All I got was the miso soup and 2 spring rolls, so I can't judge the entrees. But the miso soup tasted like it was made with just water and not dashi stalk, very plain. Purchased 2 Hibachi Beef Bento boxes and a chicken for lunch. Bill was over $40 bucks - no drinks. I specifically asked if everything was there for the take-out order - they said yes. Got home and again they did not include the salad nor spring rolls! One beef was so grisly, even the dog wouldn't eat it. Got the beef bento box dinner version. The service was super fast and I was able to watch exactly what was being done and going into the box. The restaurant was clean but kind of disorganized and I really did hit it at a very busy time. Surprisingly the small dining room was not very crowded mostly delivery and take-out. My order was ready much quicker than I thought it would be and they're certainly was a lot of food in the Box. By the time I got home everything was still pretty hot and for the most part it was pretty tasty and enjoyable. The beef was really tender and flavorful but I think the next time I'll try the chicken as I think it would absorb more of the flavor of being cooked on the Hot Grill. All in all a good experience worth the price just nothing special read more

I have to say the food is okay. I have to knock then two stars due to the amount of grease and preservatives in their food. I don't recommend eating their sushi, as I saw the sushi bar seemed to be rather open. It didn't look fresh to me. If you stick with standard Chinese food, you will be okay. I was generally disappointed. The only thing really excellent about the place was the clean restrooms. read more

I had a terrible experience here. I went at lunch, and there were just a few people, so I thought it would be quick. Turns out they were doing some giant takeout order, and I ended up waiting more than a half-hour for my food. Everybody else who was there was also sitting and looking at their watches. I wish they had let me know the wait would be that long, and they didn't apologize for the wait when they finally brought my food. Then, the food was literally dripping in butter. There was a glob of butter at the bottom of the vegetables. The rice was heavily soaked with butter. Even the bottom of the container had butter all over it when I picked it up to throw it away. I've eaten at a lot of quick Japanese restaurants, but none that used enough butter that I could taste it, much less that left a greasy taste in my mouth for hours afterward. Tonight was just pathetic. I called my order in and was told 25 minutes jyst to get there after 35 minutes and waited another 35 minutes to get my order. Then my shrimp and steak plate had 6 small hard pieces of steak raw veggies and about 6 shrimps. The noodles were even skimpy. I ordered a Hibachi vegetable H7 to go. While eating the vegetables there was pieces of food that I couldn't chew and it didn't feel right in my mouth so I spit it out. It was strips of raw chicken. I stopped eating the food and took it back to Tokyo express. The woman to the container and went into the back for a few minutes came back to the front and addressed me with a rude tone. When I went to show her it wasn't the same the chicken it was changed. I was upset because I could have gotten salmonella poisoning. So I reported them to the environmental health department. Pros: I ordered the chicken hibachi bento box. It was great! Large portions, fair prices, and everything was hot and fresh. No complaints about the food itself. Cons: We were told upon walking in that they don't have sushi anymore. Huh? It's a Japanese restaurant and sushi is featured on the main page of their website. So, that was odd and disappointing. Although this is located in a relatively new strip mall, the interior feels old. This is excusable for a place like Inoko Sushi Express on the eastside, which has been there forever, but it was weird that it already felt 20 years old. It's also small, which I guess is fair enough given the "Express" name. We were eating in, but the food was still served in to go containers with plasticware. Again, compared to Inoko Sushi Express, which also bears the "Express" name, kind of disappointing because Inoko makes more of an effort to still provide a good dine-in experience. Overall, we'll probably go back because the location is convenient and I loved the food, but probably just for take out. And if we want "express" sushi, we'll stick with Inoko. read more

The food was decent, but the interaction I watched between a customer and the woman who takes orders (the only one who works there according to her) was one of the worst displays of customer service ever. He had picked up an order earlier this week and when he got back to work realized the meat was way over cooked. He called and they said to come back when he could and they'd replace the meal. She said she didn't have anything written down and asked who he talked to. He couldn't remember, but it was obvious he knew what he was talking about. Instead of trying to come to a resolution she just kept saying that her and one other person were the only people who answer the phone and they didn't remember. This is an extremely busy place so I doubt they remember everything. Anyway she contributed and was essentially saying the customer (who they admitted eats there often) was lying. I decided to voice my opinion as she just kept going on at the customer and let her know that it sounded like she was calling him a liar... to which she burst out in tears and got louder... I think she needs a day off... it's not that serious!!! However, you should never insinuate that a customer you know is being less than honest. read more

They use msg and tell people that they don't use it. Some people have allergies and that could be very dangerous! Also for anyone who tips in cash, those tips go to the owners' 8 year old daughter. And anyone who puts a tip when they pay with a credit card, the owners will just keep those for themselves. Okay, so since the food is good I decided to give this place another chance. I waited a very long time for my food last week, so I called ahead this time. I was told that the order would take 15 -20 minutes. I gave them 20, given the history. I paid for my order. It was not yet ready and I figured it would be just a minute or two. I wait and wait. I received my food about 10 minutes later after I asked if any of the to-go orders there were mine. Thank goodness I asked, or I would still be standing there. Surprisingly excellent food - flavorful and satisfying. It's set in a newish shopping plaza across from Athens Tech. It really deserves a bigger crowd, and I sure hope folks find it soon. I particularly love the miso soup, with tofu cubes and greens, which really hits the spot on cold days. There's a terrific Tokyo spring roll appetizer that's crispy and succulent. All the sushi and rolls so far have been great - at one point I accidentally ordered the vegetable roll instead of the spring rolls. It arrived - essentially salad in a rice roll. But it tasted yummy and light, with a hint of mirrin, and was probably tons healthier. Best of all, the prices are pretty doable for folks on a budget who still want a quick, delicious and satisfying meal. read more

I just moved, and was looking for a good Asian-themed restaurant. I've been here twice for lunch, and ordered their Bento box both times. Very pleasant staff. Big servings, and I even had enough left over for dinner. Well balanced meal, as well, since they serve you with a fresh salad with your meal. Even when sitting in the restaurant to eat, they will serve your food in to-go/plasticware, but this was favorable to me as I was able to wrap up my own leftovers with no hassle.
