They don't have the full menu and indoor seating of the parent restaurant but that may not be a bad thing depending on what you're looking for. Case and point, I wanted chowder in a bread bowl with a nice view and Tognazzini's Too more than obliged. The bread bowl was freshly baked and came overflowing with hot, creamy, soupy, seafood-y goodness. It was just what I was looking for. They have plenty of outdoor seating with a great view of Morro Bay and the giant rock, boats, seals and sea otters. Watch out for birds though. Nothing out of the park, but you won't be disappointed. - The musician there also adds to the experience. - Pet friendly and the workers even bring a water bowl for your pup. CONS: - I've had the BBQ oysters here in the past and they were tasty, even for someone who doesn't like shell fish. This time around, the oyster was slightly cold, didn't have much of the garlic butter, and had a very briny taste to it. The oyster was also not as big as they used to be. Whenever we visit our alma mater in SLO, we always drop by Morro Bay for some BBQ oysters. We love this spot - affordable, great views, and delicious foods! There's plenty of parking in the large lot shared with other businesses and there's plenty of outdoor seating made perfect for this pandemic setting. You place an order inside, find your seating outside, and they call your name when your order is ready. I ordered about 9 BBQ oysters at $2 each. It used to be nearly half the price when I was in college a decade ago but inflation... and it's still a good steal! They are fresh and tasty. I also ordered 3 half oysters - raw. The oysters are pretty big and come in amazing melted butter and other goodness. They provide other items such as fish and chips, sandwiches, salads, tacos, clam chowder, etc. The seafood is fresh - you can also order raw seafood and cook them at the convenience of your own place. Service is quick and excellent. I love the view of the Morro Bay rock right on their patio. Fantastic way to enjoy a meal while soaking in the lovely views of Morro Bay. I am eager to come back to enjoy some more oysters and try their other items on the menu. read more

We've come to sit on the dock by the bay for many years, enjoying some really excellent fried and grilled fish selections. And those BBQ oysters!! And those surprising side salads!! But oh, with a sad heart and despair, and despite trying again and again over the past 5 years now, we must report that our formerly beloved go-to grilled fish spot can no longer produce what was previously sent out for our delightful enjoyment. Something has changed for the worse on the back end. Their line cooks can no longer deliver consistent grilled fish. Over and over we've gone back, hoping against hope to find the delicious grilled fish of old. Alas, it is no longer possible to eat a decent fillet of grilled fish by the dock of Morro Bay, if you go to Tognazzini's. Dry, old, overcooked, overpriced and sad is what comes off the grill now, even when you pick your fillet of presumably fresh-caught fish from the case to be cooked for you. At the current prices, we'd expected higher quality. But no. Go elsewhere my friend. I wish I knew where to send you. Sad, sad, sad - how the mighty have fallen. We still visit Morro Bay, but we find other places to eat. Never to return here. read more

The staff were prompt and very friendly. For my meal I ordered their onion rings and fried clams. The onion rings were right out of the fryer, crisp, and came with ranch. A little oily,but after all, they're onion tings. The clams were a little underwhelming. The strips were dominantly more batter than clam, which was a disappointment. Luckily the house made tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were there to provide an assist. I usually order the catch of the day sandwich that is always wonderful. Came during the July fourth weekend and it was packed since everyone wanted to sit outside. We decided to take it to go and it surprisingly travelled pretty well. We did a dozen bbq oysters that came with garlic olive oil to dip (I think), fish taco, scallop taco, clam chowder and grilled fish and chips. Highly recommend the tacos here. They pack a lot into the taco and the tortilla is soft. The seafood was fresh and tasty. Would skip on the clam chowder and bbq oysters though. The clam chowder was more like a paste and too thick. The oysters were HUGE but I thought bbq oysters meant that it would come with bbq sauce or some kind of topping on them but they were plain. Well, ok, some live music on the day I was there added a bit to the ambiance but it's the food and the view that does it for me every time I'm here. It was a bright sunny day and I ordered a smoked scallop taco and a smoked shrimp taco, along with a bottle of Wild Blueberry Kombuchadog. So good and yummy! Watching the seal lion cruising the water by my table, watching the birds visiting hoping for handouts (lots of signs saying "don't feed the wildlife" so don't do it!) and sometimes catching the otters swimming and playing nearby is the best meal-time entertainment ever. Ended up here on the recommendation of a friend of a friend who joined my man and I for lunch in Morro Bay.The original destination was supposed to be Giovanni's Fish house but the line was heck of long and he suggested this spot. Now, atmosphere wise this is a spot on five star spot. Directly over the water, casual, live music playing and beautiful views of the harbor. Excellent menu too. Unfortunately, not sure they are prepared for such a crowd. It was a sunny day and I think everyone was exploring the coast that day. We were told our food would be 45 minutes, but it took an hour. Thank goodness I ordered a pitcher of beer while we waited and a cup of chowder which was served immediately. The food itself was just ok. I ordered fish tacos, fried and the fish was minimal. The oysters we ordered had good taste but I could not get over the smell. They smelled not so good and I declined eating more than one. The fish and chips my man ordered were just ok. Not big filets of fish. The french fries, mmm, hard to mess up fried potatoes. I would recommend coming here on a sleepy afternoon when the place is nearly empty. Because as I mentioned, the location was on point. You can sit directly on the water watching otters. And based on the other reviews I imagine if they are not slammed, the food is much better. We were recommended to go here for fish and chips because it was the best. Wrong. I was shocked at how small the fish pieces are. Each piece was half the size you get at most other fish n chip food shops. So, if you normally eat a 3 piece at Long John Silvers, you'll need a 5 piece here. Worst of all, the first 2 pieces I ate were tasty and cooked well. I took a bite of the 3rd piece with my fork, not paying attention, and it was not cooked completely. The fish was still gray and somewhat jelly-like texture and cold. You can imagine my issues the following day. We won't be back. read more

I've been coming to this place for over 25 years and this is the very 1st time that I have been totally disappointed with their barbecue oysters.. I drive 4 hours especially to come here to eat these and today I ordered a dozen and a half.. paid over 40 something dollars for them and approximately 6 of them were burned to a crisp. Dry,overcooked and chewy.. and they did not want to compensate for the burnt ones.. so so so disappointed. So much so i couldn't eat my chowder... left a bad taste in my mouth... so much for 100 for 18 oysters, pitcher of beer and 2 chowders.. NEVER AGAIN...
