Made a phone order, and picked up from the store. Had to wait a little once we got to the restaurant. Paid when we got there. Food was good. Always consistently tasty. I got the mapo tofu curry and it was good and came with a few gyoza. We also got the shabu curry, which was a good open. But my go to is always chicken katsu with cheese, I'll probably get that next time!
Absolutely love this curry spot! Whenever I'm craving curry I come here! You can order take out or dine in. There's counter or booth seating. We wanted a both so we put our name down and waited about 10 minutes. I love the shabu shabu beef and spinach with cheese curry!
Don't order calamari!!! Thin like paper shred! Go there since high school, so disappointed seeing quality go down so much.
Curry House, specifically McCully location always feels like home to me. I would come here when I was younger with my mom for dinner. Something about warm curry sitting in those red booth felt so comforting and safe. Now that I am sooo much older, I still come here, but with my boyfriend or friends. Curry House is somewhere you want to go out to eat, but not break your wallet for and anything you order is bombb. It has tasted the same ever since ever! Sometimes my dad will visit from the mainland and one day I decided to take him here because he loves a good Japanese curry with chicken katsu. OMG i should've took him here sooner because now it is his first request once he lands. Service is always quick and easy and they now accept credit cards. yayyy ifkyk. Come here on occasion when have an inkling for curry. This time got the stewed chicken spinach, which is marked as a favorite. It's simple inside with efficient service and cheaper for cash, very local. Good prices given it's on the local side of Waikiki.
This place never ceases to hit the spot when you're craving curry. This place has been at this location for a very long time. Inflation keeps rising but their prices are still on point! Parking can be difficult (limited/ tight stalls), but there is also a parking garage downstairs (be careful if you park downstairs in the garage, there have been break ins before, leave no valuables in your car). Overall, simple, delicious meal, with decent prices. I think service used to be a lot better. Employees would welcome you when you come in with "Irasshaimase".. ! But that vibe wasn't there.
My husband and I came to Curry House CoCo Ichibanya for a late lunch. I suggested we go here because my husband loves curry and he was astounded by the price. It's about $12 - 15 for a normal plate of curry here and we had been worried about our Hawaii trip because someone had told us prior that a decent meal could be upwards of $90. Curry House CoCo Ichibanya was such a delightful surprise because of the price but also the quality and quantity of the food. The curry house was near full when we arrived, but there were a few seats and no line. We were seated at the booth and given a menu where I promptly ordered beef curry rice and my husband ordered curry udon. The portion sizes were absolutely massive but the price was so affordable that we couldn't help but order some sides. We got some fried mini octopus that came out steaming hot with crisp outer layer and some tasty gyoza. I ended up getting too full midway, but my husband devoured my beef curry rice after polishing off the curry udon. The udon for both was such rich and flavorful and the beef cubes in my curry was amazingly tender. The food was so good that we considered coming back again, but we ended up visiting other establishments because it was our first time in Hawaii and we wanted to see as many different restaurants as we could. The service here was very nice. We didn't get checked up on very often and it was nice being able to eat in peace. It felt very cozy and being at the booth allowed us to observe the food being made behind the counter. A wonderful restaurant and I'm sure we'll come back to visit when we're back in Hawaii!
Stop by at 7:30pm for the first time and was kindly seated at the bar. The cooks were hustling putting out plates of food one after the other. Ordered the most popular item, kalbi and fried chicken. Waitress recommended I try the fried shumai appetizer. Within minutes, Shumai arrived steaming hot and had a nice crunch. Kalbi and chicken curry over rice was huge. The curry was very mild flavored and was delicious. Fried chicken melted in your mouth and the Kalbi was thinly sliced and soft. Everything blended so well. Ambiance was lively and upbeat. Very clean and efficient, felt like eating in Tokyo. Great value, will definitely be back to try everything on the menu.
I first fell in love with the curry house back in 2001, when they were in the Ala Moana food court. I always have to stop in at least once whenever I am visiting from the mainland. I was heartbroken to see the Ala Moana store had recently closed, but I'm glad this place was just around the corner. Before my first visit, I had never had Japanese brown curry before. Heck, I had never even heard of it. Now, I love it! I stopped in tonight, everybody was friendly. As of November 2025, this restaurant is to go only. I don't know if they are doing remodeling or what, but it wasn't a big deal, I just took my food back to my hotel. The menu is very large. I had the shrimp cutlet and stewed shrimp curry. She asked me if I wanted it spicy or mild, I asked for mild. When I got the food back to my hotel, the food was still plenty warm, and it was delicious. It's a thicker richer, curry, and it was wonderful. It didn't look like a lot of food, but it was. They were very generous with both the shrimp cutlet, as well as the stewed shrimp. The rice was perfectly tender, and there was a little bit of pickled veg, I believe it was ginger. That provided a nice pop of sweetness and acid. The curry had just a tiny bit of spice, just enough that I knew that it was there. It made my tongue dance just a tiny bit. I've never had a bad meal from this place, and tonight was no different. The prices are extremely reasonable. If you pay with credit/debit, there is a very small. Upcharge, but they let you know about it ahead of time. I will continue to come back whenever I'm on the islands. Thank you!
Curry house has been a longtime go-to for reliable, no-frills curry. The menu looks large but the concept is pretty simple: you're getting curry with rice (or udon, if you choose) and some combination of toppings, many of them fried. You're not limited to the topping combinations shown on the menu, you can actually do whatever combination you want and pay for the toppings a la carte. Keep in mind that this is fast casual, simple food, and there's a good chance your meal will come out to less than $20 - at this price point, I wouldn't expect fresh oysters for fried oysters or dry aged pork going into the pork cutlet. That being said, the food is still tasty - shabu beef, mapo tofu, chicken cutlet, I could go on - there hasn't been a thing on the menu here that I did not like. Service is pretty minimal but has always been fast and efficient. The shopping center has a parking lot as well as a downstairs garage, but both can fill up completely during peak hours.

I went in hungry and still had leftovers, which is always a win. I ordered the takoyaki balls on the side, and let me tell you... these bad boys were HUGE. Way bigger than I expected, but they were definitely on the soggy side. The curry itself? Eh, not mind-blowing, but decent. It hits the spot if you're craving Japanese-style curry, but it won't be a flavor explosion for your taste buds. Oh, and if you check out the pic I posted... I was starving, so I had already scarfed down a good portion before remembering to take a photo. Worth trying if you're in the mood for a filling meal that won't break the bank!

Japanese curry here always hits! I love that they're generous with the katsu, and I always leave feeling full and satisfied. The curry itself is super flavorful, rich, and comforting. I also really like the deep-fried tako, although I do wish they gave more pieces as the portion is very small. I only got 6 pieces last time. The restaurant has a casual, laid-back vibe, and the service is always fast. Definitely a solid spot whenever I'm craving Japanese curry! read more

I was really looking forward to the Japanese curry, but it wasn't quite what I expected. The curry was more like a thin soup, which wasn't my preference. The fried chicken nuggets were a little dry, but worked better with the curry. The gyoza tasted more like store-bought than homemade, although they were fried nicely and crispy. The rice was fluffy. The chicken katsu, made more like tonkatsu, also wasn't my favorite. I prefer the lighter, crispier panko breading of traditional tonkatsu, while this felt more like fried chicken with some panko. We ordered it spicy, and the guy described it as more of a peppery spice--and he was spot on. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back specifically for the curry, but it's a busy spot with lots of locals, so it may be worth trying for yourself. read more

My coworkers and I ordered takeout, and I got a plate with a side of gyoza thinking it'd be a safe, simple choice. I was just about to take a bite when I saw it--a whole dead cockroach wedged inside the fold of one of the gyozas. I honestly wish I could unsee it. It completely killed my appetite and, honestly, everyone else's too. I called right away to report it and asked for a refund. When we went back, the reaction (or lack of one) made it even worse. No apology, no acknowledgment--just the cashier silently handing over the cash. She didn't seem surprised at all, which was really unsettling and made me question how often something like this happens. I get that mistakes can happen, but this isn't a small issue--it's a serious health concern. It completely ruined our experience and any trust we had in the restaurant's cleanliness. This was especially disappointing because we used to like Curry House, but after this, we definitely won't be coming back. Curry house, please do better. This isn't something any customer should have to deal with. If zero stars were an option, that's exactly what I'd give. read more

Right off a 6 hour flight we dropped in and picked up dinner to-go. I settled on my go-to dish... Chicken Katsu Curry with Cheese. It was soo delicious. I chose the hot spice level for my curry but it wasn't really that spicy, however, that was great for me because I don't really care for a whole lot of spice. The chicken was juicy and tender with that yummy melted cheese. We walked in, ordered and it was ready pretty fast. For the portion size and the quality it's very resonably priced. I'll be grabbing this meal once more before I fly out for sure!. I definitely recommend giving this a try if you haven't had it yet. read more

Curry House CoCo is located in a small stripmall on Kapiolani/McCully. Found memories of finding parking in this busy lot. I think the first time we went here, it was so good that we visited them 3-4 times in our week stay in Oahu. There is something so comforting about Japanese curry and rice. We usually get the Katsu Curry, but they have a variety of things to try. Come check them out! Support local businesses. read more

Another night of curry at the Curry House. We had the beef curry as well as the tofu curry. Both were equally delicious. You can have all the expensive foods and fine dining on the beach but if you're not having it with someone that makes you happy the food and experience is a waste. Glad I spent it with my wife here. read more
I got the mapo tofu and gyoza curry. This curry was so delicious. The mapo tofu was so flavorful and the gyoza were so crispy. The portion was large which I appreciated. My friend ordered the chicken katsu curry, but I liked the one I ordered better. So yummy and some of the best curry I've had in a while! read more

I stopped by my favorite restaurant chain with my family while in town for a race. I got the chicken katsu cheese curry. I got 400 mg of rice and made it spicy. Same great taste I enjoyed while living in Japan. The restaurant is a little small, but we were seated pretty quickly. I will be back for more curry! read more

Same old curry house. This place never changes. The food was the same as the last time I ate it (at a different location). I just finished running a half marathon and deserved a Chicken Cutlet curry. It was really good. I have mixed feelings about McCully shopping center though and its because of the limited/tight parking. read more

Service was quick, efficient, and friendly. The pace was pretty fast, as there is usually a line waiting outside. The food was very tasty and good portions. Lots of options of curry bowls to choose from too! The restaurant was small, and your typical local dine and dash. The prices were also very good and cheap! read more
Tasty, fast, and fresh Japanese curry. If you haven't had this before, don't be thrown off by the appearance (pile of rice, brownish thick sauce, fried item on top) - it's a classic for a reason. The curry here is very good and the pork katsu (true classic) plentiful and crispy. We usually order that one and a plate of the mixed fried chicken/kalbi to share between a family of four. Honestly I can't imagine eating a whole plate on my own, making the actual meal cost quite reasonable. We've also enjoyed the croquettes (basically mashed potatoes or mashed pumpkin fried in pumpkin). Not a huge fan of the other sides (gyozas and shu mai are much better elsewhere and mini octopus were a bit wharfy, though cooked well). Easy, tasty, affordable, if not the healthiest lunch option. Service always friendly and helpful. read more

If you investigate, it appears that there is. There is a base labeled 'vegetarian' available in Mild only listed on the menu. According to the official website, even though the vegetarian curry base is manufactured in the same factory as milk…

What's on the table ? Koko or ginger?
That's their signature tsukemono. Kinda like sambai zuke
