A good Korean restaurant that also offers Korean BBQ as well. And their grilled tofu is excellent. I was specifically in the mood for seafood pancake (Hae Mul Pa Jun). Unfortunately it had an overwhelming amount of tough chewy squid in the pancake without a single shrimp in site. And it dominated the pancake and wasn't binding together well, so I began avoiding those chunks and the remainder of the pancake was good. We also had Bulgogi in both hot plate and hot pot styles (since I'd never tried the latter). Both were nicely and identically flavored, with the hot pot in a sweeter broth with glass noodles. The banchan had excellent variety and the meal portions were good and we took home leftovers. Service was attentive and drink refills were prompt. Seating was comfortable and they did ask us to move to a different table after being seated. This was as a kindness since the adjacent table was a BBQ table and being fired up for a party and they didn't want us to suffer from the initial smoke. read more

We love coming here right when they open! Just before the lunch crowd comes. We usually get seated first, parking is never a problem. They get all sorts of crowds. Groups in their lunch break, families, couple on a date, and even solo. I come here for their tteokbokki. They make it just right and I love the noodles it comes with and fish cake. A few things to note: 1. If you want a table with kBBQ grill, ASK for it, but plan for all of not most of your party to order kBBQ. 2. The service isn't bad, it's just different. 3. They give great banchan (Korean side dishes) and will refill as you ask. 4. If you want kBBQ, do not order just one dish. Order at least 2 or they'll get annoyed with you. Instead you can order most of the stuff on the kBBQ menu but already cooked. If you do that, the meat comes with lettuce leaves and a few sauces (one peanuty sauce and another sort of sweet chile sauce), which you can wrap the meat in. Most of the negative reviews about this place are because of the service, and I think it's mostly because Americans aren't used to service from other cultures. There are certain expectations for how much to order/eat, and an understanding that waiters are here to feed you and that's it, in places like Korea, that aren't as common in America. The waiters were never rude, they were just to the point, unsmiling, serious, and of few words. We did hear from our waitress that some of the owners can be stingy, but she happily refilled drinks, banchan, and gave us extra kimchi to take home. Here's what I tried: -Bulgogi: 7/10 - It was good, just not the most flavorful. I've had better bulgogi, and it also wasn't piping hot. I also think the marinade could've been better, but it was bulgogi, it was good, and there was quite a bit of it. -kBBQ (precooked) Galbi: 9/10 - I adored their Galbi. It was hot, the special sauce on it was sweet, salty, and umami, and the meat itself was tender, well cooked, and had a bit of a chew to it. Came here with my family on a weekday. It was cold and rainy so we were craving some Korean stews and soups. We use to live on Buford Hwy and had plenty of options there. That being said the food here was very well-made but the ingredients are a bit cheap. We ordered the seafood pancake, tofu soup with beef, and a beef stew (I forgot the original name). The pancake was crispy and delicious but barely had any seafood. It had about 5 octopus tentacles, I kid you not. My tofu soup was very flavorful, very comforting but it had like 3 pieces of beef in the entire soup. The beef soup was delicious, no complaints there. In regard to the food, we didn't mind coming back here seeing how it was a quiet quaint location with flavor at least. However we will not be coming back due to the stiff service we received. The lady who serviced us was an older slender woman and we could not help but noticed there was an air of annoyance about her when she dealt with us. We have young kids so I guess she wasn't thrilled. She was very short whenever we asked for anything and we noticed she was not this way with the other tables. This gotta be top 10 worst places I've ever been to. I ordered Tteokbokki and Bulgogi, because I planned on taking what I didn't eat home. Lady looked at me and said "a lot of food for just you" ok?? In itself the comments not that bad, but the service was horrible. I didn't get checked up ONCE during my visit here and I sat waiting for her to come back for a check, and she didn't walk over till I grabbed my own to go boxes. It sucks having to give this place a 1 star after all of this time because the food is good, but I can't deal with the poor customer service anymore. I just came to pick up my order not too long ago. When I arrived and gave my name, they stated that they accidentally gave my order to someone else that had the same first name as my last name. I understand mistakes happen so it sucked but I was completely understanding. They were going to quickly remake mine when the customer that accidentally took my order came back since he realized the mistake. They immediately tried to give this order back to me, but I expressed my concern about it being unsanitary since it was most likely opened already by the customer and not sure what else. The hostess proceeded to argue with me to try to convince me to just take the order when one of the staff came by and stated that they'll just remake it. I waited about 10 minutes and they gave me my order. I fully believe that they just waited that same period of time until they handed me the same order they accidentally gave away because the jjajjangmeyon I ordered was completely lukewarm at this point. I previously had a bad experience when I picked up an ordered a few weeks ago as well and just thought it was an off night so I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. However, this one takes the cake. I don't intend on coming back even though I love the food there, but I seriously question their practice and service skills. We stumbled in this place from Uber eats instead of Yelp. I think they suffered a lot during the pandemic but adjusted to do more home deliveries, and they managed to stay open. CHARCOAL BBQ I'm so glad they did because i didn't know that they have charcoal bbqs! We are always on th hunt for good charcoal Korean bbq and trekking to Duluth for 9292 was getting to be insane. The westside has its own little place and we are here for it! GALBI We got the galbi and it comes with all sides, salad and sauces. It is not all you can eat, so I'll just order the Galbee dish for one person. It is quite expensive, around $25, but they are pretty generous on the meat. BULGOGI The bulgogi comes the same way as the Galbee, but I think I prefer the Gabi a lot more because it was marinated and was full of flavor. The Bulgogi is not marinated, and was a bit of a drier meat. TOFU STEW WITH BEEF AND VEGGIES Soft tofu soup was so good, spicy, flavorful, and just warms your stomach. This is a must get here. The place seems to be run by old Korean ladies, and they are also your servers. They come often to cook your meat, cut them for you and almost serve you like an old Korean mom should. read more

I know I leave mostly 5 star reviews these days, but there's honestly no reason to do anything less! Tofu Village offers a wide variety of Korean dishes (stews, meats, rice and noodle options, etc.) and good banchan on the side. The dining room is dark and sultry with a couple TVs and outdoor seating seemed to be available, too, probably for busier times. I passed the restaurant over day and noticed the Korean on the sign and knew I had to hit this spot up on the way home that day. My daughters and I loved the jajangmyun and dolsot bibimbap. I wanted to order way more, but this ended up being plenty of food to feed us with leftovers to take home! Jajangmyun is a dish of soft chewy noodles in a thin-ish black bean-based sauce mixed with some beef and veggies. I haven't found it in many Korean restaurants here, so it was a real treat to eat it again! I wish I had had some salt to bring it up to my taste, but it was pretty well done as far as authentic flavor go. Dolsot bibimbap is my ultimate Korean comfort food. White rice topped with marinated beef, all kinds of veggies (e.g. sauteed spinach, bean sprouts, maybe zucchini and carrots), an over easy egg, and bibim sauce which is made with a sweetened gochujang (fermented chili paste) which you can add to your taste. (If you're not great with Asian spice, feel free to ask for the sauce on the side!) Pricing is a bit higher than Il Mee, which is about 5 minutes away, but the selection is larger. Service was great when we visited. I am really looking forward to when I can come again! Logistics: lots of free parking is available for the whole plaza. A friend and I ate here last week for the first time. Someone had recommended it to my friend (who's a vegan). I am NOT a vegan, so I was very happily surprised to find meat on the menu along with the vegetarian options. The server was very helpful as we chose what to order. Just had another Outstanding meal at Tofu Village! My wife and I had the Bibimbob hot pot, which we have had a number of times before, but we still kept saying "Wow" during the entire meal. We both agreed this is our favorite restaurant. We also get the regular bibimbob during our visits with the same level of satisfaction. Since my family isn't here, I've been craving authentic Korean food. Based on the ratings and reviews, I decided to try this spot. I should stick with my go-to place and stop trying new spots. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was hot brown water. I tried to look past it and ordered a spicy rice cake appetizer (Tteok-bokki) and bone broth soup (Soll lung tang). Once I received my food, everything appeared normal, but I noticed my rice cake broth was extremely loose. Traditionally, it's a thicker base and more of a red color, but this wasn't that at all. Maybe I'm used to making these dishes with my mom, and I'm overly critical, but nothing was right. The non-broth soup didn't have the traditional taste I was looking for, blah and not salt. I will say the kimchi was tasty, and I purchased more. I ate the rice and kimchi, but I couldn't eat the rest, so I packed up and left--wasted time, money, and effort. I'm not sure if the cook did this intentionally or was just bad business, but I won't patronize this business in the future. Tofu Village serves as great comfort food. The service can sometimes be a little slow depending on when you come in, but staff are happy to help if you have any questions. The environment is nice and calming, and there is usually plenty of seating with accommodations for small and large parties. Food at Tofu Village usually doesn't disappoint. I usually order Bibimbap or bulgogi. I've yet to be disappointed by either and they also provide large portions of sides. The beef is flavorful and tender. Last review I'll leave for this place. I don't know why we keep coming to this place. It's so bad. Maybe because of the fact that we knew the previous owners. I'm not sure. Came with my wife and my parents. We got our food fairly quickly, but my parents noticed right away after eating the rice that it wasn't cooked all the way through. Uncooked rice, for those that are unfamiliar, when eaten isn't all that noticeable. The difference between cooked and uncooked is the aftertaste. The rice becomes gritty and these little rice bits linger in your mouth. And after that you get the taste of grain in your mouth. We brought this up to the staff to which they said "there's no way that could be". They offered to get us another bowl, but it would be from the same pot so there would have been no point. They actually ended up bringing us new rice (not sure if they just microwaved it or actually cooked up a new pot). By that point too much time had passed so we had lost our appetite. My wife ordered the soft tofu stew. It was thick. Like really really thick. I've never seen it that thick before. It was almost like if you left it in the fridge for like an hour you could scoop it all out in one piece. It was bad. We ended up asking for to-go boxes for everything (within 20 min of us being there) and left. We didn't take the soft tofu stew. It was that bad. The only redeeming factor for this place for me was the katsu sauce. But I was able to find out how they made it and as they say, once you know how the sausage is made... Their clientele seems to be directed to non Koreans at this point. The only Koreans you'll see in there are probably there because they didn't want to cook that night or didn't want to drive all the way to doraville or Duluth. Stay away. read more
