planned. The pricing was also significantly less than other newer places, but honestly, this was the most beautiful funeral I've been. I have been to places that have been shady and not felt comfortable to mourn the loss of a loved one. Thank you Todd Memorial Chapel for being a solid place, you've got a returning customer in me (although, I hope it doesn't happen often). read more

Upon arriving the Pomona property in order to make arrangements for a Claremont service, I witnessed a prostitute negotiating a deal with a motorist. The mortuary staff made light of the situation and treated it as normal or common. This was not the best first impression. We tried to work with the mortuary staff to fulfill our funeral through financing we set up. This mortuary's staff was completely unwilling to do a little paperwork and help our family at our time of need. The mortician Keith was rather cold and had a push off attitude. After absorbing this, I'd rather he not touch my loved one. read more

Todd Memorial Chapel provided service for other family members and friends in the past years but it wasn't until recently when I had to face the difficult task of my father's funeral did I understand everything that was needed. My family members and I first met Brian. He explained everything and was so patient with my mother who can't hear very well. At no time did I ever feel obligated to purchase additional services or merchandise like flowers, crucifix, printed materials or even the casket. I mentioned I was ordering the casket from another vendor and felt no pressure from him. He make it clear they provided merchandise as a convenience but we were welcome to purchase elsewhere if we liked. After going home and looking elsewhere I found their prices reasonable and ordered everything thru them except the casket. Brian and everyone else at Todd was so accommodating in every way leading up to the services. Joel was the person in charge of services both days. When we arrived for the Rosary and viewing with boards of pictures, he quickly asked how many easels we needed and after they were set up, he carefully moved flowers hidden behind the easels out where they could be seen. On the day of the funeral, he assured me cards I had left at Todd's to be place in my father's casket were taken care of by him. He was professional in every way. Our motorcycle escorts were no different. Since my father's casket was covered with the American flag, they saluted the casket while it was loaded onto the hearse. On the way to the cemetery, the procession was twice interrupted by freight trains. Our escorts held everyone up until we were all together again. I couldn't have asked for better service. read more
