    The Philly and fries
    Derrick C.

My wife wanted a cheese steak or as she calls it, steak and cheese (Some time ago she was reprimanded in my hometown, Philadelphia for calling it that). So we searched Yelp and found this place. It wasn't a bad experience. The place was clean, the atmosphere was quiet, and the service was great. I ordered the Philly, which was ribeye, onions, Cooper sharp cheese, salt and pepper. I added banana peppers. My wife had the Philly as well, but ordered provolone cheese instead of cooper; and then she added mayo, lettuce and tomatoes; in Philadelphia we call that a cheese steak hoagie. The cheese steak was smaller than I expected, but plenty of meat for the size. However, we both thought it was more on the bland side. It didn't taste bad, it just wasn't flavorful without adding the mustard and ketchup. The french fries were very good; the kind of fries you put malt vinegar on. A decent portion, but not like those hamburger joints that give you too many fries and you feel like you have to eat them all; especially if you lack will power. Both the cheese steak and the fries were fresh and hot, which is always a good thing. I just wish there sandwich was tastier and larger. Overall I would go again and give it another try... My wife said the same.

The portions are great and the cheesesteak was pretty good! Not as good as Philly spots in my opinion but that's a given. It was a bit greasy when I went but also not a surprise with cheesesteaks. The portion is big enough for two meals but likely wouldn't keep well for long so I suggest sharing and splitting with a friend. You both will definitely leave full!

YUMMY - Tokoa Cheesesteak was delicious! We came here after not having a good meal at another place - the menu offers various styles of cheesesteaks, sides, and drinks - pretty straightforward! We ordered a Jalapeno Cheesesteak Sub to share - this was jampacked with prime ribeye steak, melted American cheese, and grilled jalapenos, all nestled in an Italian-seeded roll that is coated with their signature garlic spread. This was SO GOOD. It was juicy, beefy, cheesy, and had a nice kick from the jalapenos. I loved that everything is made-to-order, so our sub came out piping out! I was a little nervous about the bread, but it was soft, fluffy, and held all the fillings well - everything just tasted fresh and delicious! We also got a Tokoa Refresher - this had a combination of lime and various other fruits/citrus - this was super refreshing and a great complement to the meal. When you walk in, you place an order at the cashier and wait for your number to be called; there are a handful of seating inside, and you can dine-in or take yours to-go. Service was very kind and awesome! Can't wait to return and stuff my face again! Metered and restricted street parking in the area. +delicious cheesesteaks! +try their Tokoa Refresher! +friendly service! +metered and restricted street parking available

I'm trying to eat less red meat in the new year but there was one meal still lingering on my culinary short list for 2023- a cheesesteak from Tokoa, one of the newest additions to the Baltimore Ave strip in College Park. I was able to place an order via their website for pickup. The time estimate said 25 mins, but it was ready with 15, so bonus points there. I unfortunately didn't dine in, but they have ample seating for small groups and/or individuals if that's what you choose. There's also light music playing in the background, so the vibe isn't awkward or anything. This block of Rt 1 can be tricky in terms of parking, but depending on the time of day, the office park a block up has space for parking and seems perfect quick pick up if you don't want to fool with the usual traffic and hassle of crossing the street. In terms of food: I requested my fries extra crispy, and they were perfect. They're the kind of fries that can be eaten alone or be elevated by a dipping sauce. I also ordered the large TK Cheesesteak with no modifications. First things first, this thing is huge and definitely enough for two servings. Secondly, it was absolutely delicious. Flavorful, juicy, and great texture on the bread. It's going to be hard to stay away from this place in 2024, so I'll have to try the chicken cheesesteaks on future trips.

I'm a proud UMD alum (sometimes) and if Tokoa Cheesesteaks was around when I was in college, I would've been always been there I feel like lol. Especially when I had breaks between classes. I got the TK cheesesteak and it usually comes with mushrooms, green peppers, mayo, and provolone. I asked for no mushrooms and light mayo. It was nice and juicy and flavorful. Like the perfect cheesesteak to me. I reheated half of it the next day and it was still really good! In June, I visited two cheesesteak spots in Philly: Max's and Leo's Steak Shop. I'm sure no one will believe me (especially with the popularity of Max's), but Tokoa was better than Max's (to me). Like my cheesesteak from Max's was actually dry.

A friend and I visited on 1/26/24. When we entered, there was no one inside and we were able to order right away. It was nice, clean and inviting inside. We both ordered the Philly's Best and fries. My friend is from Philly and I've had plenty of cheesesteaks from Philly, so we were tough critics. The sandwich was decent, but I would get the bread untoasted next time.

Moments after explaining to Wonder Woman that he brought, as a gift, a new strain of rose called the Krypton, Batman is taken aback with horror. Standing in front of him, perfectly still, with the tendrils of an alien plant (the Black Mercy) growing out of his costume, is Superman, alone in his thoughts, neither dreaming nor awake. Batman, Robin, and Wonder Woman learn that Superman is in a tranced state, trapped by a would-be-birthday present, eternally hallucinating his heart's desires by Warworld's alien ruler, Mongul. Unlike in Alan Moore's iconic comic book story, "For the Man who has Everything," in which the victims of the Black Mercy exist at the precipice of relearning about their own tragic histories--for Superman, the destruction of Krypton as an infant; for Batman, the murders of his parents as a child--there are no hidden, culinary dangers when you purchase and consume cheesesteaks and fries or cheese fries from Tokoa Cheesesteaks, nestled in the heart of College Park, Maryland at 7313 Baltimore Ave. There, you can experience what only Philadelphians experience regularly: perfectly-cooked, sumptuous, delicious cheesesteaks that will continue to whet your appetite long after you have consumed them. My wife ordered a large Philly's best and I ordered a large Southwest Chicken without the Mayo, relish, or Chipotle aioli; and we cannot wait to make new memories with our next visit.

This is @tokoacheesesteaks College Park, Md So a foodie friend told me I had to get here and I'm glad I did! Featured: Tokoa Refresher...Made with oranges, lemons, and tangerines; it was literally the perfect drink. I even got an extra to go. Now one might say add a little tequila for a heightened experience but you ain't heard that from me 10/10 Chicken Flautas...I love flautas! And these did not disappoint. Crispy on the outside and filled with chicken and flavor! 9/10 Bacon mac and cheese bites... I can't believe I'm saying this because y'all know I love bacon but these would have been superb without the bacon. Still tasty. 7.5/10 Fries...Flaky and crispy on the outside while soft on the inside. Seasoned well 8/10 Cheesesteaks...Big, juicy, flavorful, satisfying...the bread is soft but didn't fall apart. The meat is perfectly cooked and seasoned well. So many options to choose from or create your own! 10/10 I definitely recommend! #collegeparkrestaurants #cheesesteaks #baltimorefoodie #baltimorefoodfinder #baltimorerestautants #eatmorebmore #charmcityfood #charmcityeats #dmvfoodfinder #dmvfoodie #dmveats #dmvrestaurants #eastcoasteats #marylandeats #blackgirlblogger #blackgirleats #fatgirlfood #newfoodfinds #boujieblackgirl #wherewebouttoeatat #bmorecity #bmorecityfood #bmorecountyfood

Coming in The inside was very nice and clean but, The cheesesteak could use some more seasoning on the meat or something I don't know what it was but it didn't really stand out.

I was not very impressed with the presentation or what I paid for my two subs. I got a chicken cheesesteak and a steak cheesesteak. Neither one had much flavor and needed seasoning. The service was great. It was quick however no one was in the restaurant because they were renovating. Great location.

Do not waste your time or money! I'm Not sure how this place gets such high reviews for cheesesteaks! Maybe it's limited to the ones that aren't chicken. I stopped by today and had the chicken cheesesteak. The worst thing ever! It looked delicious as I unwrapped it. However, it is basically braised chicken thighs! Yuck! Never would've imagined this. I have never had a chicken cheesesteak that wasn't white meat. And definitely not braised! I would not return!

One of the tastiest cheesesteaks I have ever had. We came in on Saturday just before 3pm and there was nobody else there. I asked for the fries extra crispy and they came out perfect. This was the cheesiest, steakiest, and the seeded roll was amazing. There is ample seating un here with a nice window in the front for people watching.
